Drug-Eating Genius Mage – 70
by Jessie@AFNCC
Early in the morning, an unseasonably warm wind was blowing at Labatenon University.
Warmth is circulated and cold air is released through a vast barrier spread throughout the university grounds.
Lennok had no idea how much this process would cost but it seemed clear that the university was paying all of that money without hesitation.
Labatenon a magic university that stands at the forefront among educational institutions directly under the city government.
This place which had been established by investing a huge amount of money thanks to the attitude of wizards who did not want to be bound by the magic tower was completely different from the cold and dark landscape of Balkan that Lennok had experienced so far.
Was the air enjoyed by those who had both luck and talent so warm and cozy?
I was lost in thought as I felt the warm wind blowing.
“Ha ha ha!”
“One two! “One two!”
Even though it is morning there are quite a few people devoted to exercising throughout the brightly decorated grounds of the university.
The appearance of a beautiful and ancient building like a palace. A landscape of green and fresh vegetation even in winter. The streets of the university are neat and tidy.
The sight of students moving around energetically and focusing on self-improvement didn’t seem too bad to Lennok.
Learning magic does not necessarily mean you have to neglect training your body but it is full of advantages.
Lennok was forced to tinker with other abilities and equipment because of this damn penalty. Eden who was the boss of Siger Bang was also a skilled wizard but didn’t he have a sturdy physique?
It was truly the right attitude for a wizard to prepare for close combat in case of an emergency situation.
While thinking that I was about to pass the exercisers and walk to Aris’ lab when I suddenly heard someone running behind me.
Even considering that you are running your steps are quite light.
A refreshing scent that can be felt even when running from behind.
Dark navy blue hair casually passes by Lennok and runs forward.
His stable posture which can be recognized at a glance even while wearing training clothes is impressive but he is completely unrelated to Lennok.
I thought about how the first year of the year would bloom and let it pass by indifferently.
Until the towel tied around her waist came loose and flew towards Lennok.
“…….?”
Flap!
I inadvertently used my magic power to grab the towel but stopped when I felt the gaze of the woman looking back.
I had no choice but to grab the towel floating in the air with my bare hands and end up fumbling it in the air.

“……..”
A strange feeling of your body moving on its own even though you clearly saw it and stretched out your hand.
I laughed out loud at my ridiculous athleticism even to myself.
A body that can react to the attacks that superhumans pour in every second but if it does not use magical power it will miss the towel fluttering in front of its eyes.
In the future I felt that I would have to spare no effort in providing any assistance including magical power in all matters involving the use of the body.
‘It’s probably the same with bikes. At least you shouldn’t be greedy until you create a plausible boarding assistance magic.’
It is different from a car that has some safety features.
Sebastian hinted that he should come to him whenever he wanted a bike but in reality Lennok needed his own preparation to ride such a thing.
‘It seems like there’s nothing you can’t do if you revise and improve the principles of shooting assist magic but… I won’t know until I try it myself.’
While he was immersed in thought while holding a towel a woman in training clothes walked forward and looked up at Lennok.
A cold expression with rich navy blue hair tied in one ponytail.
If Aris has a hint of coldness amidst her sophistication the woman standing in front of her is a beauty who looks as if she were just wrapped in ice.
It wasn’t until Lennok saw that face that he remembered who she was.
Priscilla Leonix.
A student taking Professor Aris Richellen’s Elemental Studies class and also a blood relative of an excellent wizard family called the Leonix family.
And one of the talented young wizards who resisted the hands of numerous magic towers and entered Labatenon University.
As always people are overly interested in other people’s stories and like to talk.
These were just stories he overheard while helping Aris prepare for class but Lennok already knew everything about her background and what kind of magic she used.
Even the fact that she is only a second-year undergraduate student is already receiving love calls from various labs.
“……..”
Just as Lennok recognized her Scylla also seemed to recognize him and frowned subtly.
When she handed him the towel without saying a word she quickly reached out but Lennok withdrew his hand and took a step back.
Naturally Sheila’s expression frowned.
“What are you doing?”
Instead of answering Lennok silently pointed behind her with his finger.
As the towel fell the contents of her pocket seemed to have come out with it and all kinds of items were lined up on the floor after her.
“……”
Silas turned around with a nonchalant expression and quickly gathered up her belongings but Lennok did not miss the fact that the tips of her ears were stained red.
A cell phone with a broken screen an earphone with no lip gloss left on one side.
Looking at the items he has picked up it appears that he is quite sloppy compared to what he appears on the outside.
In fact he stopped her as she turned around forgetting even the towel she had spilled at first and as she turned around she spoke first from behind Lennok’s back.
“I heard your conversation with the professor.”
“yes?”
“You can’t use magical power at all.”
Lennok turned his head in silence as he saw Scylla looking up at him with a slightly awkward expression.
‘I’ve had a conversation with Aris about magic-related topics… once recently.’
I often helped her prepare for lectures and we spent a lot of time talking about various things and it seemed like I overheard their conversation by chance.

While I was quietly remembering Silas spoke.
“You’d better be careful.”
“……..”
“If they find out that the assistant professor is not a wizard more people will naturally bite him.”
Lennok laughed lightly at the unexpected remark.
It was a word I never thought would come out of that cold expression.
“Are you worried about me now?”
“…I don’t have much interest in Professor Richellen’s lab but other people might be different.”
“okay.”
Lennok said with a grin.
“But everyone who needs to know already knows. Especially if it’s someone who doesn’t like me being here.”
“…..yes?”
It’s okay to hide it for a day or two but if you’re hanging out with students at university and don’t use any magic power you’re bound to get noticed.
Moreover when Aris registered Lennok as an assistant professor at the Office of Undergraduate Studies he would have registered him as a mystic without magical power so there would already be a certain amount of rumor among the tight-lipped employees.
In the meantime if others decide to start digging up Lennok’s identity it will inevitably be revealed that he is pretending to be an ordinary person without magical powers.
A poor disguise that wouldn’t be surprising if it collapsed at any time.
That was the reality of the third name Evan Bylon.
Scylla looked at Lennok with a somewhat disapproving expression then slowly turned her head and said.
“My older sister had no talent for manipulating magic so she couldn’t adapt to this kind of life and ran away.”
“……..”
“Of course it’s just something you have to deal with but… I don’t want to see someone like that again.”
“You don’t have to worry too much.”
Lennok answered while maintaining a grin.
“Even if I can’t handle magical power there are plenty of things I can do.”
“……”
“Also if I hang out with the students here wouldn’t I never know when I might awaken my magical powers?”
Every time I encounter this kind of unexpected goodwill I realize once again how important meeting Aris was to him.
A favor that was not strictly transactional or conflicted with interest was a type of favor that Lennok found difficult to understand and difficult to turn away from.
So in order to maintain a life in this sunny area you need to know how to take care of yourself on your own.
Dealing with such shady feelings and tricks was something Lennok was very familiar with.
Scylla looked at Lennoc with an incomprehensible expression and turned around.
Lennok silently waved the towel she had forgotten.
“I forgot Priscilla’s towel.”
“…………”
Now I see that not only was he sloppy but he was also forgetful.
disturbance
“Lenok said the department has been receiving a lot of inquiries about you.”
“……..”
I heard from Scylla that there was a hint but I never thought Aris would already be aware of it.
In a way this is natural.
Aris Richelen is neither that incompetent nor tactless.
He was certainly not the kind of person who would clearly recognize a problem but ignore it right in front of his eyes.
Solid wood with a strong woody scent. Vivid breathing plants in a spacious office.
All kinds of books crowded into spacious bookshelf and a pile of unidentifiable documents piled up on the desk.
“ha…..”
Meanwhile Aris sighed with a troubled expression.
“This was my mistake.”
“What do you mean?”
“It was my mistake not to consider the aftermath when I brought you to my lab… I didn’t think the reaction would be this violent.”
“hmm……”
I don’t mean to deny that but Lennok didn’t think she would even consider such a thing to begin with.
Even though she believes that Lennok does not have any magical powers she is a person who views people solely based on their essence to the point where she recommends research based solely on his abilities.
It must have been difficult for someone who approached things happening around them with good intentions to even consider the negative emotions that other students had.
“We have sent a notice to the administrative office so they will issue notices to students all at once. “In particular we have decided to issue disciplinary action up to and including expulsion for cases where ordinary people without magical powers are harmed in any way.”
“… That’s a very bold move.”
“There is no reason to waste your abilities and talents on useless things. Preventing that from happening is also my responsibility to my researchers.”
Aris’ eyes shone coldly.
“In addition I will make sure to set an example so that something like this does not happen again.”
“……..”
She is basically a good person but that does not mean she is just obedient and gentle.
Rather as a high-level wizard it would be natural for him to show a fairly ruthless attitude if he is considered an enemy.
But as soon as Lennok heard Aris’ words he shook his head.
“I’m sorry but if the professor steps forward public opinion will only get worse.”
“……yes?”
Even though Aris scouted Lennok for his theoretical research ability there are a few things that must be done once he becomes an assistant professor.
Helping her prepare for class collecting and organizing data from related experiments or samples and explaining things before class.
At least as long as you belong to the framework of a university it is natural to inevitably clash with students.
Announcement through the administrative office would be helpful but Aris’ direct and blatant protection of Lennok would easily cause resentment even from those who had no feelings towards him.
It would have been much more reasonable to leave it alone for now and over time pick out students who did not like Lennok.
Aris also immediately understood what Lennok was saying and nodded.
“Indeed… you are saying that you will find a realistic solution while taking my reputation into consideration. “I wasn’t looking at the wrong person.”
She seemed somewhat impressed by Lennok’s thoughtfulness but it wasn’t actually that difficult.
It’s just that she couldn’t see the students in such a negative light so it was just an idea that was difficult to come up with.
“yes. As the professor said it won’t be difficult as long as you bring along some self-defense artifacts.”
….I also managed to get a decent artifact from her.
In the end Lennok was able to leave her study only after receiving a very satisfactory answer from Aris.
Aris’ lecture is scheduled in Lecture Building 3 today.
Because a magic demonstration is required there are a few items Lennok needs to prepare but he has already memorized the entire manual so there shouldn’t be any major problems.
As I was about to load the gem catalyst that was to be used in this lecture onto a cart and enter the lecture hall someone suddenly called Lennok aside.
“Assistant Professor Bylon.”
A female student whose face I had seen in the classroom was smiling awkwardly.
The name… I think it was called Beira. There’s nothing special about it so I can barely remember the name.
“Do you have anything to do?”
“yes. I feel like the demonstration equipment that will be used in today’s lecture is not working well. “I would like to ask the assistant professor to check.”
“……..”
Just by hearing those words it is clear that she wants to play a trick.
As Lennok chuckled the polite smile on her lips twitched.
However perhaps because he was conscious of the gaze of the other students in the lecture hall Beira maintained his initial attitude until the end and slowly turned around and began to guide him.
As I walked along the fluttering hem of my blouse I noticed a large piece of equipment the size of a bed located under the spacious blackboard inside the classroom.
The joints are painted matte black on the body which emits a pure white metallic glow. Even the blue magic light leaking from the glass that illuminates the interior.
Lennok knows roughly what this equipment is having read the manual in advance.
This equipment was a product of magic engineering equipment brought in by Aris Richellen to explain the principles of elemental magic and had the function of visualizing the process of splitting and combining the injected magic power with the naked eye.
It was surprising that Aris was knowledgeable enough in magic engineering to personally design and design such complex high-level equipment but what was more impressive was her dedication to putting in so much effort for her students.
In a way it was only natural that there were so many students who envied her and people who wanted to enter the lab.
Other students were already crowded in front of the equipment trying their best to get it to work.
It looks like the problem arose because the students were trying to operate it without permission before class but if it is left like this someone will have no choice but to take responsibility and either pay the cost or face disciplinary action.
It was natural that attention was drawn to the assistant professor who appeared naturally.
After seeing Priscilla standing with her arms crossed at a slight distance from the students Lennok turned his eyes towards the equipment.
“Do you want me to check this equipment?”
“yes.”
Lennok who saw Beira’s smiling face fell into deep thought.
‘You didn’t destroy the equipment yourself.’
In this world where magic has developed leaving a trace like that will only end up as a handshake strangling you.
It was correct to view it as a clever attempt to naturally involve Lennok and share responsibility for something that would end up being the student’s responsibility.
‘Are you trying to achieve what you want by taking advantage of the situation? ‘You’re a wizard.’
The problem is that it is impossible to know the extent of the problem with the equipment….
‘If it’s like this it’ll be okay.’
Lennok secretly measured the distance to Aris and immediately raised his magic power.
Lennok’s magic management ability honed through numerous battles was already sharper than a blade and more stealthy than sound.
Of course other students including Beira did not notice at all that Lennok was raising his magic power right in front of them.
It’s shaky…!!
Just extend your magic power to the equipment spin it around dig into the inner circuit and check for the problem.
Lennok’s understanding of magic engineering and magic manipulation ability combined to determine the status of the equipment took only 2 seconds.
Although I don’t know any of the specific parts and names of the equipment it’s quick to realize which function has a problem.
As this is a device designed by Aris its internal environment is designed with great precision and sensitivity.
When she handled the device herself there would have been no problem since she would operate it with her excellent magic manipulation skills but it seemed like the students were messing around with it out of curiosity and went crazy.
“Do you know where the problem is?”
“During the magic injection process the conversion circuit that changes the movement so that it can be visually confirmed is tangled. “It appears that a mistake was made in the process of pouring in more magical power than can be injected.”
“……..yes?”
Beira’s answer came somewhat late.
And the faces of other students looking at him with puzzled expressions.
It was only after seeing Scylla with a slightly confused expression from a distance that Lennok realized his mistake and clicked his tongue.
‘I should have at least pretended to touch the equipment. ‘I made a mistake.’
The process of looking into the internal design of the equipment was so interesting that I forgot about my surroundings for a moment.
As was the case in the battle with the wizard sometimes Lennok’s own sense of inquiry or curiosity came out before reason.
Lennok who thought quickly continued speaking leisurely.
“On the outside it may seem like there is no problem but if you listen to the sound coming from the equipment you can tell there is a problem.”
As Lennok said that he very naturally succeeded in bending over and touching the equipment.
When I lightly tap on the empty space inside using magical power a huge vibration sound erupts as if I had been waiting.
Ugh…!!
“Ugh!”
“Why does it sound like this…”
“Isn’t it a big problem?”
Leaving behind the students who were perplexed by the obviously strange noise Lennok extended his magic power into the equipment.
“Anyway the core operating principle is parts that artificially implement elemental magic. “If that part is not damaged other problems can be resolved simply by making some external adjustments.”
At the same time in order to divert students’ attention they explain the theories that are in their heads appropriately.
“The most basic principle of transporting magical power beyond the wizard’s control is artificial propulsion. After that we alternate between expansion and contraction aiming to take as much of the initially delivered force as possible without losing it.”
I started slowly adjusting the magic thread which had been extended using manipulation-type magic by flowing and attaching it to various parts of the equipment and pulling and pushing it very slightly.
By flowing magical power into the circuit the tangled parts are untangled and the area around the worn inlet is ground together to expand the usable area.
“If there is a problem with the circuit that transmits horsepower it may not be able to withstand the expansion and contraction that occurs during the transportation process and may be damaged.”
There is nothing that can be done about parts that are already worn out but as long as the inlet parts are improved there will be no problems with the product’s performance.
The moment Lennok came to that conclusion and took his hand off the inside of the equipment the equipment which had been rattling noisily as if it were a lie stabilized and began to produce a pleasing rotational sound.
Weeeeeee….!
“So it is best for students not to mess with the materials needed for class.”
As Lennok said that he got up from his knees and stood up.
“……”
The students just looked at Lennok with surprised expressions and said nothing.
It’s not just about fixing simple equipment it’s about tinkering with magic engineering equipment designed by Aris herself.
A complex facility that even university students with a talent for magic cannot touch.
Everyone here knew that it was impossible to notice a problem just by looking at it and fix it on the spot without in-depth knowledge of magic theory and magic engineering.
In just an instant Lennok felt that his perspective was changing but he did not stop there.
Instead he erased the businesslike expression he had been wearing up to this point and grinned.
“I don’t know who did it but I’ll keep it a secret from the professor. “Be careful from now on.”
“Thank you!”
Laughter erupted here and there along with the greeting of a slightly awkward-looking young man.
“Stupid bastard that’s why I told you not to play around!”
“Anyway I hear you do all kinds of strange things to impress the professor.”
“Just pay attention to class idiot!!”
Will just one incident like this change the disapproving views of Lennok?
Lennok didn’t think that far ahead.
Beira who was hiding behind the students and looking at him had a mixture of surprise and disapproval rather than satisfaction.
However it was enough to leave a positive impression on most students who had no special feelings towards him to begin with.
As Lennok thought so he took a step back and slowly scanned the classroom.
Because I needed to see how other students react to this minor incident that just happened.
The sight of Silas turning her head as if it didn’t matter and the young male student calmly falling asleep.
Even the brawny-haired man with a sturdy physique scoffed at the crowd surrounding him from afar.
Although there are many different students what Lennok wants is simple.
Preparations to nip in the bud those who were interfering with his research life were progressing little by little but surely.
Promising the future
I’m so tired…!!
Taaaang!!
“hmm…..”
Late at night.
Lennok’s house. Separately sealed laboratory.
Before you know it the wide open window has suddenly been replaced with a solid iron bar and the wall that was previously covered with old wallpaper has a thick iron plate stuck into it.
As the time spent in the laboratory for magical research increased the amount of objects and environments Lennok invested in the laboratory gradually increased.
It is very important to feel a sense of accomplishment every time you invest time.
It allows you to be sure now not later that what you are doing is not wrong and that the time you are sweating is not in vain.
The effort and investment Lennok put into magic and his belief in his talent had already gone far beyond a simple sense of duty.
But even so creating new magic is not always easy.
“As expected things don’t go as planned….”
As Lennok said this he looked down at the small model of a motorcycle on the floor.
The model was shaking unsteadily from side to side with its two wheels attached to the floor.
There is only one reason why the motorcycle model is balancing on its own without any physical force.
Boarding assistance magic.
Lennok was developing magic that would be essential for handling motorcycles and other means of transportation in the future.
Practical know-how about unique magic learned while studying Eden’s research journal.
Theoretical knowledge improved through constant discussions with Aris greatly helped take Lennok’s magic to the next level but it was merely an application of existing laws to his magic system.
A series he had not dealt with. Or creating a completely new unique magic can only give us a reasonable estimate of its possibilities.
It was an inefficient task with Lennok’s current horsepower and assets.
However it is an auxiliary magic with relatively limited uses low magical power consumption and simple principles.
Among them I was thinking that I could improve the shooting auxiliary magic and create a new auxiliary magic so I was trying it…
‘It’s too impractical.’
It was a success to disassemble and remodel the magic principles used in shooting assist magic.
Considering the fact that most wizards can barely even understand the principles of magic it would not be an exaggeration to say that Lennok has already moved beyond being a simple magic user and has entered the level of truly exploring magic.
However the problem was that the two fields of shooting and boarding were not actually compatible.
Basically shooting assist magic focuses on strengthening the act of shooting and the areas that Lennok has improved have also been carried out in a way that takes advantage of the strengths of those areas.
However the boarding assistance magic must pay attention to basic balance safety control and speed adjustment that can assist Lennok’s clumsy body.
The problem was that if you delve into this part you end up going beyond the scope of auxiliary magic.
In short it is not good value for money.
If you put in horsepower and hit it it will somehow turn but what’s the point if you use up all the horsepower while riding the bike?
To put it bluntly this is like walking around with horsepower rather than oil flowing through the exhaust port.
Regardless of whether you feel the need for transportation it would be much more advantageous to just take a taxi if fuel efficiency is not this good.
“…You can’t be full from the first spoonful.”
Regardless of his transcendental talent and amazing intuition that allow him to delve into magic the magic power and assets that Lennoc can use are limited.
The fact that no suitable answer can be found even after thinking about it further proves that the limits of the functions allowed by Lennok’s knowledge and assets are limited for now.
It would be great if he could find the perfect answer here but even if he doesn’t Lennok doesn’t get disappointed or collapse.
An infinite desire to explore magic and endless patience were also among his talents as a wizard.
Lennok was so sad that he organized the notes piled up on his desk.
When he first escaped from the factory his magic research which had only consisted of three notepads was now growing to a level that could not be contained in a single notebook.
