    Episode 383

    “Ah summon the devil?”

The chairman’s mouth fell open at Zeke’s completely unexpected words.

“Zeke said looking through the papers.

“I think you had quite a bit of dealings with the Siemens family. Is that right?”

Chairman Kunrad met the eyes of the vice chairman and other executives.

Until recently the Siemens were the largest bloodline of the Drakers and one of the most powerful families in the Central Continent.

If Siemens made such a request it was natural for the association to make a deal.

When Kunrad didn’t answer Zeke looked at him with sharp eyes.

    “Why is there no answer?”

Kunrad responded cringing involuntarily at the chilling voice of the frosty Zeke.

    “Yes that’s right.”

    “hmm.”

Zick went back to flipping through the papers without saying anything else.

Every time he heard the sound of papers being shuffled Kunrad’s heart sank.

I brought them to this conference room on purpose to pressure Zeke and Melissa but the tables were turned and they were being interrogated.

Zeke put the papers he was looking at back down and looked at Kunrad.

“So what are you going to do?”

Kunrad was flustered and broke out in a cold sweat at Zeke’s way of speaking cutting off all the words and asking what he was going to do.

‘Damn it. Suddenly you started talking about summoning demons and then out of nowhere you brought up the Siemens family… I have no idea what’s going on.’

He made eye contact with the other executives and gave each other eye signals as to what to do but the others also had no idea what was happening.

But then the vice president stood up again and shouted at Zeke.

“Sir Zeke Draker! What kind of impertinence is this! Summoning demons out of the blue? Our tower has never intervened in such matters!”

As expected the chairman’s heart stopped beating at the vice chairman’s sudden shout.

‘Hey what did this kid eat wrong today? Why does he keep making a fuss?’

Even though he had once given him a hint to stay still the Vice President provoked Zeke Draker again without consulting him.

At those words Zeke rested his chin on his hand and looked over the other executives including the vice president.

“Hmm I have never intervened in the summoning of demons. Do you have any evidence to prove this?”

The chairman’s breath caught in his throat for a moment at Zeke’s words.

‘This kid… is trying to pressure us by forcibly linking us to the summoning of demons.’

Instead of presenting evidence that he had summoned the demon he was insisting that he bring evidence that he had not done it.

According to Zeke’s logic the Federation had to somehow prove that they did not summon the demon but that didn’t make sense in the first place.

When the people from the union side remained silent Zig slowly got up from his seat.

“It seems like no one is very interested in this issue. Well I understand. I will tell the black stage what happened today.”

When the name ‘Black Stage’ was mentioned Kunrad suddenly got up from his seat in surprise.

“Hey wait a minute! Sir Zeke!”

He quickly got up walked towards Zeke bowed his head towards him and said.

“You’ve come all this way so how can you just leave like this? Instead why don’t we have a meal together and talk a bit?”

The chairman’s attitude was noticeably different from when Zig first came in.

Zik whined as he looked at the chairman.

“Okay. It doesn’t seem like they’re particularly welcoming of me up there so why bother wasting each other’s time?”

At those words the chairman gestured to the other executives.

Then the other executives also stood up and bowed their heads to Zeke.

“I always admired the Knight of Salvation and wanted to meet him!”

“Let’s have a meal together. I know a good restaurant! I’m sure Sir Zeke will like it!”

“I heard you like tea. How about a cup of tea after your meal? I know a wonderful tea house that serves tea and teaware that I imported from the East.”

When the water level seemed to have risen to a certain level Zeke made a reluctant expression and asked Princess Melissa.

“Oh right. What will you do Your Highness? Aren’t you busy with other schedules?”

Princess Melissa also nodded frowning slightly at Zeke’s words.

“Yes I’m a bit pressed for time. But I have to eat anyway so that’s about it…”

The chairman and executives quickly took action at Princess Melissa’s words.

‘Hurry up and reserve a restaurant and clear everything out. Hurry up!’

The executives who immediately understood the Chairman’s silent gaze moved quickly. Seeing that the Chairman bowed to Zeke and Melissa and bought time for the executives to prepare.

After a while Zeke Melissa the chairman and the executives arrived at the most expensive and famous restaurant in the neutral city.

The restaurant was completely empty as planned so it was very quiet inside.

The chairman guided Zeke and Melissa to the head table and sat down next to them.

Before the food was served he brought out some precious wine and poured it into their glasses.

“A precious person has come so I can’t just send you away.”

It was an expensive wine one glass of which was worth about a month’s salary for a knight.

To begin with Zeke who didn’t drink much and Melissa who considered frugality a virtue were not happy about this expensive treatment.

The chairman who had no idea what was on Zig and Melissa’s mind explained in a boring tone how precious this wine was.

Zick who had been listening to the story ended up picking up his glass and downing it in one go before the chairman could finish speaking.

    “uh….”

The chairman was momentarily speechless when he saw Zig gulping down the precious wine as if it were water.

Zick looked at the chairman and said.

“I don’t know if it’s necessary for other people to be humble here as well.”

The chairman listened to Zeke’s words and made a face that said “What was meant to be said has come.”

‘It’s completely different from what I heard.’

He may have stuck his tongue out internally but he was still Drake’s guardian knight.

I was in a position where I could have done more than enough.

He quickly motioned for the other executives to leave.

Soon only Zeek and Chairman Melissa were left in the restaurant.

As the chairman tried to pour wine into Zeke’s glass again Zeke snatched the bottle from his hands.

Then he brought the wine from the bottle to his lips and drank it all in one go.

The chairman’s face turned pale when he saw that sight.

    ‘This guy is crazy…!’

Watching Zig down a bottle of wine worth hundreds of gold coins like it was cheap rum the Chairman realized that he was not in the hands of an ordinary madman.

Zig who had finished his wine looked at the chairman and said.

“Conrad Mason. You must be very rich. You drink expensive wine and frequent expensive restaurants.”

The chairman waved his hand at those words and said:

“That’s not true. I only come here occasionally when someone as noble as Sir Zeke comes.”

Zeke looked at Kunrad coldly and said.

“We’re alone so let’s talk comfortably. I’m sure you know why I came.”

The chairman opened his mouth slowly sweat dripping down his face.

“Is it because of the new drug from Pe Paynen Pharmaceuticals?”

    Then Zeke clicked his tongue.

The chairman’s pupils shook greatly at his reaction.

    ‘Isn’t that it?’

Zick shook his head and spoke to the chairman.

“I think you haven’t quite got the hang of it yet. The situation is dire.”

Kunrad was surprised by Zeke’s words and asked.

    “What do you mean?”

“Are you deaf? You must have completely forgotten what I said earlier. I mean summoning a demon.”

Kunrad was taken aback by Zeke’s words.

‘Wasn’t that just meant to scare me?’

Zeke who had been staring at the bewildered face handed him the document he had been looking at earlier.

“If you don’t believe me see for yourself.”

Kunrad opened the documents Zeke had handed him and quickly looked through them his eyes widening.

    ‘This artificial blood stone manufacturing?’

Zeke tracked down how Siemens and Narak were manufacturing the artificial bloodstones needed to summon the Demons.

According to Richmond artificial bloodstones could not be made with just blood and fairy stones.

It would have been possible if they had all the materials and processing technology needed to make it but realistically the only place that could do something like this on this scale was the Alchemist’s Guild.

    Zeke dug into that part.

The documents that Kunrad had checked were written in detail about how the materials they had processed and sent to Siemens were used to make artificial bloodstones and that these materials were used to summon demons.

Kunrad jumped up from his seat trembling.

“This is unfair! We have never been involved in summoning demons.”

Zeke said glaring at him with cold eyes.

“So are you saying that everything I investigated was false?”

Kunrad was unable to answer Zeke’s question.

Even though he was only interested in money he was also a master of alchemy who had studied enough to become the president of the association. The contents of the document were not outrageous lies. Rather there was a high probability that they were true.

So it was their responsibility anyway to send the relevant items to Siemens without even asking what they were going to be used for.

Especially on the continent summoning demons was a taboo and carried a serious penalty so much so that even if it was unintentional anyone who participated in the summoning ritual was subject to punishment by law.

Kunrad also knew this so it was difficult for him to refute Zeke’s words.

Zeke clicked his tongue at Kunrad.

“If this fact becomes known to the Holy Land of Baadoca the Pope may completely revoke the authorization granted to the Alchemist’s Guild.”

Kunrad came to his senses at those words.

    ‘Oh no.’

In fact the reason the Alchemists’ Guild had the authority to certify potions and medicines was because the Pope had previously approved potions as a substitute for holy water and allowed their widespread use. And at the time that authorization was also intended to establish a reliable standard for quality.

But the current federation whose original meaning has faded is only concerned with abusing this system to fill its own stomach.

Kunrad recalled how Zeke had recently saved the Badoka Kingdom from an army of monsters.

The Pope personally awarded Zeke the title of Paladin and gave him the title of Savior of the Holy Nation.

In this situation if Zeke had personally conveyed to the Pope that the Alchemist’s Guild had processed and handed over the materials necessary for summoning the Demon he could have lost his authority to grant certification.

Only then did Kunrad realize that he and the Federation were in a tight spot.

‘We must somehow change Zeke Draker’s mind.’

He came out of his seat and knelt before Zeke.

Then he banged his forehead on the floor.

“Please spare me just this once Sir Zeke!”

Zeke looked down at Kunrad who knelt down without hesitation with cold eyes.

Soon the door opened and the staff brought out the food.

The well-trained staff pretended not to see Kunrad kneeling on the floor calmly put the plates back politely bowed and left the room.

Zeke offered a meal to Princess Melissa who was sitting next to him.

He and Princess Melissa enjoyed their meal completely oblivious to Kunrad’s kneeling prone state.

This uncomfortable situation continued until the end of the course.

It was only when the meal was over and it was time to eat dessert that Zeke slowly opened his mouth.

“You’re so annoying when you’re eating.”

At Zeke’s harsh words Kunrad raised his head and approached him.

“Sir Zeke I was wrong. Please spare me just this once.”

At Kunrad’s words Zeke clicked his tongue and put down the fork he was eating dessert with.

He wiped his mouth with a napkin and looked down at Kunrad.

“Ha Conrad Mason. Do you know what you did wrong?”

Kunrad also had a keen eye.

Ultimately what Zeke wanted was for Payne Pharmaceuticals’ new drug to be passed on its own and for things to go smoothly.

However he was emphasizing that it had nothing to do with him and was deliberately pressuring him by bringing up the summoning of demons.

‘You should never forget that he is a direct descendant of Drake who is more evil than the devil.’

It was because I believed the rumors about Zeke’s young age and gentle personality and took him lightly that this unfortunate incident occurred.

He decided to kneel down before Zig because he was afraid that if he blocked the new drug the entire union would be turned upside down.

    “Please show mercy!”

Even though Kunrad lowered his tail first Zeke did not give a clear answer.

Kunrad became more anxious than before.

Then Zeke suddenly took out a potion from his bosom and placed it in front of Kunrad.

It was a potion brought from Naga’s city.

He was wondering what was going on all of a sudden but his eyes widened when he saw the potion Zeke handed him.

At first glance it was different from the regular potions made by processing troll blood.

    “What is this?”

“How about it? It’s a new potion that will be sold through Reinhart’s Trading Company next quarter. I’m thinking of the price being around 50 silver. Oh I don’t need the union’s permission or anything. I’m going to ask the Pope directly.”

At those words Kunrad’s face turned pale.

‘If something like this comes out the federation…’

No longer was there a problem with new drugs like Payne Pharmaceuticals.

    Zeke told him.

“Kunrad Mason I’ll give you a chance.”

Kunrad looked up at Zeke and asked in a trembling voice.

“What kind of opportunity is this…?”

Zeke spoke in a voice more devilish than the devil himself.

“Abandon the Federation and I will open a new path.”
