A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 385
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 385
Doo doo doo doo!
Zeke and his guide Niki rode in a carriage pulled by a ghost horse to the castle where Carmilla was staying.
Niki studied Zeke’s face the whole time they were riding in the carriage.
Under her persistent gaze Zeke finally opened his mouth.
“What are you looking at so intently?”
Then Niki turned her head away and did something else as if she had done nothing.
When Zeke looked out the window again at her actions Niki turned her head as before and looked at his face.
‘Is it because you’re a vampire? You have a unique personality.’
Since he had never had any connection with vampires in his past or present life Zeke just let it go.
The carriage ran for a long time and arrived at a castle standing alone on a hill.
Zeke who came down and looked around the castle looked at Niki and asked.
“Why do vampires always stay in places like this? Old monasteries and castles.”
Niki hesitated for a moment at Zeke’s question before opening his mouth.
“It’s dark and damp. It’s comfortable.”
“…?”
Mold isn’t the only thing that likes dark damp places.
Due to the nature of their race vampires cannot go out into bright sunlight.
That’s why I always preferred places that were cloudy dark and damp.
The North was a suitable place for vampires to live as it received little sunlight.
To begin with vampires with cold blood didn’t feel the cold very well.
Zeke felt that his answer was not sufficient but he went into the castle with Niki without saying much.
The castle seemed to have been abandoned for a long time and there was no trace of people whatsoever.
Niki skillfully navigated the darkness and entered the castle’s basement.
Zeke followed her down and discovered stone coffins scattered throughout the underground area.
‘Is this the catacombs?’

I didn’t know there was a space like this secretly hidden underground in Goseong.
Upon looking into it it seemed like this place itself was a safe house that vampires used to hide.
‘There are no houses or anything around here so if I sneak in no one will be able to find me.’
Nick and Zeke descended deeper into the ground past the sarcophagus.
And at some point a giant door appeared inside the underground cave.
Niki walked up to the door and signaled inside.
But then a message appeared before Zeke’s eyes.
[The resting place of the Baekmyeon tribe has been detected.]
[The shelter’s system has been destroyed and is not functioning properly.]
[The door opening/closing device is switched to manual.]
‘A haven for the white-faced?’
It was the name of a race I was hearing for the first time.
At that moment the sound of those inside opening the door was heard receiving Niki’s signal.
Drrrrrr!
The heavy machinery began to turn.
Soon the thick door opened slowly and Niki gestured towards Zeke.
He entered the door where Carmilla was waiting.
The inside of the sanctuary had the atmosphere of an ordinary mansion.
Although it was dark it didn’t feel gloomy and there were candles lit here and there.
Then I saw Bacchus walking from inside holding a candle.
“Come in.”
Bacchus personally greeted Niki and Zeke and guided them inside.
As I walked down the dark hallway there was a door at the end.
Bacchus said to Zeke.
“Mom is inside. Niki wait here.”
Nikki nodded and sat down on the chair next to him legs crossed a languid expression on her face.
Bacchus gestured for Zeke to follow him.
The two entered the room quietly.
Inside the room there was a huge bed that looked like it could fit several people and it was covered with a thick curtain.
Bacchus hung the candle he was holding on the wall and approached the bed.
“Mother Zeke Draker is here.”
Although the surroundings were dark Zeke was able to see into the darkness with his dragon’s eyes.
Because of that he recognized Carmilla rising from the bed inside the curtain.
‘huh?’
Then Zeke couldn’t help but be surprised when he saw Carmilla waking up from her bed.
‘You’re a kid right?’
A red-haired young girl who looked no older than ten yawned rubbing her sleepy eyes.

When Zeke turned to Bacchus he nodded and said.
“It may be hard to believe but your mother is right.”
“…?”
Bacchus shook his head and said to Zeke who was at a loss as to where to start pointing out his mistakes.
“When you go through the process of resurrection your body will gradually grow from a newborn. Three weeks ago your mother was still babbling so we waited until she could talk.”
Zeke’s eyes shook greatly at Bacchus’ words.
“So if I am resurrected my body will have to grow again from the beginning?”
“Yes because the original body disappears and has to grow again from scratch it is bound to be very weak in the early stages of resurrection. That is why my mother and I also had to be careful.”
Zeke could understand why Carmilla had not shown herself again.
Carmilla who was wearing a cute dress with lots of frills and rubbing her eyes as she got out of bed looked at Zeke and said.
“Ugh. I’m sleepy.”
Looking at his age it was definitely an age when he still slept a lot.
Bacchus spoke to Carmilla who was half-asleep and dazed.
“Mother Zeke Draker is here.”
Carmilla said rubbing her eyes again.
“…Zeke Draker?”
Carmilla who recognized Zeke but was still not awake spoke slowly and began to nod off.
Bacchus looked at Zeke as if he was in trouble.
“Because my mother’s body is still growing… her memories and mind are intact but because her body is still young the instinctive aspects of her age are inevitable.”
Bacchus took Carmilla and made her wash herself to wake her up.
While Carmilla came back after changing clothes Zeke waited for them both while drinking tea.
‘Growth begins again as a child. I didn’t know that the revival of Jinjo would be like this.’
It was actually a huge burden to have to lose my old body and start over with a completely new one.
Even though he was mentally and intellectually sound it was difficult to overcome his physical limitations that had not yet matured.
This is because physical strength muscle strength and elasticity at that age are bound to vary depending on the condition of the body.
When Zeke first regressed and had to rebuild his body from scratch he might have lost heart first if he hadn’t had strong mental defense skills.
Soon Carmilla dressed in a dress and with her hair braided appeared with Bacchus.
Bacchus picked up Carmilla and placed her on his lap then sat down across from Zeke.
Although Carmilla had a somewhat serious expression on her face she just looked like a cute little girl to Zeke.
Carmilla said looking at Zeke.
“I am Carmilla. I am the vampire queen.”
Although he spoke with a loud voice Carmilla’s eyes gradually turned away from Zeke and soon turned towards the refreshments on the table.
As she slowly reached out for the cookies Bacchus shook his head.
“No Mom. If you eat that now your teeth will rot.”
Carmilla looked disappointed and tearful at Bacchus’ words.
It seemed that since he was still physically a child he instinctively wanted sweets.
Zeke stared blankly at Carmilla then took out the eastern specialty pie that Helen had previously gifted him from his inventory and placed it in front of Carmilla.
“Wow this is so delicious!”
Carmilla looked up at Bacchus with pitiful eyes.
Bacchus unable to resist Carmilla’s bright eyes allowed her to eat.
She ate the pie that Zeke had taken out with relish munching on it in her mouth while Bacchus took care of Carmilla and wiped her mouth.
Zeke watched the scene and then said something.
“You take care of children much better than I thought. It seems like it’s your calling.”
“….”
Bacchus didn’t say anything and Carmilla who was full from eating a lot of pie leaned back on the sofa with a satisfied expression.
Zeke looked at Carmilla like that as if she was curious.
After a moment Carmilla turned her head towards Zeke and stared intently into his face.
“But is it really Zeke Draker?”
Bacchus who was standing next to him nodded and answered instead.
“That’s right Mother.”
Then Carmilla tilted her head and continued to stare at Zeke’s face.
“It’s strange. I’m sure I’ve seen it somewhere. It’s right…”
Carmilla continued to tilt her head and mutter.
Zeke who was watching it said to Bacchus.
“If he grew this much in just three weeks from being a baby it shouldn’t take that long to grow into an adult.”
Then Bacchus shook his head.
“The speed varies depending on the growth stage. From childhood to adolescence growth occurs quickly but after that the speed of growth gradually slows down. It takes several years to fully develop into an adult.”
Zeke nodded after hearing Bacchus’ words.
He said looking at Carmilla.
“Carmilla. Since the family I belong to is not ordinary it is not easy for parents and children to see each other. I think you may be mistaken but today is the first time we have met.”
Then Carmilla shook her head and said.
“No! I saw Zeke Draker when he was a baby! When he was a baby I gave him milk and sang him lullabies instead of Laura. He was small and cute.”
Zeke was startled by Carmilla’s words.
“You said you raised me when I was little?”
For a moment Carmilla’s expression darkened.
“Laura suddenly disappeared… and for some reason she left baby Zeke behind.”
Carmilla who had been mumbling soon began to sob and began to shed tears.
Bacchus hugged and comforted Carmilla who finally stopped crying. Carmilla sniffled and tried to eat the snacks on the table but Bacchus caught her and had to put them down again.
Zeke asked looking at the real Carmilla.
“Then does that mean my mother didn’t die right after giving birth to me?”
At those words Carmilla trembled and cried out.
“Laura is a healer! There’s no way she could die like that!”
It was something I had never thought about but after hearing Carmilla say it it made sense.
‘My mother had great healing abilities though not as much as I do. There’s no way she would die during childbirth like Carmilla said.’
Something felt off.
Then Carmilla clenched her hands like ferns and gritted her teeth as she spoke.
“Arthur Draker! He hurt Laura!”
Zeke came to his senses at Carmilla’s words and asked.
“What do you mean? Arthur Draker hurt your mother?”
Carmilla said her face turning bright red.
“Arthur Draker! He’s a bad guy! He can’t be trusted!”
Bacchus calmed down the excited Carmilla by comforting her again.
Zeke looked at the sight and spoke to Bacchus.
“It seems like you don’t have a very good feeling about Arthur Draker.”
Bacchus nodded.
“It is not because I love my mother that she married me and gave birth to me.”
“I don’t understand why you would marry a vampire when you didn’t have any affection for each other. The Draker family which values bloodlines would never have allowed something like that.”
First Kali’s maternal family Prana was renowned for its noble family and Helen’s maternal family Milaris was also a family of knights with a long history in Thebes and possessed outstanding bloodline abilities.
Needless to say Abel’s maternal family Siemens was one of the most powerful Draker clans.
On the other hand marriage to Carmilla a vampire or Laura Agamemnon who was feared as a descendant of a cursed family seemed to have no benefit to Arthur Draker.
Even Carmilla and Laura both hated and loathed Arthur Draker so it was questionable why they had to marry like this.
Bacchus who was silent for a moment at those words said to Zeke.
“Arthur Draker was a kind of blood experiment.”
“experiment?”
“I think it’s an experiment to see what kind of seed will come out when a woman with special abilities is combined with the power of the most powerful Draker lineage.”
“So the reason Arthur Draker married Carmilla was because she was the true ancestral spirit?”
Bacchus nodded and said with a smirk.
“Zeke have you ever felt fatherly affection for Arthur Draker?”
I have never felt anything like that.
Although he showed favor to Zeke who he had only seen a few times in his previous life and who had shown outstanding abilities in his returned life it was difficult to see it as the love of a biological father.
‘I guess you’re thinking of it as a useful long-term statement.’
After hearing Bacchus’ words Zeke realized that the marriage between Carmilla and Laura made some sense from Arthur Draker’s perspective.
But then Carmilla screamed.
“Ah! I remembered!”
She said looking at Zeke.
“Kai Lubern! Are you Kai Lubern?”
