Drug-Eating Genius Mage – 58
by Jessie@AFNCC
“My name is Evan Bylan, and he will be working with me in my lab starting today.”
Late afternoon. Rich sunlight streaming in beyond the window.
A woman’s sonorous voice resonates in a classroom full of people.
Lennok scratched his face in silence as he received countless stares.
To be honest the views of the students sitting in the classroom… did not feel very favorable.
Aris continued speaking with a calm expression as if she was aware of the atmosphere of the classroom.
“Evan has significant achievements in the field of magic theory and has excellent theoretical qualifications. “Basically my job is to help with research in my lab but sometimes I may be called to lectures to help so I’ll introduce you to them in advance.”
“Nice to meet you all.”
As I smile faintly and say hello I hear small greetings from a few people sitting in the front row.
Most of the other students either frowned at him or seemed completely uninterested in him.
Lennok’s expression was calm as he had not expected this situation from the moment he decided to enter her lab.
When Aris winked at Lennok Lennok slightly lowered his head and immediately left the classroom.
“Then let’s start today’s class. As explained in the last lecture the core of the magical power linkage that makes up hydraulic magic is….”
Leaving behind the faint sound of Aris’ voice coming through the door Lennok raised his hand and smoothed his face.
The disguise magic was still working smoothly.
Although I unintentionally showed Lennok’s true face to Aris there is no reason to do so to other students at the university.
A student who runs into you on the street recognizes Lennok’s original face? It was a terrible thing to even imagine.
So Lennok made the excuse that he had a disguise artifact asked Aris’s understanding and changed his face to that of Evan Bylan.
I don’t expect much. It was enough to be able to separate my status here from Lennok’s position.
I slowly raised my head and took in the wide hallway.
University of Labatenon.
A magic university that I had only heard about. It was the first day I set foot in an educational institution created to train wizards.
It is said that the city government has invested money directly and is continuously managing the facility but indeed the facilities are flawless.
Neat marble and gorgeous chandeliers. A thick carpet that cushions your shoes and a hallway that spreads warm heat even as winter approaches.
It is a flawless high-end facility with a refreshing scent that fills your nostrils.
At this level it is so luxurious that it is not far behind the office of Panoa who is the head of the planning team at Dyke.

‘I guess I should go back to the lab first.’
Aris’ laboratory is a separate building from the lecture building and occupies an entire two-story building.
I checked it out briefly when I first came here but it was full of equipment and books that Lennok had never seen before so it seemed like he could spend some time alone.
Or rather the moment I was about to take a step forward while thinking that I wish Aris’ lecture would end late.
Paang!
Someone walked out from the back of the hallway and fired a sharp barrage of magical energy at Lennok’s back.
Archwood
Wedge!
“……”
It was too sharp to be a coincidence a bit light to be an attack and on the contrary it was quite heavy to be a provocation.
A blatant conglomerate of magical power that clearly shows the intention to suppress the opponent rather than trying to gauge his or her capabilities.
It’s so sloppy that Lennok could grab it by its hair and turn it around right now.
‘What should I do….’
In that short period of time when the magical body flies there are more than seven ways to deal with it that immediately come to mind.
It doesn’t seem difficult to beat the opponent who tried this trick to the brink of death but if you do that you will lose the sense of accomplishment in going to college.
At least within Aris’s line of sight I had to act as a researcher who was reasonably knowledgeable in theory.
Lennok’s head rotated quickly and he quickly found the optimal move to beat the opponent.
‘This should be enough.’
By chance I pretended to turn my head slightly and twisted my magic to slightly change the direction of the aggregate.
The operation of magical power so secretly that no one can notice it.
With just a brief touch the aggregate easily escapes the caster’s control and shoots straight into the ceiling.
Clink!!
The luxurious chandelier hanging from the ceiling is completely destroyed.
Lennok closes the door to the loud noise echoing in the middle of the hallway and the classroom immediately becomes noisy.
The door burst open and Aris strode out and at the same time Lennok turned his head and looked surprised.
“Evan. “What is going on?”
While Aris was slightly frowning her blue eyes after checking the broken chandelier in the hallway a drowsy voice was heard from behind her.
“There was a mistake in mana control.”
The person who walked towards me with the sound of his shoes was a tall-looking young man with his hair swept to one side.
Even though he has a sharp jawline and thick eyebrows the smile on his lips is extremely soft and makes his appearance look good.
He gave Aris a friendly smile and slightly bowed his head.
“professor. “It’s been a while.”
However Aris did not respond to his greeting and asked straight away.
“Archwood. What does it mean that you made a mistake in mana control? “I’d like to hear an explanation as to why the chandelier was smashed right next to my researcher.”
Now it seems that the reason Aris reacted sharply was not just because the class was interrupted.
Despite Aris’ cold words the man called Archwood skillfully managed his expression and spoke.
“It appears that he was assembling the magic power alone in the hallway and accidentally recoiled. Magical energy leapt out of my hand and suddenly headed towards the sky.”

“……”
Lennok looked at Archwood’s face with an absurd expression as he lied calmly without even putting saliva on his lips but he even smiled slightly at Lennok.
Although it is my first time seeing this person I can guess his mentality and noble world to some extent.
Despite failing to achieve what he wanted Archwood came up with the most efficient way to humiliate Lennok in front of Aris and the many students watching in the classroom.
Lennok who broke the chandelier will be branded as a careless researcher who uses magic in the hallways and as a loser who cannot even handle his own magic properly.
Even so it is obvious how students who are not very favorable will view Lennok.
‘It’s a little fun though.’
I’ve experienced this kind of territoriality more than once but this is the first time I’ve seen someone so blatantly and deliberately trying to mess with Lennok.
Did you say Archwood?
If Lennok was really an ordinary person with no magic power or abilities I would have been left helpless by his tricks.
But he had no idea that Lennok had even this situation in mind.
As evidence Archwood was only now realizing that Aris’ gaze towards him contained a faint feeling of contempt.
His expression which was wearing the mask of a gentle smile shakes slightly.
“……professor?”
“Let me ask you again. “Are you saying this happened because Evan made a mistake while using his magic power?”
“Yes but….”
Even though he answered his face had no clue what was wrong.
Rather it is even more strange to realize why this situation has come to this point.
How would Aris know without first being informed that the researcher competent enough to scout the lab himself could not use magical power at all?
And that’s why… the contrast between Archwood’s calm expression and the lie makes it seem even more heinous.
Aris who was now looking up at Archwood with a completely cold expression slowly opened her lips.
“Archwood. If you touch my researcher like this one more time I won’t let you go. Do you understand?”
“……..”
“I thought you would feel disappointed about not being able to come into my lab but you took out your anger in such a petty way… I guess I had the wrong person.”
Unfortunately although Archwood had a bad personality he was not stupid.
In any case he realized that the lie had been seen through and even then he knew how to take care of practical benefit not pride.
“…..sorry.”
The students watching in the classroom murmured at the sight of Archwood lowering his head but Lennok knew that his judgment was correct.
The reputation of the students would be fatal to Lennok who had just entered the lab but it would not be the same for that man.
The only thing that is important to Archwood now is to somehow resolve this difficult situation.
However Aris also did not easily accept his apology probably because she clearly read his intentions.
“If something like this happens again I will send a letter to your family and the Magic Tower to get a confirmation.”
She spoke with a completely changed tone as if she was glaring at Archwood.
“If you understand what I mean go ahead.”
Instead of answering he silently lowered his head once more and straightened his back.
In the process I didn’t forget to throw a glance at Lennok.
Instead of avoiding that explicit look Lennok just smiled once.
Just like he did when he first saw Lennok.
“……”
It is clearly visible that blood is slightly rising on Archwood’s forehead which has been showing off his composure so far.
However he did not forget that Aris was staring at him right next to him.
Aris suddenly closed the classroom door as she watched Archwood obediently turn his back and disappear across the hallway.
thud!
As soon as she was free from the students’ gaze Aris turned her head and spoke.
“Lenok.”
Of course Lennok’s original name was told to her in advance.
Otherwise it would have been impossible to reveal the pseudonym Avan Bylon and his fake identity and ask for his cooperation.
It was easy to get confused but like an excellent wizard she treated him by clearly distinguishing between the two names.
“Yes Professor.”
“This didn’t just happen because of your bad luck. As you may have already guessed Archwood did this intentionally out of spite. “I never thought they would do something like that and then shamelessly pass the blame on to me…”
“……”
Aris continued speaking with a troubled look on her face.
“sorry. Of course just saying this won’t actually make the situation better. “I will quickly talk to the administration and come up with a plan.”
Fortunately Aris didn’t seem to be naive enough to believe that she could correct or discipline someone with just a few words.
He also knew very well that because of something like this it was highly unlikely that someone like Archwood would change his course of action or resort to a trick against Lennok.
Lennok nodded with a calm expression.
It would not be a lie if she said she would come up with a plan herself. Moreover what was happening now was not something that was completely incomprehensible.
Aris Richellen is a talented and skilled wizard who rose to the high level of level 6 at a young age and also has a great background as a Sinclair Mage Tower and is an outstanding beauty in her own right.
If you are a Labatenon college student the intangible benefits you can gain just by belonging to her lab will be significant.
“Make sure you move as much as possible within my line of sight inside school and change your face clearly the moment you go outside.”
“All right.”
In response to Lennok’s answer Aris finally nodded with a calmer expression.
Her expression looked a little more tired than before as she brushed her bright golden hair.
“Soon I will look for an artifact that can be used for self-defense. “I just don’t want to hurt the researcher I put so much effort into because of something like this.”
These words clearly reveal her thoughtfulness. If that’s the case you can trust it.
At least Aris has never forced Lennok into a unilateral loss or position until now.
Lennok dissuaded Aris from returning to the lab together and left the lecture hall.
“……..”
Numerous gazes fall on your back as you turn.
You can know it even if you don’t see it.
Ignoring curiosity vigilance jealousy….
It’s been a long time since I came into this world and it’s been a long time since I’ve received such a cold gaze.
If the fact that Lennok cannot use magic spreads it will be even worse than this.
But it doesn’t matter. Because I didn’t accept her offer to experience the fresh atmosphere of college.
However there would be no reason to put up with the person who sank his teeth into him first.
Lennok smiled faintly as he sensed Archwood’s gaze among the hundreds of students walking around the school beyond the school building where a chilly wind blew.
‘I guess they think they just need to stay out of Aris’s eye.’
It was obvious but fortunate.
If Lennok were the only one who thought that way things would be much more difficult.
