    Episode 80

They were a huge number of riders.

At the sight of them the expressions of Edward and the other participants turned pale.

    “What is that?”

There were also the insignia of the powerful families of the central region such as the House of Agamemnon who wore the insignia of the Golden Mask and the House of Graham who could be said to be the real owners of Panstars.

    Purrrrr!

Not just one family but a dozen or so influential families stood behind Zig and his party.

Edward who was standing in front of Zeke was flustered and couldn’t continue speaking.

    ‘That’s ridiculous.’

Although the Drake Martial Arts Tournament is said to be a microcosm of the continent where one can gauge the power of each family it was unprecedented for so many riders to gather at once.

The heads of each clan stood before Zig and bowed their heads respectfully.

“By order of Sir Zeke Draker heir to Agamemnon House Acilius we have responded to the call!”

“By order of Sieg Drake successor to Agamemnon the House of Hector has responded to the call!”

“By order of Sieg Drake successor to Agamemnon House Aegis has responded to the summons!”

Following this other families also reported their call to Zeke.

Finally the Graham family’s standard-bearer stood before Zeke clad in gold-plated armor.

“The Duke of Graham has given orders to escort Sir Zeke Draker the benefactor and eternal friend of the Graham family during the martial arts tournament.”

He held something out to Zeke.

“Lady Angelina the youngest of the Grahams asks that you deliver this handkerchief to Sir Zeke containing his wishes for victory.”

When the name Angelina Graham came up there was a stir in the area.

Angelina Graham who recently appeared on the social scene is already considered one of the continent’s most beautiful women.

When Zeke received a handkerchief from Angelina Graham who had little contact with the outside world he was the object of envy and jealousy from the other young knights.

Zeke received the handkerchief given by the Commander of the Knights of the Graham family put it in his bosom and bowed his head in thanks.

“Please convey my thanks to His Majesty the Duke and my assurance that I will bring victory to Lady Angelina.”

The number of riders behind Zeke alone was enough to overwhelm an entire knightly force.

Edward retreated to his riders in a cold sweat.

He looked at Zeke and ground his teeth.

‘Zeke Draker. No matter what you are just an attendant on my debut stage.’

    That was when.

A dozen or so figures appeared in front of the gathering place where the participants were gathered waving Drake’s insignia.

Someone rode forward among those dressed in Draker’s livery.

His appearance caused silence to fall all around him.

A middle-aged man whose face is covered with large and small scars.

Zeke looked at the man on the horse.

    ‘The Scarred Knight. Gareth Draker.’

Gareth was one of the Draker’s Guardian Knights and a mid-level knight who led the Black Wolf Order one of the three major knight orders of Draker.

I remembered his face because he had been active on the front lines during the Third Continental War in his previous life.

However after Draker was fully incorporated into the Empire Gareth broke his sword and went into hiding to preserve his pride as a knight.

He was a man of such integrity and pride as a knight.

Gareth said looking at the gathered people.

“The preliminary round of the Draker Martial Arts Tournament will now begin. Each participant please come forward with one weapon of your choice.”

At Gareth’s words the participants in the martial arts tournament stepped forward with spears they had prepared in advance.

Felix standing behind Zeke looked at the spears carried by the surrounding participants.

It was difficult to tell the exact shape because most of it was covered with cloth but it was clear that it was a throwing spear because of its long shaft.

Felix nodded and whispered to Zeke.

“Master. As you expected it seems like it has been modified for spear throwing.”

Then Zeke handed Felix something heavy.

    Felix tilted his head.

    “What is this Master?”

“This is the weapon you will be carrying.”

    “Yes? Where should I participate?”

Zig nodded toward the inner court where the preliminary rounds would be held.

Felix shook his head at those words.

“Hey I didn’t even apply for the martial arts competition what are you talking about….”

At the same time Zeke took out an application form with Felix’s name on it.

    “omg?”

Felix who had followed along as if he were just going on a picnic realized that he was a participant only after arriving at the site.

Zeke and Liam grabbed Felix who was trying to run away and dragged him inside.

The riders waited outside the stage while the contestants stood in a line and prepared for the preliminary round.

Then there was a loud noise from behind the stage.

    Kookookookookook!

A giant target resembling a siege weapon was placed in the center of the stage.

The contestants tilted their heads as they looked at the target made of several layers of thick iron plates.

‘Did you install that on the other side of the mountain?’

    Then Gareth said.

“The qualifying event is a hard thrust. The more times you can penetrate the plate the higher your score.”

Most of the participants looked surprised and dumbfounded at those words.

I clearly knew it was going to be a spear throw but the preliminary event suddenly changed.

    “That’s ridiculous!”

“Shout hard! I can’t even apply enough force with this spear!”

The contestants brought with them lighter longer spears modified to allow them to fly farther.

Edward and other participants related to Siemens laughed at this.

This is because they knew the preliminary round events in advance and were able to prepare their windows accordingly.

‘You’re all just my followers anyway.’

Edward whistled and took out the spear he had prepared in advance.

It was a modified spear with a strong blade and a heavy iron shaft to allow for maximum force.

Edward expected his victory to be a landslide.

    That was when.

    “What is that?”

The other participants burst out in surprise when they saw Zig’s group.

Like Edward he brought a spear with a heavy shaft and a strong blade.

What he had asked Catherine for was nothing less than to prepare a spear for thrusting rather than for throwing.

Felix took the heavy spear and asked Zeke.

“Master Ma. Do you know the preliminary round events?”

Zeke shook his head at his question.

“I just didn’t think the Siemens guys would give us the preliminary round events that easily.”

There Zeke had encountered Edward Siemens in his past life.

Edward with his sadistic nature preferred to kill his enemies by swinging his spear rather than throwing javelins.

I didn’t think Edward would choose javelin throwing as a qualifying event.

He naturally ignored Edward’s gaze that was glaring at him.

    Gareth raised his hand.

“Bring your weapons and come out as I call your name!”

Participants who had prepared spears for throwing had no choice but to stand in front of the target holding the spears they had brought in advance crying and eating mustard.

Since the qualifications for participation were Purple Knight or higher everyone was able to load Aura onto their weapons.

However simply wrapping an aura around a weapon did not make it able to pierce through plate steel.

    puck!

When the aura was excessively applied to increase the strength the spearhead broke and the strength could not be transmitted to the target.

Contestants who had only practiced throwing far could not even scratch the solid iron target.

    “Whoop!”

    Pachin!

It was a decent achievement for a participant with decent aura control to barely penetrate a single sheet of iron.

After a while it was Reyna Draker’s turn.

The spear that Reina had prepared in advance was a regular spear.

This is because the Turn family was not a place that originally distinguished between throwing and thrusting spears.

Reina stood in front of the target holding a spear.

    Then he raised his aura.

    Wooooow!

A clear creaking sound echoed from the window.

She pushed her front paws hard and thrust out the window.

    Kkwaddudduk!

The aura-coated spear pierced four thick sheets of iron.

    “Hmm….”

It was the best result so far but Reina looked as if she was dissatisfied with something.

    Next it was Felix’s turn.

    “Hoooo.”

Felix standing in front of the target held the spear with a serious attitude.

Felix who mainly trained in traditional swordsmanship also received advanced spearmanship from his grandfather.

Felix put his entire weight on the spear and struck the target deeply.

    Kkwadduk!

The spear carrying the auror pierced three and a half layers of iron plate.

    “Ugh.”

Felix returned to his slumped posture and slumped down next to Zeke seemingly exhausted.

Liam’s turn came soon after and he stood in front of the target with his spear in hand.

He went through three chapters just a little less than Felix.

Liam saw that he had lost to Felix let alone Rayna and he vowed to himself to improve himself more.

    The next contestant stood up.

    “It’s finally my turn.”

Edward Siemens who had been looking at others with an arrogant attitude stood in front of the target with a spear in his hand.

“Hmm. It’s just a piece of iron plate.”

He grabbed the spear and pulled up the aura.

    Wooooow!

The aura on the window became so thick that it was visible to the eye.

It was evidence that he was on the verge of being promoted to Blue Knight.

    “Haaaah!”

With a tremendous roar Edward stabbed the iron plate with his spear.

    Kkwuddudduk!

With a loud noise Edward’s spear pierced through six plates.

He put the window away and his haughty expression returned.

“I’m not feeling too well. If it were normal I would have pierced all ten chapters.”

Edward glanced at Zeke chuckled and returned to his original position.

Zeke didn’t pay much attention to Edward.

Rather it was the other participants that he cared about.

    ‘Ellen Sabrina.’

As Zeke came to the stadium and looked over the participants he noticed that one participant in particular stood out.

It was a young knight with her face covered by a hood and cloak.

‘Just looking at his breathing and the momentum he exudes he is definitely not an ordinary knight.’

A knight with that level of skill would have probably heard the name at least once but it was the first time I was seeing it.

‘Could it be that you entered this competition under an alias?’

    “Zeke Draker.”

    Finally it was Zeke’s turn.

Zeke took his gaze away from the knight named Elin and stood up.

Then he took out the spear he had prepared in advance.

    But something was strange.

    “There’s no blade?”

There was literally only a window.

Zeke placed his sword Bahamut on the prepared spear.

    Crunch!

There was no problem with mounting it since it was specially ordered to be mounted on Bahamut.

Edward sneered at the spear Zeke was holding.

“Kekekeke. I wonder if you can lift that window properly.”

To begin with Bahamut was a claymore so it was larger and heavier than a normal sword.

By attaching a spear to such a Bahamut it became a long spear that was difficult to even lift properly.

As Zeke stood in front of the line the examiner asked.

“Are you sure you want to do it through that window?”

Zeke nodded and took his stance toward the iron plate.

Then he gathered his strength and took the form of the Dragon Slayer.

    Woohoo!

    Dragon’s Sword Technique

    Chapter 8 Section 3

    Yonglin stabbing

    Kwakwakwakwa!

With a tremendous noise Zeke’s spear pierced through the iron plate.

It was surprising that such a powerful thrust could be delivered with such a heavy and long spear.

Even Zeke wasn’t using his Aura Blade.

The examiner counted the number of plates Zeke’s spear had penetrated.

“All ten of them have penetrated!”

Despite the unfavorable conditions they managed to break through all the iron plates.

Edward looked incredulous and Reina glared at Zeke with fierce eyes.

Zeke shrugged and returned to his seat with Bahamut.

The match officials removed all the perforated plates and replaced them with new ones.

Then Elin Sabrina whom Zeke had been concerned about stepped forward. It was her turn.

But there was no spear in her hand.

    The examiner asked Ellen.

    “Where is the window?”

Then Elin pulled out the sword from under her cloak.

The judge looked at Elin and said.

“Are you going to stab me with a sword?”

It’s not that it can’t be done but it’s true that it’s disadvantageous compared to using a window.

Because it was generally a weapon intended for cutting not stabbing.

But suddenly Elin started walking behind the target instead of in front of it.

The examiner was embarrassed and called Elin over.

“Ellen Sabrina! Are you giving up the game?”

At that moment Elin turned around and threw the sword she was holding towards the target.

    Kkwaddudduk!

The sword pierced through the iron plate and was buried deep inside.

The examiner looked at the plates in surprise and shouted.

    “It penetrated eight chapters.”

If it had been a spear instead of a sword it would have been possible to pass through ten chapters like Zigg.

Elin turned her head to look at Zeke and took off her hood.

Zeke was startled when he saw her face.

It was a face he knew.

    ‘Helen Draker.’

He was the fourth direct blood relative of Draker.
