A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 381
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 381
The young vampires looked at each other in confusion after hearing Zeke’s words.
Even though they were Red Eye vampires who were famous for being fearless the aura emanating from Zeke was so ominous that they couldn’t move rashly.
Just then the tattoo shop door opened and someone walked out.
She was a pale-skinned woman with tattoos all over her exposed arms and neck and piercings in her eyebrows and nose.
She put a cigarette in her mouth lit it and blew out a puff of smoke.
Then he said in a languid voice.
“He’s our guest. Take him over there.”
The vampires were startled by the woman’s words and dragged the fallen member away somewhere.
She offered Zeke a cigarette in a leisurely manner.
As Zeke shook his head she slowly finished smoking the cigarette threw it on the floor put it out with her foot and then spoke to him.
“Come in.”
Zeke followed the vampire woman into the store.
There were chairs placed all over the place indicating that this was a real tattoo parlor and tattoo needles were dipped in disinfectant.
“Have you thought about getting a tattoo?”
When asked about his surroundings Zeke shook his head again.
“It’s not fun.”
She let out a lazy word and led Zeke to the back of the building.
I went to the back of the building and opened the door on the floor revealing stairs leading down to the basement.
Zeke followed the vampire woman inside.
Just as she was coming down the stairs the woman suddenly blurted out a word.
“I heard you were Bacchus’s brother but your faces don’t look alike.”
Zeke didn’t really respond to those words.
The vampire woman also didn’t seem to expect an answer so she went down to the basement in silence without asking again.
Soon I reached the top of the stairs and a door came into view.
The woman knocked on the door.

“It’s me Nikki.”
Then the door opened slowly.
Inside the door a large bearded male vampire covered in tattoos checked on Nikki and Zeke.
He gestured for me to come in without saying anything.
Upon entering surprisingly the dark hall was filled with dazzling lights created by magic and dozens of vampires were dancing rubbing their bodies against each other.
‘What is this place?’
Zeke looked around at them and felt that there were humans wedged in between them.
But everyone had hazy eyes as if they were under the vampire’s hypnosis and soma.
In one corner vampires were rolling around holding severed human heads drinking blood and kissing each other.
Zeke realized that this was the vampires’ dining place.
‘I’ve heard it through rumors but this is the first time I’ve actually seen it.’
The rumor Zeke had heard was that there was a separate place where vampires would lure humans into a state of extreme pleasure and then squeeze their blood out of them and drink it.
I wondered if such a place really existed and it seemed like this place was it. The entire space was filled with a strong scent of blood due to the vampires’ meals.
Zeke ignored them and followed Niki’s lead through the noisy hall and into a quiet room.
“Zeke Draker.”
As soon as he entered the room Bacchus got up from his seat and stood in front of Zig.
The vampires that inhabited the neutral city noticed his presence the moment he set foot in the city.
And he quickly relayed that information to Bacchus.
When Zeke took off his shape-shifting cloak he returned to his original form.
Then Niki looked at Zeke carefully and nodded.
“They look alike.”
Bacchus ignored Niki’s words and looked at Zeke.
“Sit over here. I prepared tea because I heard you were coming.”
As Zeke sat down Bacchus expertly brewed some tea and handed him a cup.
Zig nodded his head with satisfaction after drinking his tea.
“That’s a nice car.”
Zeke glanced at Bacchus’s regenerated left arm.
“Isn’t your regenerated arm uncomfortable?”
At those words Bacchus smiled bitterly.
“There’s nothing special about that. Anyway thanks to that there was no pursuit from the black stage.”
In fact it was not that the Black Stage stopped pursuing them because of Zeke’s actions but rather that Arthur Draker had abandoned Bacchus and Carmilla.
Now that Zeke has learned about them Arthur seems to be taking it upon himself to wait and see.
Bacchus who leads the information organization must have been aware of this to some extent.
Bacchus asked Zeke while drinking tea.
“You came sooner than I expected. I thought it would take a little longer.”
When Zeke heard that he looked at Bacchus and said:
“I have some business to attend to in a neutral city.”

At those words Bacchus spoke first.
“Is it because of the Alchemist’s Guild?”
Zeke put down his teacup after hearing Bacchus’ answer.
“Are you following me around?”
Bacchus shook his head.
“I just found out while I was here. I heard that the union is having a really hard time these days because of the new drug that came out from Payne Pharmaceuticals.”
At those words Zeke nodded calmly and opened his mouth.
“They have made huge profits with drugs that have low efficacy so far so it is understandable that they would be sensitive to new drugs.”
“It’s not something to be taken so lightly.”
Bacchus also put down his teacup and said.
“It seems like the Alchemist’s Guild will bet their life on this matter. If that new drug comes out like you said the Guild will be eliminated in no time.”
Zeke clicked his tongue and frowned.
“Does that mean that we won’t give certification and approval to a perfectly good drug?”
“There are several ways. You could say that the drug’s raw material is soma so there’s a risk of addiction if abused or you could say that there are safety issues that we don’t know about yet.”
Zeke looked dumbfounded at those words.
“That’s really nitpicking.”
“From their perspective they have to somehow stop the release of that drug. Anyway….”
Bacchus continued speaking looking at Zeke.
“You came here to ask about him didn’t you? To find out information that could be used to attack the Alchemist’s Guild.”
Zeke nodded to Bacchus’ words.
But in fact Zeke’s true intentions were not information from the Alchemist’s Guild.
Through information from his previous life he already knew about the corruption of the Alchemist’s Guild and the weaknesses of its key executives.
However the reason he came to see Bacchus was to compare the information he knew with the information they had to gauge the level of information power of the vampires.
‘I need to figure out how they compare to the Syndicate to see if they’re worth doing business with me.’
Bacchus looked at such a jiggle and said while handing over the documents he had prepared in advance.
“Information about the Alchemist’s Guild.”
It seemed like they had prepared in advance even before Zeke arrived.
He quickly glanced through the papers Bacchus had handed him without saying a word.
And then I was secretly amazed at the unexpected result.
‘There is more detailed information organized systematically than I knew.’
As Bacchus was from the Draker Dark Stage his skills in handling information were needless to say.
What surprised Zeke was that the causal relationship of each piece of information and the relationships between the people connected to it were meticulously investigated and recorded.
“How about this? I think it could be a good enough replacement for the Syndicate.”
Bacchus had also read Zig’s intention to test them and had prepared in advance.
Zig closed the papers and looked at Bacchus.
“Honestly I didn’t think you would have this much information. It’s better than I expected.”
“Even though the Draker Dark Stage is a shithole it was a good place to learn how to handle information. If we combine the information from Red Eye which has a presence across the continent as well as the sub-organizations connected to it and the high-level windows connected to our side we can come up with results that will surprise even you Zeke.”
Even as a Zig he had no choice but to acknowledge Bacchus’s information power.
Although he also formed an intelligence unit centered around Boris strictly speaking it was closer to an operations unit than an intelligence organization.
It was clear that Bacchus would be of great help to Zigg who was relatively weak in terms of information power.
Zeke said looking at Bacchus.
“Where is Carmilla? I would like to meet her in person and hear her story.”
At those words Bacchus shook his head.
“I can’t see my mother right now.”
“Has your body not recovered yet after the resurrection?”
Bacchus’ expression changed slightly and strangely.
“I guess we should look at it that way. I can’t tell you the details of the situation but it seems like communication would be difficult right now.”
“So when can I see Carmilla?”
“It should take at least three weeks.”
“Three weeks later…..”
Zeke nodded and got up from his seat.
“Okay. How can I contact you?”
Bacchus took a communication device out of his bosom and handed it to Zeke.
Then he gestured towards Niki who was lying on the sofa behind him.
She got up with a languid gesture.
“This is a secure communication port. You can contact me through here when you need to and when you see me in person Niki will act as the intermediary.”
Zeke packed his security harness and looked at Niki.
“He doesn’t seem like an assassin or a prosecutor. He’s a wizard.”
At those words Niki looked at Zeke and said.
“Illusionist. If you were a normal man instead of me you would have been seduced by me and would be licking my feet like a dog by now.”
Because he had the skill of indomitable will Zeke did not fall for the vampire’s illusions or temptations.
Bacchus said as he looked at Niki like that.
“Nikki I told you not to go around using illusions on just anyone.”
At Bacchus’s words Niki turned her head away and went back to the sofa lying down in a slumped position.
Zeke said looking at Bacchus.
“I guess I won’t get bored since my colleagues have their own personalities.”
“….”
He gave Bacchus a pat on the shoulder as he shook his head then left Red Eye’s secret hideout and returned to the hotel where he had made himself a guest.
The mischievous twins didn’t return until later at night.
Because there were so many accidents just visiting each one and giving them flowers took up an entire day.
They had no choice but to sleep very quietly under Zeke’s watch.
* * *
The next day a welcome guest came to the hotel where Zeke was staying.
“Welcome Princess.”
It was none other than Princess Melissa of Alencia.
The princess looked more mature and elegant than before.
“It’s been a while Sir Zeke.”
When he first dealt with Melissa Zeke was just a genius knight with potential.
But the current Zik is completely different from back then.
It was Zig who rose to fame by setting unprecedented records on the continent.
Melissa had been romantically attracted to Zeke but now he was so far away that she felt like a star in the sky that she couldn’t reach.
Zeke who could not have known such feelings ordered breakfast for Melissa and the two had a leisurely breakfast.
Melissa said looking at Zeke.
“I have reviewed the information you sent. The Alchemist’s Guild is being unreasonably stubborn.”
The new drug from Paynon Pharmaceuticals was to be sold by Reinhart Trading Company owned by Princess Melissa.
However it was impossible to sell it on the continent without obtaining approval from the Alchemist’s Guild.
That’s why I planned to call Princess Melissa the actual owner of Reinhart’s Company and have her negotiate with the Alchemist’s Guild.
Zeke nodded to Princess Melissa’s words and said.
“Even if the princess and I speak the Federation probably won’t grant us permission to authenticate.”
Princess Melissa was startled by those words.
“No even if that’s true Sir Zeke is the guardian knight of the Draker family… Even so I don’t think the Alchemist’s Guild would be that stubborn. I think they’ll come out to negotiate a price adjustment.”
Zeke noticed that Melissa’s abbreviation omitted the words ‘to seek some revenge.’
No matter how much the Alchemist’s Guild did to their gangsterism they were nothing compared to the Draker family.
If the Draker family were to take sides with the Federation right away they would be at a disadvantage.
But Zeke had no intention of using his family’s power to pressure them.
Zeke in his own way intended to use this opportunity to firmly correct the Alchemist’s Guild’s bad habits.
He said to Princess Melissa.
“Do you remember the contract I made with Cliff before Princess?”
It was a contract that was so old that even Zeke had forgotten about it until recently.
He asked Cliff for three favors: first to find a ship to the south for him to attack Don Juan; second to hire a ship from Reinhart’s Company to go to an island in the South Sea to rescue Kali.
And one last request remains.
Melissa said looking at Zeke.
“Okay go ahead.”
Zeke slowly opened his mouth towards Melissa.
“I would like to create a new alchemist association centered around Reinhart Trading Company.”
