A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 346
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 346
His face was almost identical to Zeke’s except for the light gray hair and glowing brown eyes.
Zeke stared intently at the King’s face.
‘You’re just like me except for your hair color.’
Although initially bewildered Zeke soon accepted the reality.
‘I too am descended from the blood of Agamemnon and Draker so it is not strange if our appearances resemble each other.’
They had similar if not almost similar appearances but Zeke dismissed it as a mere coincidence.
The King said as he looked at Zig who was looking at him with surprised eyes.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
To that Zeke shook his head in response.
“It’s nothing Your Majesty.”
This time the King looked at Zig blankly and then said something.
“Your vibe. Terracan Draker. You look a lot like him.”
Zeke was taken aback by the King’s unexpected words.
“Am I the one talking?”
“okay.”
The voice of the Holy King speaking about Terracan was quite sharp.
Zeke realized one thing after seeing the King’s reaction.
‘It seems that he had guessed that Terracan was his biological father. However since he did not reveal it he did not acknowledge it either.’
Zeke wondered why Terracan didn’t tell his son Geo Lubern the truth.
‘Claudia didn’t want to reveal that she was the Bahamut she killed.’
It seemed like the relationship between Terracan Draker and the Holy King was more complicated than I thought.
Then the King looked at Zig and asked.
“Heir. What is your name?”
After thinking about it Zeke took out the alias he had created before.
“This is Kai Lubern.”

I used the name I told Laura when I went back in time.
The King’s eyes wavered at Zeke’s words.
“Lubern. So you are my descendant?”
“Yes.”
Zig took out the Mask of Agamemnon one of the relics from his inventory and showed it to the King.
“It is a sacred item that has been passed down through the family. It was almost broken once before but with the blessing of the Fairy King it was restored to its original state.”
The king was even more surprised than before when he saw the mask of Agamemnon that Zeke was holding.
“The Great Sage’s Mask! This has been passed down for a long time! I was worried that no one would be able to use it properly after me. What a relief.”
The King smiled in relief for a moment then thought about something and asked Zeke.
“There’s one thing I’m curious about.”
“Please speak Your Majesty.”
“If you are my descendant you will be able to use the power of light as a healer class like me. However….”
The King continued speaking while looking at the window in the glass chamber.
“The Holy Spear Longomiant cannot draw out the power of Shinsal with the power of light. The power needed to do so is….”
“I’m guessing. You’ll need the power of immortality.”
The King’s eyes widened at Zeke’s words.
“How do you know this?”
“Actually before coming here I met the divine dragon Poseidon and pulled out the spear that was sealing his body.”
Zig took out the crude spear he had pulled from Poseidon’s body from his inventory and showed it to the King.
The king was surprised when he saw the window.
“I’ve heard of this spear. Did you really pull this spear out?”
“Yes that’s right.”
At Zeke’s words the King closed his eyes for a moment put his hands together and prayed.
“God of Light. Today I have finally met the true successor who will save the world and can pass on this spear to him.”
As he watched the Holy King praying with a devout look Zeke felt a strange sense of familiarity with him.
‘Is it because we look alike?’
Zeke thought of his other brothers.
Perhaps because they all had different mothers his brothers all had different appearances and personalities.
Although he had a good relationship with Carly and Helen it was more as a colleague or ally than as siblings.
One of the brothers Abel was even killed by Zeke and another brother Bacchus was captured by Zeke and almost killed.
Sibling feuds were quite common in the history of the Draker family.
Zeke felt a subtle sense of intimacy with the Holy King whom he had just seen today in spirit form rather than with his blood brothers.
‘That’s strange. This has never happened before.’
At that moment the Holy King who had finished praying got up from his seat and approached Zig.
“Kai Lubern. Today is the day I can finally free myself from these heavy chains. On my behalf use this holy spear to destroy the resurrected Demon King forever.”
“Your Majesty I have a question.”
“Speak.”

“I have heard the prophecy about the Demon King’s resurrection before but I do not know exactly how the Demon King will be resurrected.”
“Prophecy itself is dangerous so prophets have no choice but to use riddles and rhymes to hide the truth. What do you know about the resurrection?”
“All I know is that the wizards of the Abyss are trying to use the Book of the Dead to resurrect the being known as the King in Yellow.”
When the word ‘Hell’ came up the King’s expression darkened.
“Those damned bastards are still running wild. I’ve been working so hard to kill them every time I see them.”
Surprisingly it seems that Narak existed even during the time of King Seongwang.
Zig said to the King.
“It is currently about 800 years since the era of the Holy Empire established by Your Majesty. In this world the Demon King is treated as nothing more than a character in a children’s story. Everyone laughs and thinks it is a bad joke when you talk about the Demon King’s resurrection.”
The king frowned at those words.
“It’s the method of the hellish bastards. Those evil seeds hide their true identities and infiltrate society gradually changing people’s perceptions changing history and changing information. Sometimes these conspiracies can be more effective than leading a large army and attacking a castle.”
Zig nodded to the King’s words.
Even people still mistakenly believed that the Liberation War was caused by Bahamut.
Misinformation and history distort people’s perceptions and make them completely unaware of how dangerous a situation they are in.
The King said to Zeke.
“In order for Narak to resurrect the Demon King two things are needed. One is the Book of the Dead where the Demon King’s soul is sealed and the other is a vessel to contain that soul.”
“I think I know what the Lion’s Book is but what does the bowl mean?”
“The body into which the Demon King’s soul descends. It must be prepared.”
Zeke had one question about the King’s words.
“I heard that only a dragon’s body can withstand the Demon King’s great power. So wasn’t it that the Demon King’s soul entered Bahamut before?”
The king nodded to his words.
“You’re right. But after the liberation war the dragon population was almost extinct. So the Abyss guys found another way.”
“What other way is that?”
“employee.”
Zeke was surprised by the King’s words.
“Yongin? Are you saying that you created Yongin and gave him the spirit of the Demon King?”
“Yes. A being with the power of a dragon but with a human heart. The most suitable one to summon the Demon King. However there is a condition for this as well.”
“What conditions?”
“The original Yong-in was when the contracting dragon gave part of its heart to its contracting party and transplanted it to forcibly create a human body. The human body is infinitely weaker than that of a dragon so it was a kind of trick created by the dragons in hopes of being with their contracting party for a longer period of time.”
Zeke remembered what Hoshigar had said before.
‘Hoshigardo also said that the existence of Yongin was a trick created to deceive Karma.’
But this method also ultimately required the dragon’s help.
As he became more and more puzzled the King opened his mouth.
“The warlocks of the Abyss have figured out a way to create dragons without the help of dragons.”
“Yes? Is that possible?”
“Yes there are no dragons left but the dragon hearts they left behind when they died still exist. The warlocks conducted experiments to create dragons by forcibly transplanting dragon hearts into humans.”
When Zeke heard the King’s words one thing occurred to him.
‘Abel. He must have used the dragon’s power too.’
If what the King said was true then the wizards of the Abyss must have transplanted the dragon’s heart into Abel to make him a vessel.
‘They’re crazy. Thinking of transplanting a dragon’s heart into a human body.’
Thanks to this Abel was able to quickly reach the level of a Black Knight but he gradually became unstable and eventually became consumed by the power and turned into a monster-like form.
If Zeke had tried to absorb the cursed dragon’s heart without the power of the system it would have been no different from Abel.
The king continued speaking.
“But transplanting a dragon’s heart into a human was no easy task. Most of the attempts by the Abyss ended in failure.”
Zig nodded to the King’s words.
The source of the dragon’s immense power was the dragon’s heart.
The power of a complete dragon heart was something that no human could possibly handle.
Zig said to the King.
“So that’s why Narak couldn’t make a vessel for a long time and couldn’t break the Demon King’s seal.”
“It won’t be easy as it would be nearly impossible to get the Book of the Dead back even if it is a bowl.”
Zeke looked puzzled at the King’s words.
“Wasn’t the Book of the Lion already in Narak? I thought you were the ones who gathered to interpret it and gain power.”
The king shook his head at those words.
“Strictly speaking the Narak are followers of the Demon King who were created after the Liberation War in order to retrieve the Book of the Dead where the Demon King’s soul was sealed. After losing the war they were scattered and hiding in various places so I had no choice but to travel around the entire continent to defeat them.”
Only then did Zeke understand why there were so many records of battles against warlocks and liches in the Chronicles of the Holy King. They were traces of battles against none other than the warlocks of the Abyss.
The Holy King frowned as he thought of the black magicians of the Abyss.
“Those damn bastards are still alive after 800 years. I should have wiped them out more thoroughly back then…”
Then Zeke shook his head.
“Those guys are like poisonous mushrooms they hide when danger is near but when the time comes they rise again. Your Majesty did your best.”
At those words the King looked at Zig and smiled.
“Thank you.”
Zik who was looking at the King with a warm smile asked another question.
“Your Majesty if it is as you said I did not have the Book of the Dead then but I may have it again now.”
Then the king shook his head.
“Probably not.”
“Yes? How can you be so sure?”
The King looked straight into Zig’s eyes and said.
“The Lion’s Tomb is hidden in a place where no one including the demons can reach it so even the demons from the Abyss won’t be able to find it easily.”
Zig asked with a puzzled expression at the King’s words.
“Where on earth is that place that even the hellish creatures can’t find?”
The king hesitated for a moment and then slowly opened his mouth.
“Then I should tell you the successor.”
Even after saying that the King hesitated for a moment before opening his mouth again.
“The last dragons threw themselves into a tower to seal the Book of the Dead. And they sealed the book in the deepest part of that tower.”
“Are you saying that the Book of the Dead is sealed in a tower built by dragons?”
“Yes. Thanks to the noble sacrifices of the great sages and dragons the Demon King’s soul has been sealed forever.”
Zig asked the King.
“Where is that tower?”
The king hesitated and then answered slowly.
“Beyond the Dark Sea. A forsaken continent where no one can go. The Last Tower is right there.”
