    Episode 48

Don Juan was not shaken even when he saw a knife held to the neck of the number two man.

He leisurely took out a new cigar put it in his mouth and lit it.

Don Juan blowing thick smoke from his mouth greeted Zeke.

“Nice to meet you Zeke Murray.”

He took a deep breath and said.

“It’s my birthday today but instead of a present you brought me a weapon.”

It was a gentle voice but there was a sharp power within it.

“Zeke said holding the knife closer to El Mencho’s neck.

    “I brought you a gift.”

    Then Don Juan’s eyebrows twitched.

“Are you saying that my beloved brother Joaquin is a traitor?”

Zeke grabbed El Mencho’s hair and shook it.

“Hey El Mencho. Why don’t you speak up?”

El Mencho who was held by the collar by Zeke’s hands was unable to move or speak properly due to the pressure he was putting on him.

It felt like the blade would cut off my neck if I moved even a little.

‘Fuck. What the hell is this all of a sudden?’

El Mencho kept winking at the hitmen across from him.

Use magic use aurors use assassination. Kill this damn intruder no matter what.

But the armed hitmen couldn’t move rashly.

After completely subduing El Mencho he stuck close behind him to minimize his attack range and create a blind spot in his vision leaving him with an opening to respond from anywhere within that area.

If a ranged attack was made it was clear that El Mencho would immediately use him as a shield to dodge.

‘That kid is definitely a pro. Where the hell did he come from?’

Even in a tense standoff Zeke calmly expressed his opinion without any hesitation.

“If you don’t tell me directly I won’t show you the evidence.”

As Zeke nodded Kay placed the materials she had prepared in advance in front of Don Juan.

Don Juan slowly reached out and looked through the documents Kay had placed before him.

    Soon his eyebrows twitched.

Then he slowly opened his mouth.

“Are the favela cartel guys the pirates of the South Seas?”

Those words stirred the McCain Cartel bosses.

No one likes southerners or South Sea pirates.

This was because they had been fighting against pirates and protecting their families since their ancestors a very long time ago.

In Don Juan’s case he had a particularly deep grudge because he had lost his family to pirates.

This was the background to the McCain Cartel he led which pursued the Favela Cartel to the end and completely destroyed it.

El Mencho’s expression changed when it was mentioned that the favela cartels were pirates.

Because he already knew the identity of the favela cartel.

Every time Don Juan handed over the documents his facial expression changed subtly and the expressions of the other bosses in the room also changed from moment to moment.

Don Juan looked over all the materials and raised his head.

“Zeke Murray. I have seen all the materials you gave me. But if you thought I would be suspicious of Joaquin who is like a brother to me you were very mistaken.”

    Then Zeke nodded.

“Of course. The boss is smart and also very suspicious.”

Don Juan felt strange at Zeke’s words.

It felt as if the other person knew me very well.

Then Zeke whispered something to El Mencho.

El Mencho’s face turned pale when he heard Zeke’s words.

    “How about that…!”

In his previous life Zeke held the secrets of all the cartel bosses.

El Mencho had an unknown young wife and daughter whom he loved more than his own life.

Zeke whispered that if he didn’t tell the truth he couldn’t guarantee the lives of his wife and daughter.

    He opened his mouth shivering.

    “Please. Just that…”

“Then why don’t you tell the truth? Then I swear to God that I won’t touch them.”

In the South an oath to God was an absolute covenant.

Even the most ruthless cartel members kept their oaths to God because if they broke their oaths they would not be saved even after death.

El Mencho raised his head trembling.

He looked at Don Juan and said:

“Boss. Zeke Murray’s statement is true.”

    Then Don Juan’s expression changed.

“Joaquin. Are you saying that you betrayed me?”

“That’s it… At first I didn’t know it was a favela cartel and I was dealing with it…”

Don Juan jumped up from his seat slammed his desk and shouted:

    “How dare you! Betray me!”

    El Mencho said shivering.

“I’m sorry Boss! But I never meant to betray you! Knock…!”

Before El Mencho could finish speaking Don Juan picked up the axe hanging behind him and threw it at him.

The axe split El Mencho’s head apart precisely.

The number two man in the McCain cartel died so meaninglessly.

Don Juan approached the dead El Mencho and pulled the axe out of his head.

Blood and brain fluid splattered around.

Don Juan returned to his seat as if he was not interested in such things and looked over the documents Kay had handed over with his bloody hands once more.

Then he glared at the syndicate’s executives.

“They were trying to abandon the McCain Cartel and switch to the Favela Cartel. To do that they burned all the soma in the warehouse.”

At Don Juan’s words one of the syndicate’s leaders trembled and immediately fell to the floor and knelt down.

“Boss! I absolutely did not do that! It’s true! Please believe me!”

The executive turned to Kay and said.

“That damn witch bitch Sagal is doing something! That would never happen boss!”

    But it was too late.

Don Juan’s axe split the officer’s head apart.

With a loud bang the executive’s head was split open and blood spurted out in all directions. As a result Kay ended up covered in the executive’s blood.

She froze in place turning white at the sight of such a cruel sight beyond her imagination.

Don Juan disguised as a human butcher picked up an axe and aimed it at the other bosses.

“Who betrayed me again? Come out. Come out quickly!”

    “Calm down boss.”

At that moment Zick approached Don Juan from behind.

He became excited and swung his axe at Zeke.

Zeke easily dodged Don Juan’s axe.

Don Juan who was only as good as the Purple Knight at best couldn’t touch even a single hair on Zeke’s head.

Don Juan whose eyes turned red at the sight of blood took a deep breath went to his seat took out some soma powder snorted it through his nose and then drank the poison in gulps.

He wiped his mouth and spoke to Zeke.

“Zeke Murray! What the hell are you? Are you an angel sent by God to help me or a devil from hell who came to destroy this Don Juan!”

    “Zeke said shaking his head.

“I’m neither an angel nor a devil. I’m just a business partner who wants to propose a new deal to the boss.”

“Partner? What kind of deal do you want with me Zeke Murray?”

“The syndicate’s top brass has betrayed their boss. But the McCain cartel needs a distribution network to move its goods. Kay and I will take over the syndicate’s role.”

Don Juan laughed out loud when he heard that.

“Are you asking me to deal with those scumbags right now? For a new deal with you?”

“I’m telling you that we need a justification.”

At those words Don Juan laughed loudly again.

    “It’s a pretext. That’s true.”

Don Juan gestured to the hitmen behind him.

Then the hitmen grabbed all the syndicate executives who were standing there dumbfounded and dragged them out of the conference room.

    Don Juan sat down again.

He opened his mouth after wiping the blood from his face and hands with the towel his subordinate had brought.

“So let’s say I leave the distribution network to you what benefit do I get from it?”

“I will help you clean up the favela cartels.”

At those words Don Juan’s expression changed.

“Are you going to erase those damn pirates from this world?”

“We will completely erase it in the name of Boss and the McCain Cartel.”

Then suddenly Don Juan jumped up from his seat and burst into laughter.

As Don Juan laughed out loud the other cartel bosses who were watching also started laughing.

Soon Don Juan stopped laughing and looked at Zig with a serious face.

“That’s great Zeke Murray. Seriously. Alright. So how do you plan on taking out the favela cartels?”

    Zeke said bluntly.

“If you give me your elite force I will destroy one of the main camps of the Favela Cartel. I will make them fear the McCain Cartel.”

    Don Juan’s eyes became sharp.

It was a look in his eyes that seemed to be trying to thoroughly dig into and understand the human being himself.

After a while Don Juan approached Zique and put his hand on his shoulder.

“Zeke Murray. I Don Juan am impressed by your courage and bravery today.”

He kissed Zeke on the forehead.

“I don’t think there’s any need to doubt you any more. You’ve already given me so many gifts.”

“To celebrate becoming your partner I will give you a new gift Boss.”

    Don Juan nodded.

    “Very good.”

    He walked slowly towards Kay.

Then he took her hand kissed it again and said.

“While you show off your bravery against Pamela Cartel I will treat you like an honored guest and serve you lady.”

The words were soft but in the end it meant that he was taking Kay hostage.

Unlike Kay who was flustered Zeke nodded nonchalantly.

    “Okay boss.”

Then Don Juan smiled and raised his glass.

“For McCain! And for the brave warrior Zeke Murray! Salute!”

    “Salute!”

Along with Don Juan the other cartel bosses also emptied the glasses in front of them.

The smell of blood sinister conspiracy and damp fear permeated the air.

Zeke could finally feel that he was back in the South.

He looked at Don Juan who was laughing heartily.

‘Laugh all you want because soon you will be caught in the trap you set yourself and will struggle.’

    * * *

    Whoosh!

Shadows moved quickly through the dense jungle.

The McCain Cartel’s combat units were now in the jungles of the favela cartel territory.

Manuel the deputy commander couldn’t help but be surprised to see the man named Zig running in front of him.

‘He’s clearly from the Central Continent but how is he so good at southern martial arts?’

In the South there was no systematic Aura training method like in the Central Continent.

That is why their physical and martial arts skills were relatively more developed.

However Zeke was moving much faster and more stealthily than the killers themselves.

Because of this Manuel and the other members who at first openly ignored Zeke and acted territorially gradually had no choice but to follow his orders as they went deeper into the favela cartel’s territory.

Then Zeke gave the stop signal.

All the unit members held their breath behind the trees and looked ahead.

Soon a group of figures appeared beyond the forest.

    Manuel held his breath.

‘Damn it. Why did it have to be a werewolf?’

Among the human races the Werewolf Race was known for its high fighting ability.

Because it was bipedal it could use weapons used by humans and it was difficult to deal with because it would persistently attack with its sharp teeth and claws if you got close.

Manuel glanced at Zeke next to him.

Then he realized that even though he was the deputy commander he was already waiting for Zeke’s orders.

However without giving any other orders Zeke took out a dagger from his bosom and slowly stood up from his seat.

Before Manuel could stop him Zeke quickly climbed up the tree.

    Whoosh!

Zig created a wind energy with his mana and flew between the trees as if he was flying.

Zeke who was about to have a proper battle for the first time in a long time felt a strange excitement.

Zig who had completely disappeared from the tree looked at the werewolf tribe below.

He instinctively sought out the strongest of them.

    WHEEK!

With a gust of wind Zig fell straight down the tree.

    Phew!

Zig who had loaded his dagger with a blade of wind cut the werewolf leader in two.

    Bam!

Only when the leader was split in half and fell down did the other werewolf warriors look around in surprise.

But it was already too late.

    Whirlyrick!

This was because Zig who was crawling on the ground cut down the rest of the werewolves in an instant.

    “Cough!”

As soon as he entered the center of the group he quickly dispatched eight werewolf warriors by aiming only for the neck and heart.

    ‘That’s ridiculous.’

Manuel and other unit members also opened their mouths wide when they saw Zeke’s movements.

Zeke stood up from his seat as if nothing had happened dusted himself off and gestured to his men.

Manuel and his men’s movements were more nimble than before.
