    Episode 56

    ‘I will bring down Drake.’

Zeke looked into Abel’s eyes to figure out his intentions.

    Clear crimson eyes.

Zeke could feel the power of destruction and madness contained within it.

‘Did you come here to persuade me because you found out I was going to Sister Kali?’

Although Zeke’s power was weak at the moment after graduating from Valhalla and entering the family as a full-fledged knight he would be able to quickly approach the center of power as a pureblood Awakened.

Moreover since Zeke was the official disciple of the Duke who was a black knight if he received his support he could even bring the Duke into his camp.

So Zig’s potential value was greater than expected.

When Zeke remained silent Abel took another sip of wine and opened his mouth.

“Do you not believe what I am saying?”

Zeke decided to try to match Abel’s words to get a better idea of his intentions.

“I don’t know how to take it when you say you’re destroying the family line.”

At those words Abel looked at Zeke and smiled.

“I don’t know about the other brothers but I thought you Zeke would understand what I’m saying.”

He said looking into Zeke’s eyes.

“You smell like me. I should say that the smell of blood and battle is thick on you. Perhaps it is because you have been inhaled the blood of the dragon slayer the most.”

‘That damn dragon slayer’s blood song.’

Zeke decided to shake Abel a little more.

“Destroying the family… Is that why you have such close ties with the empire?”

Abel paused for a moment at Zeke’s words that came in with a bang.

    He nodded and answered immediately.

“I can’t say no. Have you ever been to the Zeke Empire?”

    Zeke shook his head.

In my previous life I had infiltrated several cities on missions but I had never been there in this life.

Abel slowly opened his mouth in response to Zeke’s reaction.

“Many people say that Atlas is the best city in the Central Continent but I think differently.”

    He continued speaking slowly.

“Atlas is ultimately just a city with its own autonomy. Without the support of the Drakes it would be a sandcastle that would collapse at any moment. But the Empire is different.”

    “What do you mean?”

“Everywhere in the empire is connected to the capital Rom. The empire is constantly building roads. They are trying to create a road that will cut through the central continent connect to the northern continent above the southern continent below and even further to the eastern continent.”

“Is there any reason why we have to keep making roads like that?”

“Zeke that is the invisible power of the Empire. Unifying the continent as one. This continent has always been suffering because the languages cultures and resources are different. The Empire can connect all of these by roads and make them one. And if that happens the world will surely become a better place than it is now.”

Zeke said as he watched Abel unfold his long-winded imperial theory.

“That’s something the emperor of the empire would say.”

Abel’s eyes changed for a moment at Zeke’s words.

It was a brief moment but Zeke instinctively caught it and realized something was up.

‘Cain who had the surname Constantine. His middle name was Siemens. Abel has Siemens as his maternal relative and is receiving support from them. There must be a connection between Abel and the Siemens Empire.’

If so it makes some sense why Abel offered Draker up to the Empire.

Abel looked at Zeke and said.

“Zigg I want to give the titles and rewards that great talents deserve. You deserve to have the brightest sword and jewels near me.”

One person underground ten thousand people above ground.

He promised that if he came to his camp he would be given a powerful second-in-command position.

Zeke saw Abel’s eyes filled with ambition.

It was a look of madness befitting the one who had thrown the continent into the maelstrom of war.

Zeke remembered the times of chaos and war that Abel had created in his previous life.

So he opened his mouth slowly.

“I’m sorry but I don’t think I can fit in there.”

He wanted to be the strongest man on the continent not a massacre.

Zeke stood up from his seat.

    Then Abel said to Zeke.

“Are you sure you won’t regret it?”

Zeke turned his head and answered Abel.

    “I don’t think I’ll regret it much.”

Zeke immediately left Abel and came out of the room first.

Abel left alone at the table turned his head and drank wine while looking at the night view outside.

And after a while William came in.

He was surprised to see Abel alone.

“Why are you alone? Where’s Zeke?”

Then Abel looked at William and said

“He said he would take a different path from me.”

At that moment the wine glass Abel was holding suddenly became cloudy and completely melted flowing down onto the table.

Hot molten glass fell to the floor burning the table.

    Abel said clenching his fist.

“William I think it would be better to nip this in the bud before it’s too late.”

Today was Abel’s last chance to give Zeke a chance.

Abel turned his head and looked at the lofty night view of Atlas.

It was a night when the moonlight shone especially sadly.

    * * *

Upon returning to Atlas Zeke immediately prepared for the new semester in Valhalla.

Since Valhalla only lasts one semester a year I’m already in my second year.

Unlike other students who usually graduate in five years Zeke was already preparing for early graduation at the age of seventeen.

Since he had already been promoted to a Blue Knight and was also a full-fledged Drake Knight there was no reason why he couldn’t take the required credits.

I applied for an unprecedented early graduation and was immediately contacted by the president for an interview.

Zeke went to see President Flaubert for the first time in a long time.

But in front of the president’s office there were two other people besides just Zick.

    “Hey! Bro!”

One of them was Diego whom I knew well.

But the other one was someone I was seeing for the first time.

    ‘Who is it?’

He was a tall thin young man with a listless look with dark freckles around his eyes.

Zeke and Diego two young men who looked listless sat side by side in front of Flaubert.

    Flaubert greeted them cheerfully.

“It’s been a while. Zeke Diego and Aster.”

Zique was inwardly surprised by Flaubert’s words.

‘Aster? Could it be Aster Aladov the knight of welcome?’

There was a reason why Zeke was so surprised.

Among the five-star knights who displayed outstanding skills in the 3rd continental war that occurred in his previous life Aster Aladov the knight of illusion had no personal information disclosed except that he was from Valhalla.

His whereabouts after graduating from Valhalla were not revealed and it was only known that he was a member of the Imperial Army.

I never expected him to look so weak since he always wears full plate armor and a helmet.

It was only natural that he was surprised to see Aster who he had only ever thought of as a strong knight sobbing and holding his head in front of the president.

“Ugh I’m sorry President. I haven’t slept properly for a week.”

“Oh that chronic disease still persists I guess.”

    That’s right.

Aster Aladov suffered from severe insomnia.

Because he was so sensitive and his characteristic perfectionism made him even more neurotic he suffered from insomnia to the point where he couldn’t keep up with his studies.

Diego made loud gestures while looking at Aster like that.

“Hey bro! When you can’t sleep listen to music and you’ll fall asleep right away!”

Then Aster pressed his temple and said.

“Ugh hey. Sorry my head is ringing so could you speak more quietly?”

The boisterous Diego and Aster seemed like they wouldn’t get along.

Zeke looked at Aster who was suffering from insomnia with a pitiful expression.

‘Insomnia. I suffered from it in my past life. I had nightmares all the time because of that damn Don Juan.’

Knowing the suffering of insomnia he could somewhat sympathize with Aster’s situation.

At that moment a good idea crossed Zeke’s mind.

‘Perhaps this could be a way to attract Aster.’

Then Flaubert spoke to the three of them.

“The reason I called you all together is because all three of you applied for special early graduation at the same time.”

Diego who was usually just a brat and Aster who seemed weak were actually two of the most talented people in Valhalla.

Diego wanted to focus more on his music career and Aster who would not be able to properly participate in classes due to insomnia anyway applied for a special early graduation with the intention of graduating quickly.

Flaubert said tapping his fingers on the desk.

“Diego and Aster have completed all the required courses up to the third year and Zeke said he will earn extra credits through written exams.”

    Zeke nodded.

“Yes sir. I want to graduate as soon as possible and take on the duties of the family.”

Zeke was a polite student who only said what Flaubert wanted to hear.

The president nodded and spoke to the three students across from him.

“Okay. I talked to other professors and there was no disagreement about having all three take the special early graduation exam. The problem is how to evaluate it…”

He took a letter out of his desk.

“This is a cooperation document from Delphos.”

Zeke sensed what the president was trying to say.

‘So they’re going to put us on a real mission and give us a graduation evaluation.’

In fact the Valhalla graduating class participated in other kingdoms’ knight orders as trainee knights and carried out missions.

Moreover students who performed well there were often recruited directly into that order after graduation.

This is because most of the places that formed alliances with Valhalla were the knights of the Central Kingdom who had a high reputation.

However although Delphos was one of the five major kingdoms of the Central Continent it was unique in that the magic order held more power within the kingdom than the knight order due to its tradition as a leading country in magic.

Thanks to this the Knights’ life had the advantage of being somewhat more relaxed but in terms of reputation it was not a place preferred by Valhalla students.

    Flaubert opened his mouth slowly.

“Have you ever heard of the Black Yaksha?”

    Zeke nodded at those words.

“I know you are a Continentaler of lawless origins.”

“Gun Zeke is also well-informed on continental news. I heard that the Black Yacha has currently absorbed a group of mercenaries from the central continent and has settled in the Delphos area.”

The outlaws who rolled in from the border areas were those who had learned the Aura in a different way than the knights of the central continent.

Although it wasn’t a proper Auror training method it was effective in real combat because it mainly consisted of techniques specialized for killing.

It wasn’t for nothing that the cartels paid a lot of money to bring in outlaws.

    Zeke said looking at Flaubert.

“Are you cooperating with the Delphos Knights to subdue the Black Yacha group?”

    Flaubert nodded.

“Most of them will be taken by the Delphos Knights and Magicians but I would like to request a knight with the rank of Purple or higher.”

I thought I knew what was going on without even looking at it since a knight order the size of Delphos had requested a purple-ranked knight.

‘The battle mages will mostly handle it and the knights will clean up after themselves.’

It seemed like it would be ambiguous to send the graduates but it was also impossible to not send them at all so it seemed like it would be better to include them as a special graduation exam mission.

    Flaubert spoke to three people.

“If you participate in the mission and return safely I will consider you as having passed the first test.”

“How many rounds of testing are there in total?”

“There are three rounds in total. After the first round the second and third rounds will be spent carrying out missions with the students preparing to graduate.”

It seemed like it meant to fill in the missing class times with practical experience.

    Zeke nodded.

    “I will participate President.”

Diego and Aster also expressed their intention to participate.

“Okay. The departure is in a week so prepare well. Especially Mr. Zeke this will be your first official mission so prepare thoroughly.”

    “All right.”

In reality Zig was the dead water among the dead water that had been rolling around on the battlefield but Flaubert had no way of knowing.

After leaving the president’s office Zeke sent Diego away who asked to go to the club room together to play a song and then approached Aster.

    “Aster Aladov.”

At Zeke’s call Aster looked at him with a blank hazy look in his eyes.

“Oh my head. Huh? Are you talking about me?”

The blank look in his eyes and the pale appearance made it impossible to think of a Knight of Welcome one of the Five Star Knights.

    Zeke approached Aster and said.

“Do you need any medication for insomnia?”

He whispered with a sly smile.

“I have some good medicine for you.”
