A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 399

Episode 399
Whoosh whoosh!
Zeke used his power of salt to break through the thick ice wall and headed towards the direction the key’s light was pointing to.
The eternal snow as hard as steel was very difficult to handle so Zeke could only sigh in relief at being able to use the power of salt.
It is said that in ancient times there was a technology to process this eternal snow to make weapons but now that tradition has been lost and it is now only passed down as a legend.
Zeke went into the Eternal Snow Cave with Carmilla and her group.
The ceiling and walls were covered in sharp ice fragments that looked pretty but there was a risk of getting cut or stabbed if you were not careful.
It was very dangerous here because if you got hurt the tissue would immediately die from the terrible cold and the body would have to be amputated.
Still the light from the key pointed them in the direction of continuing down the cave so they could not stop walking.
As he carefully descended down the ice cave Zeke soon discovered a long hallway.
‘It is a trace of ancient ruins.’
It was an artificially created corridor not a naturally formed cave.
What was unusual was that the structure was made using perennial snow rather than stone or wood.
It was an amazing technology that processed and stacked perennial snow like bricks.
‘With this level of technology it would be possible to make weapons out of perennial snow.’
It was unclear how long the perennial snow would last in warmer regions but it seemed likely that it would be useful at least in the north.
As he walked along the corridor made of ice walls and floors looking around at the mysterious sight Zeke suddenly felt something ahead.
‘A Guardian?’
If it was Caligula’s tomb made by an Elder Dragon I would have expected that there would be a guardian to block outsiders.
But what appeared in front of Zeke was not a guardian.
Tsk tsk tsk―
White snowflakes began to fly around Ziggy in a chaotic manner.
Carmilla was surprised to see this and said:
“The spirit of the eye… It’s hard to see it these days. How fascinating.”
When Zig realized that they were snow spirits he observed them closely. However the snow spirits were particularly circling around Zig.
Niki who had been looking at it with envy approached it and tried to touch it but the snow spirits avoided her touch.

Carmilla shook her head when she saw this.
“We are beings who deal with spirits so the spirits don’t like us very much. But it seems that the spirits especially like Zeke Draker. Even among humans it’s quite rare to find someone who is loved by the spirits.”
After hearing Carmilla’s words Zeke had an inkling of something.
‘I guess it’s because of the Elemental Sword. Because it can control the elemental power the power of nature.’
But Zeke didn’t say anything special and just kept moving forward.
As he progressed snow spirits appeared in various places in the ruins and wherever he went Zig was welcomed by the spirits.
Niki looked at Zig with envious eyes but there was nothing he could do.
As they walked down the hallway facing the eye spirits a giant door appeared in front of Zeke and his group.
Zeke could feel a strong dragon’s energy at the door.
‘Is this the power of the Elder Dragon?’
Carmilla stepped forward stood at the door and extended her hand.
She muttered something in gore and drew on the power of her blood magic.
But the tightly closed door did not move at all.
Carmilla said frowning.
“I think this door was created by someone other than a vampire.”
Bacchus said looking at Carmilla.
“Can’t you open it even with your mother’s power?”
Carmilla nodded.
“Aside from the fact that the system is completely different… the level of magic itself is different. Even if we bring all the magicians of Nirvana I don’t know if they will be able to interpret the magic on this door.”
At those words Bacchus’ expression hardened.
“If it’s that level of magic isn’t it magic that a dragon cast?”
Carmilla nodded.
“If it was sealed by the Elder Dragon as Zeke said then it must have been his magic.”
While Carmilla and Bacchus were seriously discussing magic at the door Zeke logged into the system.
‘System open that door.’

As soon as the message notified permission the door which had been firmly shut began to open sideways.
Kugugugugugu―
I felt a huge cold air emanating from inside.
As Zeke approached him Carmilla opened her mouth in disbelief at the suddenly open door.
“Oh no how did you open that door…?”
Zeke said scratching his head.
“It opened just by touching it.”
At his words Carmilla’s eyes shook violently.
“It opened when I touched it? What the… Wait is it related to the Fairy King’s blessing? The door itself recognizes the blessing and opens and closes automatically….”
Zeke gestured towards her fearing that if Carmilla delved any deeper she would just be wasting time and getting tired.
“The door is open so you might as well go in. It might close again right away.”
At Zeke’s words the group quickly went inside the door.
The inside of the ruins was colder than the outside.
Even vampires who are strong against the cold felt the chills.
Caligula’s tomb like the outside was a structure made of perennial snow.
The walls were decorated in an ancient style resembling the golden city of Blanca where Hades was imprisoned.
‘Was this place created during the age of the constellations?’
If it was the age of the constellations it would make sense that they had the technology to process perennial snow.
While looking around the beautiful tomb of Caligula which seemed to be made of crystal Zeke and his party went further inside.
Then a hollow appeared and in its midst stood a huge altar.
Everyone’s eyes were captivated by its beautiful temple-like appearance.
Zeke spoke to Carmilla next to him.
“I think it would be better for just the two of us to go here.”
Carmilla nodded to Zeke’s words.
After leaving Ikeros in Bacchus’ care Zeke climbed the steps of the altar with Carmilla.
After climbing hundreds of steps we reached the altar where there was a coffin in the middle tied tightly with chains.
Carmilla shivered as she looked at the coffin.
“The Coffin of Caligula. The legend was true.”
Zeke approached the coffin with Carmilla.
She nodded looking at the chained coffin.
“I can definitely feel the vampire’s power here.”
She spoke softly and took out a dagger from her bosom.
Then he cut his own palm with a dagger and dropped the blood onto the coffin.
As I closed my eyes and recited the spell in Gore the blood that fell on the coffin began to move on its own and change into geometric shapes.
It gradually widened and spread throughout the tube.
Kookookookook―
As Carmilla’s spell intensified at one point the coffin began to vibrate.
Clank clank―
The chains surrounding the coffin moved noisily.
However only vibrations occurred and no significant changes occurred in the coffin.
Sweat formed on Carmilla’s forehead as she recited the order.
She made a vow and concentrated all her strength to break the seal on the coffin.
But then something sudden happened.
Quaching!
Carmilla who had been tied up with Suin was thrown away by the force of the rebound.
Whee!
Zeke flew straight up and caught Carmilla floating in the air.
Then he landed safely on the ground.
Bacchus and Niki who had been watching the scene came running quickly.
“mother!”
Zeke took Carmilla’s hand and used his healing factor while observing her complexion.
Fortunately there didn’t seem to be any serious injuries.
Carmilla slowly opened her eyes.
She said in a trembling voice.
“The being inside the coffin is not the king of vampires or anything like that.”
Bacchus asked Carmilla in surprise.
“What do you mean Mother? Caligula is not the King of Vampires.”
Carmilla said barely able to sit up.
“It was something more than a snake vampire. I think I know why it was sealed in a place like this. Just looking at the sealed body seemed to destroy my mind…”
Carmilla who was barely able to continue speaking lost consciousness after saying those words.
When Zeke quickly checked Carmilla’s condition he saw that she had simply fainted due to extreme mental shock.
Bacchus and Niki’s already pale faces turned even paler.
Zig who had been watching them for a while slowly got up from his seat.
Bacchus said to Zeke in surprise.
“Are you planning to break Caligula’s seal?”
“I can’t just turn back after coming this far.”
Bacchus jumped up from his seat.
“Even the true mother could not overcome Caligula’s power! How can you a human possibly handle that power!”
Zeke looked back at Bacchus and said.
“What would happen if this power fell into the hands of Siemens or Arthur?”
Carmilla had already seen in her dreams what it would be like if someone else had acquired Caligula’s power.
The sight she saw in her dream was horrific.
After gaining Caligula’s power Cain fully revealed himself and massacred the humans of the Central Continent.
It was just that Zeke didn’t know because his identity was hidden and it happened. The countless massacres in his past life must have started from him.
Bacchus couldn’t bring himself to answer Zeke’s words.
Zeke took that as another answer turned around and climbed back up onto the altar.
The coffin unlike before was sleeping quietly.
‘A being beyond a vampire.’
Zeke slowly approached the coffin.
Then he raised the power of his bloodshot eyes.
Tsk tsk tsk―
A third red eye appeared on his forehead.
Zeke tried to break the seal on the coffin with the power of his bloodshot eyes.
Ddddddddddd—
The coffin began to vibrate violently as Carmilla’s consciousness unfolded.
Zeke used the power of his bloodshot eyes to forcibly break the seal on the coffin.
Crunch! Crunch!
The chains shook much more violently than before.
Zeke pulled out Bahamut realizing that the chains were wrapped around the coffin preventing it from sealing.
Then he poured all his strength into it and swung it at the chains that were wrapping the coffin.
Quaddudduk—
The chains tightened around the coffin and tried to resist Zig’s full-force attack but they were unable to overcome Zig’s sword which contained the energy of ‘cutting’.
Eventually Bahamut cut the chains surrounding the coffin.
Chorrrrrr!
All the severed chains were sucked into the coffin.
After a while the coffin began to vibrate more strongly.
Ddddddddddddddd—
At the same time the altar and the entire tomb began to shake.
Zig raised the power of his bloodshot eyes.
But then it happened.
Ss …
Black smoke billowed out from inside the coffin.
The smoke enveloped Zeke in an instant.
My vision went dark and I couldn’t see anything.
‘It feels similar to the barrier used by the Knights of the Abyss.’
My vision was blocked and all my senses felt blocked.
Zeke activated his bloodshot eyes and searched for a gap in the barrier.
Kugugugugugu―
As Zeke’s consciousness which had found a gap through his bloodshot eyes dug into the inside of the barrier the surrounding environment changed.
‘Here?’
A huge hall decorated in a style I have never seen before.
However it was very old and broken in many places.
It looked like the palace of a fallen kingdom.
Crunch.
Zeke whose gaze was momentarily stolen by the unfamiliar sight turned his head toward the sound and saw someone sitting on a giant throne.
A man with chains around his hands and feet.
There was a very dangerous aura about the man.
Zeke slowly approached the throne.
The man sat on the throne with his long hair hanging down and his head bowed and did not react at all when Zeke approached him.
Zeke instinctively knew who this man was.
‘Caligula.’
Zeke had entered the consciousness of the sealed vampire king himself.
Zeke said to Caligula.
“King of the Vampires.”
Crunch!
There was the sound of chains clashing again.
Caligula who had been bowing his head slowly raised it.
Zeke was shocked when he saw Caligula’s face.
‘What’s that on your forehead…?’
Caligula raised his head and there was another eye on his forehead.
Caligula looked down at Zeke with a languid yet arrogant expression.
Then he slowly opened his mouth.
[Do you dare call me the king of the white-faced tribe that has so many shadows?]
Just opening my mouth made me feel the oppression weighing down my whole body.
He opened his mouth slowly.
[I am the great king of Shambhala and the ruler of all evil.]
Caligula’s eyes glowed red as he looked at Zeke.
[The true master of the Samjian clan is Blood King Caligula.]
