    Gift(2)

As Lennok said that he turned around and walked down the lighthouse without hesitation.

He felt Lapis’ gaze not leaving his back but she did not stop him.

We already knew that he intended to leave the Dominion as soon as his body recovered.

I came out of the lighthouse ignoring the greetings pouring in from the audience in the spacious hall.

It’s already been a week since we settled down here but now it’s time to head back to the autonomous territory.

After arriving in the Dominion work was so busy that I lost contact with Jenny.

I also had to check what was happening in the Balkans while he was away.

That incredibly huge city was a place where no matter what happened day after day nothing strange happened.

If Lennok said he was leaving an unprecedented number of people would come out to see him off.

That kind of welcome is not very welcoming.

I quietly disappeared and walked towards the dock where the wing boats were located.

As I was passing through the dense forest in between I saw Seong-myeong standing with his eyes closed leaning against a tree.

    “….”

A cold expression that is completely different from the one that showed only slightly misaligned admiration and loyalty.

I’ve never seen him fight in person but considering his neat spirit magical power and the attitude other observers treated him with he must have been a very capable person.

However even though he failed to make any real contribution in this battle he did not show it once.

It was proof that he was a warrior who was thoroughly trained not only on the outside but also on the inside.

He slightly opened his eyes and stared at Lennok then slowly nodded.

Lennok who understood the meaning of the nod also passed him by without saying a word and headed toward the dock.

“I hope to see you in a similar situation next time.”

There was no need for an answer to the soft voice coming from behind me.

Myeongseong had already suddenly hidden his presence and appearance.

I passed like a ghost among the watchers returning to the lighthouse after a busy day naturally selected a wingboat and took the wheel.

No one noticed its movement until the moment it rose above the clouds and escaped the celestial magic barrier.

The fact that the location of the lighthouse was never discovered even with so many observers coming and going in real time proves how powerful the astronomical magic given to this lighthouse was.

As we flew above the clouds reflecting the sunlight and reached the quiet sky Dabi opened his mouth.

[Now this is the end of seeing this scenery.]

“I guess you liked it a lot?”

    [well.]

Dabi peeked his head out from inside the embrace and answered.

[I don’t know but looking down on people like this from a high place… gives me a strange feeling.]

    “….”

Perhaps Lennok was not a war spirit but rather showed the world the natural talents of a king?

It is true that when I listen to this guy’s words these days I feel an absurd feeling that does not fit Lennok’s situation at all.

Lennok shook off his absurd feelings and turned the steering wheel in the direction Dabi was looking.

As the sea level approaches the sunlight splits into smaller pieces and reflects dazzlingly illuminating the eyes of the wizard and the spirit.

The smell of salty salt and the cool sea breeze hit your face.

    Huuuu-!!

Lennoc let go of the wingboat running on the sea and muttered while looking blankly at the scenery beyond.

“okay. “Sometimes there are days when I like something like this.”

I can never say that many good things have happened since I opened my eyes in this world.

At least today’s scene remains in Lennok’s memory.

The beautiful scenes of floating islands that would never have been encountered outside of this world gradually become more distant.

My time in the Dominion was coming to an end.

    * * *

The foggy cliff where we first rented a wingboat.

The borderline where the updraft loses its power and this convenient means of transportation becomes useless.

Lennok returned the device to the young man who first rented the wingboat.

It doesn’t matter if you are a resident of the autonomous territory but outsiders must leave a record of wingboat rental/return while coming and going from the floating island colony.

Due to the recent appearance of a heterogeneous species many of the outsiders who visited the Dominion fled as soon as the barrier was lifted.

Of course it seems that there were some crazy people who liked this phenomenon thinking that it was an intensification of the Dominion’s unique natural phenomenon but at least Akyasha did not seem to have that kind of taste.

Lennok turned his head without hesitation after seeing that her pseudonym Cassia was written in the ledger recording the rental and return of the wingboat.

At least he could have given a brief explanation of what happened but it seems he had to return to the Balkans first due to circumstances.

All that remains is to wait for the train back to the Balkans.

Fortunately considering the length of time Lennok had been lying in the lighthouse it seemed like he could roughly fit the train schedule that the broker had mentioned.

As he sat at the old train station waiting for his time someone sat down next to him.

Lennok suddenly turned his head and laughed when he saw the familiar bronze skin.

“If you wanted to say hello you could have done so at the Dominion but why are you trembling here?”

“You idiot it’s just a habit to talk to adults.”

“That’s not something you should hear from someone who called the Ascendant a grandmother.”

A bread hat and a trench coat. Clothing chosen for camouflage must be a very anachronistic fashion sense.

Does a stubborn shaman reveal his or her individuality in these little details?

Grisha who was covering his face with a hat and sunglasses sighed at Lennok’s words.

“Well I didn’t come all this way because of you. “I originally planned to leave the Dominion again right away when I saw the face of the guy who said he had inherited my grandmother’s message.”

    “You live a busy life.”

It wasn’t something Lennok would say but considering her words and actions when he first met her it was natural.

In fact Grisha is probably one of the most powerful forces in Blue’s eyes.

Naturally the Blue Eye is bound to be the top priority in all operations carried out.

In addition Lapis seems to be defining the Blue Eye’s activity area regardless of the location so naturally she who has no power is bound to be busy.

The first time we met was quite unpleasant but now I was somewhat accepting of her.

“I also had something to tell you. Take it.”

Grisha said so took something out of his pocket and threw it at Lennok.

Lennoc missed it as if it was obvious and picked up the item that had fallen on the ground with a nonchalant expression.

A small doll the size of a thumb.

It was difficult to say that it was a good design even with good words when looking at the crooked letters and the many unknown characters engraved on them.

    “For a gift it’s very… disgraceful.”

Grisha chuckled at Lennok’s honest feelings.

“That’s what witchcraft is all about. Don’t say anything just take it and take it with you. “It will be helpful if you meet a kind-hearted shaman like me later.”

“Ho-oh is this something you need to show off your connections? “Then the story is a little different.”

Lenok with a smile on his face as if it were a lie took the doll and put it inside his coat.

Grisha nodded taking out a bear bag from his arms and biting into it.

“okay. Well I don’t think there will be many people who recognize this but… in a big city at least one person will recognize you and take care of you.”

    “Sounds like fun.”

Lennok also laughed at Grisha’s bold remarks.

“Let’s see if their reputation is great enough to say it with such confidence.”

“okay. “Unless we both get lost somewhere.”

    “….”

    Grisha continued calmly.

“I don’t think either you or I will live forever and enjoy our lives to the end.”

“You have a knack for saying stupid things.”

“It’s not wrong. To be honest I envied my grandmother.”

She slightly lowered her head and lit the candle.

Inhaling the burning smoke I stare blankly down at the rusty railroad tracks.

“It was a life full of ups and downs but in the end my grandmother left after accomplishing everything she had to do and could do. In the end he even had the insight to deliver a message to you not me. “I always thought he was an annoying old man… but maybe I just wanted to be accepted by that old man in the end.”

    “….”

“Well it doesn’t really matter now. “I’m not the kind of person with a lot of regrets to hold on to a dead person for a long time.”

As Grisha said that he quickly left his seat and stood up lightly.

“Maybe the old lady didn’t want us to stop the Pandemonium… but even so I plan to support Lapis Falseer until the end.”

She looked down at Lennok with determination.

“So I want you to take a good look at the choice you made and then judge for yourself. “Which one chose the right path in the end?”

It is almost certain that the answer comes down to this era.

Grisha left without giving up his thoughts until the end.

I may have intended to give this small doll as a gift for the sake of justification but this was probably closer to what I really wanted to do.

She too appeared calm on the outside but was confused by the fact that the Ascendant left nothing behind for Lapis and herself.

Even though I know very well that in fact it has no meaning.

Lennok leaned back in his chair in silence and looked up at the sky.

It is a world where it is difficult to face anything properly.

Just as Lennok continues to run away from the rest of his life the others also find it difficult to face what they must do.

A life like a flame that was born and then fades away in vain.

It is always up to you to discover your own meaning within it.

And Lennok was still pondering the meaning.

While I was lost in thought I saw faint smoke rising beyond the horizon.

Lennok stopped thinking and slowly stood up.

I stumbled for a moment because my legs were weak but as always I quickly regained my balance.

It was time to head back to the Balkans.

    * * *

To put it in perspective the time spent in the Dominion was a little over two weeks but it was true that it felt much longer.

Running all over Philenom chasing the traces of the drug lord was enough to erode Lennok’s mental strength.

So Lennok felt awkward returning to the sights of a huge city after such a long time.

“I didn’t know I would miss the smell of smoke like this…”

The unpleasant fumes of the 50th block burning cheap fuel seem a distant memory to Lennok.

“Hey there rag!! “Give me all your money and get out!”

Suddenly even the face of a bully who starts a trivial argument looks friendly so isn’t this already the level of mental illness?

Lennok was lost in thought as he smashed the face of a gangster who rushed at him with an old gun with a bolt.

In any case now is the time to take off the many layers of disguise and return to your normal self.

‘There’s a lot of work to do.’

Studying the magic realized in the Dominion and analyzing the essence of alchemy.

I have to take Malabeth to the medicine shop to get medicine and I have to show my face as Evan again at the university where I was on leave.

Also we should listen to the story about taking control of the underbelly of Balkan that Jenny talked about before leaving.

Apart from being physically tired the schedule that made him feel dizzy just thinking about it awaited him but Lennok tried to gather his energy.

It’s been a long time since I was able to send any news to Jenny because there was no time to contact me in the Dominion.

I thought the first thing to do would be to change to the class’s face and then go to the bar to hear what happened so far.

‘I guess I should change my tattered coat first. ‘Is there a clothing store near the bar?’

While thinking that I walked towards Area 49 and suddenly someone started talking to me next to me.

“I heard somewhere that he died but was he still alive?”

    “….”

“There were a lot of rumors that he was assassinated without anyone noticing because the bar didn’t show up until that point… but that was just bullshit.”

Lennok who had a hard time hearing those words turned his head.

A large bald man who was chain-smoking slowly turned his head to see that gaze.

“…I wasn’t telling you to listen to anything. “I apologize if I got on your nerves.”

“No there’s something I want to ask you more than that.”

“Hmm I don’t have much but if you get ripped off like this…”

“Did something happen to Jenny’s bar?”

    “what?”

The bald head widened his eyes behind his sunglasses as if he was rather surprised by those words.

“Oh my god District 49 is in an uproar because of that and you don’t know?”

    “There are circumstances.”

“Then the rumor that he was away somewhere all this time was true….”

    “At least answer the question.”

The man nodded calmly at Lennok’s cold words.

The long words were quickly condensed to just the essentials.

“Jenny started a business. And then the cartel moved. “Thanks to you the bar is now a mess.”
