    Episode 70

    Wheeing!

Zeke took Felix to the castle of Agamemnon.

As the syndicate branch manager said the road to the castle itself was blocked so we had to get off the carriage halfway and walk towards the castle.

“Master Ma. It’s so gloomy in here.”

The path to the castle was overgrown with strangely grown trees and thorny vines here and there making it impossible for people to pass.

Eventually Zeke and Felix made a path by cutting through the thorns with their daggers.

After struggling to climb the desolate hill road the two finally stood in front of Agamemnon’s castle.

Felix knocked on the gate as Zeke nodded.

    Boom! Boom!

Dust was falling from the door as if it had not been opened for a long time.

When there was no response Felix knocked on the door and shouted.

“Sir Zeke Draker a pureblood Awakened member of the Draker family and the youngest Blue-Ranked Knight on the continent has come to visit House Agamemnon!”

Felix knocked on the gate a few more times before he heard any noise from inside.

    Squeak!

As the door opened an old woman in a maid’s outfit with gray hair white eyes and skin like a tree came out.

“Coolook. Your name is Sir Zeke Draker isn’t it?”

The old woman spoke in a voice that sounded like nails scraping against metal.

Felix was slightly frightened by the sight of the strange old woman.

Zeke who had been behind stepped forward.

“I am Zeke Draker. I wish to see the lord of House Agamemnon.”

The old woman came toward Zeke and stroked his face with her long dry hands.

In the middle Felix tried to stop the old woman but Zeke raised his hand and stopped him.

After a while the old woman smiled strangely.

    “Hic hic hic hic!”

It sounded like a donkey about to pant.

The old woman spoke to Zeke and Felix.

    “Hehehe come in.”

Zeke and Felix followed the old woman through the gate.

The inside of the castle had not been cleaned for a long time so there was a thick layer of dust and cobwebs everywhere.

All the furniture was covered in cloth which gave it a strange feeling.

Felix feeling goosebumps leaned close to Zeke and whispered softly.

“Master Ma something is a bit strange here.”

“I know but I wish Felix would walk a little more if he fell.”

The old woman lit an old lantern and climbed up the narrow spiral staircase.

Zeke followed the old woman and examined the structure and materials of the castle.

‘It’s a very old castle. It looks like it’s at least 1000 years old.’

It could have been even older than that.

As I followed the old woman up the stairs and down the narrow hallway a door appeared in front of me.

As I was guided inside I saw a large room with a long table and faint figures gathered around it.

Old men with disheveled white hair pale faces dark circles around their eyes and unfocused hollow eyes were sitting in their seats dressed in old noble attire.

Felix looked surprised when he saw them and tried to step back.

    “Master Ma. You’re a ghost!”

Zeke kept Felix in his place by stamping on his foot as he fussed.

Zeke approached the old people and greeted them.

“Zeg Drake sends greetings to the elders of the House of Agamemnon the lords of Mycenae.”

Even after Zeke spoke the ghostly old men remained silent.

At that moment an old maid holding a candle came dragging something.

    Kiriririk!

The old woman began to place a soup with a strange smell in front of the ghostly old men.

Then he placed portions for Zeke and Felix on the empty seats at the table.

The old woman said to Zeke.

    “Eek! Eek! Enjoy your meal.”

When Zeke looked at Felix he sat down helplessly completely frightened.

When I stirred the soup the old woman had prepared with a spoon it was a thick mixture of unknown ingredients.

The ghostly old men ate their soup in silence.

Zik also picked up a spoon and started eating the soup.

Felix looked around and slowly scooped up some soup and put it in his mouth.

    “Ouch!”

It was a taste that I absolutely could not swallow.

Looking to the side I saw Zeke sitting upright eating his soup diligently.

Felix reflected as he looked at such a zeke.

‘This is also a journey of hardship to become a great knight.’

He steeled himself and took a big spoonful of soup into his mouth.

    ‘Eww.’

But there was nothing that didn’t taste good.

After Felix had finished eating all the soup the old woman came back and took the bowl away.

The one sitting at the top of the list of ghostly elders looked at Zig with blank eyes.

Zeke spoke to the old man.

“I have a favor to ask of you my lord.”

The old man still didn’t say anything.

    Zeke continued.

“As a direct descendant of the Agamemnon family I would like to receive your support.”

At those words the eyebrows of the other ghostly old men including the old man sitting at the head of the table twitched subtly.

At that moment an old woman’s strange laughter was heard from behind.

    Eek! Eek! Eek!

At that moment the old man sitting at the head of the table suddenly jumped up from his seat.

    “omg!”

Felix was startled by the sight.

The ghost old man was much taller than expected.

He looked at Zeke with his piercing eyes then turned around and went somewhere.

Zeke also got up from his seat and followed the old man.

Felix followed Zeke his body trembling.

The tall ghostly old man walked down the dark hallway and into the room at the end.

Zeke followed him in as well.

The oil lamp and candles were left on as the magic light had not come on.

The room was packed tightly with a huge number of books probably used as a study.

Then Zeke noticed a painting hanging on one wall of the study.

“Light the wall over there with the Felix lantern.”

At Zeke’s words Felix shined a lantern on the wall.

    “omg!”

Felix was so startled by the picture of the scroll hanging on the wall that he almost dropped the lamp.

This is because it vividly depicts the horrific sight of countless people vomiting blood and dying.

The dead were piled up like a mountain and those in agony and writhing were kneeling before them.

It must have been a very bad taste to hang such a picture in the study.

At that moment a tall ghostly old man appeared towards Zeke.

But he was holding a long sharp skewer in his hand.

Felix was surprised and blocked Zeke’s path.

“Master Ma! I will stop you so dodge!”

The sight of Felix standing in front of Zeke shivering was pitiful.

Zeke patted Felix on the shoulder and stopped him.

“Felix. It’s okay. Just step aside.”

The ghostly old man approached the scroll with a skewer in his hand and a scary picture on it.

Then he picked up the skewer and swung it backwards.

Then another picture appeared behind the folding screen.

Zeke looked at the picture carefully.

    ‘That’s?’

It seemed like a scene of people dumping bodies on the lakeside.

The lakeside was as red as blood.

And there was a picture of someone throwing themselves into the lake while holding something to their chest.

The lake was bubbling around him.

The ghostly old man turned the table over again and looked at Zig with blank eyes.

He suddenly opened his mouth wide.

A dried black tongue was visible inside the mouth.

    Shhh! Shhh!

A sound of air escaping was heard from the old man’s mouth.

At the same time a strange tearing sound came out from inside my throat.

『The symbol of the family! No! Cursed! Unworthy of succession! Cursed! In this place! Everyone dies! Die!』

Felix’s legs gave out at the strange sound that did not sound like a human voice.

The ghostly old man was hissing and glaring at Zeke and Felix.

Zick looked at the old man and said.

“Are you saying that because the symbol of the family has disappeared I am no longer qualified to be the successor?”

The old man nodded in agreement with Zeke’s words.

Felix’s eyes widened at the sight.

‘How did that just get interpreted that way?’

Zeke realized something and took Felix out of the study.

“Master Ma. This place is really cursed. We should just go back to Atlas…”

Just then an old woman appeared in the hallway.

    “Eek! Eek!”

Zig asked the old woman who was making strange noises.

“Let me ask you something. Did the family symbol sink to the bottom of the lake?”

The old woman who had been making strange noises nodded.

He turned on the map and looked around the castle.

Then I discovered a large lake behind the castle.

    ‘Lake Nahuel. This is it.’

“Show me the way to the lake.”

Then the old woman’s expression changed.

The expression changed from a giggling laughing expression to a stiff expression like a plaster statue.

Zeke said to the old woman.

“It’s okay. Don’t worry and just guide me.”

The old woman stared hard into Zig’s face.

Then at one moment a strange sound came out of the old woman’s mouth.

“Kuluk kuluk! Heeeek! The black-eyed child will heeeek! Return the family to its original state heeeek!”

The old woman turned around and walked away.

    Zeke said to Felix.

    “Let’s follow.”

    Felix followed Zeke sweating profusely.

How long had they walked through the labyrinthine corridors following the old woman? At some point the three of them stood in front of a small door leading outside the castle.

The old woman opened the door.

Zeke said to the old woman.

“You can find it from here.”

Then the old woman bowed her head towards Zeke.

The door slammed shut as Zeke and Felix went outside.

“Ugh Master. It’s really so weird here.”

Zig turned on the map and answered quietly as he looked for a way to the lakeside.

“Stop nagging and come with me Felix.”

Zeke looked at the map and led Felix up the hill through a rough terrain covered with strangely shaped bushes and thorns.

After climbing for a while a huge lake appeared at the top.

Felix opened his mouth wide at the sight of the lake.

“Wow this is the first time I’ve seen such a big lake.”

I never thought there would be a place like this on a hill.

Zeke bent down and examined the lake water.

The lake water smelled bad and was cloudy.

Zeke thought back to the picture he had seen earlier.

And I remembered the image of a person jumping into the lake holding something in the picture.

Zeke guessed that there must be some connection between the painting and the curse of the Agamemnon family since the old man had insisted on showing it to him.

‘I guess I’ll have to go in and see for myself to find out.’

Zeke thought for a moment and then opened the item shop.

And among the potions I bought ‘Whale’s Breath’ which has the ability to breathe underwater.

    Zeke said to Felix.

“I’m going to Lake Felix and come back. It might take a while so wait here.”

Felix was terrified and tried to stop him but he couldn’t stop Zeke who had made up his mind.

Zeke gave Felix the camping gear from his inventory drank the potion and jumped straight into the lake.

The lake was as deep as it was enormous.

Zig used his dragon eye skill to secure his vision.

‘Let’s take a look and see what’s there.’

Zeke swam deep into the lake.

The lake was so deep that you couldn’t see the bottom no matter how far you went in.

It was only then as he was amazed at the depth of the lake that Zig finally reached the bottom of the lake.

‘Wow it’s a lot deeper than I thought.’

As he was walking along the lakebed in earnest Zeke discovered something.

    ‘It’s just bones.’

A huge number of skeletons were sunken beneath the lakebed.

Zeke examined the condition of the skeletons.

‘It seems like it’s been here for quite some time. At least 50 years.’

Zeke walked among the skeletons looking around intently to see if anything caught his eye.

    That was when.

Something shining white was visible among the bones.

    ‘what?’

    Zeke slowly approached the light.

A halo of light was leaking out from between the piled up bones.

Zeke cleared the skeleton and looked inside.

Surprisingly unlike the other skeletons one skeleton that had maintained its original shape was holding something glowing in both hands.

It was a delicately crafted golden mask.

‘Is this the symbol of the Agamemnon family? It doesn’t seem like an ordinary artifact.’

He took the artifact out of Baekgol’s hand.

Then the skeletal body suddenly shattered into pieces and turned into dust.

At the same time the halo coming from the artifact also disappeared.

    ‘What is this?’

At first I thought it was something related to the Agamemnon family but the feeling was somehow familiar.

Zeke looked closely at the mask where the halo had disappeared.

And then I discovered that there was a sun-shaped pattern drawn on the forehead of the mask.

‘It looks similar to the emblem of the Holy Kingdom.’

    That was when.

    Kugugugugugu!

Something was approaching quickly behind Zeke.

In an instant a message window appeared before Zig’s eyes.
