    Episode 560

    Kookookookookook!

Jupiter was a fortress city and military city boasting the strongest defenses of all the cities in the empire.

This was because there was a sturdy triple-layered wall in front and a natural cliff that was difficult to climb behind.

Due to the geographical characteristics of Jupiter which made it difficult to approach from both the front and the back the continental alliance forces had no choice but to build a base far from the castle.

Helen Draker who was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces was an experienced and strong knight.

The problem was that the Continental Alliance was full of conflicts of interest between countries and families.

Although they had no choice but to send horsemen by treaty and set up camp in front of Jupiter they did not properly follow the orders of Helen the commander-in-chief.

They had established their own bases in different areas and were keeping an eye on the moods of other riders without any intention of moving actively.

Helen the commander-in-chief was well aware of the current situation and was unable to make any rash moves.

This was because if you were not careful it could have been like hitting a rock with an egg.

Helen sighed deeply as she looked at the map depicting the topographical features of the Jupiter region inside the barracks.

‘The longer the war goes on the more disadvantageous it is for us.’

The Continental Alliance was a gathering place for riders from various affiliations.

The longer they dragged on the more the cause faded and the more the knights and soldiers grew tired.

If the Jupiter Army led by Castro Pollock chose to lay siege and hole up inside the castle the Continental Alliance forces which were having a hard time just holding out would likely gradually fall apart.

Moreover the Termo Fortress the final gateway to Rome was under concentrated attack by monsters.

If the fortress of Termo were to be breached while the Continental Allied Forces were tied down here it would certainly deal a major blow to Rome which was still in the process of being rebuilt.

‘We can’t just hold out like this. We have to find an opening to attack Jupiter.’

While Helen was pondering the Duke the leader of the Black Sword Knights entered the barracks.

    “Your Majesty the Duke.”

Although it was a bit sudden Helen politely greeted the Duke the eldest member of the family and a black knight.

After he sat down he looked at Helen and said.

“You must feel a lot of pressure because you have been given such an important mission.”

    “No it’s okay.”

Although she said no Helen’s face looked much more haggard than before.

The Duke said as he looked at Helen like that.

“The thing that worries me the most is the Red King of the Empire.”

Helen bit her lip without realizing it at the Duke’s words.

The forces that originally occupied Jupiter were Castro Pollock and his legions and the Breaker mercenary group of Jingguk.

However as the Continental Alliance forces were approaching Jupiter new news was delivered.

It was said that the Red King one of the black knights of the empire had joined Jupiter.

Although Duke Craban di Panion was the most famous black knight in the Roman Empire Count Vlad the Red was also a great figure who was talked about by many.

Besides his inaction he was especially famous for one thing: his cruelty.

Although his reputation for brutality has faded under the influence of Emperor Nero’s madness and the brutal massacre of Abel Drake Count Vlad’s brutality was clearly revealed during the war to invade the Eastern Continent 25 years ago.

The two beings that the warriors of the Murk Empire feared the most when they came to the Central Continent were the Overlord Arthur Draker and the Red King Count Vlad the Terrible.

This fear was especially evident in the nickname given to Count Vlad on the Eastern Continent.

    “Gashigong (公)….”

As Helen recited Count Vlad’s nickname the Duke’s expression also darkened.

“It is true that the morale of the entire Allied Forces fell as soon as word spread that the Red King had joined. Not only Count Vlad himself but also his family the Knights of Dracul of Basarab were famous for their cruelty and strength.”

It was said that even a mad emperor would not touch Wallachia which had an enemy king.

The fact that Count Vlad had joined Jupiter could not have been worse news for the Allied Forces.

Helen also nodded with a dark expression.

“Your Majesty the Duke is right. Jupiter is already a difficult place to conquer but with Count Vlad joining us the battle has become even more difficult.”

Helen had been working hard to give an objective assessment of her enemy Count Vlad the Great.

Although his notoriety was widely known the actual achievements he had made were not properly known as they were covered up by terrifying rumors.

So Helen began researching Count Vlad through the remaining records of the Eastern Continent War.

And the conclusion was that he was an expert in siege warfare.

25 years ago the Murk Empire army led by Saladin the great assassin invaded the Central Continent with terrifying momentum.

Saladin wanted to attack Midland the center of the central continent first but the nobles wanted to first invade the Roman Empire which boasted the largest territory and make a mark.

In the end against the will of the commander-in-chief Saladin the nobles led a large army and invaded the Roman Empire and the one who stopped them was Count Vlad the Great the enemy king.

The Wallachian castle ruled by his family Basarab was not very large for a county.

The Murk Empire’s army was planning to crush the Wallachian castle in one fell swoop and invade Rom.

However Murk’s powerful army of over a hundred thousand men was unable to overcome the Wallachian castle and suffered a crushing defeat there.

At the center of it all were Count Vlad the Red and the Knights of Dracul.

The area in front of the Wallachian castle was filled with the corpses of Murk warriors impaled on stakes and rivers of blood flowed.

Eventually the nobles of the Murk Empire were shocked by Count Vlad’s inaction and cruelty and had no choice but to retreat.

The public’s assessment of Count Vlad was based solely on his ruthless brutality but Helen analyzed the battle coolly.

‘It was a brutal and visually shocking way to defend the Wallachian castle which was at a disadvantage to the Mercury against an army of over a hundred thousand people.’

    Fear makes people hesitate.

Count Vlad knew that the people leading the hundred thousand soldiers were young nobles from the East with little experience in war so he used the most effective method to stop them.

Helen had concluded that Count Vlad was more of a wise general than was known.

‘I heard that Castro Pollock is a racist but he is popular with those who care about him. If a leader like him is also attached to him this fight will be quite difficult…’

At that moment Felix came rushing into the barracks.

    “Commander-in-Chief!”

Felix shouted to Helen in an urgent voice.

“The gates of Jupiter Castle are open!”

    * * *

Helen and the members of the Black Sword Knights rode out on horseback to check the open Jupiter Gate.

The castle was quite a distance away but since they were all Blue Knights or higher in power I was able to sharpen my eyes and observe the situation clearly.

In front of the Castle of Jupiter flag bearers were seen proudly marching forward waving flags with dragons on them.

Helen bit her lips hard at this.

    ‘The Knights of Dracula.’

If the Draker family was famous for being dragon slayers the Basarab family had a legend that they inherited the blood of dragons since ancient times.

It is said that during the Seven Kingdoms era there were many places that had dragons on their family crests but after the War of Liberation they all disappeared.

However to this day the only order that still uses the dragon emblem is the Knights of Dracul of House Basarab.

And they played a major role in the invasion of the Muruk Empire and gained fame in the Central Continent.

Behind the Knights of Dracula holding a banner with a dragon on it soldiers came out and started installing something in front of the castle.

It was a sharp iron stake shaped like a giant thorn.

The Thorn-shaped weapon that had terrified the Muruk Empire 25 years ago had reappeared in front of Jupiter Castle.

Duke standing next to Helen clicked his tongue at this.

“Is this an open attempt at restraint? It’s the first time I’ve seen someone who is defending the waters take the lead in provocation like that.”

Unlike Duke who didn’t take it seriously Helen’s expression was quite dark.

‘Other camps in the Allied Forces will also be seeing this.’

As she had expected the other Allied positions were also clearly watching the giant iron spikes being driven into the front of Jupiter Castle.

Although it is said to be largely forgotten now Count Vlad’s notoriety was a source of great fear not only to the Murk Empire but also to the people of the Central Continent.

Moreover this fear also created a kind of mystique about the enemy king.

In that situation seeing the huge iron bars being installed directly made the fear even greater.

It was while the soldiers were driving in dozens of iron spikes.

Someone was seen coming out of the gate on horseback.

    Purrrrrrr!

A knight armed with a red hersion was sitting on a huge horse that looked twice as big as the other warhorses.

Even from afar I could sense an ominous aura coming from the knight.

    ‘Enemy King.’

Helen realized that he was the infamous Count Vlad the Impaler.

Although it was impossible to see his appearance because he was wearing a helmet that covered his entire face it was difficult for anyone to deny that he was the enemy king.

For one of the main generals to appear in such an open space was also a display of tremendous confidence.

Knowing that well Helen couldn’t help but bite her lip.

Count Vlad sitting on his horse looked at the thorns stuck in the ground then turned his head and stared at Helen.

Despite the considerable distance between them Count Vlad met Helen’s eyes precisely.

But at that moment Count Vlad kicked the horse’s flank and began to run forward.

He picked up one of the huge iron spikes that was stuck in the ground with his hand.

He picked up a heavy iron bar that required several men to run and lift without any trouble.

And then he just threw it into the air.

The iron bar rose high into the sky with a cracking sound.

    Hooooooooooooo!

The thorns flew up with tremendous momentum and soon reached where Helen and the Black Sword Knights were.

The Black Sword Knights who had not expected that someone would throw iron spikes at them from that distance were startled and drew their swords.

However Helen who had been on guard since Count Vlad appeared had already taken out the Dragon Buster with sunken eyes.

As she unleashed her power the pieces attached to the Dragon Buster began to move.

    Clang! Clang!

The pieces surrounding the greatsword Dragon Buster spread out to the sides forming a sturdy shield.

The shield tightly bound together by Helen’s power that possessed magnetic power as a bloodline ability collided with the iron spike thrown by Count Vlad.

    Kwakwakwakwakwakwang!

There was a tremendous sound as if a huge explosion had occurred.

The iron bar that was blocked by Helen’s raised shield fell to the floor with its front end blunted.

    Kookung!

It was so heavy that the floor where the iron bar fell caved in.

    Clang! Clang!

This time the pieces of the Dragon Buster spontaneously attached themselves to Helen’s body and transformed into armor.

She glared at Count Vlad across the street.

An obvious provocation aimed at her the Commander-in-Chief.

Count Vlad had lured the Allied forces into attacking the castle.

    Helen clenched her teeth.

‘If we just back out here our morale will drop even further.’

However it was not possible to attack the strongly defended Jupiter Castle first without any preparation.

Helen the commander-in-chief was at a loss as to how to react to Count Vlad’s sudden provocation.

This was a situation where numerous heads of families were watching.

    But then it happened.

    “Commander-in-Chief.”

The Northern Grand Duchess Alicia Himonas led the Northern Knights and approached Helen.

    “grandee.”

Helen was nervous about what Alicia would say when she suddenly approached her with a group of knights and a rather strong presence.

If she tired of waiting for the tedious and protracted war were to be the first to declare her defection morale would surely hit rock bottom. Furthermore her position as a supporter of the North would also be put in an awkward position.

Alicia came closer and picked up the iron thorn that had fallen on the floor.

Then he looked at Helen and said.

“They sent me a greeting. May I reply on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief?”
