A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 73

Episode 73
‘Your mother was in the healer class?’
Rufus nodded and said as Zeke looked surprised.
“I don’t understand if you say it like this. The very concept of class has disappeared these days.”
Zeke knew what class was through his teacher in his previous life but he pretended not to know for now.
“This is the first time I’ve heard the word ‘class’.”
“You are a pureblood Awakened of Draker so you will remember the blessing you received in the cradle.”
“Of course. Even if you try to forget you can’t forget.”
“In Drakers we call it a blessing ceremony but in reality it’s just a class opening ceremony. Most Drakers open as the ‘inspector’ class.”
Surprisingly Rufus had a good grasp of the class of the Draker bloodline.
“It’s an inspection class. So are there other classes?”
“Of course. In ancient times people were given classes that matched their talents and were organized in a way that allowed them to develop higher abilities. However in today’s age of knights most classes are divided into only knights and magicians.”
“We divide the classes into groups according to talent and open them up. In some ways it’s a very reasonable idea.”
“Yes. Those who are talented with a sword take the path of a swordsman. Those who are talented with a bow take the path of a shooter. Those who are talented with a spear take the path of a spearman. That is the meaning of class.”
Zeke nodded to Rufus’ words.
It still made me shudder to think about how the Drakers a family of inspectors had suffered so much just because they were born with the talent of a healer.
‘Wait a minute if your mother was a healer doesn’t that mean your father knew about it too?’
Zeke asked Rufus.
“If his mother was a healer would Arthur Draker have known about this class as well?”
Rufus nodded.
“I probably knew.”
Those words made Zeke question himself.
‘If you knew that I had talents other than that of an inspector why did you kick me out of the family?’
If her mother had been a healer she would have been fully aware of the healing powers that healers possess so I couldn’t quite understand why she had neglected herself.
Zeke asked Rufus.
“Do you know anything about the healer class?”

Rufus opened his mouth slowly.
“I don’t know the details either. It’s such a rare talent that there’s almost nothing left in the records of her legacy. One thing I know for sure is that my aunt who was my family’s previous owner also had the talent of a healer.”
As Zeke had expected Agamemnon’s previous head of household was a healer class.
Considering that only the previous heads of households with the power of a healer and Zigman were able to activate the Golden Mask it was highly likely that this artifact was an artifact that could only be used by those with the talent of a healer.
“Have there been many cases of healers coming from the Agamemnon family?”
Rufus shook his head.
“It was rare. Most of them were born with great strength like the elders of the Nana family. However the position of the head of the family was held by someone who was born with the talent of a healer.”
“Then my mother could have also become the head of the household.”
“She was qualified enough. But Laura left this castle and went to the Holy Kingdom before she even reached adulthood.”
Zeke was surprised by the unexpected words.
“The Holy Kingdom? Why did you go there?”
“Laura didn’t tell me the details. She just said she was looking for a way to save her family and left. She later said she was going to marry Arthur Draker.”
The more he heard about her the more questions Zeke had about his mother.
Zig looked at the symbol that resembled the insignia of the Holy Kingdom engraved on the forehead of the golden mask and was lost in thought.
‘Perhaps Mother went to the Holy Realm to research the healer class. To purify the demonic energy that was corroding her family with her own power.’
There was only one person who knew the exact truth about this.
None other than his father Arthur Draker.
‘If I ask that person will he really give me an answer?’
In the circumstances the Drakes were essentially neglecting the cursed House of Agamemnon in order to consolidate their own power.
Furthermore Arthur Draker in his previous life knew of Zeke’s true identity and left him alone until he was driven out of the family so in his previous life the Agamemnon family would have been completely eroded by magic and disappeared without a sound.
Zeke realized that things were more complicated than he had thought.
‘There are a lot of things to find out little by little.’
“Zeke I have something I want to give you.”
Then Rufus took off the necklace he was wearing and put it in Zeke’s hand.
Zeke examined the necklace Rufus had given him.
The pendant on the necklace had an open lid and when I opened it I found an old photograph of a woman inside.
Zeek’s eyes wavered as he looked at the woman’s face.
“My lord. This photo is…..”
“Laura Agamemnon. Your mother.”
Zeke had never seen his mother in his past or present life.
The mother in the photo was around the same age as Zeke.
With her long silky hair swept to the side she was a beautiful woman with an elegant yet powerful impression.
Zeke looked at the photo and asked Rufus.
“…Did your mother have black eyes like mine?”
Then Rufus shook his head.
“No. Laura’s eyes were a beautiful emerald-like green.”
“I always thought my eyes looked like my mother’s.”

“You look exactly like Laura except for your eye color. When I first saw you yesterday I thought Laura had returned.”
The other elders behind him also nodded.
Zeke closed the lid of the necklace and hung it around his neck.
“Thank you my lord. I will treasure it.”
Rufus said looking at Zeke.
“One day after Laura left the family the child came back after a long time. Then he left again after saying just one word.”
“What are you saying?”
“The child with the black eyes will restore the family to its original state.”
Zeke’s expression hardened.
“Did your mother make a prophecy?”
Rufus nodded.
“Laura was a healer class but she was also an irregular. She was extraordinary since she was young.”
In the Central Continent the perception of Irregulars was not very positive.
During the Holy Empire there were even religious trials and heresy hunts against Irregulars.
‘My mother was an irregular…’
Rufus took Zeke’s hand and said.
“You said you needed the support of your family more than that. What do you mean by support Zeke? You are the sole successor to this Agamemnon family.”
* * *
“Phew.”
Zeke swung his sword while holding Bahamut in the training room of Castle Agamemnon and catching his breath.
Since the head of the household designated Zeke as the successor to the family he decided to stay in the castle longer to handle various procedures.
Since there was still time until the martial arts competition Zeke decided to follow Gaju’s words.
And during his stay Zeke learned the ‘Golden Sword’ the secret sword technique of the Agamemnon family.
He first learned the art of swordsmanship by watching the legends of the Agamemnon family.
As expected from a family with a long tradition the Agamemnon family also had a long history of swordsmanship.
The traditional swordsmanship that direct bloodlines had to learn was shield swordsmanship which involved handling both a shield and a sword.
As he was learning the sword form Zeke felt that this sword technique was similar to not only the Paladin tradition sword technique but also the Imperial style sword technique.
‘Do all three swordsmanship techniques have the same roots?’
In particular the Golden Sword a shield sword technique in the Agamemnon style was a sword technique created on the premise of wearing full plate armor and carrying a huge kite shield.
Zeke seemed to understand why Agamemnon’s men were so physically fit.
As he was learning the Golden Sword one thing came to mind.
‘The Golden Sword Technique is a technique with a good balance of offense and defense. If you combine it with the Honshinki you learned from your former master.’
Since the dragon tribe skill the spirit magic had not been unlocked yet I could not use the perfect soul skill.
After the opening of the Unsungryul if you combine the Golden Sword Technique with the Perfect Soul Technique a new weapon could be born following the Elemental Sword and the True Dragon Sword.
After learning the sword form to some extent Zeke activated Hersion and put on full plate armor then lifted Golin’s shield and Bahamut and tried out Agamemnon’s golden sword technique.
Phew!
He struck with his shield retreated stabbed with his sword then turned around and swung his sword again.
There I increased my agility with the whirlwind and strengthened my attacks with the aura.
Whee!
Even without creating an Aura Blade Zeke’s attacks were fast and powerful enough that ordinary knights would not be able to easily block them.
Hmph!
“Phew.”
Zeke who had released his helmet smiled with satisfaction at his movements.
He looked down at Herzion and licked his lips.
“This is really good but I can’t use it properly because I’m afraid of getting trampled by those imperial bastards.”
I wanted to use it actively if only I could change the form.
Zig decided to take the time to meet with Golin in person and discuss remodeling Hersion.
Deciding to finish his training at this point he released Hersion and left the training room.
When he went out into the garden he saw Agamemnon’s elders surrounding Felix and watching him practice his swordplay.
WHEEK!
“You can’t turn around there!”
“Hold on a little more!”
“Hold on to your center of gravity!”
The Paladin’s traditional swordsmanship and Agamemnon’s golden swordsmanship had many similarities so it was clear that learning them from the elders would be of great help to both.
But Felix who was actually being taught felt like he was dying.
“Ugh. Master. Please save me.”
Felix looked at Zeke with a tearful expression but Zeke turned his head away and ignored the distress signal.
‘Work hard Felix. It’s not that I’m lazy to teach you.’
Felix was a sweet prey to the elders who had been trapped in the castle for 50 years.
Zeke left Felix who was being cooked by the elders and went into the castle.
At that moment the head maid approached Zeke.
“Your Majesty. The Master is calling.”
The maid who had the gloomy appearance of an old woman when I first saw her disappeared and took on a more elegant appearance as the days passed.
‘It’s still a little scary when I laugh sometimes and make a hissing sound.’
Zeke followed the maid’s words and walked to the head of the household’s office.
When I went into Rufus’ office I saw a mountain of documents piled on his desk.
As the Agamemnon family came out into the world after fifty years there were more than a few things to deal with.
“Grandfather.”
When the two of them were together Rufus asked to be called his maternal grandfather not his father.
Rufus got up from his seat when he saw Zeke coming through the pile of papers.
“Whew. It’s been a while since I’ve done any paperwork so my head’s starting to hurt. Let’s go out and have a cup of tea.”
As Rufus and Zeke went out onto the terrace the maids brought out some tea.
Zeke asked Rufus.
“Then how have you been running the city so far?”
Rufus said stroking his neatly trimmed beard.
“I left it to agents outside the territory and only made important decisions and sent them by letter.”
“There were agents.”
Rufus said putting down his teacup.
“That’s why I called you anyway.”
He said looking at Zeke.
“The Agamemnon family has been the guardians of Mycenae for a long time. At the same time the three families helped us manage Mycenae and the surrounding territories.”
“That’s what they said.”
“Zeke you must be recognized by them in order to become the official successor of Agamemnon.”
It was a kind of safety device put in place to prevent those in power from becoming dictators.
Zeke nodded at Rufus’ words.
“That’s good. I already had something I wanted to ask of you Grandfather.”
“What is it? Tell me anything.”
Zeke’s eyes sparkled at Rufus’ words.
“I would like you to invite the heads and lords of all the families connected with Agamemnon including the three families that are your agents to the castle.”
