Chapter 0011 – Chess Game (2 / 2)
by Jessie@AFNCCSu Wanqing listened quietly, realizing for the first time that this pair of grandparents and grandchildren really had a knack for acting.
At that moment, the sound of a cell phone vibrating interrupted the delicate atmosphere, and Qi Zhi Iu took an excuse to leave, leaving a room of awkwardness and unfinished business.
“Buzz–“
Taking advantage of Qi Zhiyu’s departure from the table, Elder Qi tried to ease the atmosphere, “Grandson-in-law, would you like to play a game of chess?”
Looking at the rearranged chessboard in front of her, Su Wanqing gently nodded her head, deciding to temporarily put down the disturbances in her heart and enjoy a moment of tranquility.
However, the hidden ripples in the game of chess are quietly unfolding ……
Five minutes later, Elder Gu gazed at the chessboard, his brows locked, and several times he wanted to speak. His gaze hovered between Su Wanqing and Elder Qi, seemingly with deep meaning.
Elder Qi, on the other hand, smiled as he watched the battle, with the leisure of sitting on a mountain and watching the tigers fight.
“This step.”
Suddenly, a bony hand gently dropped the pieces, easily cracking Su Wanqing’s carefully arranged chess game.
Immediately afterward, a voice with laughter came out, “Grandpa, aren’t you afraid of losing too badly if you let Grandpa Gu be your opponent? After all, even you have trouble wielding Wanqing’s chess skills.”
Elder Qi raised an eyebrow, slightly chastising the man for his snark, “You’re the one who talks too much!”
When Gu Lao heard this, not only did he not get annoyed, but his eyes lit up and he turned to ask Su Wanqing, “Young lady is also proficient in chess?”
What was even more surprising was that the chess skill that even Elder Qi had trouble dealing with had appeared in this seemingly ordinary woman.
“It’s just a little bit of skin.”
There was humility in Su Wanqing’s reply.
“Where’s the skinny on you!”
Gu Lao’s gaze was filled with admiration, “Young Lady is too modest.”
Facing the chessboard that had been broken, Su Wanqing smiled faintly and said, “More than playing chess, Young Master Qi’s talents in other areas are equally outstanding.”
Gu Lao once again examined the chessboard, his face overflowing with heartfelt joy, “Haha, it’s really wonderful! The descendants of the old Qi family, the waves of the Yangtze River push forward the waves of the past, one generation is stronger than the next!”
However, his words turned and he spoke quickly, “However, I’m also quite interested in the young lady’s chess, I wonder if she’s self-taught, or if she has some kind of high ranking person to guide her?”
“Not an expert, just a regular guy.”
She spat out the words lightly, but a sly glint flashed in her eyes.
Her chess skill, in fact, originated from those quiet afternoons she spent with Li Yanzhou, every move and every style was patiently taught by him.
And his level of play is such that even the grandmasters of the chess world have to marvel and praise him as a rare chess wizard.
Her eyes gently skimmed over the chess game that had been skillfully solved, and in the afterglow, the black and white world of the game looked particularly intriguing.
Without realizing it, the remaining light from the corner of her eye caught Qi Zhi Iu, who had been sitting silently on the side for an unknown period of time, and that deep gaze seemed to be scrutinizing this delicate game of chess as well.
“Grandpa Gu, are we still going on?”
He held the walnuts in his hands and carefully peeled them one by one, his voice was mixed with a few moments of carelessness, but there was also an imperceptible concern. The sound of the walnut shells cracking was particularly clear in the quiet air.
“Of course!”
Elder Gu did not hesitate, his tone as firm as a mountain, as if this was not just a game of chess, but also a challenge and respect for wisdom.
“Young Lady, please continue!”
Once the stalemate is broken, it would undoubtedly be a waste for such an exciting duel not to continue!
