Drug-Eating Genius Mage – 1
by Jessie@AFNCC
“Lenok, wake up!”
Despite the harsh shouting that shook his ears he turned over rubbing his eyes that wouldn’t open.
It was an unconscious action but the voice did not speak twice.
slam!
He rolled off the bed with such a strong impact that it felt like his jaw was going to fall off and his eyes widened.
A thick furry giant with a face oozing murder was looking down at him with bloodshot eyes.
The giant growled lowly as he stepped on his face with the boot he was wearing.
“It’s work time. Run to the parts room right away. Do you understand?”
“…..All right.”
The voice was so hoarse that even I was surprised.
As soon as he heard the answer the giant walked out of the room.
Only then was he able to find the time to cup his numb cheek and look around.
A narrow room filled with simple beds covered in grime-covered sheets. About 10 people were looking at him with pitiful eyes.
“You stupid bastard. “I was just sleeping without even knowing that the supervisor was here…”
“Leave it alone. You know very well that it’s not long before you find out. Knowing that the supervisor didn’t just slap me in the face and move on.”
“Well if I beat that guy I might actually die.”
They were talking amongst themselves like that then they got up and disappeared somewhere leaving him behind.
He was listening to people in a daze and then he raised his hands and fumbled with his body.
A skinny body with palpable ribs. Forearms as thin as tree branches and calves with visible veins.
The body of a sick person completely different from the one he had remembered for his entire life was beneath his head.
“…….”
He staggered to his feet and only realized everything after standing in front of a small mirror hanging in a corner of a room filled with musty air.
The sight of the young man clutching his swollen cheek in the broken mirror was very similar to the third character he had created on the other side of the monitor.
“Lenok… I said so.”
A character created simply to enjoy the game without any meaning or value.
That insignificant body which he couldn’t even give a proper name to because it was so annoying was all he had now.

Lennok was thrown into a new world without even being able to complain.
awakening
Coo!
“Move quickly!”
The supervisor shouts loudly as he walks around the vast parts room.
Clumsily assembled metal parts were scattered around on a conveyor belt that was constantly moving.
“It will soon be time for the union members to collect the products. How long are you planning on delaying?”
As the furry giant scolded the workers with bloodshot eyes the hands of those standing in front of the belt became a little faster.
The giant was not satisfied with that so he swung a small horsewhip in his hand and beat two or three workers standing nearby before turning his back as if his anger was relieved.
“If you don’t make it on time you better be prepared! “I have no intention of letting trash that can’t even keep its quota sleep!!”
Lennok who had been watching the scene from afar turned his gaze back to the piece of metal he was holding in his hand.
Three days have already passed since he woke up in this unknown parts manufacturing facility called ‘Factory’.
Although he still knew nothing Lennok became accustomed to the monotonous routine of the factory surprisingly quickly.
I wake up before the sun rises work until I collapse from exhaustion and before I go to sleep I receive a bowl of porridge that is worse than food waste.
The labor that takes all day is assembling scattered metal parts and placing them on the conveyor belt.
There was nothing Lennok could do other than accept this monotonous arduous routine that he didn’t even need to understand.
Even if he tries to ask something the workers stationed around him stubbornly refuse to talk to him.
It was only a day ago that they noticed that the way they looked at Lennoc was no different from looking at an already dead body.
“Ha ha ha….”
In the parts room which is not even properly ventilated workers’ sweat and bad smells mix and spread into steam that hangs on the ceiling.
Just because he couldn’t breathe in fresh air Lennok’s body quickly became short of breath and heat spread.
If nothing else the feeling of alienation from this body which was so different from his previous self was bothering Lennok terribly.
The hellishly hard labor which makes you feel like you’re going to lose your breath at any moment continues for over ten hours without the slightest break.
The good news was that even when Lennok stopped assembling the parts others did not criticize him.
The supervisor only clicked his tongue when he saw Lennok’s pale face and did not seem to have any intention of wasting his labor by touching his dying body.
From the moment Lennok realized this fact he gradually developed tricks and was somehow able to hold out until the working hours were over.
After what felt like an eternity of working hours Lennok received a bowl of dry porridge as planned downed it in an instant and went to bed.
I closed my eyes staring at the dark ceiling but my consciousness was still clear.
It was insomnia.
“Damn it…”
It’s already been 3 days since I haven’t been able to sleep properly.
Lennok had a rough guess as to where this terrible insomnia came from.
One of the many penalties he applied when setting up his character. Insomnia which has reached the level of a characteristic is tormenting him.
What was even more grim was that the penalty inflicted on this body was not just insomnia.
All kinds of diseases and symptoms that inherently weaken his body are eating away at Lennok and dragging him down.
How long can I last?
What was certain was that the time given to him was not very long.

I did not think that my body which had become weak to the limit would be able to survive for long in the arduous working environment.
I thought about it for three days but the conclusion was decided from the beginning.
‘We have to escape from here.’
He withers to death in the factory but is caught and killed while running away but for Lennok it is just the same ending.
I had no intention of turning the stinking parts room into a graveyard.
The good news is that not all circumstances are unfavorable for Lennok.
Perhaps because he was already treated as a mortal Lennok had less control than the other workers and the other workers did not pay much attention to his actions.
If you can take advantage of this and figure out the structure of the factory it will be possible to plan an escape route.
Moreover the most important thing is that this body is not just weak and useless.
In this world if Lennok’s body suffered from insomnia and other penalties Lennok’s talent would also have the same.
A magical talent that has been imbued with all sorts of bad traits. The talent that was filled to the limit lies dormant in Lennok’s body.
If he could somehow utilize his talent escaping from this factory was not an impossible possibility.
“…….”
Lennok knows it too.
In this situation where hard work and insomnia have pushed you to the limit mentally and physically the person you are now who calmly organizes the situation and makes plans is a completely different person from before.
He knew that he was not the type of person who could maintain reason in a situation like this.
It is probably the result of the mental talents such as calmness concentration and boldness that he filled in when creating the character.
At that time we only invested in the mental abilities necessary for a wizard but as a result it served as a driving force that allowed Lennok who had worked for three days and nights to still maintain his sanity.
Lennoc did not believe in the romanticism that human mental abilities depend on the soul. Rational thinking a cool mind and rational logic are all talents of the body called the brain.
The mental strength that allowed him to maintain his cool right now was definitely part of the talent that this weak body possessed.
The first step to overcoming the current situation is to clearly recognize that it is Lennok’s talent and not the old self who pressed the character creation button.
I will not let down my guard even for a moment until I leave this hellish factory.
Lennoc scolded himself like that and forced his eyes shut.
