    Episode 402

Carmilla’s eyes widened at Zeke’s words.

“Are you talking about Miss Laura?”

“Yes Carmilla I would also like to know about your relationship with your mother.”

    Carmilla nodded.

    “Okay. Miss and I….”

“I think this is going to be a long story so get ready to talk comfortably.”

Zeke took out a table and chair from his inventory and tried to listen to Carmilla’s story comfortably within the barrier of Richmond and Bane.

He even made some tea for me and prepared to listen to the story leisurely.

    “Thank you Your Majesty.”

“I really can’t get used to the word king. It would be better to call me lord.”

    “Understood Your Majesty.”

    “….”

Carmilla who was sitting down slowly opened her mouth and began to speak not paying attention to Zeke’s flustered face.

    “Miss Laura is my savior.”

    “Did your mother save you?”

“Yes. There was a time about 50 years ago when the Empire carried out a large-scale vampire hunt.”

Carmilla was leading a vampire group that was the predecessor of Red Eye at the time but she said that it was not as powerful as it is now.

“At that time the organization was led by mainly running a dance hall centered around female vampires.”

Carmilla explained that while it is now rare to find a dance hall where you can see performances by beautiful vampire dancers it was not difficult to find one in each city 50 years ago.

As a result when the vampire hunt began the first place to be attacked was this dancing hall.

And so Carmilla who was running a dancing house also ended up being chased by the knights of the empire.

Even if she had the power of a true spirit it would be impossible for her to deal with hundreds of knights using aurors.

It is said that Carmilla was eventually captured while being pursued by the Empire.

“Lady Laura was already active in the Dawn Society at that time. The Dawn Society carried out relief activities for the freedom of not only the Luverne clan but also non-human races and by good fortune I was able to be rescued through those activities.”

She said that after being rescued by Laura she was able to regain her strength with the help of the Dawn Society.

And then to repay the favor he volunteered to be her bodyguard.

“Miss Laura said it wasn’t necessary but it was something I decided on my own.”

Zeke could see why she was with Laura Agamemnon at the museum.

‘So you had a connection with the Yeomyeonghoe.’

He suddenly began to have questions about the organization called the Dawn Society.

At first I thought they were simply a group with the goal of saving Luverne’s bloodline but after hearing Carmilla’s words it seemed like that wasn’t necessarily the case.

I asked her more about the Dawn Society but Carmilla said she knew nothing more about it.

‘I thought it was organized by Fab Kyung but was it active before that?’

According to Carmilla’s story it seems that the lineage of the Order of the Dawn may have been passed down for quite some time.

Zick put aside his thoughts about the Dawn Society and asked his mother what he was most curious about.

“Why on earth did my mother marry Arthur Draker the man she hated so much?”

Carmilla looked complicated at that question.

But she couldn’t avoid Zeke’s questions so she opened her mouth slowly.

“…there was a revelation from Kronos.”

Zeke felt his breath catch for a moment when he heard Carmilla’s words.

“Was it because of the revelation that your mother was forced to marry Arthur Draker?”

Clearly Laura Agamemnon hated Arthur Draker. Zeke knew that feeling even more clearly because he had met him in person.

But it was hard to believe that Laura Agamemnon who had a clear opinion of herself would marry a man she hated simply because of a revelation from Cronus.

    Carmilla opened her mouth slowly.

“The reason Miss Laura accepted this was because she believed that if she married Arthur Drake the curse on the Agamemnon family would be lifted.”

“The curse of the house of Agamemnon?”

The curse of the Agamemnon family that had lasted for over 50 years was finally purified and disappeared by the hands of Zeke.

He remembered how the Agamemnon family had rejoiced at the fulfillment of the prophecy that a black-eyed savior would end the curse and that it was Laura who had made that prophecy.

It is possible that the time dragon Kronos had told Laura that Zeke would lift the curse in the future.

‘I decided to marry the man I hated in order to break the family curse…’

Zeke clenched his fist without realizing it.

Like Bacchus he never felt any paternal affection for Arthur Draker.

On the other hand seeing Laura Agamemnon in person was a moment that took him back in time but it made him feel even more drawn to her.

That’s why my heart sank when I found out that she was in a marriage she didn’t want.

Zeke tried to calm his mind and looked at Carmilla as he spoke.

“Putting that aside why did you Carmilla marry Arthur Draker?”

Carmilla bit her lip slightly and then slowly opened her mouth.

“I first entered the Draker household as Lady Laura’s maid. Then Arthur Draker who discovered that I had the power of revelation coveted it.”

“Is it because of that ability that I bound you and made you give birth to Bacchus?”

    Carmilla nodded.

“Arthur Draker is a manipulative and fearsome man. He is skilled at swaying people’s souls and moving their hearts with offers and conditions they simply cannot refuse.”

She paused and shivered for a moment.

“…It’s embarrassing now but the truth is I fell for Arthur Draker’s whispers and felt feelings of love for him.”

Zeke was startled by Carmilla’s words.

“At first you sympathized with Arthur Draker because you loved him.”

“Yes vampires are a race that is considered a symbol of sensuality and seduction… but I ended up falling for the devilish being called Arthur Draker.”

Arthur Drake was not only a strong knight but also a brilliant strategist and politician.

Not only was he excellent at speaking but he was also attractive in appearance.

It was a public fact that he had numerous women as mistresses in addition to his several wives.

It was surprising that even the vampire queen Carmilla fell for Arthur Draker’s charm.

“You know what happened next. After being bound by him I was unable to escape the Draker family but with the help of Bacchus I was resurrected and barely managed to escape.”

Through Carmilla’s words Zeke felt like he had caught a glimpse of Arthur Draker’s other side.

‘Arthur Draker already stands at the top of the continent as the head of the Draker family. Yet he continues to yearn for something.’

Zeke had a hard time getting a feel for what Arthur Draker wanted.

Then Carmilla took something out of her bosom and handed it to Zeke.

“And I kept this aside because I thought it would be better to give it to the king.”

What Carmilla handed over was an old leather notebook.

    ‘What is this…?’

Zeke took the leather notebook and flipped through the pages.

The name was written in a familiar font.

    ‘Laura Agamemnon… Mother’s notebook.’

It was Zeke who had been trying to find Laura Agamemnon’s hideout hidden in the north in order to find this notebook. But in fact Carmilla had this notebook.

“After Miss Laura disappeared I packed all the important items and left them with Sir Fab just in case. This time when we moved the headquarters to the neutral city I took out the things I had stored in the hideout in the northern continent and packed them with me so if you need anything please let me know.”

Zeke felt his emotions waver when he saw the notebook with his mother’s handwriting still intact.

It was a rare occurrence for Zeke who always maintained a cool and calm mind.

He kept Laura Agamemnon’s notebook carefully and said to Carmilla.

“Thank you. For protecting my mother’s notebook.”

“Laura you are my savior in life. I still miss you so much.”

Zeke could tell from the look on her sad face that she was sincere.

With his doubts resolved Zeke unsummoned Richmond and Bane and lifted the barrier.

    Then he said to Carmilla.

“First focus on making the power of the Royal Vampire yours. When the time comes I will call you again. Until then keep in touch through Bacchus.”

    “Understood Your Majesty.”

“One more thing. From now on call me lord not king.”

Carmilla looked troubled at Zeke’s words but soon nodded.

    “Understood my lord.”

Next Zeke turned his head and pointed to Ikeros who was huddled in a corner of the room.

“By the way if I take that will I be able to use it somehow?”

Carmilla nodded glancing around at the superior Mongmaine Ikeros.

“There are surprisingly many uses for dreaming. Even those who don’t speak out loud are honest in their dreams.”

“You want to use the dream horse to find out information?”

“If you are a high-level dreamer you can create dreams that are similar to reality so you can extract more accurate information.”

Zeke nodded after hearing Carmilla’s words.

    He called Ikerus.

At Zeke’s call Ikeros crawled straight to the ground.

    “Did you call Master?”

He pointed to Carmilla and said to Ikeros.

“I will leave you in Carmilla’s hands. Whatever she says is my order. From now on follow the Vampire Queen’s orders. Understood?”

Ikeros felt his pride hurt when he followed Carmilla a vampire of a lower rank than himself but he had no choice because it was his master’s order.

    “Oh I understand master.”

    Zeke said to Carmilla.

“I’ve given you the order so from now on you’ll be able to use it well. I’ll send the other sleepwalkers with you.”

“Thank you for your consideration my lord.”

Carmilla turned her head and looked down at Ikeros.

“By my lord’s command from today onwards I am your master Ikeros. Call me Queen Carmilla.”

As befitting the queen of vampires Carmilla who had become an adult possessed a seductive yet overwhelming aura. Furthermore having absorbed the dagger of Garin and the power of the ancient bloodline wizard she easily subdued Ikeros.

The dignity of a royal vampire a noble of the demon world has already been oozing out of his body.

Even the high-ranking Mongma Ikeros was overwhelmed by Carmilla’s atmosphere and forgot all the complaints he had until just now.

“I will follow your orders Queen Carmilla.”

Looking at Carmilla like that Zeke thought that it was a good idea to leave Ikeros to her.

    * * *

Zeke decided to spend the night at the vampires’ hideout and return to Himonas in the morning.

Entering the warm solitary cell prepared separately by Bacchus Zeke found some free time for the first time in a while.

But there was no time to rest easy.

‘There were two special random boxes that I hadn’t opened yet.’

As Zeke was about to open the special random box one thing crossed his mind.

‘Can’t we strengthen the special random box to create a higher grade box?’

Most of the items that come out of special random boxes are of unique grade.

However since legendary-grade artifacts came out of random boxes of higher grades than this Zik had no choice but to want a higher-grade random box.

Just in case he opened the system window opened the reinforcement window and placed the random box on top of it.

    “Huh? It really works!”

I did this half-jokingly but it really was possible to raise the level of random boxes through reinforcement.

“If you want to make a random box out of a grade… you need five special random boxes and a lot of other things.”

It seemed like I could somehow get the other items.

The problem was the special random box.

“I have two now so I should get three more. Ha… If I had known this would happen I would have just left the other special random boxes alone.”

It was a shame because one legendary artifact was worth much more than five unique ones.

But regretting it wouldn’t change anything so Zeke put his regret aside and kept the box in his inventory for now.

Then I lay down on the bed and flipped through the notebook Laura Agamemnon had left behind and read its contents.

Most of it was about the activities of the Dawn Society and there were also some parts about the Apocrypha that Arina had mentioned.

As he looked through the notebook Zeke realized one thing.

‘Mother… you’re the type of person who isn’t good at organizing things.’

The notebook was written in a rather disorganized manner making it quite difficult to sort through the information and understand it individually.

As he was skimming through the contents to check for sure Zeke noticed that a folded piece of paper had fallen out of the notebook.

    ‘what?’

It was quite old paper with a rough surface.

Zig unfolded the paper and looked at its contents then sat up in surprise.

    ‘This… can be done!’

The reason he was surprised was because the route marked on the map was unusual.

‘A route that goes beyond the Dark Sea to the Dark Continent.’

Zeke knew the man who left this trail.

‘Captain Kidd the legendary pirate and the master of the triangle.’
