    Episode 42

    Rrrrrrr!

The entire lair was shaken by Bahamut’s momentum.

    He said to Shatton Draker.

“You leave it to me to teach you how to kill a dragon? I knew you were a detestable man but I didn’t know you were crazy.”

Despite Bahamut’s murderous intent Shaton stood before him with an unwavering appearance and continued speaking.

“Cronus also agreed with me. You Bahamut will know better why.”

Then Bahamut raised his head and shouted.

“Cronus has lost his standard as a tuner because he was possessed by humans! I don’t believe the nonsense prophecies he spoke!”

Bahamut sank his teeth into Shatton Draker.

“Get out of my lair immediately. Otherwise I will kill you and all the humans in the Kingdom of Kronos.”

“If you do such a thing even you Bahamut will not be able to escape the punishment of karma.”

“Because of that bastard Kaiser there are too many humans on this continent. Do you think killing a few tens of thousands of you will break the balance of karma? Rather leaving you to multiply like insects will break the balance!”

As Bahamut reacted violently Shaton took something out of his bosom as if he had no choice.

    It was an old clock.

Shaton showed his watch to Bahamut.

“As Kronos said the ruler of the sunset will never accept my request.”

With those words Shatton opened the lid of the pocket watch.

Then a black mist rose from Bahamut’s body.

“What do you think the power of Kronos can do to me!”

He spread his four huge wings.

The black azaleas gathered together to form a sharp spear.

It seemed as if at any moment those spears might fly towards Shatun.

    That was when.

    Eeeeeeeing!

The pocket watch began to tick quickly.

Bahamut who was about to attack Shaton stopped in his tracks.

Suddenly when Bahamut showed no response Zeke realized that the pocket watch Shaton was holding had used some kind of power.

‘A watch imbued with the power of Chronos?’

    That was when.

    Rrrrrrr!

Bahamut moved again twisting his body and howling.

    “Kuaaaah!”

It was a howl as if the soul had been ripped out.

Bahamut who had finally calmed down glared at Shaton and said.

“You… what the hell did you do to me?”

Shatton said closing the pocket watch.

“I just let you experience part of the prophecy that Kronos spoke.”

Bahamut glared at Shaton and exuded even thicker murderous aura.

However the black spears that had been made to look like they would fly at any moment were destroyed.

He folded his wings and approached Shatun.

“Fuck. Making a contract with a human was wrong in the first place.”

“I think so too. Humans should have risen up with their own power not with the power of dragons.”

Bahamut spoke to Shaton breathing heavily.

“Hand it over. That damn thing called the Dragon Slaughter Method or something.”

Shatton took a booklet out of his bosom.

Then the book floated up and opened before Bahamut’s eyes.

Bahamut who had read all the contents glared at Shaton and said.

“Wow you’re really good at making something like this.”

    “It’s to protect this world.”

“Nonsense. It was meant for humans not the world.”

Soon the book in front of Bahamut turned to ash and scattered.

    Bahamut spoke to Shaton.

“I will keep this. If the prophecy that Kronos spoke of does not come true this will not go out into the world.”

“Even without the True Dragon Sword humans are looking for ways to become stronger so they can kill each other better. As time goes by they will eventually learn how to use Aura on their own.”

“Then I guess I’ll have to step forward and kill all the humans myself. This is too dangerous a power for a human to possess.”

    Shatton Draker spoke to Bahamut.

“One day you too will find your soul contractor. Then you will be able to understand the mind of Kronos.”

With these words Shatton Draker left Bahamut’s Lair.

Left alone Bahamut curled up again and fell into the abyss.

But for a long time Shatton Drake’s words lingered in his mind.

    He thought.

He said that he would never have a human as a contractor.

    “omg!”

When I came to I saw that Zeke was standing there unconscious holding his sword.

For a moment Zeke vividly recalled a fragment of his past when he had become Bahamut and met Shatton Draker.

It seems that the True Dragon Sword created by Shatton Draker was passed on to Bahamut and its vision was passed on to Terrakan Draker Bahamut’s contractor.

It was a mystery why Bahamut who did not like humans changed his mind made a contract with Terrakan Draker and taught him the True Dragon Sword.

There were no proper records so I couldn’t know what was what.

‘Does the Draker family know about this secret from the past?’

With all traces of the Terracan Drakers erased there was no way the secret stories of Bahamut and Shaton Draker would remain.

At that moment Zeke felt something had changed.

    ‘Has the ceasefire gotten bigger?’

I could feel that my mid-fight had expanded significantly compared to before I started practicing the True Dragon Sword.

    Woohoo!

The amount of mana you can handle has increased and aura conversion has also become faster.

    Zeke unfolded his elemental sword.

    Whoosh! Whoosh!

As the field of fire spread flames rose fiercely from the sword.

As the amount of mana that can be handled increases the power of the Elemental Sword also increases.

“I still have a long way to go to become Master Caesar but at least I won’t die a violent death somewhere.”

The Southern Continent was a place of danger from the moment you set foot on it.

It was a place where I couldn’t let my guard down even for a moment so I needed to build up my strength as much as possible before going.

Zeke started swinging his sword again.

    * * *

Zeke who had been training in Valhalla and the training ground finally received the call he had been waiting for.

The first contact was from Cliff.

The first demand that Zeke had mentioned was ready.

The second contact was from Kay of the Syndicate.

She contacted us to say that she would accept Zeke’s offer.

He met Kay after disguising himself as Zeke Murray to deal with the Syndicate’s business first.

It was a high-class lounge operated by the syndicate where the identity of its users was thoroughly guaranteed.

When I entered the bar an attendant was waiting for me.

“Mr. Zeke Murray please come this way.”

It was a place where only VVIPs not regular guests could go.

All sorts of security spells were put in place from the entrance to the area.

When he entered the lounge Kay was sitting in the middle waiting for him.

    “Come in.”

Kay happily welcomed her partner Zeke.

    Zeke sat next to Kay.

“I didn’t know there was a place like this in Atlas.”

When Zeke of the previous life came to Atlas Atlas had already become an imperial territory.

The scenery of Atlas which had suffered great damage from the war was very different from today so it was a new experience.

Kay said as she poured a drink into Zeke’s glass.

“It’s one of the syndicate’s side businesses. Anyone who does business in the shadows needs a place to talk privately.”

Zeke glanced at the drink Kay had poured for him and shook his head.

“I don’t drink alcohol. Next time I’d like you to prepare tea for me.”

At those words Kay laughed as if she found it unexpected.

“You’re not saying you can’t drink because you’re still a minor are you?”

“I don’t feel any particular excitement even after drinking it so I just don’t drink it.”

Even in his previous life Zeke didn’t enjoy drinking much.

Moreover I don’t get drunk no matter how much I drink now perhaps because of the healing factor.

I thought that there was no point in spending money on expensive alcohol so I would rather drink my favorite tea.

At those words Kay smiled and clapped his hands. A servant came into the room and Kay ordered tea for Zeke.

Zik looked satisfied as he sipped the expensive tea that had just arrived.

    “The service is good.”

“Let me know if you need anything else. The desserts and food here are delicious too.”

“That wasn’t necessary. I thought it would take longer than that but you made up your mind sooner than I thought.”

At those words Kay changed her posture and took on a serious expression.

“I had many thoughts but I made up my mind after seeing your Northern Bank stuff. I had a strong feeling that you would really be able to do it.”

Kay gulped down the strong drink in front of her in one go.

“Whew I’m going to make the best bet of my life.”

He filled Kay’s glass with alcohol and clinked his teacup against hers.

“I won’t make you regret that bet.”

Zeke took out the document he had brought earlier and handed it to Kay.

    “what’s this.”

“Do you know Reinhart Trading Company?”

“If it’s Reinhart it’s a place that’s growing rapidly in the Alencia area. There are branches in the north and the south.”

“We’ve created a clean spot through that so this time when we go down south we plan to move around there as the center.”

Kay looked through the documents he had brought at Zeke’s words.

“Deputy Director of the Southern Continent Branch of Reinhart Trading Company?”

“It’s a disguise. I’ll go south via Reinhart’s route. Let’s make contact at that spot.”

Zeke needed to avoid the Syndicate’s gaze which was focused on Draker.

If it was a mask made by Reinhart who had no connection to either of them then it would have been possible to avoid the gaze of both places.

Kay nodded and packed up the documents.

“So. Let’s say you meet Don Juan like you said. What’s your plan then?”

In response to Kay’s question Zeke put down his teacup and said.

“Do you know anything about the favela cartels?”

Kay shook his head at Zeke’s question.

“Well not much is known about them. All I know is that they are a bunch of unlucky rough guys.”

    Zeke nodded at those words.

“It can’t be helped. They’re pirates.”

    “what?”

Kay was surprised by Zeke’s words.

“Pirates? Those damned bastards are settling down in the south and running a Soma business? That’s ridiculous. Pirates are not the type of people who would do something like that.”

“That’s why no one noticed the identity of the Favela Cartel. Otherwise how could such a huge organization operate in such a small southern land without being exposed?”

After hearing what Zeke said it sounded plausible.

As soon as he realized that Kay’s expression distorted.

“Could it be that the favela cartel guys have been putting pressure on us all this time… to take over our transport routes?”

“Bingo. Those South Sea pirates are such bastards.”

    “ha.”

Kay sighed as he learned the truth about the Favela Cartel.

Syndicate executives were currently debating whether to continue dealing with McCain or to move to the favela.

If we had moved to the favela without knowing anything our transportation route would have been taken over by pirates and we would have been subject to retaliation from the McCain Cartel.

In fact in the timeline before Zeke’s return the McCain Cartel had noticed the identity of the Favela Cartel and sent hitmen and killers to wage war against them.

Thanks to this the syndicate was not absorbed into the favela cartel but it ended up becoming a lackey of the McCain cartel.

    Zeke said to Kay.

“What if I tell Don Juan this? That the Favela Cartel is a band of pirates and that the Syndicate bosses are trying to make a deal with them.”

    Then Kay was surprised.

“Are you asking me to be your snitch?”

“You can just sweep away all the executives and become the boss anyway so why bother pushing them around?”

It was Zeke who said scary things so casually.

Kay now had a real sense of what he had gotten himself into.

She thought about it for a moment then picked up the bottle and drank it in one gulp.

“Whew. Okay let’s try something like that.”

“Okay. Then there’s something I need to do first.”

    “What to do?”

    Zeke said looking at Kay.

“Soma imported from McCain. Tell me where the warehouse is where it is stored.”
