Chapter 0049 – Unexpected Surprise (2 / 2)
by Jessie@AFNCCShe snapped out of her thoughts and followed the puppy’s line of sight to Qi Zhi Iu, only to see the coldness in his eyes that had inadvertently flowed out like thin ice suddenly condensing on the surface of a lake, making everything around her seem abnormally cold.
“You ……”
Su Wanqing wanted to speak but stopped, an unknown uneasiness surged in her heart, could it be that she had said something wrong?
The air in the carriage seemed to freeze at this moment, and silence became the heaviest language between the two.
Until the car slowly pulled into the gates of a private estate, breaking the oppressive silence.
“What is this place?”
Su Wanqing retracted her gaze from the window and asked in disbelief, wondering in her heart why they didn’t head to the reserved hotel.
“You’ve got a dog and you want to go to a hotel?”
Qi Zhi Iu’s eyes fell on the puppy in her arms, and his words were tinged with a bit of sarcasm, “Ready to deal with its ‘surprise’ in the hotel at all times?”
Su Wanqing was dumbfounded, a wave of helplessness rose in her heart, thinking: can’t you communicate normally?
She turned her attention to the window, trying to find some fun to ease the awkwardness.
But just then, a deer’s head suddenly poked through the car window, frightening her so much that she almost screamed and instinctively reached to close the window, but was so concerned about the beautiful creature outside that she was afraid that her movement might hurt it.
“Ow-woof!”
The Pacha in his arms warned of the unexpected visitor, yet the deer seemed unafraid and continued to survey the car curiously.
Luckily, the car just happened to stop.
At that point, a janitor from the estate quickly stepped forward and gently but skillfully guided the deer away from the vehicle, all handled with both speed and propriety.
Qi Zhiyu got out of the car with an expressionless face, and Su Wanqing followed behind him, her heart full of questions.
“Mr. Ki.”
The estate’s receptionist greeted them politely and led them toward a small, detached house.
“Young Master Gu has explained that if the two of you find any inconvenience here, you can change rooms at any time.”
Su Wanqing watched the receptionist leave and turned her head to ask Qi Zhiyu, “Is this the Gu family’s manor?”
There was mild surprise in his tone.
“Uh-huh.”
Qi Zhiyu responded succinctly, then looked at the puppy in her arms, “Let it stay on the first floor, there is a yard there for it to move around.”
As soon as his words fell, a servant greeted them and addressed them politely, “Mr. Qi, Mrs. Qi.”
“Mrs. Ki?”
This title caused Su Wanqing’s cheeks to be colored with an imperceptible blush, and a subtle feeling rose in her heart, both shyness and delight.
She laughed softly and handed the puppy in her arms to the servant, instructing softly, “It would be best to prepare a cage for it, there are many small animals in the manor, and I’m afraid that if it wanders off, it might get hurt or scare the other animals.”
“It’s ready.”
The servant took the puppy and responded gently, then turned away, leaving them with a busy, professional back.
Su Wanqing was a little surprised at the efficiency here, not expecting that even such details have been arranged properly by Qi Zhi Iu beforehand, the thoroughness and efficiency of this work, so that she couldn’t help but have a trace of admiration in her heart.
