A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 79
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 79
Zeke and his party returned to Atlas by train from Panstars where the Graham family was located.
Lady Catherine decided to meet with the nobles of the central region and gather more information about the tournament before rejoining Atlas.
“Pharrell got off at the central station and looked around Atlas” he said.
“It’s been a long time since I graduated from Valhalla.”
“So Sir Farel is also from Valhalla.”
“Yes. It is rare for nobles in the middle class to go to Valhalla but I really wanted to join because I admired Monsieur Flaubert.”
Flaubert was from Thebes a city in the center of the central region and was a knight respected by the central aristocracy so it was understandable.
Zeke and his party headed to Atlas’ mansion.
When he got there a welcoming face was waiting for him.
“My lord!”
It was Liam Stone who was about to graduate from the academy.
“Liam. Long time no see.”
Liam had grown larger and his face was much more haggard than when I last saw him.
From a distance he looked similar to Farrell who was in his thirties.
Zeke told Farrell and Felix to rest and went out into the garden with Liam.
“So how have you been Liam?”
“Thanks to you my lord I was able to successfully complete the academy graduation exam.”
“I heard you were promoted to Purple Knight before graduation. That’s great.”
Liam graduated from the Academy this year after being recognized as a Purple Knight along with Reyna the only pureblood Awakened in the same class.
Zeke asked Liam.
“I heard that you were recommended to enter Valhalla with Reina but you declined. Why did you do that?”
Then Liam beat his chest and said
“I want to be of help to my lord as soon as possible.”
Zeke listened to Liam’s words and thought about them carefully.
‘In his previous life Liam didn’t go to Valhalla but rather rolled around in actual combat and became a red knight. If he gains experience by my side will he grow faster?’

Zeke who had been worrying felt slightly burdened as he looked into Liam’s burning eyes.
‘I guess it wouldn’t be a bad thing if one more seed was added.’
Zeke accepted Liam’s opinion.
“Thank you my lord!”
He asked about his other cousins’ recent activities while drinking tea.
“Leon Conrad ended up taking an indefinite leave of absence from the Academy Owen Siemens skipped a grade but failed this year’s graduation exam Reyna Draker is graduating this year and will enter Valhalla and Jaken Waldeck is acting as the king of his peers after failing to skip a grade.”
Zeke nodded after hearing Liam’s words.
“It looks like Leon has finally given in.”
Leon who had been bullying Liam suffered the humiliation of having his ear cut off by Zeke.
Leon who had always lived as a perpetrator could not accept that he was a victim.
In the end he was unable to overcome the shock he received from Zeke and chose to take an indefinite leave of absence.
“I think it’s your own fault.”
Zeke who had been treated by Leon Conrad in his past life also agreed with Liam’s thoughts.
At that moment Decker approached the garden.
“Your Majesty I have brought what you asked for.”
“Thanks Decker. Leave it here.”
Decker followed Zeke’s gesture and placed a fairly large box in front of Liam.
Zeke said looking at Liam.
“Liam this is your promotion gift.”
Liam was taken aback by those words.
“A gift from the west? What I have already received is sufficient my lord.”
“Stop complaining and just take it.”
Liam opened the box with trembling hands.
And I was surprised.
“My lord what is this?”
Inside the box was Liam’s new sword and light armor set specially ordered from Gelion.
Zeke said with a smirk.
“I hope it fits well.”
Liam was so touched he couldn’t speak properly.
He took out the gauntlets boot armor and other items from the box and attached them to his body.
“It fits perfectly as if it was tailored to my body!”
It was a special order from Gelion referencing the armor Liam used when he was the mercenary king in his previous life so it was only natural that Liam liked it.
Liam slowly pulled his sword out of its scabbard one last time.
Jeeeeing!
It was a sword that was carefully forged by Gelion the craftsman of souls.
Liam was so captivated by the sword that he stared into his own eyes reflected in it for a while in silence.
“Do you like it Liam?”

Liam suddenly came to his senses and immediately knelt down in front of Zeke.
“I thank you for your kindness. I will work hard so as not to tarnish your reputation.”
Zeke snickered at Liam’s slightly tearful appearance and said.
“Don’t expect it.”
Thinking that the reunion was somewhat concluded Zeke immediately called Felix and sorted out the order of things between the two.
“Liam is the first one to pledge allegiance to me. And Felix is my squire. Felix you treat Liam as your senior.”
Felix asked in surprise at those words.
“Yes? Master why am I below you?”
Zeke said looking at Felix.
“Are you dissatisfied?”
“Oh no. I was just asking.”
Zeke looked at Felix and smirked.
“Okay Felix. Give me a chance.”
“What kind of opportunity are you talking about?”
“If you can beat Liam I’ll change the order of the rankings.”
Felix said with the aforementioned expression.
“Is that true Master? It’s not like there’s anything wrong with it.”
That decided the duel between the two. After a while Felix and Liam stood facing each other.
Although his face had faded Felix thought he could beat the seventeen-year-old Aesong who had just graduated from the academy.
He took up his sword and took up his stance.
At the same time Liam also took a stance.
But something was strange.
‘A fresh graduate…?’
Woohoo!
A clear sword sound rang out from Liam’s sword.
Whee!
A powerful sword strike from Liam’s signature long reach struck Felix.
“Eww!”
Felix barely managed to block Liam’s sword and keep his balance.
He changed his mind.
‘What the hell is that!’
There was no pride or anything.
Felix immediately used the Paladin tradition sword technique.
Whee!
Liam stepped back from Felix’s heavy extended attack and found an opening with an irregular attack.
Zeke laughed in amusement as he watched the contrasting swordsmanship of the two people.
‘It’s ironic that Felix who looks light uses classic traditional swordsmanship while Liam who looks heavy uses unconventional swordsmanship.’
As he expected the two people’s skills were almost equal.
However since their swordsmanship styles were completely different I thought they would be a good stimulus for each other.
“profit!”
Felix was good at performing formal swordsmanship such as the Paladin-style swordsmanship or the Agamemnon-style swordsmanship while making frivolous sounds.
Liam who had found his light-hearted attitude a bit amusing was also secretly surprised.
‘The sword is strong.’
That meant that the fundamentals were strong.
Felix had been trained by his grandfather an Arch Paladin since childhood and had even received the Auror tradition so his basic skills were bound to be solid.
Pachin!
As the number of moves passed a few hundred it was obvious that both of them were losing stamina.
“Phew. Phew.”
“Heh. Heh.”
The situation was such that everything was at rock bottom.
The two men took up their swords and threw themselves into a final showdown.
WHEEK!
That was when.
Liam who was quickly running towards Felix seemed to strike his sword but then dropped it and ran into his arms.
“Huh!”
Felix who trained mainly in traditional swordsmanship had never even thought about putting down his sword during a duel.
Liam grabbed Felix’s leg and used the Pankration technique to knock him down.
Then he grabbed Felix by the back and strangled him.
“Kekeke!”
Felix who had never practiced the pankration technique struggled with the tightening technique that compressed the carotid artery.
Zeke shouted as he saw the sight.
“stop!”
At Zeke’s command Liam immediately released the choke.
“Coolook! Coolook!”
Felix barely came to his senses coughing violently.
Zeke said as he looked at Felix like that.
“Felix you lost.”
“Ugh.”
Felix exhausted stretched out on the garden bench.
Zeke was confident that Liam and Felix could fill each other’s shortcomings.
Then Farrell approached Zeke.
“Sir Zeke!”
“Sir Farrell. What is it?”
Farrell handed a note to Zeke.
“What is this?”
“This is news from a friend in Atlas.”
Zeke unfolded the note that Farrell had handed him and read it.
He nodded.
“Rayna Draker is also participating in the martial arts tournament.”
“Anyone above the rank of Purple Knight can participate so it seems that the Turun family hastily applied for Reyna Draker’s participation.”
Zeke said looking at Liam who was standing behind him.
“I heard Liam. Rayna is entering the fighting tournament.”
He said to Liam.
“Liam you too will enter the tournament. Your goal should be to beat Reyna.”
Farrell was startled by those words.
“Sir Zeke! Rayna Draker is a pureblood Awoken from House Turn. Despite her young age she is one of the strongest contenders for the championship…”
Zeke said to Liam with a smirk.
“I heard you Liam. Try harder.”
Liam bowed his head to Zeke his eyes filled with determination.
“Understood my lord!”
Felix and Pharrell were speechless as they looked at Liam like that.
‘As expected Sir Zeke. You think differently from the criminal.’
‘Why did I become this gentleman’s son? I wish I could turn back time.’
* * *
Doo doo doo doo!
It was the day of the preliminary rounds for the Draker Tournament. The young knights and their followers gathered noisily at the gathering place set up on the outskirts of Atlas.
They each tried to take the initiative by waving bigger and more colorful flags as if they were trying to show off their clan affiliations in some way.
That was when.
Doo doo doo!
There was a group of riders leading enormous steeds.
A badge with a giant bull engraved on it.
“It’s the Two Turns family!”
The most aggressive and physically strong family among the Draker bloodlines.
Among the bannermen of the Turn family the pureblood Awakener known as a genius Reyna Draker arrived at the gathering place riding a huge warhorse.
As she appeared the other clansmen looked at each other and held their breath.
The awe-inspiring presence of the knights of House Thurn with their gigantic physiques reminiscent of barbarians was breathtaking.
Then following the Turn family carriages and riders from other families came in.
It was a banner with two snakes biting each other’s tails.
“It’s Siemens!”
A carriage bearing the Siemens badge stopped and a young man with gray hair and three hundred eyes got out.
He looked around and said.
“Hmm there are a lot of worthless rascals gathered here.”
Although he spoke arrogantly without hesitation the other families’ knights were speechless and stepped back hesitantly upon seeing Edward Siemens like that.
Then Edward spotted Reina and approached her.
“Reina! Long time no see.”
As Edward approached the knights of House Tourne who had been standing behind Reina stood guard.
Then Edward snickered and said.
“Can’t you even say hello? Where the hell are the punks from the Turun family glaring at the Siemens’ direct descendants?”
Reina raised her hand and pushed the knights back.
She bowed her head towards Edward.
“It’s been a while.”
“I worked hard to get here so what can I do? I’m going to take home the championship this time.”
At those words Reina said to Edward.
“Edward you’d better be careful. I heard that guy is participating in this tournament.”
“What? Are you just saying that to me?”
“yes.”
Edward frowned fiercely twitching one cheek.
“Who dares to stop me here? You Reina who just became a Purple Knight? With just a pureblood awakening?”
“It’s not me. It’s that guy…”
Doo doo doo doo!
Then several men came into the assembly place on horseback.
They arrived without any family insignia or riders just four people riding horses.
The one in front of them got off his horse.
“Whew. I’m barely late.”
Liam and Felix Farrell then dismounted.
Zeke raised his hand and greeted Reina who was standing opposite Edward.
“It’s been a while Reina.”
Reina’s expression hardened when she saw Zeke for the first time in two years.
Edward seeing Reina’s reaction turned his neck with a cracking sound and approached Zeke.
“Huh. So. This kind of beggar with no support is the one I have to watch out for. Is that it?”
Edward stood in front of Zeke.
“Aesong. I am Edward Siemens.”
Edward said leaning his face in towards Zeke.
“You a worthless piece of trash with no family to back you up don’t deserve to be here. Just quietly get out.”
That was when.
Doo doo doo doo doo!
I heard something approaching from a distance shaking the earth.
