A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 540
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 540
The relationship between the Central Continent and the Northern Continent was ambiguous to say the least.
Just by looking at the reaction of the Delphos magicians who were stirring up a match at the appearance of the Northern Knights one could tell what the relationship between the two continents was like.
In such a situation it was actually surprising that Zeke the guardian knight of the central continent’s central Drake helped Himonas so much without any compensation.
If Zeke hadn’t saved Himonas from the attack by the demons Alicia would have suspected that he had other intentions.
But he really wanted to help Himonas.
Zeke had to suppress his emotions again as he looked at Alicia who was looking at him with shining blue eyes.
He spoke in a calm voice.
“The Grand Duke must become stronger in order to fight against the demons. The invasion of the Demon World will eventually become a problem for the entire phenomenal world so let’s prepare in advance.”
At Zeke’s words Alicia looked into his eyes without saying anything.
Then after a while he slowly opened his mouth.
“That’s the first time you’ve lied to me Zeke Draker.”
She had caught the slight trembling of his eyes that was not completely obscured by his feelings for Alicia.
Alicia leaned closer to Zeke.
Her face was pressed against Zeke’s.
“Are you hiding something from me?”
At those words Zigg was momentarily unable to respond.
Whenever I was near her memories of my past life came flooding back as if they had happened yesterday.
Memories of spending nights hugging each other in a cave to survive the bitter cold in their previous lives came flooding back to me as did memories of him wrapping his arms around her delicate shoulders as she shed tears in anguish over the deaths of her comrades.
Whenever I looked into her blue eyes memories of the past kept coming back to me.
It was the eyes that I had missed the most in my past life and in my new life.
I met many people I had connections with in my past life and there were many cases where I made new connections after returning but I didn’t feel the same feelings toward them as I did with Alicia.
It was only after his regression that Zeke realized it.
That he had been in love with Alicia for a long time.
However the reason he couldn’t go meet Alicia right away was because he didn’t have the confidence to face the Alicia of the past who was not the one with whom he shared many memories.
In a strict sense if the Alicia of the past had disappeared and only the Alicia who had forgotten everything remained there was a sense of anxiety that the woman he had loved had disappeared forever.

But Zeke could clearly feel that the Alicia in front of him was his past self.
Even though she doesn’t share the memories she has her essence hasn’t changed at all.
It was still rough and rugged yet loving and fragile.
Every time Zeke realized that the Alicia he had loved and missed in the past and the Alicia he was now were the same being he felt an uncontrollable emotion.
But that didn’t mean he could tell her what had happened and the whole truth.
The past was the past and now a new life was beginning so Zeke wanted to have a different relationship with Alicia than before.
He gathered his thoughts looked at her and said.
“Do you want to know what the real truth is Your Highness?”
At Zeke’s words Alicia looked deeply into his eyes.
Then soon she turned her head first.
“…Somehow you have a look in your eyes that makes it seem like you shouldn’t hear the truth.”
“I do not intend to harm the Grand Duke or the North. Rather I ask for their help.”
Alicia shrugged at Zeke’s words and picked up the bottle of liquor in front of her again.
She took a sip and handed the entire bottle to Zeke.
Like the knights of the North Zeke also drank the poison bottle whole.
As Alicia put the bottle down she looked at Zeke again and asked.
“Zeke Draker why do you want to save this world? Because you are the Knight of Salvation?”
It was said in the Central Continent that a knight’s nickname determined his fate.
Some say that Zeke inherited the destiny to save the world like the legendary King of Heroes or the Dragon Slayer Terracan Draker who was given the nickname of the Knight of Salvation.
Zeke slowly opened his mouth to answer Alicia’s question.
“Save the world.”
He was unable to readily answer Alicia’s question.
He simply used his willpower to go back in time with the power of the Elder Dragon in order to reject the miserable death he suffered in his previous life.
What he truly wanted was not to save the world.
He said looking at Alicia.
“I’ve never thought about saving the world. What I’ve always wanted was a personal desire. To be free.”
One day Zeke remembered what Aslan the Cross Sword had said.
He said that his dream was to abandon everything and become a wandering knight wandering aimlessly saving the weak and slaying monsters.
I thought it was just a romantic story but the freedom that Zeke ultimately dreams of was also along similar lines.
Zeke wanted to live a life where he could wander freely in a world where everything was peaceful.
Alicia nodded after hearing Zeke’s words.
“It’s about being free. It’s much better than talking about salvation or heroes without any use.”
She slowly got up.
Then he picked up the Nang’a sword that had been leaning against one side and spoke to Zig.
“It’s hard for me to judge how much of what you say is true. But I think you don’t have any malicious intentions.”
She said this while carrying the Nang’a sword on her back.
“And aside from all that I am more than happy to exterminate those damned demons who threaten my freedom in the North. In that sense I will meet with the Sword King as you suggested and hone my power.”

The proud king of the North decided to accept Zeke’s opinion.
Zeke nodded his head while looking at Alicia like that.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude for Your Majesty’s cooperation and consideration.”
She gave the Northern greeting of raising her hand and bowing her head while pressing it to her heart.
At the same time he smiled brightly with shining blue eyes.
“Me too. Let’s meet again. Knight of Salvation no Knight of Freedom.”
Alicia opened the office door and went out.
Zeke stared blankly at the spot where Alicia’s warmth still lingered then shook his head.
He shook off all the memories of Alicia’s past and the traces of those feelings that he had been holding in his head.
‘The past is the past. Now is the time to move on.’
Zeke raised his head again and his eyes sparkled with light.

Kookookookook!
After the creation of the Continental Alliance and the agreement advances began from various parts of the central continent to Jupiter located in the southern part of the empire.
They decided to rendezvous at Heli a border area between the Midlands and the Empire and head south past the fortress of Thermo towards Jupiter.
After the decision the troops of the Central Continent began to gather in Heli one after another.
At the center of it all was Helen Draker the Draker’s guardian knight and renowned by the nickname of the Steel Knight.
She was to become the Commander-in-Chief leading not only the Knights of Draker but the entire Allied Forces.
While Helen led the Allied forces to strike Jupiter Zeke prepared to strike the Siemens’ underground labyrinth where the Abyss was hiding.
Zeke and his spy unit took up positions in the ruins of a castle not far from the underground labyrinth and prepared to infiltrate.
First Boris planned the infiltration commanding the members of Six and Salmak’s assassins.
Because it was a labyrinth hidden underground there were limited ways to infiltrate it and above all because it was the headquarters of the Abyss there was no way of knowing what kind of test subjects and monsters there might be.
Boris and Shadia devised an infiltration plan using various methods and then approached Zeke to report the plan.
“I think we’ll have to blow this place up.”
The standard way to infiltrate an intelligence unit is to do so covertly.
But Boris turned the principles of such espionage activities on their head.
Zeke looked at Boris and Shadia and asked.
“Is there a reason you planned it that way when you could have made a fuss and made them run away?”
Boris hesitated over Zeke’s question then opened his mouth.
“No matter how hard I look I can’t find a route to get here without a trace.”
The underground labyrinth that Siemens had kept hidden for a long time was in itself a solid fortress.
Moreover not only the warlocks of the Abyss but also the main forces held by Siemens and Emperor Nero’s secret forces remained here so the possibility of being discovered by them the moment they infiltrated was very high.
Boris said clenching his fists.
“If it’s impossible to infiltrate without a trace it might be better to make a lot of noise and provoke them to erase any trace of infiltration.”
No matter what method you use you’ll be caught by them before long.
In that case it would be better to explode the outside to lure their forces and disperse them then create an opening and target the gap.
After hearing Boris’s words Zeke turned his head and looked at Shadia.
“Shadia do you agree with Boris’ opinion?”
At those words Shadia also pursed her lips and nodded.
“It’s embarrassing to say this as a sniper but I agree with Captain Boris. In general the military is also a place where there are people so they need basic necessities. The snipers usually look for gaps that arise there. However… I couldn’t find any gaps like that with them.”
Zeke nodded after hearing Shadia’s words.
Because it was an underground labyrinth guarded by monsters rather than humans it seemed impossible to infiltrate it through normal means.
Zeke looked over the infiltration plan report they had brought and stood up.
“Let’s do as you say except for one thing.”
Zeke continued setting the report down on the table.
“I’ll shake them up myself not with bombs.”

Kwakwakwakwakwakwang!
A huge explosion occurred in the middle of a desolate wasteland where nothing seemed to exist.
Kookookookookook!
In an instant the floor split open and mounds of dirt rose up from the ground with an explosion.
Then something huge rose up from between the piles of dirt.
Kaaaaaaah!
A giant worm with horrible tentacles and sharp hooks rose from the cracked ground writhing and twisting.
Kaaaaaaaaaah!
Green acidic liquid flowed out of the giant insect’s mouth and sprayed everywhere.
Cheeeeeeek―
A foul odor rose from the ground touched by the green acid.
The scorpions and lizards roaming the wasteland would boil over as soon as they touched the poison then melt away and turn into poison.
The wasteland was instantly transformed into a land of death filled with poisonous smoke.
At that moment the surface of the wasteland where there was nothing began to shake and a black hole appeared in the ground.
From within the hole knights in black armor came up in ranks.
Chuck! Chuck! Chuck! Chuck!
The black knights who had climbed onto the wasteland without a single mistake began patrolling the surrounding area while maintaining their formation unaffected by the poisonous dance.
As soon as they appeared demons resembling eagles appeared from the sky and began to glide down to capture any suspicious movements.
It seemed like they were looking for the cause of the sudden explosion.
As the Black Knights searched for suspicious traces in the smoke something came into view.
Tsk tsk tsk tsk―
Zeke was standing on a hill in the wasteland holding Levatein his black shadow wrapped around him like a cloak.
Not only the Black Knights but also the demons in the sky saw the sight and transmitted it to the Black Magicians through their prepared magic.
The black knights drew their swords and rushed up the hill where Zeke was.
Choaaaaaaah!
Sword strikes filled with speculation poured down on Zig from all directions.
The speculation had the power to neutralize the aura so it was impossible for a normal knight to block it from the front.
But Zeke was not an ordinary knight who used auras.
Kwakwakwakwa!
The shadow that had been wrapping around Zeke’s body rose up and blocked all of the Black Knights’ sword strikes.
Zeke who had neutralized all of the Black Knights’ attacks with Shadow Armor picked up Levatein.
“Dragon killing technique. Black sword technique. Black wind.”
A huge black wind rose from his sword and swallowed up the Black Knights in an instant.
