A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 388

Episode 388
Heeeeeeling!
A messenger quickly ran in front of the barracks of Grand Master Fretz Myce located in the center of the camp of the Knights of the Great Sea.
The messenger jumped down from his horse and hurried into Fretz Meis’s barracks.
“Captain! Urgent news from Rome!”
Fretz who was joking around with naked male slaves in the barracks frowned when he saw a messenger who suddenly came in.
He waved his hand as if telling the slaves to step aside then turned to the messenger with a displeased expression.
With white powder on his face and red lips Fretz looked like an actor from a theater.
He said still looking at the messenger with a dissatisfied expression.
“What urgent news did you suddenly receive from Rom?”
It was a voice full of annoyance at having their fun time interrupted.
The messenger delivered a telegram to Fretz.
He unfolded the telegram and read its contents quickly.
Then he immediately crumpled up the telegram and tore it into pieces.
“Damn it! How dare that warlock bastard treat the Imperial Army like an errand boy?”
The one who sent the letter to Fretz was none other than Lopocale a member of the ‘Slimy Pit of Darkness’ who was disguised as an apostle of the Abyss.
It was Fretz who was unhappy with Lopocale who was right behind Abel who had taken over Rom and was manipulating the Imperial Legions as he pleased.
Lopocale again ordered Fretz to take Barcal as soon as possible and then attack Mycenae where the house of Agamemnon was located.
Lopocale’s goal was to first attack Mycenae which could be said to be Zeke Drake’s stronghold and to distract him.
However Azmun Barrios the commander of the Magar Palace Knights who was strategizing the Imperial Legion thought differently.
‘If we touch Mycenae all the noble families in the central region will rise up so it doesn’t make sense to attack them first. It would be more beneficial to attack the Panstars of the Graham family or the neutral cities.’
Panstars was the financial center of the central region and the neutral city was the center of medicine production in the central continent.
It was easier to capture and the benefits to be gained from occupying it were considerable.
But in Mycenae’s case there was not much to be gained compared to the effort put in.
Moreover there was a high possibility of a counterattack since Sieg Draker the Black Knight and guardian knight of the Draker family was the successor to the House of Agamemnon.
In Lopocale’s case this order was given with the purpose of capturing Zeke Drake but from Fretz’s point of view there was no reason to take such a risk.

Fretz who was following Azmun ground his teeth at Lopocale’s orders.
‘How dare that black magician bastard who doesn’t even know X act like a commander of the legion.’
Fretz got up from his seat and went out of the barracks.
He looked at the walls of Barkal and asked his adjutant who had followed him.
“Has there been no answer from the Barkal Council yet?”
Barkal was an autonomous city governed by a council.
As it was a place where various races including humans and dwarves lived together council members representing each race and region had a say and decided the city’s policies.
Because of that it took quite some time for a decision to be made on a single agenda item. But now was not the time to compare it to such normal times.
Fretz had led his troops into battle and was requesting permission to enter the Barkal Council.
The superficial reason was that the city itself was in danger due to the appearance of a monster army on the northern continent so the imperial army offered to protect it.
But the Barkal Council could not have been unaware of Fretz’s transparent intentions.
They began to lock the gates and hold out quietly.
Fretz clicked his tongue and said after hearing the adjutant say that there was no answer from Barkal’s side.
“Well I guess this is enough of a wait. What can I do if he wants to drink the punishment himself?”
Fretz with a cruel smile on his face looked at the walls of Barkal.
Fretz who leads the Knights of the Great Sea Palace is a strong knight with the skills of a Red Knight but also has a cruel personality.
He was a character with an evil nature who would cruelly drive out those he judged to be weaker than him and then completely subjugate them.
The peaceful Barkal was an easy prey for him one he could conquer in two days.
Fretz ordered his adjutant.
“Contact the Warlocks. When the monsters attack Barkal they will kneel and ask for our help.”
“Okay sir.”
Fretz prepared to go into battle expecting Barkal to be trampled by the monster army.
But things turned out completely differently than Fretz had hoped.
At first a legion of monsters came down to attack Barkal as he had intended.
However before they could reach the Barkal walls another unit appeared to attack them and swept away the monsters in an instant.
Fretz gaped at the sight of the bull insignia engraved on their armor.
“Isn’t that the sentence of the turn-ons?”
It was incomprehensible that the Turn family which had established itself in Midland would suddenly appear in the Northern Continent.
While observing them in this absurd situation Fretz discovered a young knight leading the Knights of Thurn.
‘female…?’
Reina was charging forward with the knights of Tourn sweeping away the monsters like fallen autumn leaves.
Fretz quickly recognized her as Reina Draker Rex Turn’s daughter.
‘Why did those guys suddenly show up here?’
Before the Knights of the Great Sea Palace headed to the Northern Continent Azmun had warned Fretz not to confront the Northern Grand Duke of Himonas head-on if he ever appeared.
That’s why I was on guard the whole time wondering if Himonas might send knights but then the unexpected troops from Tourn came.
Fretz gritted his teeth as he watched Reina swing her sword like a flash.
‘You a newly minted blue knight dare to interfere with my plans?’

The sudden appearance of the Tourn force caused the monsters to retreat back into the mountains.
After the monsters retreated Reina turned her horse’s head towards the Knights of the Great Sea Palace and came forward shouting at them loudly.
“Reina Draker pureblood Awakened of Draker and successor of Thurn stands here to stop the monster army of the Northern Continent! Tell me why the Imperial Army is leading the army and threatening Barkal!”
Fretz realized that Reina had intercepted the cause he had been trying to take.
If they had killed the monsters themselves they would have had a justification for illegally occupying the area in front of Barkal Castle but in the current situation it would only seem like they were threatening Barkal.
Fretz glared at Reina Draker gritting his teeth.
“You cheeky bitch. You’re so arrogant you stinky brat.”
Although he said that Fretz was thinking furiously and calculating the difference in power between the Knights of Tourne and the Knights of the Sea Palace.
Although Reyna Drake herself was still a young girl the knights of Tourne behind her were not to be taken lightly.
Moreover there were many disadvantages to confronting them head-on with the city walls of Barkal behind them.
‘If you look at it this way and that the current situation is disadvantageous for us.’
Fretz had a cruel personality and hated seeing his powers being wasted.
After much thought he decided to set a trap to capture Rayna Draker instead of confronting her head on.
“Tell this to Rayna Draker. She wants to see it alone.”
When Fretz contacted them Reina responded positively.
In the end with the two camps facing each other they decided to make room in the middle and have Reina and Fretz face each other.
Between the two camps the two men faced each other on horseback.
Fretz said with a smile as he looked at Reina.
“I’ve heard a lot about Reyna Draker a talented writer. It’s nice to meet you.”
Looking at Fretz who approached her with a warm greeting Reina got straight to the point.
“Why are the Imperial troops stationed here? Barkal is a place recognized for its autonomy so the Empire has no right to interfere here.”
At that Fretz said in a sly voice.
“Of course. However Barkal is not capable of defending against a large-scale invasion. It would be undesirable if the citizens suffered from monster invasions. It was out of humanitarianism that the Empire dispatched troops to help them.”
“If that’s your purpose then I think it’s time to turn back now. Soon the Knight of Salvation Zeke Draker will lead his troops and come to defeat the monsters that have invaded the Northern Continent.”
Fretz was startled by the mention of Zig Drake.
‘He’s coming here?’
Zeke Draker the Black Knight and Draker’s Guardian Knight was the opponent they were most interested in at the moment.
‘If he leads the troops it is impossible to take Barkal under the pretext of monsters.’
Fretz realized that he had to somehow clear out Reina and enter Barkal before Zeke Draker arrived.
He said looking at Reina.
“The Knight of Salvation! I have always admired him.”
He continued.
“If that’s the case then it’s even better. With Lord Rayna’s help we can scout the Ogre Mountains and find the monsters’ strongholds. If we do that we’ll be able to wipe them out once the Knights of Salvation arrive.”
Reina listened to Fretz’s words thought about it for a while and then asked him.
“Have you figured out where the monsters are coming from?”
Fretz nodded and answered.
“Yes. I knew that but as I said before since Barkal’s defense level is lacking I couldn’t attack it directly because I was afraid it might cause a bigger problem. However if Lord Reyna and the knights of Tourn help it will definitely be possible.”
Reina who had been pondering Fretz’s words soon nodded.
“Okay. Then let’s go up to the Ogre Mountains together and kill the monsters.”
Fretz smiled deeply to himself as Reina was easily caught in the trap he had set.
* * *
Reina decided to lead the Knights of Turun and go up to the Ogre Mountains with the Knights of the Sea Palace.
The moment Fretz entered the area where the warlocks were waiting he was planning to strike Reina’s side and send more monsters to attack Baikal.
‘We’ll eliminate all the turds and take Barkal as soon as possible. If we get there first even Zeke Draker won’t be able to do anything.’
Soon the unit entered the barrier area set up by the warlocks and the knights reacted sensitively as if they sensed something strange.
Reina said as she looked at Pretz.
“Sir Fretz. This place… doesn’t feel right. Is there any other way?”
At those words Fretz shook his head and said.
“This is the only way. There is no other way. Don’t worry just go a little further.”
At those words Reina nodded as if she understood although her face looked uneasy.
Fretz chuckled at that sight.
‘What would an inexperienced little girl do? If she kills me here and gets attacked by monsters it’ll be resolved neatly.’
He led his troops deeper into the barrier realm.
Only Fretz who had been given a totem that made him immune to the effects of the Warlocks’ barriers was able to properly use his Aura here.
It was when I reached the complete center of the boundary area.
Woohoo!
Warlocks appeared all over the forest.
Reina was surprised to see this and shouted at the knights.
“The enemy! Prepare your defenses!”
The other knights drew their swords and then shouted in bewilderment.
“My lord! The aura won’t move!”
“Something is strange!”
In the midst of the confusion Reina turned to Fretz and said.
“Sir Fretz! What the…!”
Then Fretz drew his sword with a bitter smile.
An aura blade rose from his sword.
“Excessive resonance is poisonous.”
Without a moment’s hesitation Fretz swung his sword at Reina.
But then it happened.
Crunch!
The ordinary knight next to Reina stepped forward and grabbed Fretz’s sword with his bare hands.
Fretz who didn’t understand the situation for a moment looked at the article with a blank look.
But then the knight’s appearance changed.
Fretz recognized Zigg’s identity after seeing him release his shape-shifting magic.
“Jeez Jeez Draker!”
Before I knew it Zeke was swinging his arm while holding a huge hammer.
Fretz shouted in confusion.
“Hey wait a minute!”
With a crack of wind Fretz’s head was shattered into pieces.
