A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 586
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 586
The entire conference room froze in silence at Zeke’s words.
The overlords looked at Zeke without saying anything.
They were originally the constellations with the strongest power and influence among the constellations in the celestial world.
For them the heavens were like a home they could never return to as they were the ones who fell and became demons after resisting the primordial light that constantly sought to destroy civilization and make the world perfect.
It’s not that they didn’t dream of ascending to heaven.
However even if he was a powerful overlord of the Demon World it was impossible for him to return to Heaven.
The one who broke the frozen atmosphere was none other than the demon leader Mephistopheles.
Clang!
As he dropped the glass he was holding to the floor time which had stopped began to flow again and only then did the great monarchs begin to move.
Mephistopheles produced a new goblet and looked at Zeke.
“That’s very interesting Zeke Draker. But you know it’s a very sensitive issue for us so we shouldn’t talk about it so carelessly.”
Mephistopheles who had been showing a friendly attitude towards Zeke glared at him with considerable hostility.
Then Zeke said to Mephistopheles:
“You are nothing more or less than defeated dogs that ran away with their tails tucked in.”
At Zeke’s words a sinister light flashed in the eyes of the five great monarchs including Mephistopheles.
Mephistopheles spoke to Zeke in a voice full of murder.
“It’s better to do it in moderation. If you do it wrong you could end up becoming the person with the shortest time to become a Grand Monarch.”
The other overlords were also pouring out strong murderous intent towards Zeke like Mephistopheles.
If he were a normal human he would have gone mad just from enduring the murderous intent of the great demons but Zeke took it calmly.
At the same time he activated his unique power Absolute Reign.
Kugugugugugu!
The aura of the absolute ruler surged from Zeke’s body and suppressed the murderous intent of the great demons.
In that moment the overlords felt the shadow of a familiar presence behind Zeke.
‘Adversary?’
An absolute ruler who overlooks everything and puts even the arrogant constellations under his feet.

It was felt that the Demon King’s majesty came from the human Zeke.
Zig opened his mouth overwhelming the great demons with the aura of an absolute ruler.
“The sun god or should I say <the most noble one in the sky>?”
The eyes of the great monarchs widened at the constellation names he spoke.
Kookookookookook!
At the same time the appearances of the great demons changed.
Baal transformed into a full-blown Tuma Agares into a dragon-man Asmodeus into a chimera-like beast and Beelzebub into a death knight wearing armor entwined with thorns.
Mephistopheles was the only one who remained in the form of an automaton without changing his appearance.
Judging from the fact that the great demons reacted so sensitively to the mere mention of the constellation it was clear what kind of being the sun god was to them.
They glared at Zeke as if they were going to kill him pouring out their killing intent.
But Zeke still spoke with a calm expression.
“The arrogant savior said that I was the only one who could break the wheel of destiny held by the sun god of heaven.”
He slowly got up from his seat.
“I will destroy all the constellations including the sun god of the heavens and liberate the phenomenal world. Those who stand in my way will be destroyed as soon as they ascend to the phenomenal world.”
Then he looked at each of the great demons carefully and said.
“But if you help me I’ll push the damned constellations out of the sky and put you back in their place. Think carefully about which option is more advantageous for you.”
The eyes of the great demons that had been radiating murderous intent changed slightly as they saw Zig’s confident attitude despite his extremely outrageous remarks.
At that moment Mephistopheles who was listening to this suddenly started laughing and holding his stomach.
“Hahahahaha!”
He said pointing to Zeke.
“Good! Very good! A new overlord should have this much spirit.”
Mephistopheles who was laughing out loud looked at the other great monarchs and said:
“<The Guide to Fair Pain>. Don’t you think it’s a very fitting constellation name? Everyone should brace themselves. If you’re not careful you might end up being eaten by the author.”
At Mephistopheles’ words the overlords glared at Zeke then quickly gathered their energy and returned to their original forms.
Zik sat back down after seeing those overlords.
As the atmosphere in the conference room died down Mephistopheles stood up and shouted.
“No no no! The mood shouldn’t be down on such a fun day! Let’s have a fun party!”
Mephistopheles spread out his fan and started to make a fuss about having a party.
At the same time he snapped his fingers and the surrounding background changed the conference room disappeared and the banquet hall appeared.
The table was filled with all kinds of delicacies from the mountains and the sea as well as rare liquors that are difficult to obtain these days.
The other overlords still had unpleasant expressions on their faces but since it was difficult to leave their respective territories at a time like this they pretended to be defeated and began to enjoy the party prepared by Mephistopheles.
Baal brought out a cask of wine and drank from it Agares ate the corpses of unidentified demons whole and Asmodeus tasted every bite of the delicacies and threw the rest away.
The master of the abyss was quietly watching the colorful flames rising from the brazier without moving an inch from one side.
Mephistopheles the host of the party danced wildly to the music while clowns danced around him and cheered him on.
Zeke clicked his tongue involuntarily as he watched the party of these bizarre overlords.
‘I wonder if they’re all devils they’re completely selfish.’
Watching the great monarchs enjoying parties according to their own desires without any interaction with each other I began to think that this might be the nature of the constellations.

Just then someone approached Zeke.
“Your Majesty.”
It was the butler Shamos I saw when I first arrived here.
Seeing Shamos in his employee’s attire Zeke was once again amazed by the energy he felt from his body.
‘If you compare him to a human he’s at least a Black Knight. How can such a strong person be serving alcohol?’
Shamos said as he looked at Zig.
“What can I prepare for you? Here we can prepare anything you desire. If necessary we can even prepare something to inflict pleasant pain on you…”
Zik closed his eyes tightly after hearing Shamos’s words.
There seemed to be some major misunderstanding because of his new constellation name.
Zick tried to remain calm as he spoke to Shamos.
“It’s okay. I don’t really need anything right now.”
Shamos looked surprised at his words.
Demons were beings who lived by desire.
Although they may be different in type there was clearly a desire that symbolized them.
Especially in this castle where the meeting of the great monarchs was held they were fully prepared to let out their desires more than usual so the great monarchs could comfortably order what they wanted and enjoy it.
But Zeke was showing a distinctly different side from the other overlords.
“Understood Your Majesty. If you need anything please call me at any time.”
Shamos bowed his head toward Zig and stepped back.
Zeke stuck out his tongue as he looked at the other overlords who were always eager to satisfy their own desires without getting tired of them.
While he was wondering if he should just spend his time like this with nothing to do a voice rang in Zeke’s head.
―<Leader of Fair Suffering> I am afraid I may be rude but could you spare me a moment?
Let’s look at the other monarchs. They were still fulfilling their own desires as before. It was a voice that was transmitted without their eyes.
Zeke asked the voice in his mind.
‘Who are you?’
Then the words came back again.
-I am a faithful servant who served the arrogant savior of the past.
Zeke was wary of the person who sent him a secret message.
‘You are a faithful servant. But why did you speak to me in secret without revealing yourself?’
The voice reached him again.
―Please forgive my rudeness. I am confined in this space and cannot greet the great monarch in person.
The voice continued speaking.
-My name is Lilith. I am the first of the arrogant Savior’s followers and an incarnation that has attained divinity.
* * *
After leaving the party hall Zeke followed the butler Shamos down the castle hallway.
The dark hallway was built in the style of the long-collapsed Babel.
Zeke remembered that this was the old castle where the throne of the arrogant savior had stood long ago.
After he was sealed in the phenomenal world Babel was torn apart by other great demons causing the Tower of Babel to collapse as well.
It was at that moment that Mephistopheles set aside the torn castle of the arrogant savior and made it into a space for holding the council of the great monarchs.
The mighty retinue of the arrogant savior who had not chosen a new territory seemed to have been confined to this castle as hired servants for eternity.
Shamos took Zig to the deepest part of the castle’s dungeon and soon a giant door appeared before him.
The image of the arrogant savior descending from heaven to settle the perished in the lowest place was engraved on the door.
As Shamos approached the door and held out his hand the seal responded and the thick door slowly opened.
Kookookookookook!
Shamos guided Zig through the door.
As he entered he heard the sound of chains rattling from inside.
At the same time a thin voice leaked out from the darkness.
“Light some Shamos fire.”
At the voice’s command Shamos lit the candles placed around him.
Then in the darkness a bed hidden behind a curtain appeared.
A faint voice came from inside the curtain.
“Great monarch please forgive my rudeness. Karma does not extend to the realm where I am confined so I have the burden of having to do everything myself.”
Again the sound of chains clinking was heard.
Zeke slowly approached the bedroom hidden behind a curtain.
And I looked inside illuminated by the dim candlelight.
To his surprise sitting on the bed was a mysterious young girl with chains bound her hands and feet.
A slender girl with platinum blonde hair long enough to cover her entire body looked up at Zeke while bound in cold chains.
She said bowing her head towards Zeke.
“Please forgive me for not being polite.”
Zeke nodded to the girl’s words and opened his mouth.
“Are you Lilith?”
“Yes great monarch.”
“Stop saying such strange things.”
She flinched for a moment at Zeke’s words then nodded.
“Okay then you may call me Sir Zeke.”
Zeke nodded.
Soon Shamos brought a chair from behind for Zig to sit on.
He sat on the chair and leveled himself with Lilith.
Then Lilith looked at Zeke and said.
“You may be wondering why I called Sir Zeke here.”
Zig said with a calm expression at Lilith’s words.
“It’s obvious. You’re asking me the successor to the arrogant savior to take you in and end this life of confinement.”
Release remained silent at Zig’s blunt words then shook his head and opened his mouth.
“Sir Zeke what I would like to ask you is… to end our lives.”
Zeke’s eyes widened at the unexpected release.
‘You want me to end my life?’
Chorrrrrr!
The chains restraining the release rang again.
It was a heavy cold iron chain that did not suit her delicate limbs.
Although he felt sorry for the arrogant savior’s followers Zeke tried not to be fooled by their outward appearance.
It was clear that Lilith a powerful demon who could command the butler Shamos was a member of a clan with powers greater than that of a constellation.
The fact that she was imprisoned here could be seen as the other overlords being wary of Lilith’s power and sealing it away just like Aratasso.
Zig said as he watched the release.
“It’s not salvation it’s the end. Does that mean you no longer have any regrets about life?”
At his words Lilith gave a bitter smile that did not match her delicate appearance.
She said looking at Zeke.
“From the beginning we were beings who lived a false life created by an arrogant savior. It’s ridiculous to have any attachment to such a life.”
Zig questioned the self-deprecating remark of the release.
“What does it mean to live a false life?”
She said looking at Zeke.
“You are the successor of the arrogant savior yet you have not seen his true nature.”
Chorrrrrr!
Release reached out to Zig.
“Take my hand and you will know what a false life our arrogant savior has given us.”
