    Chapter Index

He did loosen his grip, but then switched to encircling her waist with just the right amount of strength to not break free.

“Isn’t it obvious enough what Grandpa means when he sends a special delivery of medicine?”

During the day, the old man’s words at the gazebo were still ringing in my ears, and every word was loud and clear.

Su Wanqing looked at him with a firm gaze, and said earnestly word by word, “Qi Zhiyu, raising a child to grow up, relying on material things alone is not enough.”

“The old man wants a good time, so let’s just let him be happy.”

His words were careless, but in the next moment he tightened his arms around her.

“So tell me, what else do you need to raise a child besides money?”

He stared down, as if fire was burning in his eyes.

“Kizhi Iu, do you really not understand?”

Her eyes gradually rippled from calm, and a scene from the past rolled over in her mind.

Memory, Qi Wenfeng married his first wife purely for business marriage, no half of the emotion to speak of.

Qi Zhi Iu grew up in a strict and detached environment, as did his birth mother.

All of this created a paranoid personality in contrast to her austere one.

Qi Zhiyu, however, lazily said, “I’d rather hear you say it yourself.”

“A husband and wife must have love for each other, and children raised with love are truly happy!”

She aggravated her tone, for only love can mold a sound personality.

“And we, obviously, can’t give our kids that kind of environment.”

She paused, her gaze revealing a touch of helplessness.

Not to mention the fact that there is no emotional foundation between the two, they are both crippled as far as character and psychological levels are concerned.

“Why not? How can you not love your own child?”

Qi Zhiyu’s eyes suddenly became dark, and the tip of his tongue gently rubbed his cheek as if he was suppressing some kind of emotion.

“My child, I will naturally love.”

There was an undeniable firmness in his words.

“That is enough. Since you will love him, what fear of procreation?”

Qi Zhi Iu’s face softened, his eyes flickered with warmth, “Grandfather will love him, he is my flesh and blood, and I will surely love him as well.”

His flesh and blood, will he also love? Su Wanqing was silent for a moment and lightly shook her head, a few more points of heaviness in her expression.

“I don’t deny that you will love your children.”

Just how deep and long will that love last? That became the unanswered question.

“And what exactly are you afraid of?”

Qi Zhi Iu’s voice was flat, no fluctuation of emotions could be heard.

Su Wanqing swallowed the sourness in her heart. She was afraid that in the days to come, he might have more than one child; even more so, she was afraid of sacrificing her own flesh and blood for what he recognized as his favorite.

After a moment of silence, she finally spoke up and offered a shocker, “Do you think, your father loved you?”

Qi Zhi Iu’s face flinched, her thin lips trembled minutely, and she could clearly feel the arm wrapped around her grow tighter from the vibrations within her.
