    Chapter Index

“Although the facilities in the estate are complete, the specialized examination equipment for pets is not. If you wish to give it a full medical checkup, it’s best to have it done at a professional pet hospital.”

The other man’s words were gentle and professional, with a hint of hopelessness.

She turned her head, and with a hint of help in her gaze, she looked at Qi Zhiyu beside her, a silent plea and dependence.

“But the vet hospital is located in the center of town and we’re, you know, kind of in the suburbs, so I’m afraid a trip back and forth would take quite a bit of time.”

Qi Zhiyu’s words revealed helplessness and consideration for this fact.

Su Wanqing suddenly remembered something that the maid had inadvertently mentioned earlier, “It seems like someone came to look for you just now, did you go to see them?”

Qi Zhi Iu gently shook his head, an imperceptible hesitation flashing in his deep eyes, “I can bring it myself so that it won’t disturb you.”

Su Wanqing keenly captured his concern, “No, it won’t delay you. I’m really worried about its state.”

Looking at the puppy’s listless appearance, Su Wanqing’s brows were filled with worry, and she couldn’t let go in her heart.

A light flashed in Qi Zhiyu’s eyes, a hint of firmness in his calm voice, “Then, how about letting my bodyguards take it to the hospital? They’ll take care of it.”

“However, the puppy already has an emergency response to the outside world now, and if he is sent alone by a stranger to an unfamiliar place, I’m worried that he will be even more frightened and his reaction may be even stronger.”

Su Wanqing’s retort was filled with concern for the puppy.

“Even if you accompany it to the trip, you’ll have to give it to the doctor at the end of the day; you can’t be with it all the time.”

There was both rationality and tenderness in Qi Zhiyu’s tone.

While the two were arguing, a handsome young man interjected, “Sorry to interrupt, but I think it would be better if the owner accompanied the dog. This young lady has a point, the puppy is already in a state of stress, and when it encounters unfamiliar people and environments, it is likely to have thoughts of fleeing.”

“Wouldn’t it be a bigger loss if the dog ran away in that situation?”

Su Wanqing raised an eyebrow at him, the confidence in her eyes even greater than earlier, as if she had found a resonance.

Qi Zhiyu’s eyes fell on the drooping puppy in Su Wanqing’s arms, his brows furrowed slightly, and he finally nodded in compromise, “Alright, I’ll go with you later.”

He was uneasy about her going out on her own, and that latent concern overflowed.

Learning that the puppy was able to get a full checkup, Su Wanqing’s face blossomed into a smile of relief, “Hear that, baby, just bear with me for a little while longer.”

    “Make sure you’re healthy!”

Before she left the house, she murmured to the puppy in her arms, her eyes full of anticipation.

However, as they walked out of the veterinarian’s office, Su Wanqing’s footsteps suddenly lurched, “I think I’d better go back to the cottage first.”

She didn’t want to be that extra presence, and that sensitivity and self-awareness made her choose to avoid it.

Qi Zhiyu’s gaze pierced through her disguise and spoke steadily, “Aren’t you going to meet?”

“People are here for you, not for me.”

She stubbornly stood still, not advancing half a step, and her tone was characterized by a resolute determination that could not be changed.

“But I want you with me.”

Qi Zhi Iu looked at her steadily, his eyes honest, the depths of his dark pupils flickering with unprecedented clarity, as if he wanted to see through all her disguises.

Su Wanqing was momentarily speechless, an inexplicable emotion rose in her heart, was it the embarrassment of being seen through, or was it a hint of an unknown touch?

She pursed her lips, a hint of bitterness welling up in her throat, “Do we have to go?”

Qi Zhiyu’s reply was short but firm, “Uh-huh.”

He stared at her without looking away, deep meaning in his eyes, “Together then.”

Since you can’t say no, face it bravely.
