Drug-Eating Genius Mage – 22

Travel by sedan.
As you enter the 10th District area you can see high-rise buildings scattered everywhere.
Memories of the day the delegation arrived came back to me along with the scenery that was now starting to become familiar to me.
‘I faced Cheongyeon near there.’
Although it was a short meeting the conversation with her left a deep impression on Lennok’s mind.
If that could be called the status of an ascendant he would have been closer to ascending than anyone else.
Lennok did not easily forget Madrea’s warning but he also could not easily find the right answer.
Alkaid. In order to find a clue to that word I searched the resources using my cell phone and even the help of Jenny at the library but I couldn’t find any results.
If the Ascendant directly tells you to be careful it may not be something ordinary but I never thought it would be so shrouded in mystery.
In order to avoid danger you must eventually uncover the secret.
And that too was not possible as just a freelancer.
It wasn’t long before we passed the wide well-paved road and arrived at Dyke’s headquarters building.
An underground parking lot beneath a dizzyingly tall high-rise building.
Killian opened the door and got out of the car and immediately started walking ahead.
“Do you know what our company does?”
“…roughly.”
As can be seen by looking at the laser cutting machine used by Lennok Dyke Corporation is a company that has grown from a factory that originally manufactured industrial tools.
Currently it is well known that it has entered not only the industrial equipment but also the weapons business based on its powerful capital power.
Because of this I heard that there was a war of nerves with Achilles which previously manufactured security equipment and other military products but it does not seem to have been a big enough crisis to close down the business.
Leave the parking lot immediately catch the elevator and head to the upper floor.
The elevator soars upward in an instant along with the feeling of your body sinking.
Outside the transparent glass door the forest of buildings in the 10th district was visible at a glance.
“If you knew it would be quicker to talk about it. Our planning team leader wants to hire you. “She will tell you the details but if everything goes well you will be hired temporarily to work as part of the support team.”
“I haven’t heard a word about what we’re going to do yet.”
“I’m bringing the wizard here to hear that from now on.”

The elevator door opened and a neatly decorated hallway unfolded.
The interior is clean with a thick carpet on the floor and a gentle warm breeze blowing from somewhere.
Killian immediately walked down the hallway opened the unusually large glass door and went inside.
“Panoa. I brought it. “It’s this guy.”
“…I should have asked you to contact me in advance when you came in.”
The woman wearing glasses who was looking at the monitor slowly turned her head and answered.
He has an average appearance but the corners of his mouth are stiff giving him a somewhat determined feel.
She looked Lennok up and down with a calm gaze and offered him a seat.
“You worked hard to get here. “Please sit down first.”
As I sat down on the sofa across from the desk Panoa tapped on the keyboard a few more times for a moment then got up and approached Lennok.
She expertly brewed a cup of something similar to tea and handed it to him then sat down across from him and looked at him quietly.
“Can I go now?”
She responded without turning her head to the words of Killian who was watching her from behind.
“I’ve sent you about 4 other resumes by email so check them all and prioritize them to secure them. “I’ll call you later to check.”
Only after Killaine left the office muttering and closing the door did Panoa extend his hand towards Lennok.
“nice to meet you. “My name is Dyke’s planning team leader Panoa Bellucci.”
“It’s half.”
After shaking each other’s hands briefly Lennok asked.
“I have a question.”
“Yes you say so.”
“If you are the head of the planning team what is your share of the company?”
“I’d like to ask why you’re curious about that.”
“I want to know exactly on what scale Dyke wants to hire me. To be honest I didn’t get a detailed explanation.”
He gestured to the glass door with his chin and continued speaking.
“It seems difficult to expect anything from that werewolf.”
Perhaps because his words were quite unexpected Panoa’s answer was delayed for a moment.
“…You know that Killian is a werewolf. Did he tell you?”
“no.”
Lennok answered.
“After killing one I got a general feel for it.”
“……..”
Panoa who had been silent spoke.
“Armed conflict between support teams is strictly prohibited.”
“That’s for me to decide after listening to their story.”
Panoa seemed to have realized that there was some sort of nervous war between the two just from those words.
“…It seems like there was some disrespect on Killian’s part. “I apologize on your behalf.”
He was a very quick-witted person. There seemed to be no needless pride.

“So what is the answer to my question?”
“I just want you to know that you can be directly involved in the business direction of the headquarters. And hiring a half-mage is part of a project I personally proposed to the board of directors.”
Panoa’s eyes lit up as if he had been waiting.
Lennok did not miss the way she absentmindedly touched the watch on her left hand as she said that.
“Since entering the weapons business we have been continuously looking for opportunities to expand our business base. “The 40th and 50th districts… Residents outside of that area also have enough potential to become our customers.”
It’s outside. ‘Inside’ seems to call the place where Lennok works.
“I’m not confident in sales.”
“I know. Because that’s not what we want. We’re looking for highly skilled freelancers who can work outside. “He is outstanding but on the other hand his name is not yet widely known… such a contradictory worker.”
There is no need to hear who that means.
Panoa’s intense gaze was already pointing to the correct answer.
“After the Deep Web which had been closed due to the Ascendant’s visit was reopened many inquiries must have come to the wizard. But we were the most eager and the fastest.”
“……”
“A truly rare and skilled wizard who works alone. Even the requests I had already succeeded in were all major. If you survive against a veteran of the Battle of Pandemonium there is no need to doubt your skills. “Other clients are probably excited too.”
“What do you want to say?”
I don’t know if he was drunk with excitement or because he was trying to persuade Lennok but he spoke at length.
Up until this point I had tried to keep my answers to myself considering the position of a large company called Dyke but it seemed like if I didn’t stop here the meaningless praise would continue endlessly.
Panoa’s eyes can be seen shining slightly behind the glasses.
Probably through these questions and answers they are able to immediately understand Lennok’s personality and respond accordingly.
Lennok clearly guessed it but he waited for her to think.
If a company as large as Dyke is so involved the compensation offered to Lennok will be quite high.
Especially considering that their contacts were presented shortly after the deep web was opened.
If Lennok can get his hands on even one thing he wants through them…
After a moment of silence Panoa spoke again.
“I plan to reorganize the plan to expand the business base in the 40th district.”
“……..”
“In other words there are some obstacles that need to be cleared in order to sell our products in that area. “I hope the wizard will help with that task.”
resolve
Panoa made a bombshell statement with a calm face and quietly waited for Lennok’s answer.
Lennok who was deep in thought slowly opened his mouth.
“I don’t understand.”
“What are you talking about?”
“A company the size of Dyke would not lack military resources but I don’t know why this request was made. And that too in person with the planning team leader.”
The plan itself to push out those currently controlling the arms market in the 40th District is understandable.
However trying to borrow Lennok’s help in the process was a completely different matter.
“There are two reasons.”
Panoa answered immediately.
“One is that the anti-mage is a skilled freelancer who has built a career so quickly that it is difficult to find any examples in the outside world…. Among them he is a wizard.”
“I don’t need to explain how difficult it is to find a skilled wizard” she continued.
“Secondly you can gain some cause by promoting freelancers working in that field. In fact this is the biggest reason.”
“It’s a cause.”
“If we deploy troops to outside areas in our name there is a high possibility that we will be subject to all kinds of checks and will not be able to get our money back. However if we control the direction indirectly through Mr. Ban Wizard competitors will not be able to protest much at least outwardly.”
The 40th district is close to a lawless zone where people run under the permission of the city government but they strictly follow the unwritten rule of operating according to the physiology of the market.
If this is violated and dinosaur companies start taking action one by one external order will collapse and the profit structure will be ruined.
And that was certainly not the ending the higher-ups in city government wanted.
“……..”
Lennok nodded looking at the cold smile on Panoa’s lips.
In short isn’t the plan to get rid of business competitors in the 40th district by appointing Lennok as his agent?
The illegal weapons dealers gangs and violent organizations operating there… The intention is to eliminate the complicated business structure in the back alleys and take the remaining piece of the pie.
It is a plan that is not possible without being bold and taking risks.
Dyke isn’t the first company to think like this.
But such circumstances are not something Lennok should worry about.
The most important question remained.
“What can you give me in return for all that work?”
Without saying anything Panoa turned on the screen next to the office.
“I know that the wizard is looking for several very rare items. “As befits his outstanding skills he has a very particular eye.”
“……..”
Lennok who had never expected such words to come from the mouth of a planning team leader working at a large company like Dyke remained silent.
“But our desire to work with the wizard is sincere. “If you look at this item you will be convinced.”
The screen quickly turns on and a photo appears.
Five yellowed pencils preserved until just before they were worn out.
It was stored in a very thick glass case with the joints tied tightly with pale fluorescent chains.
Nevertheless it cannot overcome the power emanating from within and emits blurry waves in all directions.
The moment Lennok saw it he immediately recognized that it was an unusual item.
Panoa’s explanation continues.
“This is the ‘Five Fingers of Enakpil’ up for sale at the VIP auction sponsored by the Central Council. It is equipped with five types of evasive maneuver magic granted by the Maladis School and is known as a safety product that is only given as a gift to VIPs who deal directly with the school.”
She said glancing at Lennok.
“It’s definitely not something you can get just by having money and it’s definitely not something you can easily find at auction.”
“……”
“Five times. If you do exactly the five requests we want we promise to obtain this product and hand it over to you. In addition for each successful request we will pay additional compensation based on the deep web ransom.”
As the screen moves along with that a contract comes to mind. The compensation listed there was not an amount that even today’s Lenno could ignore.
It seemed like she had prepared very carefully for this moment.
“How do you feel?”
A confident smile. Confidence that Lennok knows exactly what he wants.
Was the lengthy explanation and unwavering confident attitude all based on this?
But it cannot be denied.
An enchanted artifact. It is also a consumable that can make up for the mobility that Lennok lacks the most.
I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not but isn’t it the most helpful equipment for him right now and a clue to research enchantment?
After confirming the reality no words of rejection came out of Lennok’s mouth.
All I could do was reply and ask for time to think about it.
