Drug-Eating Genius Mage – 358

End of the Labyrinth (1)
It’s been a long time since I’ve known Evelyn.
Since I first came into this back alley and started taking on proper requests I have become familiar with people so if you just count the years it’s been close to four years.
It’s enough time to get to know each other even if you don’t try hard.
There is absolutely no information about Lennok’s past and his status is unnaturally precarious compared to his abilities.
It must have been after we started working together in this snowy field that our unspoken doubts turned into convictions.
It is natural to think that the name Van may also be a pseudonym seeing Lennok’s words and actions handling the pseudonym Evan so casually.
I’m also worried that the relationships I’ve built so far may disappear like bubbles.
“….”
If Lennok abandoned the name Van and went into hiding their relationship would easily be broken to the point of futility.
With Lennok’s magic manipulation ability and his ability to freely imitate magic patterns it wouldn’t be that difficult to escape without anyone noticing.
I don’t want that kind of ending. I don’t like such unilateral disconnection.
Evelyn was quietly swallowing her regrets without even being able to tell Lennok directly.
The silence grows longer on a fast-moving bike.
Only the heavy engine sound echoes softly through the vast void.
Lennok who was riding his bike in silence muttered quietly.
“I still often think of the factory where I was almost killed by Kroken.”
“….”
“I have no intention of disappearing without saying goodbye to the person I owe my life to. “What you’re worried about won’t happen.”
“…Really?”
Lennok laughed at Evelyn’s words which he glanced at.
“From the beginning I had no intention of giving up my status as a class member. The foundation already laid under this name has grown so much…”
Lennok answered in a lighter tone as if admonishing.
I know that there is no need to explain my thoughts to Evelyn.
It might be much more efficient to just gloss over her question and be prepared to run away whenever necessary.
However even though Lennok knew this he did not hesitate to make an unconditional promise to Evelyn on this occasion.

In a world full of confusion and distrust how important it is not to abandon those who come to us with good intentions.
This is because both intuition and reason created through considerable experience were aware of it.
Eveline Marcia is a good person.
Lennok was not stupid or foolish enough to abandon this fierce archer who followed him into the eyes of the Qing and became his watcher.
“No I didn’t have to do that but I just found out your real name… Well first of all I found out. “Let’s talk later.”
Lennok also laughed at Evelyn’s words which spoke slightly faster and muttered as if making excuses.
Because I realized that even the most seasoned agent is in some ways even more clumsy than Lennok.

Coo coo coo coo coo…!!!
A faint vibration echoing from inside the snowy field.
However the sound of the ground was so loud and clear that it was heard by all the people waiting scattered across the snowy field.
Lapis who was sitting at the edge of the floating island and looking up at the sky with her eyes closed could also feel it.
“Lapis…!!”
The sight of Myeonseong running out with a surprised expression.
Lapis quietly shook her head as he grabbed the window sill.
Myeonseong who was standing with a stiff expression was heartbroken at her answer.
“Are you… not finished yet?”
It’s already been a week since we succeeded in getting the core of the Watchers into the labyrinth.
Even if you are a warrior with a strong mind and body this is enough time to become exhausted and distracted.
That’s why Lapis was trying to keep the work and rest rotation of the watchers waiting outside the snowfield as neat as possible.
Even if the observers who entered the labyrinth successfully complete their work and come out the floating island’s forces must be ready to immediately retrieve them.
However it was not only Blue’s eyes that were thinking such things but a battle for dominance near the canyon was actively taking place to secure entry and steal routes.
Battles continue to take place for different reasons and motives both inside and outside the labyrinth.
“There isn’t much left.”
“You mean…!”
Instead of answering Lapis raised her eyes towards the sky again.
Her eyes were wide open and countless starlight appeared in the endless void illuminating the darkness as vast as the universe.
“I feel the power overlooking this snowy field. The will of a transcendent being so vast that it seems far-off. It must be Jin Dun’s.””
“….”
Although it seemed as if she couldn’t realize it Lapis who had inherited the vocation of a lighthouse keeper could.
The will of a transcendent person who goes beyond looking over the entire snowy field and rotates consciousness beyond the time and space of the world.
It was clearly to confirm with one’s own eyes the identity of the approaching apocalypse beyond the open sea.
The Ascendant also senses that time is truly running out.
Lapis doesn’t know whether the Ascendant’s will which she belatedly realized was left behind before and after her birth and death.
The only thing that is certain is that he had planned all of this from the beginning.
Lapis opened her mouth with an intuition that was close to certainty.
“Now I think I have some idea why the Ascendant suddenly started moving.”

“Are you saying… that he succeeded in ascending to heaven?”
She shook her head in response to Seon Myeong’s nervous question.
“He is waiting.”
Lapis said blankly.
A very vague confidence that has no basis or logic.
However Lapis did not hesitate to tell it to Seong-myeong.
It seemed like she could read Jin-dun’s intentions a little bit from the way he looked at her.
“You mean you’re waiting? “What on earth?”
“Someone who can give you the answer… or give you the answer.”
Lapis answered.
“In the end only those who reach the end of the labyrinth will be able to confirm the truth.”
The end of the operation which has lasted nearly 50 days is just around the corner.
The Hanghasa Labyrinth did not reject anyone who entered and with the skill and hierarchy of those who entered it they would have been able to get through the end.
However Lapis’s expression showed anxiety rather than joy.
“I hope everyone is safe….”
Even though she knows that it is an unrealistic and vain wish she has no choice but to pray like that.
From the moment she decided to take on the calling of a lighthouse keeper and change the unreasonable ending she had always hoped for impossible wishes.
Lapis can only hope for the sake of the people who gathered around her drawn by her empty promises.
Not everything you wish for will come true but if you don’t wish for it nothing will come true.
In order to prevent the sky from opening and preserve the world Lapis was prepared to use as much force as possible.

Hwiee!!
The sound of the wind gradually getting stronger. It’s hard to open your eyes with the wind blowing past your face.
“I can see the end of the bridge.”
Along with Evelyn’s mumbling Lennok’s mind gradually became calmer.
A view of a bridge passing by quickly. Hundreds of illusions seen through the lens of a monoscope.
Hundreds of bridges.
Even in each environment where time flows differently the illusion seen by Lennok walks forward at the same speed and pace.
“….”
A welcome appearance that constantly reflects on oneself.
When he first entered this labyrinth it had resembled a young boy’s appearance but now it had clearly changed into that of an old man with a bent back.
An image that seems to show a person’s life from beginning to end.
Lennok now seemed to know what this vision which he could only vaguely guess meant.
“I tried to embody all past timelines and possibilities within the labyrinth and achieve the same status as the world alone.”
Lennok muttered.
“That is the answer given by the transcendental person who challenges ascension to heaven as a barrier priest. But even after shoving a miracle like this into reality it was still not enough…”
“…Have you come to a conclusion about the illusion?”
Evelyn grasped the context of what Lennok suddenly said and arrived at the correct answer in an instant.
Lennok nodded looking back at Evelyn’s expression which had suddenly become serious.
“It would be a good idea to decide what we need to do before we reach the final gate.”
“….”
“I don’t know who will be able to reach the end of the labyrinth. “Maybe the gate itself only allows one of the two in.”
“But then you are a magician more than me-”
“Listen to the end.”
After interrupting Evelyn Lennoc adjusted the throttle of his bike and said
“It doesn’t end when you reach the cradle. “We have to think about what happens after confirming the life or death of the ascendant.”
“….”
“In the worst case scenario one person may block the way and the other person may have to go inside. “It wouldn’t be surprising if time were further distorted inside the cradle.”
Lennok turned his head.
“If that happens no matter how I think about it it would be more reasonable for me to block the road and buy time. It’s the magician’s job to build defenses and add firepower. So if that situation comes up don’t hesitate.”
Lennok’s cold sunken eyes met Evelyn’s green eyes.
“We don’t know whether Zygis Ethernor is alive or dead but we must find out the fundamental reason that made him tick.”
“…okay.”
“It would have been nice if I could pass this on to other observers but there isn’t enough time to exchange information. This is because the labyrinth is much wider than I thought.”
As Lennok said that he turned his gaze forward again.
“There are probably quite a few people who are more interested in the legacy or artifacts than the Ascendants. When the situation becomes complicated we have no choice but to aim to gain the maximum benefit at that point…”
Evelyn placed her hand on Lennok’s shoulder as he muttered. Her face suddenly became cold.
“It’s at the front of the class.”
Lennok turned his head to follow the direction her gaze was directed and let out a muffled sigh.
“Okay… it’s starting to take off.”
Biyuuuung…!!
A ray of dark red light shot from a diagonal angle on the left was aimed precisely at the bridge on which the two people were running.
If it weren’t for the gloomy magic mania it wouldn’t be strange to think of it as Evelyn’s. It’s such an accurate and sharp pointed fire.
Competitors who passed the second gate discovered each other’s existence at the end of the bridge and began to keep in check.
The gently curved red magic light turns its head crookedly and aims precisely at the top of the bridge where the two people are running.
Crash!!
The leg which had become so strong that it could not even be scratched by Lennok’s revolver fire was shattered so easily that it was pointless.
The broken leg begins to repair quickly but the speed and extent of repair are difficult to support a heavy bike.
Lennok quickly recognized this and immediately extended his magician and turned his bike towards the bridge right next to him.
Good!!
The bike floated upward with thick tire tracks pressing into the bridge.
A heavy bike fell on the bridge next to it but the bridge which was much stronger than before easily withstood the impact.
“It doesn’t just happen once. They keep coming!”
Dark red flashes flashed one after another from beyond the dark void. If the exact same magic light flashes one after another it is unlikely that the target was a coincidence.
At Lennok’s words Evelyn stood up from the back of the bike she was sitting on.
“Keep going. “I will intercept you.”
Slam!!
Balance delicately on your tiptoes on the edge of the bike and reach your hands behind your back.
The bow attached to the back of the shud opened wide on both sides taking the form of a heavy longbow.
Evelyn also sensed that she could not counter a sniper shot fired from afar with the power of a shortbow.
Even as she retreated all the way to the back of the bike to secure the distance from which to draw the bow Evelyn’s complexion showed no signs of agitation.
Let’s go…!!
As she tied the arrow shaft to her string and leaned her shoulders back the green light that rose from her fingertips transferred to the arrowhead like a flame.
Aiming an arrow on a bike that goes so fast that she can’t really see the surroundings relying solely on her eyesight and senses.
The moment the bent fingers lost their strength a three-pronged green flash flew across the void.
Peeee!!
Immediately after they aimed accurately at them in the air and collided with the pouring dark red magical light.
Green and black-red magical light intertwined and exploded creating a dazzling light above the void.
In the aftermath magic rain continued to fall on all sides of the bridge creating a fierce fire.
Doo doo doo doo doo!!!!
I trampled the afterglow of magical power rising from various parts of the bridge with my bike and raced away.
In the heat the thick tires on the car body began to melt and a burnt smell began to rise but it was not the time to worry about such things.
“Can you pinpoint the sniper’s location?”
“no!”
Evelyn answered.
“The magic detection hasn’t been fully activated yet but I can’t see anything in front yet!”
Communication is not possible in the wind that blows ceaselessly.
However even after hearing Evelyn’s words Lennok nodded as if he had expected that to happen.
‘I think I know the basics.’
Hundreds of bridges across a vast void. The speed of time flowing differently for each leg.
And if you think about the illusions that walk on all of those bridges you can understand what that means.
The bridges of this labyrinth leading to the third gate represented all the derived futures that could have existed in a person’s life.
Warrior woodworker farmer shaman barrier priest engineer explorer… If we had lived with different possibilities the time felt within them would have been completely different.
If you recognize that the timeline flowing differently for each bridge means this you can understand why Lennok and Evelyn did not notice the presence of the gangsters earlier.
Only in the timeline ahead can one look back and recognize the existence of other possibilities.
This may be because in the same timeline you cannot actually perceive even the close future that could have existed for you.
The entirety of the ascendant’s thoughts that have been realized by unraveling the countless possibilities of humans in one labyrinth.
The Hanghasa Labyrinth was an otherworld realized by overlaying the countless possibilities on the labyrinth.
‘The legs starting to come together and the road becoming stronger little by little may be part of that.’
As we age and build up the hierarchy the number of possibilities that exist for humans decreases and instead the future becomes more solid.
Does this mean the process of completing and strengthening one’s self after going through a fragile and fragile childhood?
Even a faint sense of awe can be felt at Jindun’s idea of digging into a person’s inner self to the limit and completing a world.
Unlike Lennok who completed his imagery by drawing a future that has not yet arrived Jindun was drawing a perspective from the past looking back on the path he has already taken.
The direction of two people who chose a future that does not exist and a past that has already passed.
You will be able to find out which one is closer to the answer at the end of this navigational labyrinth.
Damn it…!!
The more he constantly looks around and observes all around and absorbs new knowledge and know-how the deeper the crack in Lennok’s magical eye becomes.
However Lennok was immersed in worry without even realizing that fact.
‘It would be nice if I could see and observe a little more… but the problem is time.’
If Lennok’s thoughts are correct eventually all competitors who enter this labyrinth will reach their destination at a similar time from the moment they arrive at this bridge whether late or early.
In the end the countless mazes of possibilities embodied within this labyrinth must lead to the existence of an ascendant named Jindun.
In other words the advantage of the two people who passed the second gate relatively quickly is fading away.
In the end it was no different from saying that there had to be a race to take the lead over the last hurdle.
“Evan!!”
Paaaaa!!
At that moment at the same time as Evelyn shouted Lennok woke up from his thoughts and suddenly looked down at his feet.
The angle between the fast-running legs suddenly narrows and merges into one huge road.
The boundaries disappeared and competitors like Lennok racing on different vehicles began to appear from all over the huge bridge that stretched out endlessly.
No words were needed.
Recognizing each other’s presence the labyrinth entrants simultaneously raised their magic power and extended it towards each other with all their might.
Quaaaaaaa!!
Widespread waves of magic collide with sharp thorns that stand up like awls creating a shock wave.
As if affected by the shock wave the empty landscape surrounding the bridge cleared away revealing the labyrinth’s landscape.
Even the superhumans who were throwing their guns at each other burst into silence at the shocking sight.
“Huh…!!”
“I’m crazy!!”
“This doesn’t make any sense!”
A huge empty space in a labyrinth filled with a vast emptiness.
Below it there were huge statues of evil spirits that were probably about ten meters tall lined up in a tight row.
An evil spirit statue with a human body but its face is as hideous as a demon. The sight of each person holding a weapon and looking up at the bridge is truly terrifying.
The stone statues which seemed to be hundreds in number filled the labyrinth with an ugly and lively appearance and energy as if they could come to life at any moment.
And the end of that magnificent group of evil spirits.
The appearance of a gigantic gateway that extends from the dark hollow sky to the ground.
A golden pattern glows faintly between the pure white doors dazzlingly illuminating the bridge that is getting wider and closer together.
Everyone who saw the beautiful gateway realized something.
The third and final gateway. The final road to the cradle.
The end of the labyrinth was just around the corner.
