Chapter 0012 – You’re My Man (2 / 2)
by Jessie@AFNCCThey greeted respectfully, but the air naturally coalesced with a sense of majesty due to Father Qi’s arrival.
“Uh-huh.”
He responded simply, his gaze unintentionally sweeping over the two’s clasped hands before landing on Qi Zhiyu, “After dinner, come to my study.”
“Understood.”
Qi Zhiyu’s reply was short and strong, Su Wanqing could feel the strength of the hand holding her slightly increase, she frowned slightly and quickly adjusted her emotions when she met the jealous gaze cast by Qi Jiajia.
Qi Jia Yi maintained his usual gentle smile, “Second brother, second sibling.”
With those words, he crossed over to the two men and walked alongside his father.
“How about a different route?”
Su Wanqing suggested in a low voice, trying to avoid unnecessary trouble.
“So scared?”
Qi Zhiyu looked down at her, a bit of dissatisfaction in his tone.
She met his slightly cold eyes calmly, “I just want to enjoy a quiet dinner.”
She trailed off, her heart longing for a piece of peace.
“Grandpa’s in a good mood today, don’t ruin it.”
Qi Zhi Iu reminded, and before the words left his mouth, the crisp rattling of his joints rang out abruptly, a silent expression of his dissatisfaction.
“Aunt Qin knows how to grasp Qidong’s heart, and lovingly, he is closer to her children than he is to you. If you can’t manage your emotions, it’s the same as ceding control to the three of them, mother and child.”
Su Wanqing endured the pain and analyzed it calmly, her tone revealing her worries about the big picture.
“I’m sure this isn’t the ending Grandpa Ki would have wanted to see.”
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been placed at his side as that crucial pawn.
These words seemed to have touched Qi Zhiyu, his eyes glazed over and he said sternly, “You do always keep your mission in mind!”
“When a promise is made to exit, it must be honored; it is the cornerstone of one’s character.”
Su Wanqing’s reply was still bland, and her words were loud and clear.
“A good cornerstone of character ……” Qi Zhi Iu chewed on her words, the smile at the corner of his mouth deepened, then he violently pulled her into his arms, with a domineering and carelessness in his posture that could not be ignored, “Since you have promised to become my companion, then I hope that you will also be able to …… match your words with your actions!”
Su Wanqing’s eyes flickered, and the lake of her heart was gently stirred by some unnamable emotion.
“I would never go back on my word.”
Her words were firm, like starlight in a cold night, flickering weakly but persistently.
“That would be best.”
The corners of his lips curved into a satisfied arc, as if a spring breeze had brushed the surface of a lake, with unquestionable firmness hidden in its gentleness.
When he finished speaking, he gently wrapped his arm around her waist with just the right amount of strength, neither too close nor too intimate, and turned around with an undeniable determination in his stride to continue their journey.
“Next time, don’t bother with Kijayi.”
His words were soft, but carried a non-negotiable meaning. When she heard this, a trace of confusion flashed through her eyes, her eyebrows knitted slightly, as if she did not understand the deeper meaning.
“Why?”
She pressed on, her voice laced with the slightest hint of disbelief and curiosity, as if it were raindrops in early spring, clear and slightly cool.
“Because you’re my man and have to be on the same side as me!”
He smiled lightly, his tone revealing a few moments of leisure, but that unintentional determination was like the undercurrent lurking under the gentle sea water, making it impossible to ignore.
