A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 502
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 502
Doo doo doo doo!
Zik was riding in a carriage towards the kingdom of Thebes.
And opposite him were two men standing stiffly.
It was Rick a member of the Dark Spirits and the wizard Arin.
Zephric Solmar a colleague and lover and Arin a fire wizard were riding in a carriage with Zeke on their way to the Solmar family in the Kingdom of Thebea.
Zeke said looking at Rick and Arin who were stiff.
“Relax. I feel suffocated just watching.”
At those words Rick spoke with his back still straight.
“Was I nervous? Haha.”
Arin sitting next to Rick looked similar as she tried to keep her composure as she looked out the window.
“Is that the famous Lion King’s Tower from the Kingdom of Thebes?”
Karnak the capital of Thebes was home to ruins dating back thousands of years.
There was a saying that the city itself was a museum as Thebes had many famous relics that appeared in myths and legends.
Zeke spoke to Arin who was trying hard to react while looking at the ruins outside the window.
“Arin you don’t have to try so hard to do that.”
At Zeke’s words Arin shut her mouth and took on a tense expression again.
Zeke said looking at Rick and Arin like that.
“No matter how strict the Solma family is they would never oppose the engagement of these two. I have taken on the role of guardian so don’t worry too much.”
Rick and Arin had come to the Kingdom of Thebes with Zeke to inform the Solmar family of their engagement.
The Kingdom of Thebes boasted the longest tradition in the Central Continent having existed for over a thousand years since the days of the Seven Kingdoms before the Holy Empire.
As such the prestigious noble families of Thebes placed great importance on tradition and procedure.
However Rick had run away from home and was wandering while taking the exam for the Solmar family a prestigious noble family in Thebes.
It was inevitable that Rick would look nervous as he returned to his family to have his engagement recognized.
Zeke was lost in thought as he watched the famous ruins of Thebes passing by outside the carriage.
This is because in the previous life all of these cultural heritages were destroyed in the horrific war on the continent.

‘If Abel regains his strength the same thing could happen again.’
That future had to be prevented somehow.
As the carriage drew closer to the Solmar household Rick and Arin’s faces grew paler.
But in fact the reason Zeke took Rick and Arin to find the Solmar family was to find traces of the Nostra Family boss who remained in the Kingdom of Thebea.
The traces of the Nostra Family boss that Jason found were connected to none other than the royal palace of the Kingdom of Thebes.
It was unclear whether this was a real teleportation to the palace or if this was also a trick to cause confusion.
Whatever it was it was necessary to go into the palace of the Kingdom of Thebes and check it out.
The problem was how to get into the palace of Thebes.
To enter the closed royal palace of Thebes one had to go through a cumbersome process the easiest of which was through the Solma family.
For generations the Solmar family has produced knights who served as the royal guard of the Theban royal palace and have held the position of Royal Guard which serves as the king’s closest advisor.
In the Kingdom of Thebes the most trusted family by the royal family was the Solma family.
Because of this those invited by the Solma family were able to enter and exit the Thebes palace relatively easily so Zeke went to visit them and search for traces of the Nostra family in the palace.
‘The cooperation of the Solma family is absolutely necessary to find traces of the bastard.’
Zeke planned to visit the Solmar household under the pretext of Rick and Arin’s engagement and then contact Jonathan Solmar Rick’s older brother.
Jonathan Solmar was a leader of the Western Resistance in his previous life fighting against the Empire and dying at the hands of Abel Draker.
In his previous life he was a renowned genius knight who was promoted to the rank of Blue Knight before he turned thirty but in this life he was overshadowed by Zeke’s fame and did not receive much attention.
Jonathan Solmar was currently leading the Solmar family as the head of the family replacing the head of the family who was acting as the Royal Guard.
Zeke planned to enter the palace of Thebes after contacting the head of the Solmar family the royal guard through Jonathan Solmar.
The problem was Rick who was supposed to be that point of contact.
‘I don’t know if I can speak properly when I go there frozen like that.’
Rick’s inferiority complex toward his older brother Jonathan Solmar who was famous for being a genius and his guilt over not being able to pass the family test were making him even more discouraged.
Zeke looked at Rick and Arin who were frozen and reviewed the plan in his head again.

“Welcome! Knight of Salvation! My Benefactor!”
As soon as he entered the Solma household a welcoming face greeted Zig.
It was none other than Aslan Solma the knight of the royal guard of Thebes who had been imprisoned in the labyrinth of Hoshgar’s mansion for thirty years who came out to welcome him in person.
Zeke greeted Aslan Solma.
“It’s been a long time Sir Aslan. You look much better.”
When Aslan was first discovered in the labyrinth he was nothing more than a skeleton with bones touching each other but now he boasted a physique that was so large that it belied his age.
When he first saw her at the entrance of the house Zeke didn’t even recognize her for a moment.
Aslan said with a hearty laugh.
“Poohaha! Once you come out of the labyrinth you can gain weight just by breathing. Come on let’s go in quickly. Since our benefactor has come to our family shouldn’t we treat him properly?”
With Aslan’s guidance Zeke was able to enter the house more easily than expected.
When we entered the Solma household a banquet for Zeke had already been prepared.
As befitting a noble family from Thebes a city with long traditions the banquet was prepared in an old-fashioned manner.
Aslan offered Zeke a seat at the banquet.
“Please sit over here.”

At those words Zeke shook his head at Aslan.
“I’m sorry Lord Aslan but I am not the star of today’s event.”
He said pushing Rick and Arin forward.
“I am here today as the engagement guardian for two people. Jeffric Solmar and Arin Summer.”
Aslan was surprised by Zeke’s words and only then did he look at Rick properly.
“Oh my God! My nephew Jeffrick! I finally get to see you!”
This was Rick’s first time seeing Aslan as he was born after Aslan was trapped in the Labyrinth.
Rick bowed politely toward Aslan.
“Greetings to your uncle.”
Aslan laughed heartily and hugged Rick.
“Okay okay. What good are all those manners between family members? It’s really nice to see you.”
He turned his head and looked at Arin.
Arin tried to greet him politely as expected with a nervous expression.
At that sight Aslan laughed heartily once again.
“Lady Arin it is an honor to meet you. My name is Aslan Solmar Jeffrick’s uncle.”
Aslan bowed politely to his subordinate Arin.
Then Arin was startled and greeted him flusteredly.
“Ah Arin Summer. Sir Aslan please lower your voice.”
At those words Aslan shook his head.
“You can’t call yourself a knight if you speak to a lady in a condescending manner when you first meet her. Come on let’s hurry and take our seats. I’ve prepared a delicious meal so I’ll have to ask the chef to make it even tastier.”
Aslan winked and joked Rick and Arin’s tense expressions relaxed a little.
Soon the food arrived and Aslan naturally led the meal by telling his tale of heroism.
When the mood had somewhat warmed up Zeke quietly spoke to Aslan.
“Lord Aslan. In fact the reason I visited the Solmar family this time is not just because of the engagement ceremony.”
Aslan asked with a surprised expression at Zeke’s words.
“Is there any other reason?”
“I need an invitation to enter the palace of Thebes.”
Aslan’s expression became very serious as he heard Zeke’s words.
Aslan who had been a palace guard in the past knew that it was not easy for an outsider who was not a citizen of the kingdom to be invited to the palace.
He said looking at Zeke.
“May I ask why you are doing this?”
“The traces of the one I was chasing led to the palace of Thebes.”
Zeke spoke to Aslan lowering his voice even further.
“If we don’t catch him the entire continent may be engulfed in the horrors of battle.”
Although he didn’t know exactly what was going on Aslan who was quick-witted realized that it was no ordinary thing.
Aslan who had been thinking nodded.
“I believe there must be a reason for what my benefactor is doing. I the Knight of the Cross Sword Aslan will stake my honor on helping my benefactor.”
“Thank you Lord Aslan. First of all I would like to ask you to do this…”
That was when.
thud!
The door opened and someone appeared.
The attendants behind him stopped moving in their seats with tense expressions and straightened their bodies.
Rick who was eating also became tense and his expression hardened when he saw the man who appeared.
The one who showed up was none other than Jonathan Solmar Rick’s older brother and the head of the Solmar family.
Jonathan Solmar dressed in the traditional attire of the Theban kingdom had the appearance of a typical nobleman.
He was perfect with blond hair blue eyes a square jaw a grand physique and an intimidating presence.
Aslan waved his hand at Jonathan.
“Oh Sogaju! You finally came. Today is truly a happy day. Our nephew Jeffrick has a fiancée…”
“Jeffrick what on earth brought you here?”
Before Aslan could finish speaking Jonathan looked at Rick and spoke in a commanding voice.
Rick bowed his head to Jonathan his face pale.
“Brother Tongue. That’s….”
“The Solma family does not consider a weakling like you as a member of the family. If my father were here he would have struck you down immediately.”
He said glaring at Rick with a cold look.
“Out of brotherly love I will endure the punishment so get out now. And never set foot in Thebes again.”
Rick and Arin’s faces turned pale at Jonathan Solmar’s frosty words.
Aslan looked quite embarrassed by Jonathan’s verbal abuse.
At that moment Zeke who had been watching this got up from his seat and slowly opened his mouth.
“I didn’t know the Solma family treated guests like this.”
Jonathan Solmar turned his head and looked at Zeke.
“Only Solma can decide who will be Solma’s guest.”
“Are you saying that Aslan who welcomed me is not the true Solmar?”
Jonathan Solmar furrowed his brows at Zeke’s words.
Aslan Solma’s position upon returning to his family after thirty years was quite ambiguous.
Although Aslan’s characteristic friendliness allowed him to quickly adapt to the family despite his return after thirty years his exact status and position were still unclear.
That is why Jonathan Solmar the owner of the cattle treated Aslan as the eldest in the family and did not recognize his authority.
Aslan was also in a difficult situation.
Because I didn’t know that my nephew Jeffrick was in this situation.
Jonathan said as he looked at Zeke who was raising his voice towards him within the Solmar household.
“Just because you are Lord Aslan’s guest does not mean you are a guest of the Solmar family.”
“I see.”
Zeke glared at Jonathan and said.
“Then I guess it’s safe to say that the Solmar family did not welcome the visit of the Draker Guardian Knights and decided to expel them.”
Jonathan’s eyes wavered at Zeke’s words.
And only then did I realize the identity of the man in front of me.
‘Drake’s guardian knight and the youngest black knight. Knight of Salvation Zeke Drake…?’
He remembered that it was also Sieg Draker who had saved Aslan from the Labyrinth.
Zeke stood between Jeffrick and Arin and said.
“I officially visited the Solma family as the betrothal guardian of these two people. I must have even sent an official letter. Does the Solma family think that I am inadequate as the betrothal guardian?”
Jonathan was speechless.
In fact he had torn up the letter containing the news of Jeffrick’s engagement without even reading it properly and had not even been able to confirm who the guardian was.
Besides he knew the face of Zeke Draker but when he saw Jeffrick he got so angry that he made an uncharacteristic mistake.
Jonathan hesitated for a moment then lowered his head.
“Sir Zeke Draker please forgive my rudeness.”
