A Dragonslayer’s Peerless Regression – 336
by Hectopascal(헥토파스칼 )
Episode 336
The great emperor who ruled over half of the continent began to suffer from the fear of death and gradually went mad.
Obsessed with his desire to not want to die he organized his own secret unit to investigate all the ancient ruins on the continent collect their artifacts and find a way to achieve immortality.
When the continent’s one and only emperor descends into madness what was thought to be impossible becomes reality.
This expedition was also one of the eccentric acts brought about by the emperor’s madness.
‘The illness has been overcome but the madness remains.’
In some ways it wasn’t a positive situation but Carlito was confident that he would do anything as long as it was beneficial to him even if the person in front of him was a madman.
“Your Majesty I am the new Calito. I am ready to do anything for your Majesty.”
At those words the emperor burst into a refreshing laugh.
“Carlito you too have no one as loyal as I.”
Calito looked up thinking that his words had satisfied the Emperor.
But then the cult wizards behind him rushed at him.
“What are you doing!”
Calito desperately resisted and activated the artifacts he had been carrying on his body.
Phage phage phage!
But the artifacts sparked and didn’t work at all.
It seemed like magic activation interference devices were spread throughout the barracks.
Carlito shouted at Gillian next to him.
“All hands on deck! We have to get out of here!”
When he turned his head to the side in a hurry Calito saw an unbelievable sight.
“Euuuuu.”
Something intangible was holding Gillian’s body preventing her from moving.
No matter how hard he tried to resist it seemed like he couldn’t escape.
Gillian tried so hard that her tendons stood out but it was no use.
“Eww!”
Gillian tried to escape somehow by raising an aura but the invisible force only held him back even more.

Calito trembled when he saw that even Gillian whom he had trusted had been captured.
Suddenly the wizards grabbed Calito’s head and threw it back.
Then a wizard came from behind holding a golden basin.
In the night strangely colored smoke was rising.
“Let go! Let go!”
The wizards grabbed Calito’s mouth and forced it open.
“Eeeeeeeep!”
The wizard carrying the basin poured an unidentified liquid into Calito’s mouth.
Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!
Carlito was captured by the wizards and was forced to drink an unidentified liquid.
“Euuuuu.”
His head was spinning his vision was blurry and he suffered from auditory and visual hallucinations.
Meanwhile the wizards held each other’s hands and began chanting spells while circling the motionless Gillian and the fallen Carlito.
The voice of the cultist chanting a spell in a strange language whose meaning was unknown pierced into the two people’s ears.
“Eww!”
Calito curled up like a shrimp and felt the mysterious liquid spread through his veins.
His hands and feet were shaking and his body was filled with pain that felt like his eyes were going to burst.
“Kuaaaah!”
The wizards’ spellcasting and screams filled the barracks.
On the other side of the curtain the Emperor took shallow breaths and muttered in satisfaction as he listened to the screams of Killito and Gillian.
“Your loyalty will make the empire stronger.”

“A secret society within the Holy Kingdom.”
The Golden Dawn Society as Beatrice explained was none other than a revolutionary organization formed to eradicate corruption and correct wrongs in the Holy Kingdom.
What was even more surprising was that this organization was descended from the Dawn Society in which Fab and Laura had been active.
It is said that Beatrice was almost captured and sold to slave traders along with the children of Luverne when she was young but was rescued by Sir Fab and was able to enter the monastery.
He gave himself the surname Valencia out of respect for Sir Fab grew up as a member of the Order of the Golden Dawn and while praying to God a sign of the sun appeared leading to his ascension to the position of Pope.
Zeke nodded after hearing her words.
“That’s surprising. I didn’t know that Your Majesty would have a connection with Sir Fab. I also didn’t know that there was a place called the Golden Dawn Society within the Holy Kingdom.”
“The Dawn Society’s activities to rescue the blood relatives of Luverne were taken over by the Rose Society and within the Holy Kingdom a suicide squad called the Golden Dawn Society continued its legacy.”
She said this while looking at the bulletin board on the wall.
“As Sir Zeke knows the situation in the Holy Kingdom is not good. The clergy who are supposed to be the most upright are only concerned with their own interests without any concern for the well-being of their subjects.”
Zeke said looking at Beatrice.
“I understand. Coming here through the port we were faced with a terrible reality. Those who were not protected by the Holy Land were sacrificed to the Orc hordes and were taken away by the Imperial forces that invaded their territory as sacrifices to their evil magic.”
Beatrice closed her eyes for a moment as if she felt deep sadness and anger at Zeke’s words.
When she opened her eyes again the innocent and innocent look in her eyes had disappeared and now only the fierce burning gaze of a fighter was in her place.
“The Golden Dawn Society will use this opportunity to reform the rotten Holy Nation and protect its citizens.”

Zeke asked Beatrice nodding at her firm resolve.
“Your Majesty. The Orc legions are approaching the Holy Land at every moment while the Imperial Army is on the flanks. In this situation if the cardinals and bishops who hold power notice your intentions and start fighting within Badoka will fall.”
Even if there were strong walls they were of no use if there was internal strife.
At those words Beatrice’s expression hardened.
I wanted to deal with them all right away but the situation didn’t make it easy.
Beatrice said clutching her head.
“…I know. That’s why I can’t do anything about those authors and am just leaving them alone like this. But I’m worried that if this goes on for too long the Holy Nation will rot away and never rise again.”
The complex structure of the Badoka Kingdom has created a tangled web of political power.
Even if the Golden Dawn Society were to eliminate some of those currently in power it was clear that other greedy people who were waiting for an opportunity would immediately take their place.
Zeke said looking at Beatrice.
“Your Majesty I have a way to save our country.”
At those words Beatrice raised her head.
“Sir Zeke what method are you talking about?”
Then Zeke looked at Beatrice and said.
“I need Your Majesty’s help for this method.”
“I can do anything to save the Holy Nation.”
Zeke nodded at Beatrice’s firm voice.
He approached her and whispered something in her ear.
Beatrice’s face hardened after hearing Zeke’s words.
“Sir Zeke. Will this method work on them?”
“They are greedy people so they will definitely fall into the trap.”
Beatrice bit her lip in thought.
Then she quickly nodded.
“I will do as Sir Zeke says.”
At Beatrice’s decision Zeke took something out of his inventory.
A glass that looks unappealing.
It was none other than one of the holy relics the ‘Holy Grail’.
Zeke said holding the Holy Grail.
“This Holy Grail will create new opportunities for the Kingdom of Badoka.”

Pierre the president received an urgent message from the other cardinals and bishops and hurried to the conference room of the parliament building.
There sat cardinals and bishops with serious expressions.
Pierre who heard the news also had a similar expression.
As he sat down one of the cardinals said to Pierre:
“Chairman what on earth is going on right now?”
Pierre pressed his temples as if he had a headache.
The news that reached him was that none other than Zeke Draker had presented the Holy Grail he had received from the Elven King to the Pope and was using it to grant greater power to the Paladins who would participate in this crusade.
Pierre and other high priests of the Holy Kingdom knew well what powers the Holy Grail of the Fairy King possessed.
Because in Badoka there were secret records of the secret history hidden behind the scenes.
Pierre had permission to view these records which included those of the dragon slayer Terracan Draker and the light sorceress Claudia Luverne.
The visa stated that Terracan Draker had gained new powers through the Holy Grail and defeated the evil dragon Bahamut.
He and other high priests as well as the upper-ranking paladins would know this fact so they could not help but be interested in the power that the Holy Grail grants.
Moreover as the clergy rise in rank they gain greater power through financial and political influence.
But the situation was different for the Paladins.
They had to reach a stronger level anyway to be able to get their hands on the name of Arch Paladin.
The Paladins becoming private soldiers and going under the priests with stronger powers was also to meet various conditions that would allow them to become stronger.
However if the Pope were to use the Holy Grail to make them stronger more quickly he would inevitably lose control over the Paladins.
Pierre ground his teeth as he remembered Zigg who had suddenly appeared taken out the Holy Grail and stirred up the Badocca Holy Land.
‘To hit the back of the head like this….’
Badoka had his own way of doing things.
Pierre thought that Jacques would soon come to him bow his head in apology for his rudeness on the first day and gradually try to adapt to the Badoka.
But I didn’t expect that he would take out the Holy Grail and take the initiative in this way.
Another bishop jumped up and shouted at Pierre.
“The Paladins under my command are already in turmoil! They are keeping an eye out for signs that they might be late and miss out on the blessings of the Holy Grail!”
At those words the other members of the National Assembly nodded with expressions full of pity.
As of now there was no way to stop the Paladins from leaving their camp and going to the Pope.
Since they were originally holy knights who swore loyalty to the order it was natural for them to become the Pope’s Sword the first sword of the order.
With one Holy Grail the Pope had the hearts of all the Paladins in the Holy Land under his control.
Beginning with the shouts of a bishop the conference room soon became noisy with the shouts and denunciations of anxious members.
Pierre who had been quietly listening to the other members slowly closed and opened his eyes.
Then he opened his mouth to the others.
“Quiet.”
The deputies who had been shouting at Pierre’s words stopped talking and sat down again.
In fact the one who was most upset was none other than Chairman Pierre.
Since he had the largest number of Paladins under his command he would be the one to suffer the greatest blow if defections began to spread to the Pope.
He looked around at the members of parliament and opened his mouth.
“I think everyone has too many worries.”
Pierre first calmed the council members down and then continued speaking.
“Even if there is a Holy Grail the current Pope does not have the power to move that many Paladins. As you know it is no exaggeration to say that Paladins are just moving wads of money. How can the Vatican maintain Paladins if the budget is not approved by the Senate?”
The council members thought carefully about Pierre’s words and then nodded.
They paid a high price using their ill-gotten wealth to bring the Paladins into their fold.
Thanks to this the Paladins became wealthier and more luxurious than the knights of any kingdom.
It was impossible for the Pope to afford the expenses of hiring such paladins.
The power gained from the Holy Grail was fleeting but the pleasures and luxuries that material things gave were long and sweet.
The council members believed that the Paladins would never give up their lives.
But then someone came hurriedly into the conference room.
A priest approached Chairman Pierre and whispered something.
Pierre heard the whisper and got up from his seat in surprise.
“Are you saying that Sir Barod entered the Vatican?”
The other members of the National Assembly were also surprised by those words.
Bouard Corbaccio.
He was one of the four Arch Paladins that existed in the Kingdom of Badoka.
