Drug-Eating Genius Mage – 50
by Jessie@AFNCC
Rumors about the lightning wizard in Area 49 spread quickly.
This may be because the screams made by the collapse of a large gang called Cigar Bang were so loud.
It is natural that people around Lennok’s perspective is changing.
Until then only people knew about promising freelancers but is it an illusion that more people now recognize Van’s face?
Considering the stinging gaze piercing the back of my head it didn’t seem like that was necessarily the case.
“It’s him.”
“It doesn’t look that special….”
“The brokers I have worked with are full of praise. “It won’t be an empty name filled with bubbles.”
“I heard he was scouted by the mercenary office several times… I think he might be more picky about his tastes than I thought.”
“……”
The residents of District 49 who seemed to have shown no interest in him so far occasionally turn their heads to check Lennok’s face.
As if he wanted to remember that appearance.
Some are close and blatant while others cast a vague glance as if visible from afar.
Meanwhile there were also people who had conversations with information that went beyond what the celebrities were talking about.
“…..I’m not an ordinary lightning wizard.”
“I heard that other types of properties have also been used.”
“There is a possibility that he belongs to the very historic Mysterious Magic Tower.”
“Can we scrape out information?”
Rather than being surprised or scared by the appearance of a talented new person those who calmly judge profits and losses and calculate what they can do as partners.
If Lennok has to work with other freelancers in the future he will probably join hands with those people from time to time.
With that in mind Lennok naturally headed to Jenny’s bar.
“You’re here. “I’ll give you a glass of whiskey so just wait a moment.”
We are now familiar with the sight of Jenny with her head down on her laptop and not even able to raise her head properly and Jordan silently shaking his shaker next to her.
Lennok asked Jenny as he sat down across the bar.
“You look very busy.”
“Who do you think it’s because of?”

Just by hearing her answer in a blunt tone I could immediately understand what was going on.
Lennok smiled bitterly.
“This wouldn’t have happened even if you hadn’t rejected all the requests from the beginning. “My laptop is about to explode because of the inquiries coming in through the deep web.”
“……..”
Although she didn’t say it out loud it seemed like she was dissatisfied with Lennok turning down the request when the water came in like this.
It’s not that Lennok doesn’t understand Jenny’s feelings.
If he had not gained so much from this operation Lennok would have just pretended to look into the request without much hesitation.
However this time the enlightenment and research journal he gained from the battle with Eden were completely unexpected for Lennok and Lennok had no intention of letting this good fortune go.
Now that he has confirmed that it is possible to steal the essence contained within it without learning the unique magic what Lennok should do is not to be swayed by immediate money but to check his own skills once again.
When all the work is done Lennok thinks there won’t even be a need to row in the incoming water.
It didn’t seem like it would take long for it to create its own current.
“What about the materials you mentioned?”
“It’s here.”
Instead of Jenny Jordon picked up a thick file and held it out to Lennok.
“…..Thank you.”
“I don’t know why you suddenly started taking interest in warlocks but you better be careful.”
Zordon answered quietly.
“They have blended into society through a very long period of compromise but fundamentally they are people who use playing with the source of life as a driving force for development.”
“……..”
“I felt it very clearly after working together a few times. “If you don’t understand that way of thinking at all you’ll be fine but if you don’t it’s incredibly easy to get caught up in it.”
“Don’t worry too much.”
Lennok said with a wry smile.
“I don’t plan on quitting this job any time soon.”
“okay. “I won’t say much.”
Jordon said just that and kept his mouth shut.
You probably know that the longer you talk the more useless things you say.
I felt once again that he was a man qualified to run a business by the side of the impatient Jenny.
‘I can’t go anywhere else with a body like this anyway.’
Since I was dealing with warriors who use hand-to-hand combat rather than wizards I didn’t really feel it but I was confident once again in the battle with Eden.
Lennok’s talent is dangerous.
Like a bomb that could explode at any moment the overflowing intuition and inspiration were spreading out in all directions like crazy escaping Lennok’s will when they encountered a strong stimulus.
How much of the magic of Eden did Lennok encounter at that time?
What wizard in this world can see the opponent’s unique magic and assemble the same magic on the spot?
If other wizards found out about his talent would they try to bless his ability and intelligence?
Or will he try to find out the secret at all costs?
It was still difficult to say that I knew much about this world but the answer to that question was obvious.
If you don’t really trust someone it’s better to hide it until you can.

At least until Lennok has the power to match his talent.
In order to overcome that fear wasn’t it an effort to become stronger by taking these steps step by step?
While thinking about that I was putting the materials Zordon gave me into my bag when suddenly it became noisy outside.
As always if it had been someone’s terminal or a gunshot no one would have cared.
However the faint sound of military boots coming from the entrance of the bar was enough to stimulate people’s nerves.
In addition there were useless memories of Lennok who had never even been in the military here.
“……..”
“What do you mean?”
It appears that a group of people are passing by as a group rather than trying to enter the bar but even that is clearly a rare occurrence.
There was no one who didn’t know that it was dangerous to hang out carelessly on these streets.
If they are acting like this even though they know the fact then it is only those who have the arrogance or qualifications to do so.
Before answering Zordon’s question Lennok generated a lot of magical power and quickly spread it out of the bar.
His magical power control ability which has grown significantly due to the battle with Eden goes far beyond the existing detection range taking control of a space several kilometers in scope and transmitting all the information within it to his five senses.
Clear visual information flowed into the back of my head as if I was meeting directly in front of my eyes and I saw dozens of people passing in front of the bar.
A bulletproof vest that covers the entire body tightly. A helmet that doesn’t show your face properly and a rifle strapped to your back.
However its gait is quite unstable compared to its armament and its breathing is irregular.
Lennok nodded after checking the emblem of the Balkan city government engraved on their chests.
“They are city government officials.”
“public official?”
What could have brought the public officials here?
Fortunately there was something I could guess. Didn’t Evelyn whom he met at the market give him information as a gift?
“I’ve heard rumors that the city government is conducting inspections in the outer areas. “I think it’s probably part of that.”
“It’s an interrogation….”
Jordan’s face is unusually serious.
“They say it targets magicians who do business without permission. “It probably doesn’t have much to do with this bar.”
Of course Zordon did not bother to ask the source of the information despite Lennok’s overly detailed explanation but his expression did not become clouded.
After thinking for a while a heavy voice came out of his mouth.
“It seems like the city government has decided this time. “I’ll have a lot to think about.”
“…Is this serious?”
Lennok who did not know much about the extent of the inspections dismissed it as something like that but the idea of government officials touring the outer areas in groups was something unfamiliar to Jordan.
“I’ve never had anything like this happen in decades of working here. This is probably the result of the city council’s strong will. “I don’t know what they’re after but it’s clear they want something in this area.”
As they said the public officials showed signs of shrinking from the sharp gaze of the residents but instead of retreating they moved faster.
If I had to roughly guess the direction the footsteps were heading it would definitely be towards Area 44.
“……..”
It’s already been a year since I started working in District 49 without knowing anything.
The environment around him was changing little by little but surely.
I thought I was finally finding stability in my life but things don’t always go the way I want.
As always we have no choice but to adapt.
Lennok’s honest feelings were that if he could not prevent change he wanted to at least get to a place where he could lead the change himself.
Lennok slowly turned his gaze to see Jordon who had a complicated expression and Jenny who had stopped working and was looking outside.
Now that I think about it did the blood mage boy I met in Area 44 evacuate well?
If I hadn’t ignored Lennok’s words I probably would have been able to organize my business at the right time and escape.
From then on he won’t have to worry about it.
As Lennok thought so he tried to erase the boy’s existence from his mind.
Until I saw the image of the boy I had been thinking of just a moment ago in the unfolded magical sensory sphere.
A thick bag carried on his back with the same clumsy expression as when we first met.
Lennok let out a laugh as he realized that the boy’s footsteps which had filtered through the crowd were heading precisely towards this bar.
“……..”
“Why but?”
“no. “It’s nothing.”
As Lennok said that he turned his gaze towards Jenny.
“jenny.”
“why?”
“I’d better get ready to receive guests.”
“…..what?”
I hear someone walking down the stairs.
Lennok grinned.
“okay. I guess…a glass of milk would be enough. “Let’s put it in front of me for now.”
higher
Late at night.
Lennok’s new apartment complex in the 30th district.
I didn’t expect anyone’s head to come up as they looked at the book relying on the dim light from the stand.
A newly renovated laboratory after moving.
A strange vibration sound is heard as the magic power rotates within it.
Lennok who had neatly organized his surroundings began to delve into the unique magic of the Thorburn School in earnest.
At that time I had to establish the inspiration I had gained through the battle with Eden into a concrete theory and make it my own.
In the case of the ‘Water Drop’ magic stolen from [Brainman] or a warlock Lennok could only use it at the risk of rapid consumption of magic power for now but the other unique magic used by Eden is different.
Once a door is opened it never closes and the knowledge and inspiration that passed through my mind remain the same.
Lennok’s talent would be enough to absorb all of Eden’s capabilities.
All that was needed was the right amount of time.
‘I didn’t sleep well today.’
Staying up all night is not difficult for Lennok who suffers from insomnia.
Just by not reaching for the sleeping pill container you will be able to see the sunlight tomorrow morning.
Right now it was more important to read Eden’s research journal and not miss the thoughts that came to mind than to sleep.
Perhaps because Eden started writing a journal some time after learning magic most of the basic information was omitted but it was more convenient for Lennok.
‘Definitely… there are parts where strands get caught.’
The worries that were accumulating while researching magic and magic alone.
Eden’s research journal contained some answers to that question.
[Once again I received a B rank in the Magic Tower’s mid-class evaluation… This is because I was unable to control the last of the five methods of controlling the flow of lightning. Even though I know that the residual magical energy that remains after using magic bounces in the opposite direction it is not easy to hold on to the flow until the end. If you do not receive an A rank in the next evaluation your dormitory support may be cut off.]
“……..”
Of course he didn’t like the fact that he had to reveal the details of a man who was already dead but he learned a lot just from the information contained in passing.
No it’s not about learning new concepts.
Through this research log he is receiving confirmation of the concepts at the practical level that he was only guessing and unsure of while researching magic.
It was a different way of growing than supplementing my theoretical knowledge through conversations with Aris.
The roots of the giant tree growing from within Lenok grow deeper and its branches spread out in all directions.
Through the battle with Eden being able to understand and use the principles of the unique magic [Thunder] was a great help in understanding the journal.
‘The lightning pursued by the Thorburn school is close to a heavy and intense image.’
Accumulate the maximum amount of magical energy and imagery that can be contained in a single spell and release it all at once as if sweeping it away.
All of the magic tricks needed in the process are to increase power and speed.
It focuses on the essence of destruction magic which is its power rather than its novelty or functionality.
And it suited Lennok who was worried about the limits of the destructive power of common magic very accurately.
Although he had overcome all hardships with his overwhelming sense of battle in the end the most powerful magic he could use was limited to [Thunder Calling].
On the contrary it meant that if [Thunder Calling] did not hit Lennok would not be able to fully utilize his full power.
Although it has great power it has a clear point of impact and has the disadvantage of having an omen during casting so it has been used in parallel with [Gravity Bind].
However the story is different if you can add the unique magic of the Thorburn school to his common magic.
[Thunder Calling] which was used against Eden had the overwhelming advantage of having an extremely short casting time and extending from the hand but it was not much less powerful than [Thunder Calling].
If only we could keep these aspects in mind and incorporate them into the development of magic…
‘It wouldn’t be difficult to create a completely new magic.’
Read through the journal quickly without obsessing over parts you cannot immediately understand.
What is important in learning is repetition not complete understanding. Since the research materials were not running away I planned to take my time calmly.
‘This is the last chapter.’
According to the diary Eden was a fairly excellent student at the Magic Tower but due to her lack of background and limited potential she was eventually notified of being discharged.
It was possible to guess his psychological state just by looking at his handwriting which had been stable until then and became disturbed after leaving the Magic Tower.
It seems that Eden did not stop researching magic even after being released from the Magic Tower but it soon reached its limits.
The last page of the diary clearly revealed his feelings of despair and confusion.
[White lightning which was considered the symbol of a level 6 military wizard in the Magic Tower… I have reached the end of level 5 through continuous research but I cannot find a way to go beyond it.]
[I heard about the change in the nature of lightning at the Magic Tower but I don’t understand it. How on earth is it possible to change an intention that has already been magically imbued? I feel resentful towards Master….]
[The only way I found was to push my magic to the limit and force the firepower of the lightning to go up one level. In this way as the temperature exceeds the nature of lightning at least half of the change in properties is possible.]
[First I need to start by increasing the amount of horsepower. I felt like I needed more money.]
[Much more than now.]
“……”
Only after reading the journal to the end was I able to understand the reason for Eden’s behavior.
The reason why I entered the weapons business despite taking risks.
The reason why so many amplifiers were installed in the power plant to deal with Lennok and his group.
And at the end why did he struggle so hard to attack the [Brain Man] shown by Lennok?
It wasn’t a pleasant feeling.
After exploring the life of someone who had already died all that remained was an unknown gloom.
Suppress the useless thoughts that come to mind and slowly increase your magical power.
Dismissal..!!
A bright blue electric current formed between both index fingers.
Lennok was deep in thought.
It’s been quite a while since we’ve been able to handle attribute properties like this without having to call up the common lightning-type magic one by one.
The reason why the Lightning series is particularly easier compared to other magic is probably because Lennok used this series of magic so much.
It’s powerful fast and intuitive.
It was a magic that was worth the effort and never once disappointed Lennok.
Let’s go one step further from here.
Lennok made that decision and greatly increased his magic power.
I’m so sorry!!!!
As magical power poured in the amount of electricity forming in both hands increased rapidly and began to look like a bright blue ray of light.
Although the small stand placed in the room is filled with light so brilliant that it puts to shame not a single ray of electricity escapes Lennok’s fingers.
It was now a very natural thing for Lennok to have complete control over the magic he had created.
Lennok who was looking down at the collection of magical powers with an indifferent expression slightly twisted his fingers.
What is the imagery contained in magical power?
Until now Lennok had only thought about his strong will to use magic and with that alone he ran like crazy without any interference.
However in order to change the magic that has already been activated does the will within it also have to be changed?
‘I can’t agree with that.’
Eden seemed frustrated at the thought but Lennok did not think that the image he had created was so worthless.
He is different from other wizards from the starting line.
He knew very well how ridiculous his talent was and how close he was to the limits of his existence.
It is an immortal quality that he acquired even while suffering countless penalties.
There was no way the thoughts he had created could be something that could be replaced for a more powerful magic.
Lennok wasn’t even sure about the future but he knew that when it came to magic he could observe it more objectively than anyone else.
What is needed is not a nobler image or a higher level of thought.
Just a small opportunity to realize ignorance was enough.
Blah blah blah!!
That moment.
The blue waves of electricity flowing between Lennok’s hands split apart as if peeling off a shell revealing the pure white flesh inside.
Like a drop of ink falling into a glass of water the white current that grew from within quickly consumed the blue magic light and covered Lennok’s hands with a dazzling brilliance.
The threshold over which Eden spent all her remaining time worrying and becoming frustrated.
Lennoc casually climbs the stairs leading to a higher realm.
Only then did a faint smile begin to appear on Lennok’s lips.
Up further up.
There was still a long way to go.
