I Became a Genius Law School Student Episode 101
Monday morning dawned.
In general it is not a very welcoming sentence. Say goodbye to your dream-like weekend. This means that each person must move their heavy body to carry the weight of life.
But today was no ordinary Monday.
“Wake up you bastard.”
Isn’t this the day when the final round of the Jain Court Argument Competition in the criminal field begins? For me it was a moment I had been looking forward to.
In particular since our turn was scheduled for 10 a.m. we couldn’t help but be nervous about Busan even more in the morning.
“It’s already 9:30. “If you are late you will be disqualified for no reason.”
-Ugh….
Iharu groaned as a crackling noise came from the other side of the radio.
According to the competition rules we had to submit our smartphones to the management upon entering the official residence.
Instead this old junk radio was provided to enable team members to communicate with each other.
– …What about your sister?
“He woke up before me. “Finally he said he would read the Criminal Procedure Act memorization one more time before entering.”
– That’s ridiculous. It’s clear he’s an iron man.
I had no choice but to agree with Lee Haru on that one level.
Surely we studied together until 3:30 a.m. yesterday and refined our strategy before breaking up?
When I woke up at seven o’clock and went to the official lounge I saw that Han Seol had already woken up a long time ago and was reading a book again.
“Get ready quickly and come out. “We’re running out of time to eat and go.”
-No.
I had no confidence in the long list of answers.
Fortunately Lee Ha-ru came out just in time.
We had a quick meal at the courthouse basement restaurant. Because a very important event was coming up everyone was busy eating.
“Our goal is one.”
I declared to the two people.
“Win the finals. There is no compromise. “You understand.”

The reason I participated in the legal argument competition was because of the performance scores to be submitted to Jang Yong-Hwan’s leadership team.
However if you win your performance score doubles.
10 points for advancing to the finals and 20 points for winning.
If you fall in the middle you all get the same 10 points so if you were aiming for it you had to aim for the win.
‘And… this guy too.’
“huh. “Let’s win.”
Han Seol nodded vigorously.
The matter between Jang Hwa-eun and Han Seol is not completely resolved yet.
After losing to me Jang Hwa-eun promised to come watch the legal argument competition but she also had a schedule as an instructor.
The only day Jang Hwa-eun can free time is Saturday.
It was the day the finals were held.
If you go crazy before then you won’t be able to eat or porridge. Hanseol has his own reasons for always aiming for the championship.
‘Well looking at that expression I’m not particularly worried.’
Han Xue is only a limited person and not weak.
In terms of hardness of heart he may actually be worse than me.
So let’s trust that it will take care of itself and focus on what we have to do.
Because the main line is not a gateway so flimsy that you can pass through it while being preoccupied with random thoughts.
After finishing the meal and heading to the court where the finals would take place Lee Ha-ru suddenly asked.
“however.”
A curious look comes from under the covered hood.
“How are you going to do that?”
“What is that?”
“why. You know what happened yesterday. Chaesongha.”
“iced coffee.”
I responded as if it was no big deal.
“I told you to abstain.”
“Hmm.”
“What are you doing?” It is impossible to teach Chae Song-ha to be at the final level in two days. “It’s natural.”
“No that’s true.”
Iharu asked back with a puzzled look on his face.
“Don’t you say there is some way?”
“I did.”
but.
“But that’s not a legal argument contest.”
If I were to translate Chae Song-ha’s order accurately it was ‘Help me make the vice president look like I’m not embarrassed at this legal argument contest.’
Specifically he was probably asking for training so that he could compete well in the finals.
But that is only a means. What she really wants is to gain the vice president’s trust and be able to continue attending law school.

As long as you are not obsessed with the form of the means you can choose any number of methods.
“Ah we’ve arrived.”
[Detective 1st Contest]
[Hankook University vs. Boseong University]
This is our first stage in the finals.
“Let’s go and see.”
The current time is 10:10. First I went through the identity verification process through a public official in charge of the staff.
There was still a little more time before the start of the contest.
Instead of going straight into the courtroom we went to a separate waiting room for participants.
“Oh my gosh a famous person has come.”
And then I ran into a short guy with glasses who was grinning in an unpleasant way.
“I am Ha Gyu-min a second year student at Boseong University Law School. “Are you Mr. Park Yoo-seung of Korea University?”
“Do you know me?”
“I watched the preliminaries video. “Your skills are amazing right?”
The other person who gave his name as Ha Gyu-min added while pushing up his glasses.
“For someone who sticks his head in this kind of repechage match.”
‘…What is this guy again?’
* * *
Ha Gyu-min a second-year student at Boseong University Law School thought there were too many idiots in the world.
In his opinion he was a very smart capable and talented person.
Although I failed the Korean University College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) I entered Boseong University which is ranked among the top three in this country.
Even in the difficult law school entrance exam I was accepted to my own law school in just one attempt.
Even after entering school Ha Gyu-min never missed the top ranking.
Not long ago I interned at Taejong a large law firm and after showing excellent performance there I was confirmed to join the company.
Ha Gyu-min’s messenger profile was full of proof of such brilliant achievements.
University diploma law school acceptance certificate Taejong internship certificate etc….
Instead other things that would normally be there were not even visible not even the nose.
For example group photos containing memories with classmates or friends or photos of sweet moments with a lover.
This is because no one wanted to hang out with Ha Gyu-min.
‘That’s because I’m stupid.’
He concluded that.
‘Because you’re jealous of me. Or maybe it’s because they are so inferior that they don’t know how great I am.’
11 years in school 4 years in college and 1.5 years in law school.
It was definitely not Ha Gyu-min’s fault that there was no one around for this long time.
The kids in his class who didn’t let him join the group in middle school. Of course Ha Gyu-min spoke somewhat bitterly to them first.
-If I don’t go around playing soccer and studying like that every day I’ll end up driving a Chinese motorcycle after I graduate.
But this was ‘advice’ from a wiser person.
Medicine that is good for the body is bitter in the mouth. There were idiots who could not serve the grateful and intelligent person as their leader but avoided him because they did not want to hear it.
Even when I was an undergraduate I confessed to a female junior in the same department but she cold-heartedly dumped me.
– I am a person whose success is unconditionally guaranteed. Unlike the idiots who waste this precious time having fun. If you come to me you won’t regret it….
– I’m sorry senior. I’m too busy studying so I don’t have time to date.
The junior who rejected him outright showed up at the school festival a week later holding hands with a senior he met at the band club.
He was exactly the type of man that Ha Gyu-min referred to as ‘idiots.’
Unfortunately these experiences did not make Ha Gyu-min reflect on himself.
Rather it further strengthened his faith.
‘I need to be more successful.’
He repeated in his mind.
‘No matter how stupid they are let them recognize my greatness and bow their heads.’
Then no one will be able to ignore you anymore.
In fact what he has done has already been an objectively great achievement that no one can look down on.
So even if we piled something on top of it it wouldn’t make much of a difference.
The problem lay elsewhere.
Unfortunately it was a truth that Ha Gyu-min could never realize.
Participating in the legal argument competition was ultimately part of building these achievements.
If possible you must achieve the best results.
Ha Gyu-min prepared thoroughly for the competition and did not forget to understand the skills of his competitors.
Of course we also thoroughly analyzed preliminary videos from other law schools.
‘What is this guy?’
Then I came across Park Yu-seung’s video.
‘Why do you seem to be so… good at it?’
Park Yoo-seung’s performance in the video was overwhelming.
His understanding of legal principles is excellent and his method of using precedents is sophisticated. But that wasn’t the essence.
That composure as if you were on top of the head of the person who designed the problem. The calmness to find the answer without panicking in any situation.
Park Yoo-seung had a maturity that was unbelievable for a first-year student who had only been in school for less than half a year.
‘no. ‘It must be an illusion.’
However Ha Gyu-min tried to ignore the instinctive alarm.
There’s no way a man with that kind of snobbish gangster-like look is a talented person. Isn’t the detective originally an empty house?
It’s just that the opponent is so shabby that it appears to shine. If I were in that position I could have done much better.
It was not possible to say for certain whether it was truly the result of a cool-headed analysis.
When Ha Gyu-min looked at Park Yoo-seung he felt unbearable irritation rising inside him.
Unlike him he is tall and has a slightly dirty look but his face is quite smooth. A sign that said Hankook University Law School which I wanted to go to for so long but ended up rejecting.
The look in his eyes that shows the trust and bond his teammates give him throughout the contest.
Park Yoo-seung had so many things that Ha Gyu-min had never had.
Of course I could never admit that that was the cause of my discomfort.
“For someone who sticks his head in this kind of repechage match.”
Instead Ha Gyu-min facing Park Yoo-seung blurted out this.
“…What do you mean by that?”
“haha. “Was that too honest?”
He used his courage and provoked.
“Honestly what kind of times are these days? This is not a high-tech capitalist society where money is prestige. “Nowadays public office is just a battle for those who couldn’t get into big law firms.”
“her.”
“In addition the legal argument competition is insurance for when you are pushed out of the competition so it is a battle of revival of losers.”
Park Yoo-seung who was drooling for a moment as if thinking about something soon asked as if he was shocked.
“Then why did you come to ‘Resurrection of the Losers’?”
“aha. “Me.”
Ha Gyu-min continued as if he had been waiting for that question.
“Because I’m aiming to win the ‘Geom Club Big’ triple crown. “Unlike other idiots like you.”
Geomclbig was a term used to refer to large law firms such as prosecutors and law clerks which are the three most preferred career paths for law school students. This is the career path of the top students who are said to have succeeded in law school if they have achieved even one of the three.
However because there is another sky above the sky although it is extremely rare there are often crazy people who win the three Geom Club Big crowns.
It was that title that Ha Gyu-min was aiming for.
“Do you see here?”
Ha Gyu-min rummaged around in his arms found something and held it out.
It was none other than a printed copy of Taejong’s internship completion certificate and employment confirmation email which was his number one point of pride.
He carried these documents with him wherever he went as if they were good luck charms.
Because that was the source of Ha Gyu-min’s confidence.
“I have already received confirmation from Taejong one of the top four law firms among large law firms. Where is that? “I was also invited to an ‘unofficial recruitment briefing session’ held by Jin & An this summer for confirmed applicants from other law firms.”
If I had said this even a fool would have understood.
He is different from the idiots who aim for a defeatist contest called a legal argument contest because the only place they can go is public office or because it is difficult to compete based on their grades.
In addition to being the confirmer of King Taejong he was also invited to Jin & An which everyone envies.
Nevertheless he did not rest on his laurels and came out here to achieve the honor of winning three gold medals.
No matter how good you were it was natural that you had no choice but to kneel in front of yourself like this.
“…sigh.”
However Park Yoo-seung’s reaction was a little strange.
“Chuuuuu.”
He was covering his mouth and shaking his shoulders.
It looked as if he was holding back laughter.
