A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 341
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 341
Zeke looked puzzled at Duke’s words.
“What do you mean by ‘stop the lord’?”
The Duke said frowning.
“I often feel that Arthur is in danger when I look at him.”
Zeke didn’t quite understand what Duke was saying.
‘The family is in danger. How can someone who has reached the level of Grand Master do that?’
At that moment memories from his past life came to Zeke’s mind.
In his previous life Arthur Draker suddenly passed away from an illness.
I wondered if the death had something to do with the Duke’s worries.
‘I don’t think that person will die from the illness.’
The Duke continued speaking slowly.
“Arthur has always been the type of person who has to achieve whatever he wants. He’s been that way since he was a child.”
“It doesn’t seem like much has changed since then.”
“Yeah. Except for his relationship with Laura there’s never been a time when things didn’t go his way.”
Zeke thought back to his mother Laura Agamemnon whom he had seen when he went back in time.
A person who was strong and independent.
It was a personality that did not match Arthur Draker’s who was different on the outside and inside.
In fact Laura despised Arthur at the time.
‘I still wonder why my mother married Arthur Draker. Did they really love each other?’
Zeke wanted to ask Rex Tourn more about this later when he met him.
Moreover Laura Agamemnon whom Zeke met seemed more friendly towards Ramon Siemens than Arthur Draker.
Considering the current Siemens family it was hard to believe that Laura Agamemnon had shown him any kind of friendliness.
In the past I just thought there might be something that Zeke himself didn’t know.
Duke said looking at Zeke who looked serious.
“When I look at the mad emperor of Rome I worry that Arthur might become like him one day.”

“Surely that can’t be the case?”
Duke smiled bitterly at Zeke’s words.
He had some idea what Arthur Draker was secretly doing through the Baron.
It wasn’t as crazy as the emperor’s but it wasn’t sensible behavior.
If Arthur Draker had not held such great power in the family he might have been summoned to the elders and stripped of his position as head of the family.
“Anyway I hope you become the head of the household Zeke. I think then this crazy family will become a little more normal.”
“If that’s the case then wouldn’t it be possible for Sister Carly to become the head of the household? Sister Carly is the most normal Draker I’ve ever seen.”
The Duke shook his head and said.
“I like Kali too but that’s not enough. Kali is currently struggling even with her position as a Guardian Knight. Although she is an excellent knight her political ability is not up to par. If she becomes the head of the family she will be manipulated by the elders and other heads of the families.”
The Drake family was not in a position to withstand simply because they were strong.
The reason Arthur Draker was able to gain the most power among all the heads of the clans was not only because of his skills but also because of his outstanding political sense.
Although Kali was a very capable knight he lacked political sense.
Duke discovered Zeke’s talent through this Holy Nation incident.
“If you declare that you will participate in the race for succession in earnest I will support you from behind.”
The competition for succession was ultimately a power struggle within the Drake clan.
The outcome depends on how many forces support it receives.
Right now Kali has overwhelming support but if Zeke steps forward and Duke shakes up the Four Seasons board from behind there’s no telling what the outcome would be.
Zeke was troubled by Duke’s words.
His original plan was to make Kali Draker the matriarch then step back from the political fight and grow stronger slowly taking over as matriarch after Kali.
But as things got to this point there was one thing that was bothering me.
‘A prophecy about the resurrection of the Abyss and the Demon King. If I stay back I won’t be able to use Draker’s power to stop them.’
It is possible to use the power of the family with Kali at the forefront but there are definitely limits.
Moreover if Kali could not seize control of the family as the head of the household the elders were likely to put the brakes on her power.
‘If I become the head of the household and take control of the entire family in advance I can attack them more effectively. Siemens can also make up an excuse to erase the family itself.’
Duke said as he watched Zeke pondering.
“It won’t be an easy decision so think about it. Andrei Aul and I will be by your side for a while so there’s no need to rush.”
Zeke was truly grateful for Duke’s consideration.
“Thank you Master. By the way there’s one thing I’d like to ask you.”
“What is it disciple?”
“Please be a little tough on our kids.”
Through this battle Zeke realized that the knights under his command had not yet fully realized their potential.
Zeke handed over a book from his inventory that contained the proper Auror training method he had previously heard from Shatton Draker.
Duke looked over the Auror training method he received from Zeke and asked in surprise.
“What is this?”
“I discovered it by chance at an ancient ruin and studied it to restore it. I think it would be good if you Master took a look at it and used it to train your knights.”
Duke looked through the book carefully and nodded his head in wonder at the different training method from the existing Auror training method.
“This might be worth looking into. Andrei and Aul are doing well now so it might be worth taking on the others.”

“They’re guys with strong bones so they’ll be fun to ride.”
Just then someone knocked on the door and came in.
It was none other than the captain Decker.
He approached Zeke and Duke with a serious expression and said:
“Your Majesty urgent news has arrived.”
Decker continued speaking hastily.
“It is said that the Imperial Army led by the Emperor is crossing the border and advancing towards the Holy Nation of Badoka.”
Zeke was impressed by those words.
“Didn’t His Holiness send you a letter? He told you to withdraw your troops since the Orc legions had been defeated.”
Decker nodded.
“Yes. But the Emperor is still advancing. And furthermore… the messenger who delivered the letter has not returned.”
At those words Zeke and Duke’s faces hardened.
The Duke said clicking his tongue.
“That crazy emperor is just going to go out like that now.”
Zeke said looking at Decker.
“Is the Emperor really advancing to the Holy Land of Badoka?”
“We don’t know the exact destination yet but in terms of direction yes.”
Zeke seemed to know where the Emperor was headed.
‘The ruins of the first Holy King Geo Luverne.’
Zeke knew the Emperor’s goal so he asked the Pope where the Holy King’s relics were.
But even the Pope did not know exactly where the holy king’s remains were.
All he had heard was that a previous pope had suggested that there might be an archaeological site beneath an old castle not far from the Holy Land of Badocca.
‘This is an opportunity. We must go to the ruins in advance set a trap and deal with the bastard here.’
I couldn’t just leave the mad emperor alone for any longer.
Zeke stood up and spoke to Decker.
“You will protect the Holy Land of Badoka with Sir Dekker Barod. I will briefly scout the Emperor’s side.”
Decker was taken aback by those words.
“Are you saying this alone my lord?”
Zeke nodded.
“If too many people move around you might get exposed so it’s better to be alone. I’ll just check the situation and come back so don’t worry too much.”
The remains of the Holy King might contain relics left behind by Geo Lubern.
It was better to go alone as taking others could have been more troublesome.
Zeke rode Bucephalus and headed straight for the old castle site where the ruins were said to be.
‘Mad Emperor. The Holy King’s ruins will become your grave.’
* * *
Doo doo doo doo doo!
The Emperor’s army advanced without hesitation waving the banner of the sacred wolf.
At the very front of the army stood the Knights of Scorpio.
At the very front of the Knights was Vice-Captain Kalito and next to him was Captain Gillian.
But surprisingly the leader Gillian had a gag made of iron over his face and his body was bound with thick leather restraints and chains.
What was even more surprising was that even though the leader Gillian was bound and tied up like an animal the entire order including Vice-Leader Carlito rode their horses silently.
The Emperor’s army led by the Knights of the Scorpio ran without stopping in such a strange manner crossing the border of the Holy Kingdom and arriving near the Holy Nation of Badoka.
During a brief pause in the march a black-robed wizard approached Gillian and Carlito.
A sorcerer with black lips and black nails relayed the Emperor’s words to the two men.
“The kingdom of Badoka refused to let us in. His Majesty was furious at their rudeness and told them that they would have to pay for the trouble of leading their troops here and for the food.”
At the wizard’s words Calito opened his mouth.
“Your Majesty is angry that is unacceptable. I will lead the army right now destroy the Holy Kingdom of Baadoka drag out the Pope and offer his head to Your Majesty.”
A radical remark came out that the usual Carlito would never make.
Then the wizard shook his head and continued speaking.
“His Majesty said that first we should go to the remains of the first holy king and dig up his tomb and collect his remains. This is because he is very angry that the current Holy Kingdom has neglected the remains of the first holy king. Since the tradition of the Holy Empire is inherited by none other than the Rom Empire he said that it is in order to properly bury the neglected remains of the first holy king who laid the foundation of the Holy Empire and punish those cunning Badoka holy nation’s thugs.”
At those words Calito nodded.
“Your Majesty this is indeed a vision. I will head to the ruins of the first king immediately.”
Having already been brainwashed by the Emperor through the cult’s sorcery Calito was no different from their loyal slave.
They told the Knights of Scorpio that they were changing their destination from the Holy Kingdom of Badoka to the ruins of the first Holy King.
The knights of Scorpio simply prepared to move again without saying a word.
This is because like Carlito and Gillian they have been brainwashed by the cult’s sorcery and have become a state where they only follow the orders given to them.
The Knights of Scorpio who had become puppets that faithfully followed orders given without any intention mounted their horses with completely dead eyes and followed Carlito and Gillian.
The long procession of the imperial army began to move again.
The wizard who had relayed the location of the ruins to Calito along with the message walked past the soldiers who were walking with eyes that looked like they were dying like ghouls and headed towards the place where the magnificent golden carriage was.
The wizard bowed his head and slowly climbed into the carriage approaching the golden carriage with a flag bearing the sacred wolf symbolizing the emperor fluttering in the wind.
The golden carriage was so large that it seemed as if the entire room was moving on its own.
In the middle of the golden carriage was a bed surrounded by a translucent curtain.
The Emperor of the Roman Empire was right behind that curtain.
The wizard bowed his head before him and reported.
“Your Majesty I have ordered the Knights to head towards the ruins.”
A heavy breathing sound was heard from beyond the curtain.
It was a sound of breathing that seemed as if the breath would stop at any moment.
As the wizard’s words were followed by a quiet breathing sound this time a clear voice was heard from beyond the curtain.
“Why doesn’t my physical condition improve even though I keep offering sacrifices? Didn’t the snake in the black mouth say that it would give a reward appropriate to the price?”
At his question the wizard nodded again and said:
“How can lowly servants understand the will of the Holy See? We only convey what the Holy See desires.”
At those words the golden carriage shook violently.
The wizard looked up in confusion.
At the same time the wizard grabbed his neck as if in pain.
“Kekekekeke! Your Majesty!”
An ominous voice was heard from beyond the curtain.
“There is only one reason I have you a disgusting bunch of people. To hold onto my soul so that it does not leave my body. Engrave this firmly in your dirty mind. If you deceive me and do something suspicious I will tear your bodies to pieces and feed them to the wolves.”
The moment the words were spoken the pressure that had been squeezing the wizard’s neck was released.
The wizard looked beyond the curtain with fearful eyes then bowed deeply and quickly climbed down under the carriage.
Once again the carriage was filled with the Emperor’s heavy breathing and the army silently headed towards the old castle site.
