    Episode 427

Azmun Barrios despite his dark and scheming nature appeared to be a very generous warrior on the outside.

In fact Azmoon was also an excellent knight with abilities beyond that of the Red Knight.

He dismounted and greeted Zeke with the utmost respect.

“I am Azmun Barrios leading the Knights of Magal Palace. It is an honor to meet the Knight of Salvation in person.”

I don’t know what his true feelings were but it was by no means easy for a knight of an enemy nation to lower his stance first to a much younger Zeke.

But for Azmoun Barrios such formalities were of little importance.

This was the crucial difference between Castro and Azmoun who came from noble families.

Despite Azmoon’s hospitality Zik did not dismount.

Traditionally Zeke should have dismounted and responded to Azmoun’s hospitality but he simply looked down at him with a straight face.

The knights of Magal Palace behind Azmun began to frown at Zig’s attitude.

But they too couldn’t move hastily due to the different aura emanating from Zeke’s body.

Zeke said as he looked at Azmoon.

“Do you plan to negotiate here?”

Even Azmun the schemer felt nervous at the dry emotionless voice and the overwhelming charisma contained within it.

‘A monster worse than the dead emperor.’

The reason why Emperor Nero was able to maintain his imperial power despite being a madman was none other than this.

This was possible because he was strong and there was no one in Rome who could disobey his words.

Azmun felt that in Zeke he held a higher status than the dead emperor.

The natural ruler who can bring thousands of knights to their knees with just one word.

That’s what I felt from Zeke right now.

Azmun who had just come to his senses bowed his head toward Zeke and spoke.

“Of course not Sir Zeke Draker. I will guide you to the negotiation room.”

Azmun mounted his horse again and led Zeke and his men.

Zeke followed Azmoon and watched the scenery of Rom passing by.

A desolate city where not a single person can be seen.

‘Rom is already as good as dead.’

Without its citizens the city could not function.

The current Rom ruled by Abel was nothing but an empty shell.

However Rome still had great symbolism as the capital of the Roman Empire.

Zeke couldn’t help but wonder what Ramon Siemens’ motive was the mastermind behind all this.

‘What on earth are you planning to do with the empty shell of Rom using the remains of the dead Abel?’

As Zeke followed Azmun pondering Ramon Siemens’ purpose a giant temple appeared in front of him.

It was none other than the Great Temple of the Sun.

It was the headquarters of the Sun Cult which separated from the Light Cult and the largest temple on the continent. Azmun had chosen that place as the location for negotiations.

    ‘It’s a great temple…’

If there was any other place the temple of Rome it would be a good place for a secret conspiracy to take place.

Zeke thought that there must be a reason why the trickster Azmun had chosen this place as the negotiating location.

As I followed Azmun and the knights of Magal Palace into the main temple I saw priests of the Sun Cult lined up in a row.

Azmun said as he watched Zeke following behind him.

“No one will enter the main hall while negotiations are in progress.”

That’s what they said but we had to wait until the negotiations were over to see if that was really true.

Azmoon and Zeke each took their groups into the great temple.

As we entered there was a negotiation table set up in the central hall of the temple.

Zeke and Azmoon sat facing each other and ten people whose numbers had been set in advance lined up behind them.

Azmun sat down and took off his helmet gasping for breath.

“Whew I feel like I can live a little now. Since my expression is so fierce my adjutants said that I should at least wear a helmet so I’m forcing myself to wear it but it’s killing me.”

Felix couldn’t help but smile faintly at Azmoon’s words.

Reina poked Felix in the side as if to tell him to be careful.

Azmun waved his hand as if to say that it was okay.

“You don’t have to be so stiff. Isn’t this a good place to talk openly? Instead why don’t you go to the rest area in the back and have a cold drink and rest? Our knights also want to interact with the knights of the Black Sword Order which has a great reputation these days.”

Despite his rough appearance Azmun was very eloquent.

The tense atmosphere was instantly relieved with just a few words.

    But then it happened.

“Do you think we came here to rest?”

As soon as Zeke opened his mouth the atmosphere became tense again.

The relaxed atmosphere that Azmun had worked so hard to create became taut again like a bowstring being pulled back.

At Zeke’s words Azmun also changed his posture and brought up a different topic.

“Knight of Salvation. Would you please take a look at this?”

He naturally brought something out in front of Zeke and turned the mood around.

As I slowly unwrapped the luxurious velvet cloth a book bound in red leather came out.

Azmun showed the book and spoke to Zeke.

“These are the memoirs of the dragon slayer Terrakan Draker that we discovered.”

When the story of the legendary dragon slayer Terracan Draker came up the Dark Spirits behind Zeke seemed the most surprised.

Zeke who was actually a pureblood Awakened Draker looked at Terracan Draker’s memoirs silently without any particular expression.

    Zeke said to Azmoon.

“If you thought you could use Terracan Draker’s memoirs to blackmail the Draker family you were mistaken.”

It was Zig who struck first before Azmoon could even say anything about the negotiations.

Azmun shook his head at his words.

“Haha how could that be? Terrakan Draker the Dragon Slayer is a hero and knight revered by all across the continent. But surprisingly aside from the myths about the War of Liberation not much is actually known about Terrakan Draker.”

    Azmun continued grumbling.

“These memoirs contain the truth about Terracan Draker a fact that has never been known before. I would like to present these memoirs to the Draker family as a token of my friendship.”

Zeke who had been quietly listening to Azmun’s words slowly opened his mouth.

“I find it hard to believe that you will dedicate the book to the Draker family without revealing to the public that Terracan Draker is the illegitimate child of the Draker family.”

The other knights standing behind him were startled and looked around at Zig’s remark that so casually revealed the secret of Terracan.

The same was true for the Black Spirit Corps members as well as the knights of Magal Palace.

If it were revealed that Terrakan Draker the protagonist of the Dragon Slayer legend was an illegitimate child of the Draker family it would have been a great blow to the family’s honor.

However Zeke did not care at all about this and spoke without hesitation.

Azmun also hesitated as if he had not expected this reaction from Zeke before finally opening his mouth.

“…If you wanted to surprise me you succeeded Sir Zeke Draker.”

“I didn’t come here to surprise the commander.”

Zeke reached out and picked up the memoir placed before him.

Then I quickly unfolded it and looked at it.

Zig scanned the entire contents of the book in an instant and checked through the system whether the book was real.

‘…It seems to be genuine. It is the memoir of Terracan Draker.’

Zeke inherited the Terracan’s security vault.

However there was no such memoir in the security vault.

All that was organized were official documents such as the supply logs he used during the war of liberation and the basic manual for the Yongsal method.

Zeke said as he looked at Azmoon.

“Commander I don’t think we need to waste time exploring each other’s busy schedules. Tell me what you really want to talk about.”

Azmun hesitated at his words then sighed and nodded.

“Whew I guess I can’t beat the Knight of Salvation.”

Azmun leaned closer to Zeke and slowly opened his mouth.

“Sir Zeke how about you gather some people around you first?”

At Azmun’s suggestion Zeke rested his chin on his hand and remained silent for a while before gesturing towards the Black Spirits.

Then Azmun also made a simple gesture and the knights of Magal Palace moved to another room along with the Black Spirit members.

Azmun who saw this said with an embarrassed expression.

“Haha I was trying to create a chance for Sir Zeke and I to have a natural conversation but I guess I got off to a bad start.”

Azmun was trying to create a comfortable atmosphere like before.

Zeke looked at him and said.

“What do you want to say?”

Azmun had a rather nervous expression on his face.

“What I want to say is…..”

At the same time Azmun used message magic towards Zeke.

    – In fact Terracan’s memoir is a bait.

Zeke’s eyebrows twitched at Azmun’s words.

It was difficult to understand Azmun’s intentions as he openly said that he had lured him here using Terracan’s memoirs.

    – Sir Zeek how about joining hands with me?

Azmoon once again offered his cooperation to Zeke secretly through message magic.

When Zeke remained silent Azmun again conveyed his intentions using message magic.

-Abel Siemens. Don’t you want to catch him?

At Azmun’s words Zeke’s eyes wavered for a moment.

According to what he said he had deliberately used the memoir as bait to bring Zeke to Rom in order to attack Abel together.

Then Azmoon’s message was delivered to Zeke.

―In fact I held a grudge against Emperor Nero. For a long time I held the dishonorable reputation of being a dark schemer but I rose to the position of general of the legion in order to somehow get the opportunity to kill the emperor.

Zig listened to Azmoon’s message silently.

―That is why when Siemens said they were going to overthrow the emperor I was the first to join the revolution. After that as you know the emperor died and Abel Siemens took his place… I never imagined that there could be a madman worse than Emperor Nero.

It is said that Abel who was worse than the mad emperor Nero was determined to kill him before he could fully ascend to the throne.

―Abel Siemens is now locked up in the palace and he has to kill dozens of people every day and drink their blood to maintain his sanity. That’s why there’s never a day when blood runs dry in the palace.

Before he knew it Azmun was clenching his hands and trembling.

He opened his mouth and looked at Zeke.

“I request that the Black Sword Knights stationed in Heli withdraw.”

Zeke raised his head and looked at Azmoon.

And then he responded to Azmun’s rhythm.

“If I step down from Heli will you hand over your memoirs?”

“This is only a request. As I said before I will give the memoirs to the Draker family as a token of my friendship.”

    “Hmm… the meaning of friendship.”

At that time Zeke communicated his intention to Azmun through telepathy.

-If you kill Abel who do you plan on making the next emperor? It could be that the commander himself wants to become the emperor.

Azmun looked slightly surprised at Zeke’s telepathy then shook his head.

―No way. I have never thought of becoming emperor. Right now I have the justification to move Siemens to Rom through Abel but if I can kill Abel and drive Siemens out of Rom I would like to call Consul Julius and join forces to rebuild the Rom Empire.

Zeke’s eyes deepened at Azmun’s words.

‘Azmun Barrios personally drags Julius into Rome?’

In the previous life it was Julius who cut off Azmun’s head.

The two people were the most polar opposites of each other.

Although the situation had changed a lot since their previous lives their personalities had not changed so Zeke could not readily believe Azmun’s words.

Besides if that was true it would still be possible to switch to Julius’ side.

At that moment Azmun looked at Zeke and sent a message.

―Currently a black magician is manipulating Abel Siemens behind the scenes as the acting archon and is dominating the palace.

He clenched his teeth and looked at Zeke sending another message.

―I can no longer stand to see my former homeland the Empire of Rom being manipulated by dark magicians and madmen.

Although the message was transmitted through magic it contained Azmun’s true feelings.

Zeke who had been silently listening to Azmun looked at him and opened his mouth.

“I will have the garrison removed from Heli. Instead….”

In that moment a blue flame rose from the memoir of Terracan Draker in front of Zeke and instantly burst into flames.

Beyond the flames Zigg looked at Azmoon and said.

“Make sure to keep your promise. If you don’t the commander will have to pay the price.”
