Chapter 0042 – You Should Learn to Obey (2 / 2)
by Jessie@AFNCCAs she passed the mess, she smoothly pulled out a couple of paper towels and bent down to carefully gather up the ceramic shards on the floor with gentle and delicate movements.
“Do you need me to connect you with a doctor for the cut on your foot?”
She asked lightly, seeming to empathize with his daytime booze hangovers and his accidental nighttime injuries.
If the old doctor were compelled to make the journey again, these two trifles would doubtless fly as quickly as if they had grown wings into the keen ears of the old man.
And just as this subtle consideration lingered in her mind, a sharp, knife-like gaze quietly cut across her periphery with an unspeakable chill.
The corner of his lips hooked into a cold smile, his voice was laced with an undisguised sneer as he questioned, “Do you think that you can get away with using the old man to suppress me?”
“Well, it does so.”
Su Wanqing did not evade, responding with a rare frankness, a flash of determination under her eyes, “After all, the body is your own, you may be able to ignore its wailing, but others, even the closest relatives, can’t bear that torment hidden in your muscles and bones for you, can they?”
“Su Wanqing, your pretense of sanity here is laughable!”
His gaze locked on her again, those eyes deep and cold, the boredom that churned in them pouring out unreservedly.
Pretending to be sensible?
These three words were like a huge stone, weighing heavily on her heart, making breathing difficult.
But even so, the smile on her face still maintained that just the right amount of gentleness and composure, ”So, tell me, in the face of this embarrassing situation today, if I don’t try my best to show reason, what can I do? Should I be like you, lashing out and hissing and snarling at the servants in my home simply because I am upset about a bowl of ripped noodles? Or should we imitate each other and escalate this dissatisfaction into a deafening brawl that will ultimately leave everything in the house in shreds under the weight of our anger?”
If it was possible, why would she not want to vent her heart’s irritation and unhappiness without fear?
However, the shackles of reality bound her tightly, not allowing the slightest indulgence.
It wasn’t all out of rational consideration, but more because deep down, she hid an unspeakable vulnerability.
Qi Zhi Iu’s eyes were as cold as ice, every word seemed like a sharp sword sheathed, “What makes you think that you can’t do this?”
“Because the scales between us were never balanced to begin with.”
Su Wanqing’s words were calm and proud, her eyes flashed with an undeniable light, “Remember that day, on the top floor of the YG Mansion, the moment you used Brother Banquet Boat as a threat, our relationship was doomed to never be equal!”
Since even the most basic equality in this world had become a luxury, how could she stand firm and wreak havoc on him, venting emotions that had no place to rest?
“Hmph, if you hadn’t reminded me, I almost forgot. Now that you are my vassal, my will is your law, and you should learn to obey, shouldn’t you?”
His narrow eyes narrowed slightly, and when he gazed at her again, an imperceptible haze crossed the bottom of his eyes like a dark current.
“Does the fact that even a mediocre bowl of noodles can’t be handled well mean that there should be some punishment?”
The word “punishment” was like cold ice thrown to the ground, permeated with a majesty that could not be ignored.
Punishment?
