Drug-Eating Genius Mage – 51
by Jessie@AFNCC
A month has passed since killing Eden and taking down the Cigar Bang gang.
In the meantime Lennok devoted himself to researching magic going out and about without any special events.
Aside from the occasional exchange of greetings with Jenny the only time I go out is to buy groceries or make appointments with Aris.
During the day I meet Aris in the library and talk to myself like a crazy person and at night I repeatedly flip through Eden’s research journal until time runs out.
After staying up all night for three days in a row and fainting I used Panoa’s connections to buy another stemonia.
It may have been a wasteful expenditure as the harmful effects of the beginning of the year had not yet accumulated on his body but Lennok realized that this period should not be missed.
Regardless of his talent there is a time and a time for learning.
Lennok did not know when this opportunity to learn theory from Aris and carry out practice using a research log at the same time would come again.
We must do our best when funds time and circumstances allow.
It was a very precious time gained by successfully completing several cross-border requests.
As a result Lennok was making incredible growth in both his knowledge and ability about magic.
The magic system is gradually developed by remodeling not only the lightning series but also the common magic as a whole.
Unable to control the inspiration and imagination that wells up inside him he experiments with and surpasses all kinds of magic.
The level was already far beyond what could be hidden.
So much so that Lennok’s own intuition could no longer be hidden from Aris.
“…So I was wondering if it would be a good idea to change the way we combine elemental magic in a slightly different direction. In fact isn’t the current elemental magic closer to assembling things on the spot rather than digging deep into the properties themselves and manifesting them?”
“……..”
“Honestly I don’t think it’s a very efficient way to do it. Of course the optimization of the process itself has been almost completely achieved through countless researches but there is still no clear answer on how to improve the process mechanism.”
Lennok spoke passionately not noticing that Aris was staring at his face.
“In fact if we were to abandon the double assembly process and design the magic to engage one by one while the two axes rotate like a gear wheel…”
“That’s all for today.”
“…..yes?”
Did I get sick of talking to myself too much?
Just as Lennok’s face was about to turn slightly red as he felt a rare sense of embarrassment.
Aris suddenly took out a business card from her arms and held it out to him.
“Take it.”

“This is…”
“I think I gave it to you once when we first met.”
She smiled softly as she ran her fingers through her golden hair.
Professor at Labatenon University. This is Aris Richelen’s business card.
“I had a lot of concerns but today I saw it and was convinced.”
She spoke her blue eyes shining quietly.
“Passion for knowledge desire to explore sharp eyesight and understanding. Both your reasoning and intuition skills are flawless even by my standards. “To be honest it was a bit surprising.”
“……..”
“If he had enough magical power he might have been a wizard of the same level as me. That’s how talented you are at theoretical research.”
“It’s talent….”
“Please come into my lab. “I want to conduct research on magic theory together.”
Divided and interlaced
Lennok fell silent.
It was only then that I started to feel like I was too excited.
Growth in almost a month.
I gradually fell in love with the fun of researching the magic I had begun to develop on my own day by day outside the framework of public magic and inadvertently revealed it to Aris.
No in fact Lennok may have known.
I was mistaken because I was absorbed in the fact that we were comrades studying magic together.
Aris who saw Lennok with his mouth shut with a troubled expression spoke urgently.
Seeing him transform into a completely different person in an instant I realized something was wrong.
“Of course I’m not saying I’m going to work in my lab without any position. Once you are officially hired as an assistant professor you will be teaching and we can also give you permission to audit university lectures. “There are many benefits not only in salary but also in welfare….”
Lennok stood up without hearing any more.
The same friendly smile as before appeared on his face.
“Can I think about it for a bit and contact you?”
Aris is not stupid.
She knew that if she missed this moment she would never be able to bring up this topic again.
She became impatient kicked the table with both hands stood up and spoke to Lennok who turned around.
“…I can create an identity for you.”
“……..”
Stand tall.
After hearing those words Lennok realized that this relationship had reached a point where it could no longer be avoided.
“How did you know?”
Lennok is not stupid enough to back down when he speaks in such a confident tone.
And I didn’t want to deceive her like that.
Aris responded in a calmer voice to Lennok’s calm admission.
“In this city… nameless people are not rare.”
“……..”

Could it have been inferred from the fact that the name was not revealed?
Because he didn’t pay much attention to the brisket side he seemed to have allowed Aris to speculate in that regard.
“Being an assistant professor at Labatenon University can be a recognized job in itself. “Even if your status is insecure right now if you take action through this connection it won’t be impossible to get a proper ID card.”
“Whoa….”
Lennok let out a small sigh.
It’s ridiculous but it’s because I realized that Aris’s words didn’t sound all that uncomfortable.
The cost needed to create the high-quality fake ID that the hacker Jenny introduced was over 400 million cells.
So how much does it cost to make an official ID card?
What are the costs required to establish a decent job and position in a sunny area?
….It was a problem that could not be easily assessed.
Just being able to reduce intermediate processes and save costs is a huge benefit to Lennok.
And the merits of being able to participate in proper magic research under Aris far exceeded the mere financial gain.
Did he at least read Lennok’s shaking expression? Aris speaks hesitantly.
That small true intention that was pushed aside for a fake justification.
“……I want to help. “You might think it’s presumptuous.”
“……..”
“It’s a difficult situation.”
Only after hearing those words was Lennok able to fully believe what Aris said.
When I thought about her personality and words and actions that I had seen so far I could tell that those words were sincere.
He is a rare person.
Especially in this cold hard city.
It’s just that Lennok is ready to accept that offer.
That was the only problem.
In the end what I could say was no different from before.
“I need time to think.”
These words are not much different from before.
But did he even see something beyond Lennok’s gaze?
Aris’ expression had become much softer than before.
