Chapter 0055 – Lace (1 / 2)
by Jessie@AFNCC“I don’t want to be the center of all that fluff.”
She whispered, a flash of the past in her eyes that she didn’t want to touch.
After all, that might once again unveil the dusty past between her and Knight Banquet Boat, the scar at the bottom of her heart that she was most reluctant to touch.
“Don’t worry, I’ll send someone to keep a close eye on her.”
Qi Zhi Iu’s eyes instantly became stern, but his tone remained unperturbed, as if everything was in his tent.
“That couldn’t be better.”
Su Wanqing nodded slightly and without further words, she took the lead in taking the lead and walking alone in the cool night color.
Qi Zhiyu didn’t follow, and she was happy to enjoy the rare peace and quiet.
The first thing she did when she got back to that cozy little cottage was to check on the injured puppy.
The puppy shriveled up in its cage, and when it saw the figure of its master, a glimmer of light suddenly flickered in its dull eyes, and it gave a wail with a touch of resignation and anticipation.
She gently pushed open the cage door and called out gently, “Come out, little one.”
The puppy looked at her half-heartedly, leaning forward slightly and stepping cautiously out of the cage.
As if it knew it had inadvertently hurt her earlier, it rolled over of its own accord before she could reach out to soothe it, baring its most vulnerable belly in an act of apology and trust.
“It’s okay, I know you didn’t mean it.”
She stroked its head gently, her voice full of forgiveness and understanding, “You’re just scared, everything will be fine.”
Pulling the dog snack from the vet out of her pocket, she asked softly, “Want some?”
The puppy came close enough to sniff, and then his tail wagged merrily, a simple joy without the slightest pretense.
She tore open the package and carefully passed it to its mouth.
The little being that had once resisted eating was now slowly beginning to enjoy it.
“It seems that you’ve stopped being so nervous.”
She was secretly delighted, but the puppy’s health still needed to be professionally confirmed.
So she quickly grabbed her cell phone and searched for information on nearby pet hospitals.
The screen showed that the nearest pet hospital was open from eight in the morning until midnight, a full hundred kilometers away.
The round trip takes two hours if the roads are in good condition and at least three hours during rush hour.
I’m afraid I still need to consult with Qi Zhiyu on this matter.
“Go into the cage first and wait for me to come back.”
She spoke softly to the puppy, and as if he could understand human language, the little fellow obediently returned to his cage, eyeing her back.
The moment he stepped into the living room, he happened to collide with Qi Zhiyu, who had just returned.
“I plan to take the puppy to the vet later.”
She opened her mouth.
“Let the bodyguard do it, you have to accompany me to a party tonight.”
Qi Zhi Iu lowered his voice, his expression unusually serious, obviously this matter was not trivial.
“What party?”
