A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 603
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 603
Zig was puzzled by the words of the great sage.
“You want me to make you a shadow guardian? Are you talking about the wise man?”
Although he had made Caligula the Blood King who was the master of Shambhala and Lilith the angel and demon of the Gemini constellation his guardian spirits he had never thought of making the great sage a shadow guardian spirit.
In response to Zeke’s bewildered reaction the great sage pointed to the broken homunculus and said:
[My soul summoned with the key to the Kronos Report does not last long. I will inject the remaining power into this homunculus so please have Sir Zeke absorb it and make it a shadow guardian.]
Zeke looked at the great sage with a serious face and said:
“Do you know what that means? It means that your soul though a part of it is bound to me forever.”
The great sage nodded to Zeke’s words.
[I know.]
He put his hand on his heart and spoke to Zeke politely.
[Anyway most of my soul is currently sealed in the Book of the Dead with the Demon King. The fact that a portion of my soul became a heroic spirit and stayed in the Peach Blossom Land was also one of the arrangements prepared by the main body.]
Zeke was astonished by the great sage’s words.
“Then does that mean that the sage’s soul is sealed together with the Demon King’s soul?”
The great sage’s spirit nodded.
[That may be true. Siemens Apollyon the second demon king to descend was a perfect vessel. In order to separate that body and the demon king’s soul the power of my soul was needed.]
Zeke realized that the ‘good will’ that the great sage spoke of was not hypocrisy born of arrogance.
Sacrificing one’s own soul to hold onto the Demon King’s soul until now must have been a noble will that no one could have achieved.
Phage support support –
At that moment a causal aftershock arose from the spirit of the great sage.
He held his staff and slowly approached the broken homunculus.
Then he placed the tip of the staff against the homunculus’ core.
Kiiiiiing―
The soul power flowing from the staff began to flow into the core.
Then the homunculus that had stopped moving began to move again.
Wooooow!

The homunculus’ eyes soon turned golden.
As the light flowing from the staff seemed to have completely disappeared the spirit’s body became much fainter than before.
Zeke could feel the spirits losing their powers fading away.
The great sage’s spirit looked at Zeke and said.
[Due to the sanctions of causality there are limits to what I can say to you.]
The great sage’s spirit which had become translucent continued speaking as if it was regrettable.
[When the Demon King finally arrived in the world of the living when the Demon King descended upon Bahamut… who… did it…]
The great sage’s spirit was unable to finish his words properly and just disappeared into a halo of light.
Zeke looked at the traces of the disappeared sage and thought about the last words he had left behind.
‘Who brought the Demon King down to Bahamut? Is this where the answer to the question I asked lies?’
Until now Zig had thought that those who resurrected the Demon King in the War of Liberation were naturally followers of Siemens Apollyon and the origin of the Abyss.
But when I thought about it carefully their true identity was quite unclear.
‘Who led the resurrection of the third demon lord?’
Zeke thought there might be a secret hidden here.
Ki-ki-ki-ki-ki!
It was only after hearing a strange sound that he realized that while he was lost in thought the broken homunculus was crawling along the floor and moving somewhere.
“A noble will… is followed. The wheel of destiny is broken. The world is regulated.”
The broken homunculus was still blindly trying to carry out its original will.
Zeke who was watching this stretched his shadow towards the crawling homunculus.
Tsk tsk tsk tsk―
The homunculus of the great sage crawling with a broken body slowly began to sink into Zeke’s shadow.
“Tune tune. Tune the world.”
Even as it sank into the shadows the homunculus repeated the same words.
Soon the homunculus was completely absorbed into the shadows and a message emerged.
[Absorbed the ‘Blind Clone of the Great Sage’ which contained a portion of the great sage’s soul.]
[The ‘Blind Ego of the Great Sage’ succumbs to the full power of the <Wall-Crosser>.]
[The ‘Blind Clone of the Great Sage’ has been reconstructed into a shadow incarnation with the power of re-creation.]
[The reconstructed shadow avatar is registered as the user’s guardian.]
Kookookookookook!
Soon an incarnation wearing black robes emerged from Zeke’s shadow.
thud!
The shadowy incarnation wearing a black mask on its face was holding a black staff.
As he was an incarnation of a homunculus recreated with the soul of a great sage he seemed to have the appearance of a wizard.
[Would you like to give this Guardian a name?]
Seeing the message that had surfaced Zeke pondered over a name for the new shadow incarnation.
After a while he slowly opened his mouth.
“Don’t be an innocent.”

He gave the Guardian a name from an ancient word meaning purity.
As Zeke gave him a name Innocent’s eyes flashed behind his black mask.
As a shadow incarnation created from the soul of a great sage it was certain that he would display great power.
Zeke stood up and spoke to Innocent.
“Take me to the Book of the Innocent Lion and the place where the black star is hidden.”
At Zeke’s words Innocent picked up his cane.
Woohoo!
There was a vibration from the staff and a portal of white light opened in front of it.
It seemed to be a portal leading to where the Lion’s Book was.
‘Master please hold on a little longer.’
Zeke caught his breath and jumped straight into the portal.
* * *
Kugugugugugu!
Nigel and Nabu met in a triangle formation facing the storm of power flying towards them.
“Eww!”
Nabu who was supporting the barrier with an open book behind him let out a death sound.
“Ugh! Meet me! Do something about it!”
At Nabu’s shout he clasped his hands together and chanted a Buddhist prayer to strengthen the barrier.
But as the storm of power flying towards them grew stronger it became difficult to concentrate.
Kookookookook!
Nigel who was at the forefront holding his sword and striking the enemy clenched his teeth.
Then he finally opened his mouth and said.
“I’ll stop that. Meet me and complete the absolute barrier in the meantime.”
Nabu was startled by Nigel’s words.
“Grandma! How are you going to stop that by yourself!”
Nigel not paying attention to Nabu’s words raised his sword and took another step forward.
I felt the power of my soul being concentrated on her sword.
Nabu who saw this also caught his breath and stepped forward towards Manna.
Then he opened the book and read the passage that summoned the defensive wall.
Kookookookookook!
A virtual wall appeared in front of Nabu creating a protective barrier to allow him to focus.
Naboo shouted at Nigel.
“Grandma! This side is fine!”
With those words Nigel leapt forward and swung his sword at the storm of power.
Honshinki
Double Spell
The will to reflect
The storm of power that collided with Nigel’s all-out double spell began to roll back.
Kugugugugugugugu!
As the storm of power turned back due to the will of reflection the identity of the hidden being was revealed.
Kookookookookook!
Surprisingly at the center of the storm was Ivan a high table.
Nigel shouted at Ivan.
“Ivan! Get out of there right now!”
But Ivan didn’t move from his spot despite Nigel’s warning.
He had activated the defensive magic circle that had been placed here to prevent Nigel and his party from reaching the Book of the Dead.
‘You really don’t listen to what I say.’
Nigel thinking that Ivan would not give in reluctantly raised his sword again.
Wooooow!
Nigel’s sword strike imbued with the power of his soul flew towards Ivan.
Kwakwakwakwa!
Ivan saw Nigel’s sword strike flying towards him then raised his left and right hands simultaneously and drew a magic circle in the air.
The magic was activated as ancient runes were carved into the air.
A black shape emerged from the two runes each forming a shape.
One was in the form of a grim reaper holding a giant scythe while the other was a half-human half-beast with a jackal’s head and a hook.
He swung his scythe and hook at Nigel’s sword strikes as the half-human half-beast and half-goat flew towards him.
Kwakwakwakwa!
Nigel’s sword strike was canceled out with a loud crash sending shockwaves scattering in all directions.
At the same time the absolute barrier that had been created from behind began to extend and envelop the entire stone chamber.
Tsk tsk tsk tsk―
The powerful storm that was about to engulf Nigel and his party was counteracted by Manna’s absolute barrier and they regained stability.
“Ugh! I thought I was going to die.”
Nabu sighed lying flat on the floor.
But Nigel still stood firm sword in hand glaring at Ivan and his summons.
She opened her mouth again to address Ivan.
“Get out of the way Ivan.”
Despite Nigel’s warning Ivan still did not move.
Behind him was a firmly closed door.
The Book of the Lion and the Black Star are sealed together right behind that door.
Nigel spoke to Ivan again.
“We must destroy the Book of the Dead and the Black Star before they enter here. If they fall into the hands of the enemy….”
Then Ivan opened his mouth in a numb tone.
“The Book of the Lion is not something that can be touched carelessly. If you are not careful the seal may be broken and the power of the Demon King trapped inside may leak out.”
Then the man behind him shouted at Ivan while sitting down.
“The Demon King can’t descend without a vessel anyway! Then it doesn’t matter if some of it leaks out!”
Then Ivan shook his head.
“That’s not true. The power of the Demon King is dangerous in itself. Even just the power that leaked out while sealed was enough to create countless demons. But what would happen if the seal was broken and the power of the Demon King leaked out directly?”
At Ivan’s words Nabu opened his mouth wide and made an embarrassed expression.
“Oh I hadn’t thought of that.”
Nigel spoke to Ivan with his brow furrowed.
“Don’t change the subject Ivan. You are planning to completely destroy the Demon King’s power by incompletely transferring the power to Zeke Draker according to the leader’s plan. If you do that only half of the Lion’s Book will remain and the Demon King’s complete resurrection will fail.”
Ivan slowly opened his mouth to listen to Nigel’s words.
“Sometimes sacrifice is necessary for a noble cause.”
Nigel clenched his teeth at his answer.
“You damn bastard. Why are you forcing that sacrifice on my disciple?”
Jiji …
As an enraged Nigel drew upon her true power a causal storm arose around her body under the sanction of karma.
You could tell from the look on his face how angry Nigel was.
She took another step towards Ivan.
“Get out of the way. If you try to stop me any longer I won’t care if you’re on the same high table as me.”
But then it happened.
Tsk tsk tsk tsk―
A crimson portal opened on all sides of the stone chamber and a line of black stage actors wearing Draker uniforms came out from within.
Among them who had completely exited the portal stood a strong-looking man with black gloves eyebrows and no hair.
Baron Draker the leader of the Drakers’ Dark Stage appeared.
“What are those!”
Nabu was taken aback by the sudden appearance of Draker’s black stage.
Nigel also turned towards Baron and the Dark Stage wary of Ivan.
Ivan’s face which had been expressionless the whole time frowned slightly as if he had not expected the situation.
Then the blindfolded woman standing next to Baron Draker took a step forward.
She is Ingel the left wing captain of the Black Stage.
He was the central figure of the Black Stage Intelligence Department handling all information coming into the Draker family.
Ingel shouted at the high tables.
“A new era of great Drake is about to begin! You old ghosts of the old days stop struggling and go with the flow of change!”
Ingel’s one remaining eye a maddening loyalty to Draker was evident.
When Nabu heard that he opened his mouth wide as if he was shocked.
Nigel said to Ivan with a frown.
“Are you really going to let those guys take the Book of the Dead?”
Instead of answering Nigel’s question Ivan simply glanced at the black stage crew.
That was when.
Baron Draker who had been standing behind stepped forward.
Then he pointed with his finger to the door behind Ivan.
“Drake break through and get the Book of the Dead.”
At Baron’s words all the members of the Dark Stage changed into eyes like fanatics.
His voice echoed in their ears.
“Our God desires it.”
