A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 436
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 436
‘You want me to fight the Duke of Crevan?’
Zeke wondered what the new mission from Arthur Draker that Baron had delivered might mean.
Duke Crevan di Panion the King of the Underworld.
He was a legendary figure considered one of the five strongest knights on the entire continent and the greatest warrior in the Roman Empire.
In Zeke’s opinion there was only one reason why Arthur Draker had insisted on meeting and confronting the Duke of Crevan.
‘You want to see a picture of me being defeated by the Duke of Crevan.’
Although Zeke was the guardian knight of Draker and the black knight he was not strong enough to fight directly against the Duke of Crevan also known as the Underworld.
Assuming Arthur was unaware of his true power this order could only be thought of as a mission given with the hope of defeat not victory.
There were two reasons why Zeke thought so.
‘First of all it would be to calm the discontent within the Roman Empire.’
Although Rom was liberated from Siemens’ hands this process was carried out by an external force the Drake family.
And at the center of it all was Zeke Draker renowned as the Knight of Salvation.
Although the citizens of Rom were praising the knight of salvation Zeke not all of the Rom Empire reacted in the same way.
This is because there was also a negative view that the Draker family an external force took the lead in stirring up the Rom Empire which eventually led to the split into two forces Rom and Jupiter.
In such a situation if Zeke were to have a confrontation with Duke Crevan who is like a symbol of the Rom Empire and be defeated a picture would be drawn that would protect the pride of the Empire although it may be a little late.
At the same time he was able to naturally bring the Duke of Crevan to Prince Leo’s side thereby legitimizing the succession to the throne and encouraging the entry of other imperial noble families.
The practical benefits of Zeke’s defeat are quite significant.
‘The second is to adjust my position within the family.’
Perhaps Arthur Draker had no idea that Zeke would actually take over Rom’s palace.
His original plan would have been to use the resulting armed conflict and Siemens’ illegal activities as an excuse for the Draker family to intervene in the Roman Empire if Zeke failed in this mission.
However Sieg succeeded in his mission to create a justification took over Rom and drove out Siemens. He even installed a new emperor of the Rom Empire led by Julius so his position within the Draker family became too high.
Since Zeke had never failed and had achieved amazing feats that others could not even imagine Arthur Draker the head of the family was wary of him.
If Zeke were to challenge and lose to Duke Crevan his rising reputation would likely be somewhat dampened.
Perhaps he wanted to make the entire continent aware that although the Knights of Salvation have been on a roll with no end in sight they have not yet reached the ranks of the strongest on the continent.
Zeke looked up at the Baron pondering Arthur Draker’s intentions for this mission.

“Did you mention that you would give me some kind of reward if I were to defeat Duke Crevan?”
Baron nodded at Zeke’s words.
“Yes the Lord said this.”
He paused for a moment then opened his mouth again looking at Zeke with a meaningful expression.
“Sir Zeke said that if I win the fight against Duke Crevan I will hand over the position of head of the family.”

Doo doo doo doo doo!
A group of knights were rushing towards Rom the capital of the Roman Empire.
Several imperial-style spears shorter than regular spears were stuck into the flanks of the horses of the galloping knights.
The one leading those knights was an old man with sharp eyes.
A battle-worn knight wearing simple imperial uniform running towards Rome.
He was the Duke of Crevan di Panion the First Spear of the Empire and the so-called King of Hell.
Heeeeeeeeeing!
A knightly band led by Duke Crevan entered Rome and raced straight to the imperial tomb.
The site of the Imperial Mausoleum known as the holy land of the Roman Empire was completely burned down leaving only black ruins.
Duke Crevan who arrived at the site of the royal tomb jumped down from his horse with light movements.
The imperial knights guarding the front approached to block Duke Crevan from entering the royal tomb site.
“You must not enter here…”
The knight who was trying to stop him turned pale and stepped back when he recognized the emblem of the Panion family and the face of the Duke of Crevan.
“Your Excellency the Duke.”
Duke Crevan paid no attention to the knights who tried to block his path and entered the ruins of the burnt-out imperial tomb.
Duke Crevan stood there speechless as he watched the imperial sanctuary that had endured for hundreds of years completely disappear.
Someone approached from behind Duke Crevan who had been standing there for a while.
“Your Excellency the Duke.”
It was Daria Calvi the leader of the Knights of the Inmagung.
Even though Daria arrived Duke Crevan did not respond and just quietly stared at the site of the disappeared royal tomb.
After a while he slowly knelt on one knee and bowed to the disappeared Hwangneung before getting up from his seat again.
Only then did he open his mouth when he saw Daria.
“It’s been a while.”
Daria had previously learned the Phanion-style spear technique the Pyrrhic Spear from Duke Crevan.
Daria said as she looked at the Duke of Crevan.
“I was surprised to hear that His Majesty the Duke was coming to Rome in person.”
The Duke of Crevan rarely left the lands of the House of Panion.
Even when the insane Emperor Nero ordered him to enter the palace he did not budge.
It was surprising that the Duke of Crevan himself came to Rome leading his knights.
Duke Crevan spoke as he looked at the ruins of the broken imperial tomb.
“Before Nero came to the throne His Majesty the late King brought me here when I was just a new member of the palace guard.”

Nero who was called the mad emperor was the person who led the revival of the Roman Empire.
Duke Crevan continued recalling the previous emperor.
“His Majesty showed me this holy place a place I had just been knighted and told me that the spirit and soul of the Empire is contained here.”
Duke Crevan recalled the voice of the former emperor that he had heard long ago.
Daria could read the longing in his seemingly indifferent eyes.
For Duke Crevan the Holy Land was a very special place as it held memories of the previous emperor from long ago.
Now he is the first knight of the empire and no one can go against his word but long ago he was just a rookie knight.
The previous emperor gave him a lot of support and encouraged him to get back up even when he wanted to give up.
Duke Crevan felt a great sense of emptiness when he saw that the holy places that held such memories had all burned down.
Duke Crevan who had been looking at the site of the royal tomb for a moment turned his gaze back to Daria and spoke.
“Zeke Draker called me.”
Daria flinched at the mention of Zeke Draker’s name from Crevan’s mouth.
Duke Crevan asked Daria with a sharp look in his eyes.
“Daria what kind of person do you think Zeke Draker is?”
Daria remained silent for a long time to answer Duke Crevan’s question.
After much thought she finally opened her mouth slowly.
“Zeke Draker is… a person I cannot judge.”
Although it was a cowardly evasion of the question Daria could not find any further answer.
After hearing Daria’s answer Duke Crevan looked at her in silence.
Daria felt an indescribable tension as the stern duke silently looked down at her.
Duke Crevan slowly opened his mouth.
“Daria I am surprised that you would judge a knight of the enemy faction the Drake in that way.”
Daria was confused by his words the exact meaning of which she could not understand.
“Your Highness the Duke. That is…..”
“If you had made any judgments I would have gone straight back to the estate. And that was my intention. But after hearing what you had to say I became more interested.”
The Duke of Crevan leaped back onto his horse.
Then he said to Daria.
“Go ahead Daria. I will personally meet the Knight of Salvation.”
Daria got on her horse with a complicated expression not knowing that her decision to reserve judgment would win the favor of the picky Duke of Crevan. However she could not disobey his orders.
So Daria Calvi and the Duke of Crevan headed to the palace.

“Are you saying that the Duke of Crevan has come to Rome?”
Calito who was diligently looking over documents in the butler’s office opened his mouth wide when he heard Prince Leo’s words.
Calito was currently acting as consul in Julius’ stead.
Julius’s health has deteriorated significantly since he nearly died from the Abyss’s gold. He has been aging rapidly and losing his hair.
As a result Carlito who had outstanding talents in administration and diplomacy came in as his successor.
Although Carlito who was the Vice-Captain of the Knights of the Scorpio had never met the Duke of Crevan in person he knew how stubborn and stubborn he was.
Even if the Emperor called him directly he would never move and from the beginning he was a person who was confined only to the Panion territory.
Even when Siemens occupied Rome the Duke of Crevan never made any statement.
I couldn’t help but be surprised that such a person suddenly came to Rome without any prior notice.
Prince Leo who was preparing for the coronation also asked Carlito with a worried expression.
“Do you have any idea why Duke Crevan the acting butler has suddenly come to the palace?”
At Leo’s words Calito shook his head.
“Ahem Duke Crevan is truly an unpredictable person. It’s hard to make a guess about him easily.”
Then Carus who had been following Leo and lying on the sofa in the office with his legs stretched out shook his head and said.
“I don’t understand why Brother Leo and the Acting Butler find it so difficult.”
As soon as everyone’s attention turned to him Carus took a bite of the fruit on the table and continued speaking.
“You can tell just by looking at it.”
Leo tilted his head at Karus’s words and asked.
“You can tell just by looking at it. What on earth is that Karus?”
Leo had become much closer to Karus than before.
“Carus said rising from the sofa.
“I guess you just came here to take a quick look around?”
Leo nodded at his words.
“Carus you don’t seem to know much about Duke Crevan. He is not a man who cares about what others think.”
At those words Karus snickered and said.
“No matter how strong a knight is he is still human after all. Even if he is the Duke of Crevan he must be worried that there is a knight of salvation in Rom.”
At his words Leo turned his head and looked at Carlito.
“What do you think Duke Crevan the acting butler thinks of Zeke Draker?”
Carlito looked complicated at Leo’s question.
“If it’s the Duke of Crevan… he won’t like it very much. In Abel’s case there were various excuses anyway so the Duke’s side didn’t show much of a reaction but in the current situation it seems like Draker was completely involved.”
It was Julius who helped Abel gain recognition of his right to the throne.
It may have been annoying that Julius was trying to change sides again and put Prince Leo on the throne.
Behind them stood Zeke Draker the guardian knight of House Draker.
This was unlikely to be a good look for the Duke of Crevan who had a strict and demanding personality.
“Calito said clutching his head.
“If he came because of Sir Zeke there’s a high probability that he’ll intervene in this matter and point out the issue of the succession to the throne. Hmm if not then maybe there’s something else….”
Karus shook his head as he watched the troubled Kalito.
“It seems like the acting consul doesn’t know much about Duke Crevan. He seems like the kind of person who would care about such things. If the government is run by a monkey not a consul he wouldn’t care much as long as things run smoothly.”
Although Carlito sympathized with those words he couldn’t easily feel at ease and showed an anxious expression on his face.
That was when.
The adjutant came in urgently.
“Your Majesty the Archon! His Excellency the Duke of Crevan has entered the palace.”
At those words Carlito was startled and jumped up from his seat.
“Duke? What brings you here?”
The adjutant said with a slightly confused look on his face.
“I have come to meet with the Knight of Salvation Sir Zeke Draker.”
