Chapter 0055 – Lace (2 / 2)
by Jessie@AFNCCAs soon as the words fell out of her mouth, she snapped back to Song Yu’er’s previous mission of being tasked with inquiring about information.
“The thing you asked Song Yuel to inquire about has something to do with tonight’s banquet?”
She pursued.
He nodded gently, a hint of surprise in his tone, “I only learned by chance after coming to Jiangjiang that there is a dinner party hosted by the Northern Italy Chamber of Commerce this evening.”
Su Wanqing frowned slightly, her heart filled with doubts, “What is their purpose?”
“North Italian business community intent on expanding business footprint in China.”
Qi Zhi Iu said as he pulled out his cell phone from his pocket, and after a few taps of his fingertips, he sent the relevant information directly to her.
She quickly skimmed through it and realized that it covered a staggeringly wide range of industries, including finance, insurance, tourism, hotels, and restaurants.
“Competition in the domestic market is already fierce, and the involvement of overseas companies will undoubtedly make the cake even hotter. It’s both an opportunity and a challenge for big companies, while for many small and medium-sized enterprises, it could mean a more brutal test of survival.”
Her analysis is straight to the point, precise and insightful.
Qi Zhiyu sniffed and raised his eyebrows, a flash of appreciation in his eyes, “The survival of the fittest is supposed to be the law of nature.”
“You want to work with them?”
Su Wanqing put away her cell phone, her tone calm but hard to hide her curiosity.
“Uh-huh.”
He smiled bashfully, absently brushing the corners of his coat as if clearing away the dust that wasn’t there, “So, you must accompany me.”
“Those well-capitalized bigwigs are never short of beautiful women to accompany them, once they ask about my identity, how can I give a reasonable explanation?”
She asked a practical question, a glint of sanity in her eye.
Su Wanqing asked casually, with an offhanded curiosity in her tone that seemed careless, yet implied exploration.
“Mrs. Ki!”
As he shouted, his gaze was like a torch, locked onto her, those deep eyes rolling with complex emotions like the dark night’s frenzied tide, in which faintly flickered a few strands of almost paranoid crimson, like the shimmering light before a wildfire starts to blaze, which made people inscrutable and couldn’t help but be chilled.
Su Wanqing’s heart shook violently, as if struck by an invisible arrow, the smile on her lips froze, her lips opened slightly, but she could not make any sound due to excessive astonishment, only silent ripples remained spreading in the air, revealing the ups and downs of her heart.
Silence spread quietly between the two, like a heavy curtain slowly falling.
After a long time, she finally struggled to squeeze out a response, “Public opinion, life or shopping malls, every step has both its advantages and disadvantages.”
After she spoke, her gaze had a few more points of insight into the vicissitudes of the world, as if she was telling of the storms she had experienced in the past.
“The mall, it’s a world of traps and pitfalls, aren’t you worried that one day you’ll be caught in a carefully laid out net by someone else doing the same to you?”
Her words were laced with concern and caution, words that were thoughtful and sincere reminders.
He smiled gently and pulled up her hand, his movements were gentle but with a force that could not be refused, placing her hand in front of his own, and then planting a kiss on it, that action was filled with an unspeakable ambiguity and desire for exclusivity.
In his eyes, that shallow smile seemed to travel through time and space, overlapping in the memory of the past, when he was also like this against the dazzling sunlight, with a gentle smile, to just finish the morning run, breath slightly panting she handed over a bottle of cool water, the moment of gentleness and caring, so far, still let a person’s heart touching.
“Su Wanqing, this time, you are truly impressive!”
His words were like a gentle afternoon breeze that cut through the cracks of time and still touched her heartstrings, causing a palpitating reverberation.
At this moment, that heart, which had been sealed for many years and was used to being calm and unruly, suddenly jumped without any pattern, as if it had been awakened by some kind of power, and began to try to break free from the shackles and yearn for freedom.
She unconsciously tightened her grip on the other hand that hung at her side, passing each other’s warmth between her fingers, while at the same time exerting a secret pressure, trying to use it to suppress the emotions that were about to overflow inside her, not allowing them to easily leak out.
