A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 449
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 449
‘A great wise man?’
Zeke recalled the message that had appeared when he had previously resurrected the mask of Agamemnon.
[The name of the mask of ??? has been confirmed.]
[The mask of the great sage Atrahasis has been restored.]
Atra-hasis the true name of a great sage unknown to the world.
Only Zeke knew that name.
He raised his head and asked the man who declared himself to be a great sage.
“Are you the spirit of the great sage?”
As the sage nodded to Zeke’s words the snake-shaped earrings on both of his ears made a jingling sound.
“It may be a bit different from other spirits but overall I think that statement is correct.”
It was an ambiguous answer but since that was the way wizards usually spoke Zeke let it slide.
He looked at the great sage and asked him.
“Why is the spirit of the great sage here in the primordial temple? And how did he know my name and what does it mean that he was waiting for me?”
The great sage smiled and nodded to the questions Zeke posed.
“I’m sure you have many questions. It looks like this conversation will be long so I think it would be best to move.”
He snapped his fingers and the surrounding scenery changed in an instant.
Tsk tsk tsk―
Before I knew it the temple had disappeared and a room decorated with elegantly patterned tiles and white cloths appeared.
Since he had a similar experience when he had previously encountered the spirit of Hoshigar Zig looked around calmly without panicking.
The great sage offered his seat to Zeke.
“Please take a seat over here. I know you like tea so I’ll treat you to some of Carcosa’s specialties.”
Carcosa a legendary city that was destroyed long ago.
The very idea of being able to drink that specialty tea from Carcosa felt like an unbelievable joke to Zeke.
Soon the great sage brought tea sets of a style he had never seen before.
He heated the water put the dried tea in the kettle and waited for it to steep.

As soon as the tea was brewed I strained the tea leaves through a strainer and poured the tea into a separate teapot.
He just picked up the teapot and poured tea into the teacups.
The great sage offered Zeke some tea and said:
“This is a black tea a specialty of Carcosa. Please try it.”
Zeke smelled the tea the great sage had given him.
“It smells different from regular tea.”
“You can think of it as processed and oxidized tea as you know. Different types of black tea are produced in each city but I like the black tea from Carcosa the best. It is elegant clean and classy.”
The great sage took the cup and sipped the tea savoring it.
Zik also savored the aroma and taste of a new type of tea black tea.
Zig who had finished drinking his tea looked up and opened his mouth to look at the great sage.
“The Elder Dragon led me here.”
The great sage raised his head after hearing his words.
“I see you’ve been to the pyramids of Carcosa.”
Zeke thought back to the massive central structure he had entered.
“Pyramid… I guess that’s the name of the building.”
“It is a great building that symbolizes the wondrous city of Carcosa. King Solomon used his wisdom to gather the strength of all races and completed the pyramid and Carcosa became a city loved by all constellations.”
Zeke looked at the great sage and spoke calmly.
“The great sage is known as a great man of the era of the King of Heroes and this black tea is also… From what I hear you say it seems like you know the era of the constellations well.”
The great sage put down his teacup looked at Zig and said.
“King of Heroes Caesar. The world I know is divided into the time before and after the birth of that special being. After Caesar the phenomenal world became the age of heroes not constellations.”
Zeke pondered the words of the great sage and then opened his mouth.
“Could it be that the wise man has lived from the age of the constellations to the age of the king of heroes?”
To those words the great sage smiled and answered.
“I have lived a very long time Sir Zeke. It was not my will but it was the wheel of destiny.”
Zig fell silent for a moment at the enigmatic words of the great sage then opened his inventory and took out the holy relic.
The Holy Grail from the Ark the scabbard from the god Tyr and the mask of Agamemnon.
Three holy relics appeared together in one place.
The great sage who saw this looked interested.
“The first relics containing the power of the primordial light… It has been a long time since I have seen all three sacred instruments gathered together.”
Zeke said looking at the great sage.
“The power of the Elder Dragon has given me the mission to bring this trinity to the Temple of the Beginning.”
The great sage nodded at those words.
“You mean the main quest of the Kabbalah system?”
When the great sage mentioned the Kabbalah system Zik was astonished and asked:
“So the wise man also knew the Kabbalah system?”
At those words the great sage smiled and said:
“It couldn’t be otherwise. I was the one who helped King Solomon design this system so that it could be shared with the Elder Dragons.”

Zeke’s eyes widened at the great sage’s words.
‘The Kabbalah system by a great sage?’
Then as if the great sage knew what Zeke was wondering he gestured and surprisingly the same system window that Zeke was looking at appeared.
He said looking at Zeke.
“Although we cannot compare to King Solomon both I and the Elder Dragon as Master Administrators were able to use the system to manage karma to some extent.”
Karma the power to deal with cause and effect.
Using this even the laws of the world could be changed.
Zeke asked the great sage.
“Is it possible to deal with karma without a system?”
When Zig asked a question that suddenly occurred to him the wise man nodded.
“It is not easy but it is not impossible. Solomon learned how to manipulate karma using the power he received from the God of Chaos and he shared this with me and the Elder Dragon in the form of a system.”
“It seems that it is possible to deal with karma even if it is not necessarily in the form of a system.”
“Actually dealing with karma isn’t that special. Magic and aurora are also methods of dealing with karma. The difference is how much of ‘causality’ can be handled.”
Zeke tilted his head as he listened to the great sage’s words.
“What does it mean to bear causality?”
“To put it simply this is what it is. I have a Carcosa black tea in front of me. If we follow the original causality it would take a very long process to make this black tea. Isn’t that right?”
Zeke nodded.
“…Yes it takes time and effort to grow tea leaves dry them process them etc.”
“That’s correct. That’s causality. But look at this.”
The great sage placed his hand on the container containing the tea.
Then the number of containers containing black tea increased to two.
Zig was startled when he suddenly saw two tea cans.
“Did you bring another teapot?”
The great sage shook his head at those words.
“I have now realized the causality of this tea existing here by replacing it with karma.”
The hermit in the story had previously shown something similar to Zeke.
And only then did Zeke remember that the hermit in the story had dealt with karma without a system.
And at that moment something crossed Zeke’s mind.
“Karma points… So you’re saying that we can use them to replace causality?”
The great sage nodded.
“Handling karma is the inherent power of the constellations. They were given the authority to adjust and manipulate the laws of the world by the primordial light. But as always too much power causes problems. The constellations overused karma and causality became distorted.”
As he said that the great sage’s face darkened.
“The earth with its causality distorted has changed terribly. Some places have been damaged by floods some have dried up due to severe droughts some have been thrown away due to excessive production and the land and rivers have rotted and some have frozen to death.”
The backlash against the indiscriminate use of karma by the constellations began to manifest.
But the constellations paid no attention to such things and used karma recklessly as they and their patrons desired.
Because of this existing laws were distorted and things that could not have happened originally occurred.
Zeke could feel the despair flowing from the great sage’s voice.
The great sage raised his head again and opened his mouth.
“Except for a few cities protected by the constellations the earth has become a horrific hell. King Solomon and the Elder Dragon have joined forces to fix this.”
Zeke nodded at those words.
“I heard from the Elder Dragon that King Solomon saw this and tried to make a contract with it to overcome his limitations and ended up becoming immortal.”
The great sage nodded at Zeke’s words.
“That’s right. King Solomon has destroyed or sealed away countless beings that threaten the earth. There are countless of them. From cursed evil spirits to monsters created by the pranks of powerful ancient races and constellations…”
Zeke thought of the Blood King Caligula who had been absorbed into him.
He was the king of the Simian tribe who sealed himself away after being chased by King Solomon who had become a godslayer.
‘King Solomon punished not only the demons and the blood kings but also all beings that were causing chaos on earth.’
The great sage continued speaking.
“Solomon was trying to resolve the mistakes made by the constellations when he suddenly realized one thing.”
“What is that?”
“This is not an end in itself and we need to address the fundamental problem.”
“If it’s a fundamental problem…?”
The great sage looked at Zeke and said:
“That’s right the constellations.”
In the end it was the wayward constellations that caused all the problems on Earth.
The great sage continued.
“Among the constellations there were some who were wise and sought to preserve peace on earth but most were only interested in their own interests. King Solomon also tried to persuade the constellations at first. But… those arrogant beings would never listen to him.”
The constellations that imprisoned the primordial light and took its power away for their own amusement and desires.
Zeke felt his blood boil just hearing about the atrocities of those constellations.
“So did King Solomon start his new life?”
The great sage shook his head.
“King Solomon did not initially commit the act of murder. It was the sealing ring created by the combined efforts of the Fairy King and the Elder Dragon. That changed King Solomon’s mind.”
When Zeke heard the words of the great sage he did not readily understand what he was saying.
So Zeke took out Solomon’s ring from his inventory and asked the great sage.
“Why did this ring become the trigger for King Solomon’s assassination?”
The great sage looked at the ring of Solomon on Zeke’s hand with a complicated expression.
Then he nodded and opened his mouth heavily.
“The ring that the Elder Dragon and the Fairy King created together. The original purpose of creating this ring was to seal beings that could not be destroyed by King Solomon’s power. Since such beings could only be dealt with by the Fairy King the concept was to temporarily store them there. However….”
The great sage continued with a hardened face.
“After King Solomon learned that the ring could trap the constellations he made a different choice.”
Constellations were known to be perfect and indestructible unlike mortals.
It is impossible for mortals to fight the constellations and only fights between constellations are possible.
However if the constellations fight each other the damage will be completely returned to the Earth.
That is why King Solomon also tried his best to persuade the constellations.
However after learning that the ring could seal the constellations and also access some of their powers Solomon took a different approach.
“He sealed the constellations that were distorting causality in his ring and began to use their power to hunt down stronger constellations. At first the constellations that had laughed at King Solomon began to feel the gravity of the situation as more and more powerful constellations were sealed away. However the bigger problem was what came next.”
The great sage who had been silent for a moment looked at Zig and opened his mouth in a subdued voice.
“King Solomon once again went to the god of chaos who was imprisoned in the name of the goddess Theia and asked for a favor.”
He closed his eyes and spoke slowly.
“Tell me how to destroy the constellations.”
