    Episode 404

“Zeke said clutching his pounding head.

“…Richmond I told you to repair the ship. When did you tell me to build something like this demon warship?”

Richmond said with a proud expression.

“Hehehe isn’t it great? I put a lot of effort into upholding the master’s dignity.”

Unlike the oblivious Richmond Bane caught Zeke’s distorted expression and walked over to him and spoke.

“Master! I tried to stop you somehow but you said that you would like it if I did it this way…”

It was Bain who made excuses for leaving Richmond to live alone.

Zeke pointed to the ice blades that were tightly packed into the side of the ship and the huge ice horns that decorated the front of the ship.

“Why did you put something like that on the Bane ship?”

Then Bane said his skull mouth moving.

“I thought it would be cool to put something like that up to hide Senior Richmond’s hideous bones!”

It seems that this disaster occurred because they were trying to cover up their strange tastes with strange tastes.

‘It’s my fault for leaving it to those from Nirvana who are far from common sense.’

Zeke sighed and jumped onto the boat.

The inside was more of an ordinary deck than I thought.

‘Well a big ship would be better than a ferry boat.’

With a positive mind Zig unleashed a field of wind power to move the boat toward the sea.

    Choaaaak!

The ship went out to sea riding the wind.

As the fishermen said the boat rocked violently as the waves crashed even though we were not far from the shore.

As the name Storm Sea suggests strong winds blew as if they would capsize the boat.

‘The wind is blowing against the ship so the boat won’t go forward.’

After folding the sails Zeke summoned Nahuel for the first time in a long while.

    Kurururururu―

The summoned Nahuel let out a pleasant cry towards Zeke.

“I’m sorry for ordering you around as soon as I summoned Nahuel. I need your help to get through this storm.”

After hearing Zeke’s words Nahuel nodded and pulled the boat forward pushing through the waves and wind.

At that moment a message appeared before Zeke’s eyes.

[With the title of Sea God stabilize the rough seas with your glory.]

[The title of the God of the Sea’s Grace is linked to that of the Lord of the Sea Nahuel. The scope of the God of the Sea’s Glory is expanded.]

[The stabilization range is expanded with the title fairy’s blessing.]

Thanks to the power of the title that Zeke possessed the waves around his ship calmed down and the wind did not blow as strongly.

Thanks to this Nahuel was able to pull the boat a little more easily.

‘Thank goodness. I didn’t know a title would be effective in a place like this.’

It seemed like we would be able to reach the storm castle more easily than expected.

The ship led by Nahuel then quickly headed towards the stormy sea.

Zeke decided to spend some time meditating in his cabin until they reached the Storm Castle.

Zig who was meditating with his eyes closed looking for a clue to move on to a new realm suddenly felt a strange sensation and snapped out of his trance opening his eyes wide.

    ‘what?’

He went straight up onto the deck.

Time-wise the day had passed and the sun should have risen in the morning but the sky was covered with thick dark clouds so the surroundings were still dark.

Thanks to his title the area outside of Zeke’s ship unaffected by the stormy seas was free from rough waves and raging winds.

Zeke looked around carefully and discovered an island beyond the rough waves.

    ‘Is that a storm castle?’

The ship led by Nahuel was gradually approaching the visible island.

    But then it happened.

    Kugugugugugugu―

Something began to rise from the bottom of the rough sea.

    ‘Something is coming up.’

Zeke sensed an ominous aura and took out Bahamut.

    Gooooooooo!

It was a terrible roar as if it were coming from the depths of hell.

Something huge rose above the water with him.

    “octopus?”

What rose from the sea was an octopus leg so huge that it was difficult to estimate its size.

Each octopus leg stretched upward like a tower rising upright in all directions around the boat that Zig was on.

If those legs were to be thrust down towards the ship at any moment I didn’t think I would be able to endure it no matter how much title I was protected by.

Zig raised his mana as he looked at the giant octopus legs rising up like a tower.

‘Surely this isn’t the storm monster from the story.’

A monster that was chased by the King of Heroes and was trapped on an island breaking promises and bringing violent storms.

Zeke tensed as he looked at the legs of a giant monster whose size he could not even guess.

At that moment a message appeared before Zeke’s eyes again.

[Hello Admin. Welcome to the deep-sea city of ‘L’Ryue’ where the constellation ‘Master of Great Dreams’ resides.]

‘The city of the deep sea L’Rueira.’

Zeke thought of Blanca the golden city where Hades was imprisoned.

Just like Blanca the ancient city protected by the constellation was the source of the Storm Castle.

A giant portal appeared in front of the island with a message.

    Wooooow!

Richmond and Bane who were watching from next to Zeke looked back and forth between the giant octopus leg and the portal with fear.

“My lord there is something strange here.”

“It’s an unknown place. It would be better to go back…”

Zeke ignored the advice of the fearful Liches and sailed the ship straight into the portal.

    “Eww! My lord!”

    “Is this how I die?”

Bane who had already died and become a lich was talking nonsense.

Zeke’s ship entered the portal and disappeared in an instant.

At the same time the giant octopus leg that had appeared also disappeared back into the sea.

    * * *

    ‘uh?’

After passing through the portal Zeke opened his eyes in a space he had never seen before.

It was a completely new place not the ship I was on.

All sides were made of transparent glass and surprisingly the outside was a view of the ocean.

The colorful marine life and beautiful coral reefs seen for the first time created a fantastic yet unfamiliar amazing sight.

    ‘Where is this?’

Zeke first tried to find traces of the summoned creatures Richmond and Bane but he couldn’t detect any.

Nahuel was the same and he guessed that this was no ordinary space.

‘Have I entered the spirit world? Or… maybe it’s my own domain like the inverted tower.’

At that moment someone approached Zeke.

“Zeke Draker I’m so sorry for making you come all the way here.”

A tall man appeared wearing an ashen robe.

I couldn’t see his face because he was wearing a hood but his voice and speech gave off a sense of experience.

    “Come sit over here.”

The moment he said that a table appeared where there was nothing.

Not only did it appear suddenly but it was a table made of a material he had never seen before neither metal nor wood so Zik still couldn’t guess what this place was.

Zick sitting down spoke to the man.

“Are you the leader of the Highlanders?”

The man nodded at those words.

“Yes. I am the one who said that he wanted to meet you through the story of Nabu No.”

Zeke first heard the name of the hermit through the chief but he didn’t show it.

As the chieftain stretched out his hand a teacup and a teapot appeared on the table.

He poured steaming tea into a cup.

As the tea was poured the teacup moved on its own towards Zig.

Zik stared blankly at the teacup then took a sip savoring the aroma.

    “The tea tastes really good.”

At Zeke’s words the chief also nodded while drinking tea.

“It’s a type of tea that you can’t taste in this day and age.”

“This era… Could it be that this space right now is a time period from the past?”

The chief shook his head at those words.

“The ability to move the timeline is Chronos’ unique power. Even I cannot touch it.”

Zeke asked out of curiosity but surprisingly the leader of the Highlanders knew about Chronos’ power to manipulate time.

    ‘What on earth is it?’

The chief put down his teacup and looked at Zig.

“The reason I called you here is not only because I wanted to see for myself but also to ask for your cooperation in stopping what is happening on the continent right now.”

Zeke said looking at the chief.

“I know the Highlanders are an organization that hunts demons.”

The chief shook his head at those words.

“Hunting demons is not our only job. The Highlanders’ purpose is to maintain the balance of the phenomenal world.”

“The balance of the phenomenal world? Why would the Highlanders do such a thing? I know they aren’t forming an organization to gain any particular benefit.”

“Profit. That is a very relative and human-centered concept.”

As the leader waved his hand a continental map appeared on the table.

It appeared not only in the Central Continent the Northern Continent and the Southern Continent but also in the Eastern Continent across the sea.

The chief spoke while looking at the map.

“We have been chasing the Abyss for a very long time. Ever since the Demon King was sealed his followers have been hiding in the shadows of the world waiting for their time to come.”

Zeke was surprised to hear the chief’s words.

‘So Highlanders have existed ever since the Demon King was sealed?’

Zeke had no idea that the Highlander’s history was so long.

But when I think about the transcendent strength of his teacher Nigel it makes some sense.

As the leader waved his hand again black spots appeared all over the continent.

“The Abyss seeks out the gaps in the world and burrows into them. Greed desire jealousy laziness and all negative emotions are good driving forces for them. The Abyss uses this to divide the world and cause conflict.”

“The Highlander was preventing such a hellish conspiracy?”

“Yes we have many different names. One of them is related to your mother Laura Agamemnon.”

Zeke’s eyes shook as he heard the chief’s words.

“Could it be… that the Dawn Society was also a Highlander organization?”

“I told you. Our purpose is to restore balance to the phenomenal world. The activities of the Dawn Society are also just a part of what we do. Hunting demons and protecting forbidden things are in the same context.”

It was something that Zigg had never expected that the Dawn Society had the same roots as the Highlanders.

He said looking at the chief.

“So then is the Highlander’s ultimate goal to completely destroy the Demon King?”

The leader was silent for a moment at those words.

Then he slowly opened his mouth and said.

“The complete annihilation of the Demon King. In a way it makes sense in the sense that it preserves the balance of the phenomenal world.”

Zeke felt a little tired of the chief’s zen-like conversation style.

The chief looked at Zeke and said perhaps reading his expression.

“Zeke Draker from what I’ve seen you have a clear goal and move accurately and efficiently to achieve it. That’s a strength you have that I don’t have. I’ve been living for too long so I always think too much. I hesitate and end up missing opportunities.”

He paused for a moment as if gathering his thoughts then opened his mouth again.

“So I would like to leave this job to you.”

    “What are you talking about?”

As the leader waved his hand again a three-dimensional figure appeared on the table.

A man wearing a black robe.

Zig looked at the figure and asked the chief.

    “Who is this?”

The leader slowly opened his mouth.

“I am the priest of the abyss.”

Zig frowned and glared at the three-dimensional Priest of the Abyss.

    The leader continued speaking.

“He has been leading the Abyss for a long time and has created the current power. The hermits of High Table including myself have joined forces to try to stop him somehow but most of us have limited movement and have been unable to properly stop him.”

“Is this priest the one who is joining hands with Siemens to resurrect the Demon King?”

“Yes. He has been obsessed with the power of immortality for a long time. His goal was to obtain the Book of the Dead which contains the power of the Demon King and create an immortal.”

Something flashed through Zeke’s mind as he heard the chief’s words.

‘Immortal? Experiments in creating an immortal….’

A report on an experiment to create an immortal that involved human transmutation techniques that were close to taboo.

This reminds me of what I saw in Nirvana’s system information.

Then the leader opened his mouth.

“The true identity of the Priest of the Abyss is Harvey West. He was once a brilliant doctor and one of the necromancers of Nirvana.”
