The Genius Wizard Who Takes Medicine Episode 525

    Magic Engineering Fair (3)

“Therefore the idling induction operation system for the purpose of improving engine efficiency is a gradual….”

    “stop.”

A huge auditorium immersed in darkness.

The researcher who was standing on a small platform illuminated by only a single beam of light trembled at the cold voice.

He quickly raises his head and looks up but he cannot feel eyes looking at him from the dark audience.

The only thing moving is a slow figure sitting there with an expression of boredom staring at this place in silence.

    City government central council senate.

In fact it is the core office of the city hall where the executives who lead the megacity Balkan are located in one place.

However there was no trace of interest or anticipation from those who showed up at the fair.

    “It’s about time.”

“Let me tell you one last thing…!!”

    “Researcher Bach Truya.”

The researcher lifted his head up when a voice softly called his name.

I felt as if a faint eye light was flashing in the dark auditorium.

“You have successfully demonstrated the results of your research so far.”

An old-age tone that seems to be gently admonishing.

“Don’t worry the support fund for your research will be approved without any problems so you can leave now.”

    “…All right.”

The image of a researcher who was about to say something more but held back and lowered his head.

As the man disappeared behind the podium others expressed their thoughts.

    “It looks like trash.”

“Let’s delete that friend’s research institute from the research fund support list.”

Contrary to what it looked like from the podium where Bachi Truya was standing the audience was not actually immersed in darkness.

It’s just that through some kind of magic and various security magic ordinary criminals are not even allowed to look at their faces.

Members of the National Assembly sitting in comfortable chairs with soft lighting were holding glasses and leafing through the exhibition catalogue.

“Even though we were given four years did they just follow the existing thesis?”

“We only managed to slightly improve the commercialization results of the magic power substitution thesis published by Labatenon University.”

“What I’m saying is that when the research results didn’t come out I hurriedly picked an existing hot theme and tweaked it accordingly.”

Although they didn’t even pretend to listen to the presentation they understood exactly what the main point was.

No because I was aware of it from the beginning I decided that it was not worth listening to.

“Now that I think about it I heard that the paper presenter who was just quoted in the presentation participated in this fair.”

“A paper on the substitution of horsepower and power? “His name was Evan Bylan.”

“There is a saying that Dean Gartheanon ignored internal procedures and made himself the representative of Labatenon University. “It probably means that they value it that much.”

“I haven’t heard anything about that friend?”

“You know the dean’s personality right? “I wouldn’t have even made a comment to a member of Congress who I thought wasn’t on my side.”

“Then that means someone here must have heard the story in advance. “What do you think Representative Meyer?”

Not all of the lawmakers who served as judges for this expo were senators.

It is also important to have heads of advisory committees and the Board of Audit and Inspection organizations or external advisors to help senators make decisions.

John Mayer an elderly man who participated in the exposition as a member of the Board of Audit and Inspection and a member of the National Assembly was also present.

Mayer looked like he was thinking for a moment and then shook his head.

“I have confirmed all financial flows and transaction details around the fair. “I had secured a suspicious list in advance but Dean Garteanon’s name was not there.”

    “Hoo.”

“There is nothing we can do here if all we do is make use of personal acquaintances.”

Despite the difference in status between the Senate and the House of Representatives Mayer’s considerable age is a factor that cannot be easily looked down on even as a senator.

Even though Mayer himself became a member of the Central Council at a late age he quickly made his name and achievements known and took the position of Board of Audit and Inspection.

“Well there’s no way that sly old man would do anything to get caught.”

“So do you really mean that you only left a superficial greeting asking you to look after me appropriately?”

“Researcher Bylon seems quite confident in the paper he submitted. “If he’s a genius as rumored it wouldn’t be a problem to achieve results at this fair.”

“The number of citations for that friend’s first paper has now reached almost 30000? “Even when looking at the academic world as a whole this is an absurd figure.”

“Are you saying this isn’t a result of Professor Ho-Aris Richelen’s talent and reputation?”

“I’m interested but I’m having no luck. “The theme we must adopt at this fair has already been decided.”

After saying that the senator turned his gaze towards a man in military uniform sitting in the front row of the auditorium.

    “Isn’t that right Commander Carrasco?”

    “….”

“We have made a lot of preparations to maximize the achievements of the Technology Bureau under your command. “We will be very disappointed if we do not live up to expectations.”

A strange impression that somehow resembles a fish. No one cares even if acrid smoke flows out of the thick cigar held in the corner of one’s mouth.

He leisurely looked down at the bottom of the podium then slowly turned his head with one arm draped across the audience.

Carrasco looked back at the lawmakers and then smiled leisurely and answered.

“…It is enough as long as we keep the promises made by the Central Council.”

An attitude bordering on arrogance towards those in power in large cities. But no one is pointing out that attitude either.

An air force training project directly planned and organized by the city government’s central council with the intention of replacing the National Guard Army.

One of the executives of that grand plan a leading veteran and a former National Guard general who is considered an undefeated commander.

Carrasco was the commander of the 2nd Balkan Air Force Corps selected through that project and was a monster who achieved the rank of captain.

One of the key executives from the era that symbolized the strength of the National Guard Army now completely lost in time.

Now he was participating as one of the judges of the demonstration at the fair with the title of Air Force Commander.

“Because you need a justification. “Isn’t there a separate theme set for that?”

said Carrasco holding a cigar and shaking his hand.

“We are not asking lawmakers to make a deal by choosing performance that falls short of standards.”

    “….”

“What is important is the process of improving the status of the Air Force which was in disarray after the first deployment and showing visible progress in both performance and major areas.”

An air force development project that was ambitiously launched to replace the National Guard Army.

One of the results the Air Force Fleet was reduced to a lump of scrap metal by Croken Asilus as soon as it was launched but the significance of the Air Force power in the Balkans never fades.

An extreme environment where aircraft cannot take off due to magnetic storms that blow irregularly near large cities.

Establishing a flight force that can operate normally in this environment is the same as obtaining absolute air superiority only over large cities.

Putting air superiority inside and outside of a megacity under the hands of the city government and the air force.

This expo was one of a series of procedures to supplement the Air Force’s technological capabilities and secure competitiveness.

‘They say it like that but it’s no different from a competition where the winner has already been decided.’

Mayer thought calmly as he listened to the senators’ conversation from the back of the audience.

Of course since it is an exhibition sponsored by Congress it is unlikely that an award will be awarded even if the performance or technology is poor.

However despite this themes and topics that would appeal to the lawmakers were decided from the beginning and this fact was secretly used for transactional purposes.

Having this conversation with Mayer a member of the Board of Audit and Inspection in front of us is tantamount to the senators asserting to Mayer that the facts were not wrong.

Mayer knew that so instead of intervening he remained silent.

‘It is not strange to focus on examining related technologies for the development of the Air Force. However other researchers at the expo who did not know that fact….’

It would be difficult to attract the attention of lawmakers or achieve results at expos by presenting significant achievements or papers.

If researchers who happened to study technical topics necessary for the Air Force or did not produce truly overwhelming results it would not be surprising if they were buried without receiving any attention.

A topic that the judges would like was decided. Where does that fact lie between fairness and unfairness?

Perhaps this kind of tightrope walking is one of the things that the veterans of the Central Council have done most skillfully.

“Then at Commander Carrasco’s request let’s take a quick look at the participants from now on.”

“I agree. “As we borrowed the expo’s procedures we need to select some presentations appropriately and show them to the citizens.”

“There are too many people trying to sneak in Evan Bylan’s thesis. “Let’s quickly filter out those guys.”

As soon as he finished speaking another presenter started walking in from across the podium.

    * * *

The auditorium located deep inside City Hall where senators are waiting for deliberation.

In the dark hallway inside dozens of researchers are nervously waiting for their turn.

    “Ah ahhh….”

Another researcher wearing a gown from the Pegrace Institute who had challenged Lennok walks out with a distraught expression on his face.

The other researchers who ran out soon after as if they were being chased were not much different.

Did he expect this to be an opportunity to showcase his achievements or thesis only to have it come back miserably shattered?

Other waiting staff are also busy reciting previously prepared words or continuously reviewing the operation of the work.

However in the meantime there were undoubtedly researchers who finished their presentations and walked out looking relatively relaxed.

A dizzy hallway waiting room filled with conflicting emotions of tension and relaxation. Instead of compiling himself while waiting for his turn with these people-

“You were Assistant Professor Evan Bylan.”

“I really wanted to meet you sometime. “Is it okay to talk for a moment?”

He was being greeted by countless researchers and wizards who recognized Lennok.

The first paper written as Evan Bylan had a huge impact in various fields.

Even if they did not know Lennok’s face there were many people in the industry who had heard his name.

In particular the researchers who came from outside the big city for the exhibition and the wizards of the Magic Tower seemed to have no intention of holding on to Lennok and letting him go.

“You look much younger than I thought. “How old are you now?”

“I never thought you would prove the principle of substitution between horsepower and electric power like that. “I really want to hear your story about how you came up with such an idea.”

There were countless requests for handshakes coming from all around from people from both the Magic Tower and outside the city.

Of course among them there are quite a few people who doubt Lennok and try to criticize him.

“There are no facts that have been properly verified yet right?”

“We’ll have to check the results of this fair to find out. “You will find out how much Professor Richelen helped you write your thesis.”

“If he was a genius as rumored he wouldn’t bring up poor results at such a large-scale exhibition right?”

A blatant attempt to subtly provoke Lennok and see his reaction.

However those words were blown away by a blond man standing next to Lennok bursting into loud laughter.

“It’s not too late to talk about that even after the fair is over. “I’m curious as to how Assistant Professor Bylon came up with the idea to write such a paper don’t you think?”

Other researchers naturally joined the conversation as if they internally agreed with the man’s words.

“I agree too. “The very fact of presenting a hypothetical experiment in anticipation of a future point in time and then turning the tense around to prove it from a past point in time is ridiculous.”

“Do you know that the proof method that Mr. Bylan used is already being tried in various ways in various academic circles?”

“I understand that a related paper is already being written. “Sooner or later a proof method named after you may be created.”

    “….”

Lennok quietly listened to what was being said around him but also looked closely at the blonde man who had just skillfully changed the subject.

A sturdy figure with broad shoulders an old but well-folded suit and a simple outfit without any accessories.

This is the man who was the first to talk to Lennok in the tense hallways and eagerly boasted about his accomplishments.

Didn’t he subtly take Lennok’s side just a moment ago and upset the tense atmosphere in the hallway?

The blond man didn’t pay any attention to Lennok’s gaze and soon began chattering about various things among the researchers.

“This paper should receive good reviews from the reviewers…”

“I’m worried because the senators themselves participated. “What do those old men know about sacred magical engineering research?”

“This year is the last opportunity our Magic Tower has given me. “If we don’t achieve results within this quarter we may really be dragged into the central front.”

From those who raise concerns and complaints to those who share information or the screening process of the fair.

In an instant other people’s attention began to focus on the atmosphere that was slowly calming down around Lennok.

Even wizards who showed curiosity toward the spirit held in Lennok’s arms.

    “It’s a very cute spirit.”

“It’s rare for a spirit to have been materialized to this level.”

“Nice to meet you. “Do you mind if I shake your hand?”

    [hmm.]

The wizards shook hands politely with Dabi who stretched out his paw with an arrogant look and then turned around as if satisfied.

Dabi whispered to Lennok with a somewhat satisfied look.

[The wizards outside the city are more polite than you might think.]

    “…”

“Evan Bylan. “He was still here.”

A woman in uniform pats Lennok on the shoulder.

It was Fedora who had introduced himself to Lennok earlier as a member of the National Guard’s Technology Bureau.

“Did you finish your presentation well?”

    “Okay?”

She looked at the wizards and researchers standing around Lennok with a shocked expression then looked at the engine parked next to her and smiled slightly as if she knew that would happen.

“It must have been difficult to change something significantly in the meantime. “Do your best.”

“I’ve been thinking about what you said earlier about city council members having a set theme they want.”

    “I’ll just go now.”

Lennok muttered quietly to Fedora’s back who ignored him and turned away.

“Technology related to air force power.”

    “…!!!”

“Or research on equivalent flight methods. “It has to be one of the two right?”

Lennok laughed as he looked at Fedora who turned his head.

Fedora looks at Lennok and his engine in disbelief.

There was a distinctly different tension on her face than before.

The gaze is not that of an ignorant person who knows nothing but a look that is wary of a competitor.

Just from that reaction it was clear that Lennok’s guess was close to the correct answer.

The strange overlap of research themes I felt as I walked around the different booths holding the tabi.

Internal affairs related to the theme mentioned by Slimane and Fedora.

Through him Lennok soon realized what the judges wanted at this fair.

Fedora approached with a stern face and whispered in a low fast tone that only Lenno could hear.

    “How on earth did you…!!”

“Was it a bigger secret than you thought?”

    “…!!”

When Lennok did not respond Fedora immediately raised his magic power and tried to grab him by the collar.

As a member of the National Guard’s Technology Bureau how confident are you in your own abilities? It’s a radical response almost like a soldier’s.

The moment when the wizards startled by the suddenly heated air were about to set out to find the source of magic.

“It’s difficult for this kind of commotion to still be happening.”

    Parbat!!

Someone standing next to Lennok pointed out Fedora’s forehead and struck him like a sword.

The sight of Fedora closing his eyes and fainting without even having time to react.

The man who skillfully picked up Fedora’s body and placed him on the waiting table near the hallway spoke.

“I’ve created a good atmosphere but I don’t want to be disturbed.”

Standing up with a smile on his face he was an older man with his dark blonde hair slicked back.

The other researchers looked blank at the words of the man who had been laughing heartily next to Lennok just moments before.

“What are you talking about now?”

“We were waiting for our turn for the fair…”

The man didn’t even look at the researchers who were laughing and talking just moments ago.

With a light gesture he quickly adjusted his clothes and swept his hair back.

That alone makes the man’s impression completely change to a heavy and dull one.

Unlike his somewhat excited expression his face was calm and expressionless.

The man adjusting his collar slowly extended his hand towards Lennok.

On the sleeve was a dark blue badge representing the Senate of the Central Council flashing faintly.

    “His name is Conrad Heyburn.”

The man who naturally held Lennok’s hand and shook it laughed.

“It’s a bit odd but he’s an old man who serves as a member of the National Assembly.”

    “Hey Senator Heyburn…!!”

“How did the busiest executive in the Senate end up here…!!”

A voice heard from among the crowd who could not hide their agitation. The aftermath spread like a wave in all directions a little later.

It was only after Lennok listened to the voice that he finally realized who the other person was.

Senator of the Central Council of Balkan City Governments.

One of the old monsters who was by far the most powerful in this huge city had come to see Lennok in person.

He even purposely livened up the atmosphere by casually mixing in with the researchers who were waiting for the screening and the wizards of the Magic Tower.

“I’ve heard a lot about you. Should we go out and talk?”

With a smile on his face he casually touched the engine once and then pointed behind his shoulder.

What came next was something completely different from Lennok’s expectations or expectations.

“I’d like to have one last conversation with you before I erase everything that happened at this fair today.”
