I Became a Law School Genius – 128

I Became a Genius Law School Student Episode 128
As I was looking at this again wondering what was going on Hyun Jun-seo added.
“He’s a senior I’ve known since I worked at Jin & Ahn.”
‘That’s right this human was from Jin & An.’
I remembered Hyun Jun-seo’s biography listed on the website. It was clearly written that he was from Jin & An. In that case it wouldn’t be strange if there was a connection with Seong Jin-tae.
“Applicant Park Yoo-seung. “You went to intern with Jin & Ahn.”
‘ah.’
Now I understand why Hyun Jun-seo brought up Seong Jin-tae’s story.
“Attorney Seong boasted like that in private. “I found an item among the items. I gave him confirmation but he said he wasn’t sure if he would come to our company.”
Hyun Jun-seo mentioned the fact that I interned at Jin & Ahn and that I had already received confirmation from there.
‘this.’
“Why didn’t you put it on your resume?”
Hyun Jun-seo’s eyes flashed sharply.
‘It’s a royalty question.’
Royalty question.
This is a general term that refers to a question aimed at finding out how much the applicant wants to work for this company and how long he or she can stay there.
Compared to general companies law firms demand lower royalties. This is because a lawyer is a professional and fundamentally one who creates his or her own career by freely changing jobs.
However having no intention of joining the company is a separate issue.
‘Why didn’t you put it on your resume?’
That’s natural.
‘Because I knew you would find fault like this!’
I have already received confirmation from Jin & Ahn. And Jin & Ahn is the steadfast top-ranking law firm in the legal profession in Korea.
If you receive confirmation from a place like that and then become an intern at another law firm there is a high possibility that your sincerity will be questioned.
– Even if you add it you won’t come here anyway.
In short it means that such criticism can be raised.
So I didn’t need to write it down. In the first place even when looking at Jin & Ahn separately my qualifications were objectively sufficient.

But I couldn’t believe that Hyun Jun-seo was personally acquainted with Seong Jin-tae.
“If you have received confirmation from Jin & Ahn the incentive to come to our law firm will be relatively low. “Is there any reason why we must select such an applicant?”
And Hyun Jun-seo came in and pointed out exactly the point I was concerned about.
‘This is true.’
Of course I had no intention of joining Chansol even after the internship program was over.
I don’t even go to Jin & An. Because I’m going to become a prosecutor.
In some ways it may be considered rude to apply for an internship while hiding your true feelings.
In fact Hyun Jun-seo was also taking issue with this part.
‘It’s a difficult question to answer.’
Even when I was interning at Jin & An this problem was a problem. Didn’t lawyer Go Cheol-soo who found out that I was an aspiring prosecutor threaten me and tell me to quit my job as an intern?
At the time it wasn’t a big problem because the other partner attorneys thought highly of me enough to take this into account and act favorably.
However this time Hyun Jun-seo who holds the decision-making power is directly at stake with the royalty issue.
There is no way to avoid it. You have to defend yourself somehow.
‘But by what means?’
I organize my thoughts and shift my gaze. I realized again that there were cameras installed everywhere in this interview room.
Even while this is happening those cameras are probably filming every moment.
It was said that it would be used as broadcast material in the future so it is correct.
‘…Broadcast for a moment?’
At that moment a thought flashed through my head.
‘Yes this is a broadcast.’
This interview is not a simple intern recruitment process. This is part of the filming process for the entertainment program ‘High Flyer’ planned by Channel A.
If so there will be special characteristics that arise because it is a broadcast.
‘If it’s broadcast… what’s different?’
The first thing to think of is the ‘applicants’ purpose.’
In general there are two main purposes for law school students to apply for internships.
Aim to be hired by the law firm by showing good performance or gain practical experience and a one-line resume to use in the job market later.
However those who applied for ‘High Flyer’ are a little different. Of course there are people who have similar goals.
Nevertheless it cannot be denied that many people make ‘appearing on broadcasts’ itself their goal.
‘Getting your name out there and promoting yourself.’
It would be even better if you could become famous through broadcasting.
We live in an era where even lawyers have to engage in endless sales competition. If you can make yourself known to many people and gain a good image it can potentially be a greater benefit than getting a job confirmed right away.
In other words it means that I am not the only applicant who does not necessarily seek employment.
Rather there was a high possibility that there were more people who gathered with an interest in ash than in chanting.
‘If that’s the case why should I protest against it?’
But isn’t that a little… unsophisticated? I don’t think it’s persuasive enough.
Although it may be a reason not to select other applicants it is not a reason to directly select me.
‘Let me think about it some more.’

The difference that arises because it is a broadcast was not a bad point to consider. Couldn’t this be used in another way?
“Could you please answer?”
At the sound of Hyun Jun-seo’s voice I suddenly turned my head and looked at him. A dull face whose expression cannot be read.
I guess I should say it was fortunate that the youthful look in those eyes didn’t displease me.
An emotionless gaze as if assessing something.
‘It’s strange.’
The content of the question itself is very aggressive but the appropriate emotion cannot be read from the attitude. Of course one might think that the character Hyun Jun-seo itself is that type.
‘But somehow it feels like there’s something else going on… ah.’
As I was reading the statement I realized something.
‘…What if it’s not just the applicants who are interested in ash?’
Applicants are not the only ones participating in the program with their own goals.
Maybe that’s the same for Chansol Law Firm.
‘Why did Chansol participate in this program in the first place?’
Partner lawyers are not people who have nothing to do. This is especially true for law firms like Chansol that are achieving outstanding performance in a variety of specialized fields.
He works day and night to solve cases meets with clients visits business partners and wins or maintains contracts.
What if the partner lawyers who are extremely busy are somehow trying to squeeze in time to appear on the air?
There’s no way you would do something like this ‘just for fun’. Out of pure good faith to provide good opportunities for law school students? That kind of interpretation is just as good as criticizing your head for being a flower garden.
Then… there is only one answer I can think of.
‘Chansol wants it too. An opportunity to gain recognition and build an advanced image.’
Chansol is a small boutique law firm.
Its expertise and substance are comparable to those of large law firms but in the battle for manpower and capital it is bound to fall behind due to the difference in weight class.
What if we tried to break that limitation by relying on the promotional effect through broadcast appearances?
‘I think I know how to answer.’
It is the same as understanding the examiner’s intention when solving a case-type problem. As long as you can read what you want it is not that difficult to come up with an appropriate answer.
“Can I understand the interviewer’s question as ‘Why do you want to come to Chansol even after receiving confirmation from Jin & Ahn?’”
“…Not necessarily. “It could be the answer to that as well as the answer to my question.”
“Then I would like to say this.”
I smiled confidently at Hyun Jun-seo.
“I am also here to find the answer.”
“yes?”
Incredulity spread across Hyun Jun-seo’s expression.
“I told you earlier about the motivation for applying. “It is sincerity without a single bit of falsehood.”
It was true. I was definitely expecting that there would be things I could only learn at Chansol. He never jumped in with the sole purpose of helping Chae Song-ha clear his debt.
“I sympathize with Chansol’s vision and want to learn from its capabilities. However I am not yet sure whether they are worth giving up the opportunity to join Jin & Ahn.”
“Then why?”
“That’s why I applied to check it out for myself. “Is Chansol really worth it?”
“…!”
Hyeon Jun-seo’s pupils dilated wide as if he was surprised.
“And what I learned during this internship is the value of Chansol. “If I feel it’s valuable enough… yes I’m willing to give up the Jin & An confirmation.”
It was an absurdly arrogant line.
What Hyun Jun-seo asked me for was proof of loyalty. A sharp point as to why we should hire someone who will go to another law firm.
But just now my response was to tell you to prove that you are worthy enough to give up on Jin & An.
An answer that is too arrogant and out-of-the-box for a single applicant to give.
If someone answers in this way during a typical internship interview no matter how talented they are they will be disqualified immediately.
‘But this isn’t your typical intern interview.’
The special nature of broadcasting.
The purpose of Law Firm Chansol’s participation in ‘High Flyer’ is not to hire competent new employees.
Of course it may be included as one of several purposes but at least it cannot be seen as the most core goal.
Promotion. Get attention. Image enhancement.
‘If you think about Hyun Jun-seo’s question again with that in mind… you can read a completely different story.’
The act of applying for an internship at a bigger and better law firm could have been interpreted as deception or disrespect toward Chansol.
Nevertheless Hyun Jun-seo did not show any signs of displeasure. I just calmly pointed it out.
‘He was trying to use me.’
If Chansol’s real purpose was to promote the law firm rather than select talent there was no reason to be displeased in the first place.
Hyun Jun-seo also didn’t ask that question to filter me out.
‘Rather he probably wanted to highlight it.’
The more I emphasize my specifications the more Chansol will appear to the viewer as a great law firm.
– This is a law firm that a law student who passed Jin & Ahn applied to? How amazing is it?
I wanted to elicit that kind of reaction. Jin-eui who brought up the Jin & Ahn story that I didn’t even write about was also there.
‘It’s like a snake.’
From Hyun Jun-seo’s perspective it was enough if I tried to somehow defend myself against this question.
The means or content of the defense were not important. What’s really important is to show ‘Jin & Ahn’s successful candidates struggling to become Chansol’s interns.’
One way was to blend in with the situation. It’s clear that they have no intention of dropping me anyway.
But that alone wasn’t enough to make it taste good. Isn’t this like being tested and used unilaterally?
So I decided to take it one step further.
‘You want to use the title of Jin & Ahn’s successful candidate? Okay I’ll do that.’
We will give the successful applicants of Jin & An an opportunity to be recognized as being better than Jin & An. So please provide me with a high-quality curriculum that will satisfy me.
It’s a very arrogant and arrogant idea but because it’s a broadcast that arrogance becomes just the right seasoning.
From the viewers’ perspective it is not enough to be stimulated by only plain good and sincere people. It gets interesting when there’s at least one guy wondering what that idiot is.
‘I asked for it to be a bit of an out-of-the-box concept.’
Entertainment Director Oh Hye-in who oversees the production of this program. Wasn’t that what she ordered me in advance in that direction?
It was an opportunity to meet Oh Hye-in’s needs.
“her.”
Hyun Jun-seo just looked at me speechless. He remained silent for a long time but soon let out a soft exclamation.
“…I think I understand why Attorney Seong praised it so highly.”
The once dull eyes were now filled with interest and curiosity.
