    Episode 59

    Andrey entered the special compartment.

Diego and Aster woke up when they saw Andrei who was an assistant professor at Valhalla.

    “Hello Professor Yo.”

Zik asked Andrey while sitting down.

    “What is happening here?”

Andrei answered putting down his bag and sitting across from Zik.

    “It’s a dispatch.”

“Are you going with me on the Black Yakcha mission?”

“Yes. Surely they would only send students on a mission to subdue the enemies of the continent?”

Andrey currently holds the rank of Draker Intermediate Knight.

That alone is more than enough to make him the vice-captain of any knight order.

Andrey sat with his legs crossed and looked at Zik.

“Do you know what kind of place Delphi is?”

Of course Zeke knew it well but he shook his head since he had never been there in his current life.

“I only know what I learned in class. I heard that unlike other places this is a place where magicians are the best.”

    Andrey nodded.

“Yes. It’s a place with a rather unique system.”

Aster who was standing next to him intervened.

“Oh Professor. Usually the knights stand in front and put pressure on the enemies while the magicians assist. But in Delphos is it the other way around?”

Andrey looked at Aster and answered.

“That’s a very good question. The bottom line is no.”

“Yes? Then are the knights going to come forward as well?”

“Yes. However unlike other places the knights of Delphos mainly use shields. They mainly use the tactic of having the knights charge at the enemies with their shields while the battle magicians from behind incapacitate the enemies with long-range attacks.”

    Aster frowned at those words.

“Then wouldn’t the damage to the allies who are stuck with the enemy be great?”

    “You’re sharp Cadet Aster.”

Andrei’s expression softened as if his affection for Aster had increased.

“That is why the knights of Delphos are said to practice running around the battlefield with shields more than with swords.”

This was the reason why the Knights of Delphos were unpopular among Valhalla graduates.

After all the Knights of Delphos only served as a protective wall to protect the magicians.

Diego who was listening to this from the side muttered.

“Can’t regular soldiers just come and go with a shield?”

At those words Zeke clicked his tongue and said.

“An ordinary soldier wouldn’t be able to run around in a melee while carrying heavy armor and shields. In order to buy time for the wizards to prepare their spells and to be able to dodge the incoming spells you would have to be at least as skilled as a formally trained knight.”

    Andrey nodded at Zik’s words.

“Yes. The reason I brought this up was to warn you in advance so that you won’t be too surprised when you go to Delphi.”

Zik knew exactly what Andrei meant.

‘The Delphos wizard bastards are so filthy arrogant.’

The magicians from Delphos who were proud of being the home of magic were known for their strong pride.

Moreover many of the famous battle wizards came from Delphos rather than from the Tower of Magic or Nirvana.

The wizards from Delphos were familiar with combat magic and had a well-organized system.

But because of that I came to think that the knights were worse than dog poop.

They thought of her as a servant who would take care of their bodies until they could use magic.

It was obvious that 80% of the reasons why knights who joined the Delphos Knights moved to other places were because of conflicts with magicians and 20% were because of harassment by magicians.

But Andrei’s warning did not go down well with Diego and Aster.

Zeke clicked his tongue inwardly as he looked at the two.

‘Go and experience it. It’ll be a culture shock.’

“Are you the personnel dispatched to Valhalla?”

A large bearded man greeted Zeke and his party at Delphos’ central station.

He held out his hand to Andrei in an arrogant manner.

“I am Jorge Outer commander of the 8th Knights of Delpoa.”

Andrei shook hands with Jorge as his guide.

“My name is Andrei Draker and I am an assistant professor at Valhalla.”

Jorge was surprised when young Andrei told him that he was a professor at Valhalla and a full-fledged Drake and he grabbed the hand he had shaken with his free one.

“I didn’t know that the de Drake family sent the dispatch directly.”

    He shook his head.

“This time I came as a leader for the students participating in the mission.”

The hairy man glanced at Zeke and Diego Aster behind him.

He looked slightly disappointed at the sight of Zeke who looked young at first glance Diego who looked like a hawk and Aster who looked sickly.

Andrei noticing his thoughts opened his mouth.

“The cadets who came with me are some of the most talented people in Valhalla. They will be able to complete their mission without any problems.”

Jorge led Andrei’s group hiding his uneasy look.

“Come this way. The captain is over there.”

Diego who was behind her tilted his head at those words.

“The captain? Didn’t that hairy guy say he was the captain earlier?”

“It was a whisper” Zeke said poking Diego in the ribs.

    “Just stay still Diego.”

    Diego was completely clueless.

As we stepped out of the central station there was a magnificent carriage parked in front of us.

As Jorge approached the carriage the window swung open.

Inside the carriage sat a pale man with squinty eyes who looked at Andrei Zik and the others without saying a word.

Then he gave Jorge some instructions closed the window and started the carriage.

    Diego tapped Zeke and whispered.

    “Are you the head wizard?”

    Zeke nodded.

As the wizard leader left first pulling the carriage Jorge guided the group to the prepared carriage.

Just looking at the carriage that had been prepared it was clear that it was much cruder and of lower quality than the one the wizard leader was riding in earlier.

But Andrei Zik and their party got into the carriage without saying a word.

    The carriage soon departed.

Only then did Diego begin to pour out his words.

“What! It’s not like I want to be treated like a Valhalla student! But this is shhh! This is too much! And we’re even on a joint mission!”

Then Zeke kicked Diego in the shin.

“Ugh! Professor Zeke and Andrei are official Drakes so why aren’t they saying anything yo!”

    Zeke said looking at Diego.

“Didn’t you hear what the professor said earlier? Delphos is a place like that so that’s to be expected. At least the captain came forward to see it since it was a Valhalla dispatch. If the knights from other sides had come they wouldn’t have even come out.”

    Andrey also nodded.

“Cadets you will encounter many unexpected situations as you continue your life as knights in the Central Continent after graduation. The atmosphere of Delfoa is very different from that of the cities in Midland so remember what you see and learn here.”

After saying that he looked at Zeke again.

Although he was the youngest here he seemed to know the atmosphere of Delphos very well.

‘Zeke Draker. Even up close I still can’t tell. He’s really full of mysteries.’

After listening to Zeke Andrei gave in and was able to receive teachings from the Duke.

Perhaps that’s why Andrei was beginning to feel curious and attracted to Zeke.

I was eager to see his incredible growth up close.

That is why he was the first to apply to be the leader of this mission but he himself was not aware of it.

The carriage ran for quite some time until it reached the outskirts of Delphi.

I got off the carriage and looked around. It seemed like a barracks.

But the training equipment was unique.

Most of them were training facilities for battle magic.

    “Come this way.”

Jorge guided Zeke and his men into the barracks.

For the students of Valhalla they provided facilities for the common soldiers and even prepared a separate cell for Andrei to use.

‘That looks like it was prepared in a hurry too.’

It felt like one of the knights’ quarters had been hurriedly vacated as if they hadn’t expected an official Drake knight to come as their guide.

Diego was lying on the old field bunk grumbling and Aster had a blank expression on his face as if he had not been able to sleep.

Zeke who had been wandering around and performing missions since his previous life had received much worse treatment than this so he was not particularly impressed.

The only thing that was concerning was the mission to eradicate the Black Yacha itself.

‘I remember that Black Yaksha survived for quite some time and made it all the way to the Northern Continent.’

This period in Zeke’s past life was when he was working hard as a Southern hitman.

Since he had heard news of the Black Yacha here and there after destroying the McCain Cartel in his previous life and coming to the Central Continent it seemed like he had survived this expedition without dying.

Zeke thought back to the attitude of the leader of the magic group he had seen in front of the central station earlier and thought that it might be a natural result.

‘I guess it’s fortunate that we don’t get counterattacked.’

However since I don’t know what kind of influence Zeke might have had in the present life when he applied for early graduation I thought I should first experience it firsthand.

    Then Andrey came in.

“They said there’s a briefing in the situation room so let’s go in.”

Led by Andrei Zeke and his party headed to the situation room.

When I went in I saw that the Black Yacha had set up a camp and was holding out in the area and a magical image was being displayed.

Zeke clicked his tongue as he looked at the expensive magic video device.

‘This is another waste of money for a facility like this.’

Watching the battle the magicians plotted and devised tactics.

The knights including Jorge stood behind and listened to the wizards’ tactics concentrating only on when and where they should raise their shields and charge at the enemies.

The wizard with the owl eyes that we had seen on the carriage earlier beckoned to Zeke and his party with an arrogant attitude.

As Zeke and his party approached he spoke in a similarly unfortunate voice to his appearance.

“There’s nothing much to do in Valhalla. Don’t bother me by getting injured by magic and just stay quiet and go back.”

Zeke and his group held back the words that were about to come out of their mouths asking why they had asked for cooperation if that was the case.

At the same time listening to the words of the wizard leader Zeke could immediately tell that their organizational structure was in disarray.

‘Looking at it there are hardly any knights who are as good as the Purple Knights. Like the captain Jorge.’

It was absurd that there were no blue knights in the order but if it was the 8th order it seemed like it was more of a supplementary force than the official knights of Delphos.

At that moment the magician leader turned his head and was startled when he saw the black gloves Zeke was wearing.

He got up from his seat and looked at Zeke.

“Could it be that you are a pureblood Awakened Draker?”

At those words Zeke looked at the captain and said.

    “Yes but what’s wrong?”

The magician commander’s expression distorted at Zeke’s tone.

In Delphi it was impossible for a knight to behave in this way towards a magician.

But Zeke is not just any knight he gritted his teeth and spoke to Zeke.

“…You’d better not take off those gloves here. If you want to complete your mission safely and return home.”

Draker’s pureblood Awakened possessed the power of disrupting magic so wizards would not like them.

    ‘Being sensitive.’

Zeke didn’t really respond and just quietly passed it by.

After some time had passed the briefing in the situation room was over and everyone began to disperse. Zeke and his party had to wait in the office until they went on a mission at dawn the next day.

As he was about to return to the barracks someone approached Zeke and called his name.

    “Gun Zeke!”

When I turned my head surprisingly there was someone I knew standing there.

    “Professor Payne?”

I wondered why someone who had moved to the Delphos Royal Institute of Magic was in such a remote barracks.

“It’s been a long time Mr. Zeke! How have you been?”

“I was fine. But why are you here Professor…?”

Then Payne made an awkward expression.

Even without hearing it Zeke seemed to know something.

‘I guess I got pushed out in the power struggle.’

For wizards it was especially important to be good at tightroping in order to succeed.

But Payne was a natural scholar.

There is no way he could have held up well in the fierce Delphic political fights that were famous.

    “Mr. Zeke. Just a moment.”

Then Payne pulled Zeke aside and took him somewhere.

    “Why is that Professor?”

Payne spoke to him with a serious expression.

“Mr. Zeke. Tomorrow’s mission. Don’t go out under any circumstances.”

    “What do you mean?”

Payne whispered with a stern face.

“This mission… is a mission that is doomed to failure. So… you absolutely must not leave.”
