I Became a Law School Genius – 127

I Became a Genius Law School Student Episode 127
The first shooting day came sooner than expected.
‘I told you to come by 11 o’clock.’
The time I woke up was 6:30 am.
By the time I finished exercising and studying in the morning as I always do three hours had passed.
Considering the distance to Channel A broadcasting station it was time to leave.
“What did you visit for?”
When I arrived at the broadcasting station the staff at the information desk greeted me warmly.
‘I’ve been to all the broadcasting stations as I live.’
Behind the desk a large display was installed introducing Channel A’s representative programs. On the screen highlight scenes from entertainment shows and dramas were continuously playing without sound.
“I got to participate in the filming of your entertainment program.”
“What kind of program might this be?”
“I heard it was a ‘high flyer.’”
“ah! You mean high flyer. Please come this way. “Do you mind if I briefly check your ID?”
When I handed my ID card to the employee a temporary pass was issued in an instant.
“The entertainment department is on the third floor. “If you go you will be given guidance on future filming.”
I passed through the security gate and moved to the 3rd floor. The staff were busy coming and going concentrating on their own work.
Someone passed by pushing a costume hanger while another looked at the script and mumbled something.
‘It’s a scenery that makes you feel like it’s a broadcasting station.’
As I was looking around the complex yet orderly landscape for a while a middle-aged woman approached me and started talking to me.
“Are you by any chance Park Yu-seung?”
“Yes that’s right.”
“Welcome. “This is Oh Hye-in director of Channel A’s entertainment department.”
Oh Hye-in smiled as she handed me a business card. Perhaps because we had already talked several times by email or phone his attitude was very straightforward.
“Wow the real thing is much better.”
“haha….”

“You know what you’re doing today right?”
“I heard they were filming intern interviews.”
“that’s right.”
Oh Hye-in nodded.
According to the explanation I heard in advance there are a total of 6 interns who will ultimately appear in this ‘High Flyer’ program.
However there are a total of 24 intern applicants who will be gathered here today. It is said that in addition to people like me who were recruited directly by Oh Hye-in participation applications were also received publicly through the broadcasting station’s website.
“A lot of people applied. “Only first-year law school students can apply so I was worried about what I would do if I wasn’t popular.”
‘It’s worth it.’
Times have changed.
The law school system produces 1700 new lawyers each year. Compared to the enormous number of people there are not enough ‘good positions’ that everyone envies.
It is a structure that inevitably leads to fierce and endless competition even after graduation.
in short.
‘It’s a world where even lawyers have to do their own PR.’
Chansol Law Firm which serves as the stage for this program is already a great law firm. The number of students who applied for the opportunity to be confirmed to Chansol was probably quite high.
But that wasn’t the only benefit of appearing on ‘High Flyer.’
Rather many people would have focused on making their faces and names known through broadcasting and using them as a resume.
It is as if they are laying the groundwork to attract the attention of clients or personnel managers at larger law firms in the future.
“Today’s interview will take place on the set we prepared. Chansol’s partner lawyers will serve as interviewers and ultimately select six interns who will appear on the program.”
If selected today’s interview video can be used as broadcast material in the future. This meant that we had to keep in mind that it would appear on TV.
However there was a strange part in the explanation.
“Are Chansol’s partners making the decision to select interns?”
“Of course.”
“Then I might fall?”
Nana and Oh Hye-in who were escorting Song secretly recruited me to come here. That meant that we were needed for the broadcast picture that Oh Hye-in was painting.
But if the way we just talked about it means that even the people she invited may not be able to appear on the broadcast.
“In principle that’s true.”
But Oh Hye-in just waved her hand as if telling her to hold on to her worries.
“But do you think they would reject someone like Park Yoo-seung?
It was a voice full of firm confidence.
“You were a senior at Korea University Law School and also won the Jain Legal Argument Competition. “Is there even one applicant with better qualifications than Park Yu-seung?”
“ah.”
It was a statement that was difficult to deny. It’s not that I wasn’t but objectively speaking I was a student that any law firm would prefer.
‘It’s not just me.’
Chae Song-ha is a person with a very unique history. Chansol’s partners couldn’t help but be interested.
Unless I miserably messed up the interview the chances of not being selected were not high.
‘Because even in the original version it ended up being broadcast anyway.’
“Oh right. “I’m saying this in that sense.”

“yes?”
“Park Yoo-seung is capable enough so I think it would be okay to go with a more extreme concept.”
‘What does this mean?’
“Nowadays that kind of thing works again. A genius who may be a bit unlucky but is so capable that you can’t hate him. We will do a good job of editing. okay?”
‘Aha that’s what I mean.’
I roughly understood it.
It seems that Oh Hye-in wants to give me the role of the villain of this program.
It’s the same as directing Chae Song-ha as a hard-working heroine in the original world line. A story about using myself as a subject that creates interest and tension in viewers.
Didn’t I contact you in the first place after seeing the interview with the winner of the legal argument contest? The very interview that was processed like an arrogant genius living in his own pride. That is exactly what was expected of me.
“Since you accepted the invitation Park Yoo-seung you must have something to look forward to from this program right? “We will accommodate all your requests as much as possible.”
It wasn’t a bad deal for me either. I had no intention of worrying about image or anything like that and I needed a route to influence the program when the time came.
“I will try.”
“I’m glad we talked quickly.”
Oh Hye-in grinned.
“The interview waiting area is over there. “Then I wish you good luck.”
Following the instructions I moved to the waiting room.
There were a lot of applicants all wearing neat suits. However the way they spent the time remaining until the interview was different.
Some people memorized the answers to the expected questions they had prepared and others were seen walking around as if trying to relax.
Among them I found a familiar face.
“Park Yu-seung!”
Chae Song-ha who found me got up and waved as if she was happy to see me.
“You came early.”
“It’s an important day.”
Chae Song-ha smiled brightly as if trying to swallow the tension.
‘Celebrities are celebrities.’
The Chae Song-ha I’ve seen so far usually looks like he’s wearing a slouchy tracksuit and a cap that’s pulled down low over his eyes hiding his face.
Even at that time didn’t he give off an aura that made him think he wasn’t an ordinary person?
But now I’m wearing a tight suit and makeup for broadcast. It was overflowing with presence as if it had just jumped out of the TV screen.
Perhaps because of that I could already hear whispers from around me.
“hey. “Is that person over there…”
“I guess that’s right? Wow Chae Song-ha applied here. “The day will come when I can see it in real life.”
“Is it rude to ask you for an autograph?”
“But who is that man next to me? “It seems like we know each other.”
“It’s like something I’ve seen before… Ah I remembered it! You’re the winner of the legal argument contest. “I also saw the article.”
‘Am I even mentioned with him?’
The problem was that they were all law school students. Since the legal argument competition was a big event here people who recognized my face were coming out one by one.
“Are you mentally prepared?”
I asked Chae Song-ha trying to ignore the confusion.
“yes.”
There was no wavering in the answer like last time.
‘It’s a good sign.’
We crawled all the way to the broadcasting station but we were in trouble because the only one on our side was wandering around. I was glad that I had finally managed to organize my thoughts.
After appropriately greeting Chae Song-ha I sat down and opened my copy of the Civil Procedure Act.
I had already finished preparing for the interview last night so there was nothing more to do. It was right to save this busy time and use it for studying.
‘see. The alternate type third party litigation person and the parallel type third party litigation person…’
After waiting for a while I heard an announcement that caught my ear.
“Interviewee number 13 please enter!”
Number 13.
That was my number.
* * *
There were three lawyers sitting at the interviewer’s table.
‘These people are Chansol’s partner lawyers.’
Last evening I accessed Chansol’s official website and familiarized myself with the faces of all the members.
“I had a hard time waiting. “Please sit down.”
A lawyer sitting on the far left with a friendly look like a local guy offered me a chair. I expressed my gratitude and sat down with calm movements.
‘This person is lawyer Kang Dong-hwi.’
He is a lawyer in charge of general litigation including Detective Min at Chansol.
“Hmm.”
The strict-looking middle-aged woman sitting in the middle was lawyer Heo Min-jeong. He is an intellectual property rights expert who holds a patent attorney license.
“….”
Meanwhile sitting on the far right was a young lawyer with a thin build and sharp eyes.
‘Did you say Hyun Jun-seo?’
I think it was written on the website that I was a partner attorney in charge of corporate legal affairs. He was around mid to late 30s.
‘One for the sun and one for the north wind. And there’s even an ambush whose thoughts I don’t know.’
Speaking of standard it was a standard interview structure.
The moment Kang Dong-hwi relieved the tension Heo Min-jeong applied pressure and the embroiled interviewee showed a loophole the picture of Hyun Jun-seo asking a decisive question was clearly drawn.
I also thought that the selection process was somewhat harsh for law school students who lacked social experience.
However it wasn’t the case for me.
‘In my previous life I worked at a company for several years.’
How could anyone get caught up in such an obvious trick as the novices?
“Hey I looked at your transcript and you’re a senior at Korea University Law School?”
“I’m embarrassed but I tried hard.”
Even if Kang Dong-hwi launches him he maintains his posture without shaking.
“Why did you participate in the Jain Court Argument Competition even though your grades were good? “It doesn’t take a normal amount of time to prepare for a competition.”
“It’s for learning. “I thought I would be able to gain a more in-depth understanding of the law through writing and arguing in person.”
When Heo Min-jeong asks ‘Aren’t you wasting your time needlessly?’ he replies that it was all experience and learning.
“What motivated you to apply to our law firm?”
“Although Chansol is not large I understand that it is producing meaningful results in various specialized fields.”
Next I elaborate in detail.
“I was especially impressed by the ‘Cashpang’ game copyright dispute case handled by Attorney Minjeong Heo last year. “I remember this as the first precedent in which the authorship of a game ‘system’ that had not been explicitly subject to copyright was recognized.”
“hmm?”
“He led the case to a favorable horizon by quickly securing evidence and cooperating with the media at a stage when Taejong Law Firm which was the defendant’s representative had not yet established a task force team.”
The likeability of the interviewer Heo Min-jeong is increased by pointing out her accomplishments. No matter how much the North Wind is it is bound to back down in front of someone who paints its face with gold.
“I think it was an example of a small corporation being able to have a more efficient decision-making structure and respond quickly. “I thought that at Chansol I would be able to grow through more in-depth experience than at a large law firm.”
“…Do you usually look up legal issues a lot?”
“Not really. “I just came across it by chance because the incident was so widely known.”
If I answered vaguely that I was looking up a lot there was a high chance that I would be bombarded with follow-up questions asking me to give other examples.
It was an answer that could avoid this and also boosted Heo Min-jeong even more.
“Hmm….”
In fact Heo Min-jeong still maintained a cool demeanor but the corners of her mouth were strangely relaxed. There was no one in the world who didn’t like compliments.
The interview continued in a good mood. In the first place the specifications on the document were excellent and there was no particular answer so there was no way I could catch him by finding fault with him.
If this continues it is clear that it will be an easy victory.
“One thing.”
That was the moment I thought about it.
“I have a question.”
Hyun Jun-seo who had been silent finally opened his mouth.
‘You’re finally here.’
No matter what the hell you are talking about or any questions you ask I will answer them properly. As I was making up my mind like that Hyun Jun-seo asked me a very unexpected question.
“Attorney Seong Jin-tae. Do you know?”
“…yes?”
Why does that guy’s name appear here?
