A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 539
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 539
Alicia’s expression distorted at Zeke’s words.
“It’s a mess? It’s a mess….”
Alicia’s hand which was holding the Nang’a sword tightly gained strength.
If the sword she was holding was a normal sword and not the Nang’a Sword made from the tooth of the Wolf King Fenrir it would have been completely crushed by the power of the great history.
Zeke said while looking at Alicia like that.
“The power of great history that the Grand Duke possesses is certainly tremendous but that is all.”
He took a deep breath and continued.
“During battles he only pushes forward with the power of great history and is unable to properly demonstrate his abilities as a knight.”
His cold voice struck Alyssa’s ears.
Alicia glared at Zeke fiercely.
Then he slowly raised the Nang’a Sword.
“One blow is worth a thousand words.”
Zeke slowly got up from his seat as he looked at Alicia like that.
But when he didn’t actually draw his sword Alicia frowned.
“Are you trying to insult me Zeke Draker?”
“I just want to prove my point.”
Alicia clenched her teeth at Zeke’s words.
Then he ran straight towards Zeke.
Kookookookook!
Alicia who had unleashed the power of great history moved as light as a feather even while holding a greatsword.
Alicia quickly closed the distance between them and swung her Nang’a Sword at Zeke tearing through the air.
Wheeeeeek―
In that moment Zig took a small step back and dodged the Nang’a sword with a very small gap.
Alicia immediately turned towards the direction of the Nang’a Sword as if she had known this would happen.
Knights who usually wield greatswords have the disadvantage that they can only make linear attacks because they cannot overcome the weight of the sword no matter how much aura they use.

But Alicia’s strength was enough to overcome even those shortcomings.
The Nang’a sword suddenly changed direction and fell from above.
If it were a normal knight he would have been surprised by the sudden sword swing but Zeke showed no such signs.
This time too he moved his steps a little to avoid the Nang’a Sword.
Then he stepped forward and kicked Alicia’s thigh with his foot.
Kuuung!
It was just a kick but it sounded like an explosion.
Alicia was taken aback by Zeke’s attack which broke through the power of the Great History.
“Ugh!”
She felt a dull pain in her thigh which caused her to lose her balance for a moment.
At that moment Zeke’s hand touched Alicia’s neck.
In an instant cold sweat ran down Alicia’s forehead as she was subdued by Zeke.
Since it was a light match it wouldn’t turn out like this in a real fight but it was clear that there was a big gap in the two’s martial arts skills.
Zeke lowered his hand from Alicia’s neck and stepped back.
“Do you understand what I said Your Highness?”
Alicia put down her sword and furrowed her brow in resentment.
In the North no one could parry or dodge her sword.
But Zeke made light of it so I had no choice but to admit it.
She put the Nang’a sword back in its scabbard and slumped down on her seat.
Then he picked up the bottle of liquor he had brought and drank it in gulps.
“Phew.”
She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and then looked at Zeke and said.
“Fenrir’s will does not rest on women.”
As Zeke just looked at her with an indifferent expression Alicia continued speaking with a hardened face.
“These are the words my father the late Grand Duke of the North left to me before he died. Damn it.”
Zeke had heard this too.
It is said that Alicia’s father the former Northern Grand Duke was displeased that the Himonas bloodline ability was infused into Alicia a woman.
His reaction was quite unusual in the North where there was little discrimination between women and men.
Zeke said looking at Alicia.
“That’s just nonsense.”
Alicia continued her speech in a self-mocking tone.
“That pathetic gentleman saw his dead mother in me. He didn’t want to acknowledge that his mother was a stronger and more accomplished knight than he was. He kept doing that shit until he died proving what a fool he was.”
Alicia’s mother was the greatest warrior of the North.
Although she was not a daughter of high status Alicia’s father the former Northern Duke married her to ensure a stronger bloodline.
This is because although he inherited the bloodline of Himonas he was unable to properly demonstrate the power of great history.
The previous Grand Duke had a great inferiority complex towards his wife Alicia’s mother who was an excellent warrior.
From birth Alicia resembled her mother more than her father.

Even at a young age he displayed outstanding talent as a warrior and above all he was born with great historical powers so powerful that he could be called the incarnation of the Wolf King.
The previous Northern Grand Duke felt a strong jealousy towards his blessed daughter who did not resemble him and tried to have other concubines to father sons.
But no other children were born after Alicia and she was left with no choice but to become the sole successor.
However the former Grand Duke did not acknowledge her until the moment of his death.
‘The last words of the former Northern Duke remained a curse and tormented Alicia for a long time.’
In her previous life Alicia had stood back to back with Zeke during the final war and had let out the story that had been entangled in her heart.
In the end in that war Zeke had to leave the North for another mission and Alicia left alone committed suicide while fighting off the enemies meeting her end.
In the end this story remained a secret known only to Alicia and Zeke.
As the saying goes words have spiritual power and if they contain strong resentment the words themselves tend to turn into curses.
The pathetic words left by the former Northern Grand Duke before he died were engraved in Alicia’s heart and became a chain that prevented her from breaking free from her own limitations.
That’s why Alicia couldn’t use her power beyond her capabilities and was confined to the power of the great history.
Zeke thought back to Alicia from his past life.
‘If only she could unleash all her power…’
At some point the foolish thought that if that had been the case she would not have had to take her own life in the war would not leave Zeke’s mind.
That’s why Zeke wanted to break her limits so that she wouldn’t create another tragedy and shake off her foolishness from back then.
Zeke said looking at Alicia.
“Your Majesty listen carefully to what I am about to say.”
He said in a cold voice.
“How long are you going to lock yourself up in that kind of nonsense?”
Alicia’s expression changed strangely at Zeke’s words.
“It’s true that my father was a man who talked nonsense but I didn’t know that someone would say that openly in front of me.”
“It is a luxury to feel pity for a person who is suffering from such an inferiority complex. Could it be that the Grand Duke feels such pity just because he is related by blood?”
Alicia was momentarily silent at those words.
She and the former Northern Duke were never a good father-daughter relationship.
Alicia had already surpassed her father’s powers as a child.
The previous Northern Duke was jealous of Alicia for taking away Fenrir’s power and as a result her mother also became a victim of his jealousy.
Alicia was furious at her father’s unfair attitude.
But every time that happened her mother would look at Alicia and say
My father said he was a poor man.
Because of what her mother had said she couldn’t completely ignore her father so his words lingered in her mind.
It was only after hearing Zeke’s words that Alicia realized that she felt not only anger but also pity for her dead father.
“…Zeke Draker you seem to know me better than I know myself.”
In her previous life it was Zeke who had heard and shared Alicia’s deepest feelings more than anyone else.
That’s why Zeke wanted to break free from the complicated curse that was entangled in Alicia’s heart.
He looked at Alicia and spoke in a firm voice.
“Let me say it again. Your Highness you are a more powerful and beautiful knight than anyone else. The power of great history? That is nothing. The Archduke has the potential to surpass it. So….”
After a brief pause he opened his mouth again.
“Believe in yourself.”
Words I wanted to say to her transcending my past life.
Zeke was finally able to tell Alicia those words.
Alicia looked at Zeke with her piercing blue eyes.
“Zeke Draker when I look at you… I don’t know why but I feel familiar. Why is that?”
Zeke suppressed the turbulent emotions as he looked into Alicia’s eyes which were completely unchanged from their previous lives.
He wanted to tell her that he had come back from a past life and that he had had a long relationship with her before that.
But that couldn’t be done.
The past was the past and the present was the present.
A new life different from the past was unfolding before Alicia.
There was no need to bring up the past and confuse her.
‘Just help her live her life to the fullest. Anything more than that would only be detrimental.’
Zeke tried to suppress his emotions and spoke in his usual voice.
“It might be because it’s a more common impression than I thought.”
“…I don’t think that’s the case.”
“Anyway that’s not what’s important.”
Zeke took a quick look around the office to lighten the mood and then changed the subject.
“There is something confidential that I haven’t told the Continental Alliance but I would like the Archduke to know.”
“Zeke said lowering his voice.
“Behind Castro Pollock’s army occupying Jupiter is the dark magic group Narak. And the purpose of Narak is to bring down the Demon King.”
Alicia nodded leaning back against the sofa.
“Yeah I already know that.”
“The problem is that this isn’t the end.”
Zeke continued speaking slowly.
“With the advent of the Demon King the lords of the Demon World are attempting to summon the Demon World into the phenomenal world.”
Alicia’s eyes widened at Zeke’s words.
“From the demon world to the phenomenal world?”
“If that happens the phenomenal world will become a living hell and humans will become their slaves.”
Alicia clenched her teeth and clenched her fists.
“You damn devil bastards. As soon as you crawl out of the demon realm I’ll tear your limbs off and feed you to the wolves.”
It was a murderous reaction befitting his nickname the Wolf of the North.
Zeke said calming Alicia down.
“If the Demon Lords appear in the world it will be difficult to stop them with human power. We need to prepare to stop them.”
“Ready? What kind of preparation?”
Zeke pointed to Alicia’s sword leaning next to him.
“As I said before the power of the Grand Duke is not just the power of the Great History itself. You must raise your abilities as a knight to the level where you can completely release the power of the Wolf King contained in the Nanga Sword Fenrir. Only then can you fight against the demons that descend upon the world.”
Alicia in her previous life was unable to fully draw out the power of the Wolf King Fenrir.
Because the war broke out before she could fully grow and because of the spell embedded in her mind she never had the luxury of being able to properly exert her power.
But now there was plenty of time to prepare for it.
Zeke said looking at Alicia.
“We need someone who can awaken the potential of the Grand Duke.”
Alicia frowned at those words.
“Are you telling me to train in swordsmanship like the apprentice knights?”
Zeke nodded.
“You can learn something more basic than swordsmanship. I know that the Archduke has such strong natural strength that he surpasses the basic training that ordinary knights have undergone. It’s the influence of that that is holding him back now.”
Alicia frowned at Zeke’s words but agreed to some extent.
Alicia was troubled by her skills not growing any further and didn’t know how to move forward.
But just now through sparring I realized my own shortcomings and that I needed more strength to stand up to the Demons.
Zeke said as he looked at Alicia who was worried.
“Go see Sword King Bernas. He will tell you how to fully release Fenrir’s power.”
The meeting with Sword King Bernas was an arrangement that Zeke had prepared for Alicia beforehand.
If Fenrir’s power could be fully released Alicia would gain enough strength to deal with the fallen constellation.
Alicia slowly opened her mouth as she looked at Zig.
“Zeke Draker.”
She continued with a strange expression.
“Why are you trying so hard to help me?”
