    Chapter Index

“Is this, is this my son?”

Chen Zisheng looked at the baby in the swaddling clothes in a daze, a small face wrinkled, is nestled there asleep, can not help but whisper: “Why the other children are white and tender, mine is so ugly, and I can not see where the similarity with this son.”

Xu let out a low laugh, “All newborn children are like this. When you were first born, you were also like this, and you’ll be fine when you grow out of it.”

When the nursemaid saw the two Chen Mansion masters, she hurriedly got up and bowed, saying enthusiastically, “Grand Master, may I hold the little young master?”

Chen Zisheng looked slightly nervously at the infant in the hands of the breastfeeding mother, and after hesitating for a moment, he carefully stretched out his hands.

The wet nurse smiled and handed the baby into his arms, and Chen Zisheng took it gently, his movements slightly awkward but with anticipation in his eyes.

He gazed down at the little being in his arms, the wrinkled little face, the slightly closed eyes, the tiny tip of his nose, all of which looked incredibly cute in his eyes at the moment.

“This little one, crumpled, has some weight to it.”

Chen Zisheng murmured, gently rocking the baby while scrutinizing it. He couldn’t help but gently touch the child’s cheek, and the delicate touch of the skin softened his heart.

“Master, give the little lord a name?”

Chen Zisheng naturally prepared a few names early on, but when he really picked up such a small and soft baby, he only felt that a thousand words were not enough to be used on it.

“No, my son’s name, I still have to ask the Great Confucian to ponder over it well before I can do so.”

Xu’s eyes flickered when she saw this.

She looked at the infant and softly said, “Zi Sheng, this time Caidie has suffered a lot to give birth to your son, in the future you should treat her better.”

Although Xu did not like Caidie much, she was more willing to promote Caidie, an honest and decent family son, than the overly outstanding Xiang Capsicum.

A maidservant or so, no matter how much she is lifted up, she is nothing more than a lackey of the Chen family.

Looking at the child’s sleeping face, a gentle smile spread across Chen Zisheng’s face and he nodded.

Xu paused and added, “According to reason, a concubine’s son born to a concubine should be moved to the main house to be taught and raised–“

Chen Zisheng frowned, turned around and carefully handed the child over to the nursemaid, signaling for her to step back.

The nursemaid hurriedly retreated with the infant in her arms, thoughtfully closing the door for the two masters.

Only then did Chen Zisheng coldly say, “She is not yet worthy of raising my son.”

“With the precedent of Song Feng Yuan, it’s not that we can’t give Caidie this decency, but Shen is at least the daughter of a Xiu Cai, and Caidie, a maid, where to raise a good child?”

Xu frowned, bitterly said: “And you have been reluctant to talk to my mother, that Xie in the end is guilty of what faults, so that you are so disgusted? If not the Xie family has not been pursued, I am really afraid that this and in-laws away from the heart.”

Chen Zisheng’s face went completely cold as he mocked, “How could that be? My son has always listened to my mother’s words and will never repudiate Xie’s daughter, so that the Xie family and the Chen family, and the Xu family, will remain unbreakable and good in-laws.”

Xu choked, and just then, a surprised call came from the main room.

    “Auntie Die, you’re awake!”

Cai Die had just opened her eyes when she heard a joyful voice coming from her ears, and she desperately looked over at what appeared to be an unfamiliar little maid.
