    Chapter Index

“Failure to establish territory. Transition space annihilation. “7th experiment completed.”

    “You’re wrong.”

Craig shook his head as he listened to the announcement that rang softly.

“The process of manipulating the artificial domain was unstable. “If the buttons don’t match right from the start there’s no way things will go well.”

    A huge underground cavity.

An enclosed space where not even a sip of air seems to be able to escape with thick steel plates measuring several meters on all visible walls.

More than a dozen warlocks are busy adjusting the magic circle that fills a space hundreds of meters in diameter.

The black magical power continued to rise and disappear slowly melting into space.

Craig looked down at the bottom of the cavity for a while in silence then turned his head.

Where I looked there were dozens of monitors and more people than that number diligently tapping away at their keyboards.

    “How does the algorithm work?”

“The logical structure has been completed but the moment the technique operates the artificial intelligence becomes tangled and does not work properly.”

A man with thick glasses standing at the very back with his arms crossed responded.

“Furthermore after the experiment is over the algorithm deteriorates into a different form each time so backing up the data is useless.”

A strange phenomenon that cannot be explained through thorough logical structure and calculations alone.

“For now I can only say that we need to collect more data on the artificial intelligence response stage immediately after the program.”

The bespectacled man grinned as he looked at Craig who was silent.

“Well it’s good because it’s still fun. “You’re not the first person to try something like this but it’s rare for someone to choose such an interesting theme.”

    “……..”

“Could God live inside a hard disk? This has been a topic that has been talked about for decades in all kinds of academic circles regardless of the religion we simply believe in. “I think this can give new stimulation to old people who are stuck in old ways.”

The man was talking freely about what he wanted even with Craig a powerful warlock in front of him.

They already fully understand that if they do not borrow their abilities at this moment this task will become extremely difficult.

Craig looked at the man blankly and then turned the conversation around.

    “There isn’t much time.”

A low voice came from under his beard.

“I heard that the temporary base set up to collect data from Falcion was attacked. “The speed of tracking this movement is faster than expected.”

“Are they agents of a megacity? “I remembered them as very slow and lazy people… but it seems things have changed in recent years.”

The man who responded indifferently spoke while operating the computer.

“The pillars that were installed to disrupt the city’s ley lines are also being removed at a rapid pace. After the meeting they managed to secure another power source with the funds they received from investors but how long Zaun can endure is a completely different question. “The results must be delivered within at least one month.”

“It would be difficult if there wasn’t much time left for those bandits to tank.”

Craig frowned silently as he looked at the man who was grinning like it was someone else’s business.

The man’s expression was extremely relaxed even when he saw a criminal popping a human head like a balloon.

That’s probably because the god that programmers including men serve is an even bigger monster than Craig.

    It’s ironic.

The fact is that the fanatics known for their most extreme beliefs are masters of computer programming tasks that require sophisticated and detailed logic.

However if he had not been able to accept this contradiction the man named Craig would have never existed in this world.

Sometimes I look back on the moment when I didn’t accept the deal the city government offered me.

There was always only one answer.

And in order to resist those monsters we have no choice but to summon the same monsters.

Even now that he has become a city-scale criminal what he ultimately wants has not changed.

The infinitely dull wizard’s eyes become soft when he sees the children moving after him below.

    That was it.
