Chapter 0039 – Have you seen enough? (2 / 2)
by Jessie@AFNCCImmediately afterward, he asked, “Where are the painkillers the doctor prescribed?”
“Doctor’s orders are to wait to take it until you’ve sobered up.”
Su Wanqing’s action of striking the keyboard gave a start, raising her eyes to look at him, “You’re sober?”
“Headache may heal itself after sobriety ……”
Qi Zhiyu’s brow was furrowed, and it was obvious that the torment of the headache was making his complexion look heavier and heavier.
“Give me the medicine.”
He braced one hand on the back of the chair and reached toward her with the other in a determined manner.
“The medicine is on the nightstand in the bedroom, not with me.”
She replied, then thoughtfully suggested, “If the pain is really bad, you might want to take half a serving to try it first.”
Although this is against medical advice, in special circumstances such a practice at least reduces the risk of a drug reacting with residual alcohol.
“Someone get my medicine for me.”
Qi Zhiyu pressed his forehead and slowly turned around, sitting back on top of the couch.
With less interference from her side, Su Wanqing instantly entered a state of efficient work.
When Uncle Sheng brought the medicine over, she supervised him to reduce the dosage and take it, and then once again devoted herself to her work.
By the time she had finished all her business and looked up, the setting sun outside the window had slowly sunk below the horizon.
For his part, Qi Zhiyu was covered with a thin blanket and drifted off to sleep on the couch.
She gathered up her computer and walked over to him, gently pulling the thin blanket that had slipped most of the way back over him.
As she turned around, she inadvertently kicked the organizer underneath the coffee table, and a few old magazines slid to the floor in the process.
Just as she was about to organize it, an unlabeled CD fell out of the box with a pop.
Just as she was about to restore it, her wrist was suddenly held firmly by a force.
“What are you rummaging for?”
Qi Zhi Iu’s voice was low, and his dark eyes revealed a hint of probing, causing her heart to flutter uncontrollably.
However, her face remained calm, “I just accidentally kicked it, never meant to pry.”
When she finished, she carefully set the organizer back into place.
“If you still feel sleepy, it might be more appropriate to go to your room and sleep.”
With those words, she tried to draw back the hand she was holding.
Just as this was about to come off, he yanked hard, pulling her whole body down beside him.
“You promised to stay with me today.”
Not allowing her to resist, he wrapped his arms tightly around her.
Su Wanqing’s heart immediately gave birth to a few points of helplessness, as if several black lines surfaced on her forehead, “Have I not always been by your side? I haven’t even stepped out of this door, and my work has moved here, is this still not companionship?”
“This is what you call a home office.”
Qi Zhiyu’s hand around her waist tightened more and more, but his tone was extraordinarily calm.
In the face of such logic, Su Wanqing was actually speechless.
The silence between the two lasted for a few moments, and eventually he spoke up to break it, “Are you done with your work?”
“Well, it’s all taken care of.”
She answered simply and dryly, but she couldn’t hide the relief she felt inside.
Su Wanqing gently adjusted her sitting position, carefully searching for the most comfortable corner in the soft sofa in an attempt to dispel the faint discomfort that had been fostered by sitting still for a long period of time.
“Gurgle-” A small but mischievous belly chirp sounded from behind her, like a tiny stone dropped in a silent space, sending ripples in a circle.
The sound broke the quiet of the room, revealing a touch of unspeakable warmth and life.
